The last thing scarred and reclusive Luca Brown wants is the guardianship of an eighteen-year-old girl. Now that his friend is dead, he’s the one that’s got to take charge of Mavis Miller. The only problem … she’s not a girl. From the first moment he sees Mavis, his reaction to her scares the shit out of him. He’s now responsible for her, and that means he shouldn’t be thinking about her in anyway at all.
Mavis has never fitted in. Even her parents hated her and shipped her off to boarding school. Luca is different, and the scar on his face doesn’t scare her. After eighteen years of being ignored, she’s shocked when Luca takes her over his knee and punishes her for putting herself in danger. His touch. His hands. They drive her wild, and she wants him.
She’s the first woman to not flinch away. He should tell her no. He’s the guardian, but he doesn’t see her as his ward. No, he sees her as his, and he doesn’t want to just protect her—he wants to own her.
Sam Crescent is passionate about fiction. She loves a good erotic romance and so it only made sense for her to spread her wings and start writing. She began writing in 2009 and finally got that first acceptance in 2011 by Total-E-Bound. She loved creating new characters and delving into the worlds that she creates. When she’s not panicking about a story or arguing with a character, she can be found in her kitchen creating all kinds of havoc. Like her stories the creations in the kitchen can be just as dubious but sometimes things turn out great.
“Fuck me, Luca. Make me yours.” She cried out as he slammed to the hilt within her. He tore through the thin hymen of her virginity, popping her cherry, taking what no other man could have.
"His Ward" is the story of Mavis and Luca.
Let's divide this book into 2 halves- First half: -Sexy scarred hero -Innocent 18 year old heroine -Ward/Guardian relationship -Taboo cravings -Some porn voyeurism -Rain sex -Table sex -Loads of taboo-ey dirty talk -Potential for anal
Now for the second half -h behaving childishly -Less hanky panky -Unimpressive speech -Rushed ending -HEA but evil OM/OW didn't get to be smacked -Epilogue which was meh -(No anal)
Safe I rate it 4.5 stars for first half/2.5 for second, averaging to 3.5/5
I have to say the last few books by Sam Crescent I only read the sample and didn’t bother to buy and read the books because they didn’t grab me. This one I really enjoyed although I could knit pick the fact that Mavis was eighteen and while Luca may have controlled her trust fund till she was twenty-one she surely didn’t need to live with him. Luca Brown is 36 years old and ten years ago he was the “it guy” on Wall Street, making himself and his clients very wealthy. But all that ended when he slept with a married woman whose husband started a fight with him in public. Luca went through a glass window which left him with severe scars on his face. The press branded him a monster and Luca left it all behind to live a reclusive life on a ranch. Now he’s just been notified his former best friend who he hasn’t seen or spoken to in years has died and Luca was named guardian to his daughter. Mavis wasn’t the picture perfect daughter that her parents wanted so they shipped her off to boarding school the first chance they got. Her parents are dead and she doesn’t feel anything towards them because she barely knew them. Luca has control of her trust until she turns twenty-one so she’s moving in with him until then. It doesn’t take Luca long to realize his former friend was a shitty father and that having Mavis around isn’t a bad thing. When Mavis looks at him she doesn’t see his scars like everyone else does. Luca puts up a good fight to resist Mavis and keep things friendly but neither can fight the chemistry between them.
Age difference (18years) Last saw her when she was a baby Ex playboy, been celibate Scarred H Virgin h Pushing away Bratty and annoying h No abuse Mention of his playboy past a lot Got his scars because he slept with a married woman and got into a fight with the husband HEA with epilogue
I love this kind of stories and was looking forward for this. It wasn't bad story and I read it with super speed. Lol. But seriously it seemed I just started and then I'm close to the finish line. There was a couple things that bothered me, though. When Luca and Mavis would go forward and then backwards. People make up your mind, you make me dizzy. On one side, I can understand their reactions. But it doesn't make it any less frustrating. With Luca, he was bothered by her age. It made him step up and then retreat so many times I got whiplash. It took him a time to realize, that she may be young but she knows what she wants. And that is him. With Mavis, she was rejected by her parents. People who supposed to love her unconditionally, but they weren't happy with her looks. They couldn't be bothered with her at all. Like seriously, what was wrong with these people. I wanted to slap them. So, when Luca would embrace her, making her feel like everything is finally fine in her world, but then he would push her away... Yeah, that would sting so badly for her. Making her feel like she isn't enough. And instead of fighting for him, for them, she would think about life without Luca in her life, not realizing where his rejections and doubts coming from.
This was a good instant love, but fighting it, story! LOL Luca becomes Mavis's guardian after her parents die. At 18, she's an adult but she won't come into her inheritance until she's 21. Luca wants her but in the same breath, doesn't want her. To be honest, his back and fourth attitude towards his feelings for her made me want to reach through and shake him at times! I love all of Sam's books and this was a good one!
If there is one thing that you can be sure of its that Sam Crescent is the one to turn too if you want sweet and taboo to read, she writes the forbidden in such a brilliant and believable way.
