I never in a million years thought I would be saying this... I actually really enjoyed this book. I know I know, after how much crap I gave the first three how could this happen. I can't even fully comprehend it myself. As much as I hated this series, this last book won me over. At first I thought that this series was ridiculous but after powering through it I actually completely understand its madness. For example: I didn't understand why each book needed to be 600+ pages, but now I do. This series is only written to be over a span of months, but instead of trying to cram all this into 200 pages she decided to just go balls to the wall and make the books as long as they needed to be. You (at least I ended up) feeling like I was going through everything with these characters. Characters that, and I quote, "I would never end up rooting for". Well guess what, I ended up doing just that. I was praying that Tessa and Hardin would end up together. I was hoping that even though everything they went through was so exaggerated, so overdone, far fetched, so pointless that it wouldn't end up being pointless.
Hardin and Tessa both turned out to be characters I ended up liking. I have NO CLUE when my opinion of Tessa changed, but I know that it was the middle of the third when Hardin finally made sense. It came out of nowhere too. I was just reading along minding my own business and WHAM, all of a sudden I found myself thinking "Huh, wow I finally get Hardin... I get all his rash decisions, his outburst, and how his attitude is zero dark crazy." Then I found myself saying "What the HELL did I just say?!?"
Both the writing style and character development in this final book is both leaps and bounds above the other three. Both Hardin and Tessa reached me on a level they never had in the previous books. After Ever Happy, like the others in this series, still had a crazy cluster of a storyline, was still covered in flaws, and still had no real structure to it. I can without a doubt say that the After Series is one of the most pointless things I've ever read, yet I have no regrets about how addicted I was to it. AEH had me laughing, had me on the edge of my seat, and even had me shedding a few tears... Yeah I might have cringed a little too hearing myself saying that, but hell I just read close to 3000 pages of one direction based fanfiction, what do I really have left to be embarrassed about... So I'll say it again; a few tears were shed while reading this! Get off my case! Jeez.
I think the thing that AEH had going for it was that of all four it was the "most realistic". With more touching and real topics happening throughout, and more human reactions were given in response to each issue. The After Series turned out to be one of the biggest surprises I've had in my reading history. I completely agree with all negative and positive comments, statements, and reviews ever written about this series, because it is everything everyone has ever said about it. It's annoying, unhealthy, romantic, comical, addictive, and so much more... But damn it if I didn't fall for it even though for some reason I still can't stand it. I still can't manage to figure out what happened to me or when my opinion changed... But Anna Todd I'm pretty sure you've won me over... Maybe, I truly don't fully know.
If it wasn't for the last half of the epilogue I might have given this book a five star rating, but sadly something about the last few pages rubbed me the wrong way. But, I guess all terribly good quality pleasure reads must come to some kind of end, and I was overall happy with this one.
Turn on the TV for background noise, grab a jar of peanut butter, and make yourself comfortable, because once you grab a hold of this series you'll be in for the long haul.

The fourth book in the 'After' series, 'After Ever Happy' is the first book in the series that had a different "feel" to it. Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of dramatic shenanigans between Tessa and Hardin. However, this time around they aren't the sole focus of the book. The result is a much more somber vibe.
After everything that went down at the end of the third book, Tessa is left markedly changed from the girl she was before. Those tragic events forced her to take a long, hard look at her relationship with Hardin. She finally faces the facts -- they're toxic.
Despite her love for Hardin, she knows that she needs to get away from him. Like the clichéd saying, "sometimes love isn't enough". Nothing could be more true for this dysfunctional couple at that point in time.
Even though Hardin comes to his senses and does his best to get Tessa to forgive him, it won't come easy this time around. Tessa has made up her mind and it will take years for Hardin to prove himself to her. It was long overdue.
With Tessa and Hardin living separate lives for most of this book, the story definitely had a different feel to it than earlier books. As much as it was what the logical me said needed to happen, the illogical part of me couldn't help but feel like this new direction wasn't as captivating. After all, this series' entire guilty pleasure appeal was based on the very same things that made this couple such a train wreck -- fighting, angst, jealousy, breaking up and making up. With those elements largely missing from this book, I didn't feel the same pull to the story.
That being said, I think that the author had used up all of the major angst-ridden story elements that readers could handle. Although the loss of this drama resulted in a slightly less engaging story for me, I don't think I could've handled another book full of Tessa and Hardin's back and forth fighting. This series has left me emotionally exhausted and I just don't have it in me.
Luckily, Tessa and Hardin do get the HEA eventually. It was long overdue and I was glad to see it. Finally, they have started to mature and deal with some of the issues in their relationship. As much as I loved to hate this couple, I have to admit that if there was ever a couple that stuck it out, it was them. Talk about hanging in there for better or worse.
Overall, this was still a great read. I have been completely hooked on Tessa and Hardin's story right from the start. It was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster ride. I feel content, but emotionally drained. I know that there are two remaining books in this series, but I'm stopping with this one for now. I don't want to upset the balance. I'm feeling content with how this book ended and I'm not sure I could handle it right now if something disrupted that peace.

Well here we are. Literally like, 3,000 pages later and this God-forsaken series is finally over. I know that it still seems like lunacy that I would finish this series even though they're literally worse than garbage, and trust me - I'm scratching my head at this myself. Of all the series for me to decide to ACTUALLY finish, I chose this one? I have no priorities, clearly. But what's done is done, and these books are blessedly in that category.
This whole book was like running uphill - you don't want to do it and you're not sure why you started in the first place but you push on because you feel you have something to prove and even though it was a dumb idea you feel like you accomplished something when you reach the top because it was the worst decision you've made in a while and you clearly didn't look at your life and your choices.
You all probably know what types of things I'm going to have to say here, making this review redundant, however I owe it to myself to write down only a handful of the many, MANY reasons this book is worth no one's time and how it actually makes you dumber by reading it. There will be spoilers, and none of you will care because you have higher reading standards and aren't ashamed of yourselves every time you look at your recently read books and see these atrocities listed there.
Without further ado, let's bash this book:
- How dare Anna Todd spend so much time with two characters who clearly have no intelligent thoughts in their heads? These books were written entirely from within Tessa and Hardin's head, and since neither Hardin or Tessa have enough brain cells to even rub together, there was LITERALLY NOTHING TO TALK ABOUT. Introspection is only a good plot device when characters aren't pieces of crap, and when they're developing as a result of events. Since nothing ever HAPPENS in these books, there's no way for them to be growing and/or changing, so all we get is stagnant crap about souls and poor uses of the "love is a battlefield" metaphor (which was already poor at best, so you can imagine what joys lay in store for me as a reader as I went through this).
- #srstalk Tessa's descriptions of depression and mental health kind of offended me. It really seemed to cheapen the seriousness of these issues by being 100% taken from a textbook and/or BuzzFeed article describing symptoms and behaviours. As someone working through their own depression, I was uncomfortable with how casually it was thrown around and was even more mad than usual at this ridiculously stupid girl who needs to get her head out of her own butt and just GROW UP.
- Tessa constantly apologized for "not being able to fix" Hardin, making me unsure who I hated more: a girl who clearly has no idea how to be an adult and who always has to make everything about her and everyone's perceptions of her, or a boy who is so destructive to himself and others that there's LITERALLY NO WAY he wouldn't be in jail or forcibly admitted to a hospital of some kind to receive treatment for his mental health and anger issues. Like, they're both so unfathomably unlikable it HURTS
- Hardin's only memories of Tessa seem to involve her having sex with him. He literally doesn't seem to have a single fond memory that has anything to do with her as a person or her interests. His only interest is in her body and having sex with it, and if that isn't objectifying women and painting yourself as a chauvinist pig I don't know what is. And Todd seems to think this is a romantic ideal? Grrl, these opinions of men and excusing this type of behaviour is the reason so many women find themselves unable to leave bad relationships because you're telling them this is a good thing. Like ohmylife how can ANYONE even with this book?