This is the story of a young woman and a jaded older and slightly bitter man who finds himself with the sudden responsibility of looking after his ex bestfriends daughter. Mavis is used to being ignored, hidden away in a number of boarding schools as she wasn’t the daughter that her parents wanted, she was considered not pretty enough, not slim enough and basically did not fit the image that they wanted to create. Now she is alone in the world and everyone is expecting her to mourn but how can she mourn people that she didn’t know and made it clear that they never really saw her. From the second she sees Luca she can see that he sees her in every way and the look in his eyes is one that she has never seen before and from that moment on she craves the enigmatic recluse and knows her place is by his side. Now all she needs to do is show him they belong together.
Luca withdrew from the life he had been living after the incident that caused his scar, knowing he had been used as a pawn in game he had no interest in made him reclusive. If he wanted a woman he could have one but he saw the looks of disgust on people’s faces except for her. Mavis upends his life in every way showing him her heart and tempting him at every turn how can he guard against her brand of love before he knows it she becomes the only thing he sees, wants and making her happy is the only thing that matters. He wants her in his life for always and is prepared to do whatever it takes to make that a reality.
I always enjoy Sam’s book but in this one the characters captivated me from the beginning both rejected by society for what is perceived as “How to look”. Its low angst, safe with just the right amount of heat. Not one to miss out on.
If you in the mood for insta lust and insta love then I say pick up this one. From the moment that Luca becomes Mavis's guardian he couldn't help the attraction to her. He really didn't expect his ward to look like her. She wasn't a child she was an attractive sexy 18 year old women. But she needed his help until she turns 21 and her inheritance will be paid out to her, so that's what he was going to do, take care of her until then and then she can go on her way. But the more she's in his house the more he can't deny his feelings.
This book was just what i needed, the only reason for 4 and not 5 stars, was that Luca annoyed me. He couldn't make up his mind about his feelings, But the chemistry between them was just to much and in the end too strong to keep him away. Loved it
His best friend is dead and he now has to be a ward to his friends daughter, Mavis is quite and just lonely she has been all her life she is staying with her fathers best friend that hasnt been around. Luca already has a forbidden attraction to her but he knows he can't step in that direction she's to young (she's 18) but they temp and tease eachother.
Can Luca finally step up and say fuck it? And take what is his?
My only problem or confusion why would the social workers care really about Mavis? She's 18 she's already of age.. like? That part was just drama for drama..
Instalove/lust Rough tough dominating alpha male Sassy Stubborn virgin curvy gal Push and pull Taboo Drama No cheating (social worker flirted but was shot down) Safe read Spankings Sex Hea Epilogue
°Virgin heroine °Ex manwhore °He hasn't been with anyone for a while but when he needs sex he pays women to help him with that °Switching POVs °Insta lust->love °He's 36, she's 18 °Immature heroine °No OM drama °Hero received unwanted attention from OW °No cheating °Pushing away from the hero °Intimate scenes only between hero and heroine °Epilogue: 5 years later
This is another great story from Sam Crescent. Luca and Mavis are thrust together under less than perfect circumstances, suffer several miscommunications and set backs along the way, but in the end they manage to heal each other and create a fabulous life together. I look forward to reading more books by a favorite author.
This book is remarkable. Luca and Mavis are perfect for each other. I just loved every single minute of it. Their journey is filled with plenty of ups and downs. Plenty of raw emotions. I just adore them. The writing and flow of this book is done well. I absolutely recommend this book.
Okay I don't know what else to say other than Sam Crescent has done it again... This forbidden romance is everything... From guardian to lover to being each others everything. From angst to smut to downright erotic sex scenes that will make you squirm😈. You don't wanna miss out on this awesome read well done Sam 💖🌹
A sweet and emotional read. The storyline was intriguing and captivating, and I loved it. Lucas and Mavis were made for each other despite their age gap. They were both strong but vulnerable people to some degree and it was amazing seen them both come together. They had heaps of chemistry between them, you could literally feel it whilst reading. A very entertaining and enjoyable read.
This a story of two character male and female, who have physical and mental scars. Both are attracted to one another. But age difference between them have the male, wondering if it okay to follow-up on your heart desire or let her fly free. This is a great story with a great happy ending.
This was an okay book. For a little bit of the book I felt I was getting whiplash. Luca would pull Mavis in the push her away. He is a 36 year old man who should know who and what he wants. Mavis is 18 she is legal and doesn't need a ward just someone for her sizeable estate when she turns 21. Luca pulls her in and then regrets it then pulls her in again and pushes her away again.
I love reading a book by Sam Crescent! Each book opens up a whole new world that embraces every type of woman. But Sam Crescent does BBW the best! His Ward is a perfect mixture of a little naughty taboo and steamy hot romance. Great story!!
His Ward was a decent story that I bought rather quickly. I liked the premise of the story, a bit taboo in nature due to the age difference, I guess. The scenes were certainly steamy, their attraction apparent and overall the story was good just not great. I wanted it to be though. Happy Reading!!!
Both characters were so caught up in their own minds, their own pain, but somehow it works to unity them. I did strongly feel that the characters were severely depressed. This may not be the best romance for some people.
Fantastic .. They found each other.. He may have thought it was wrong at first but they deserved each other. Sweet sexy hot ... He's lucky she lived him enough that she forgave him when he was an ass
The reading was enjoyable. Sam Crescent always makes it so. I enjoyed very much and recommend the book. If you like modern heroes with a bit of strangeness in them, this one will not disappoint.=)