- It was beyond infuriating to have both Hardin and Tessa constantly making themselves out to be the victim, but especially Hardin. It is always literally 100% his fault. Example: Karen's pregnant and he makes this into a "the world hates me because I'm too fucked up and this is my punishment" thing. WHY CAN'T YOU OWN UP TO EVEN ONE THING AND JUST ADMIT THE WORLD ISN'T COMPLETELY UNFAIR OT YOU AND THAT YOU'RE A RIDICULOUS PERSON?! IT'S NOT ALWAYS ABOUT YOU DICK WAD. ANNA TODD YOU'RE THE WORST BECAUSE NOW I'M YELLING AT FICTIONAL CHARACTERS.
- Hardin's idea of compromise is to offer Tessa space only if she'll marry him. The conversation went something like this: "If I give you space that you are entitled to and clearly need because you're deranged, you HAVE to MARRY ME". "Yeah, OK, good trade, good talk, that works for me". What a majestic display of great communication, cooperation, and healthy relationships #lovingthatconcept
- Tessa tells Hardin over and over "I need to get away for a while, we spend too much time together and we need a clean break." In the real world, a clean break would mean no contact and "getting away for a while" would probably be a couple of months with you never coming back because that's how normal people tend to heal (there are exceptions, but I'm ignoring them right now for the purposes of being beyond frustrated with these books). In the After universe, "going away for a while" is like, 5 weeks and involves constant contact and lots of random sex as a means of "healing wounds" what even is that. The best part? She tried to make it seem like they were apart for like, 5 years #grrlplz
- Hardin proceeds to write a book about their relationship and, surprise surprise, calls it After, and this is where I really lost it. I cannot believe Todd tried to make this book all meta and crap by putting her books inside the books. YOU ARE NOT TALENTED ENOUGH OR INTERESTING ENOUGH FOR THAT. And THEN, on top of THAT, Hardin's book is so immensely popular and all the publishers are fighting for it and everyone wants to read it and are freaking out about it, making this a sad wish fulfillment fantasy a la Twilight and I just got so like, sad because it all just feels so pathetic and I'm rolling my eyes and clutching my face and mumbling "please no, this can't actually be published and available for purchase, what am I doing with my life?" Why can't Todd just write a book that doesn't suck balls and then move on with her life? Harden also describes the book as being about self recovery, and then in the next book tells Tessa they helped each other. How does that even work? If it's self recovery shouldn't you be doing it on your own? WHY DOES NO ONE UNDERSTAND BOOKS IN THIS AFTER UNIVERSE. And Tessa FREAKS OUT about this book even though, for once, Hardin isn't saying ONLY crappy things about her. GRRL YOU ARE SO DUMB I CAN'T.
- Nobody speaks the way that Hardin and Tessa speak to each other. Literally no one. It's like they know they have an audience and feel the need to put on a play that no one would be willing to pay for or would even stay halfway through, and then here I am still reading it because I have no self-respect at all.
- Hardin became an advocate for self-recovery? Really? Is that even a thing? I'm really just phoning it in at this point, we've moved so far past anything remotely good that it's a struggle to remember this won't be the last book I'll ever read and books aren't actually all garbage.
- WHO WAS LANDON'S FIANCEE/WIFE AND WHY DID THEY ALWAYS REFER TO HER SIMPLY AS "LANDON'S BRIDE"? YOU CAN'T THROW STUFF LIKE THAT IN AND NOT EXPLAIN IT.
- I ONLY READ THIS BOOK LOOKING FOR A TEEN PREGNANCY. YOU'RE DOING IT RAW EVERY FOUR PAGES AND THEN MAKE IT DIFFICULT TO CONCEIVE? HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO ME?! WHAT A COP OUT! IF YOU'RE SUCH AN EXPERT ON RELATIONSHIPS, MENTAL HEALTH, AND MEN, WHY DON'T YOU DO SOME MORE BUZZFEED RESEARCH AND BECOME A PREGNANCY EXPERT SO THAT I CAN AT LEAST READ SOMETHING SO RIDICULOUS IT'S HILARIOUS? YOU'RE THE WORST. THE MISCARRIAGE? GLOSSING OVER THAT? REALLY? AND THEN SHE JUST GETS PREGNANT SO EASILY AND THAT'S THAT I CANNOT!
- WHY DID YOU PACE THESE BOOKS HORRIBLY FROM START TO FINISH? YOU DRAG EVERYTHING OUT FOR BOOKS AND BOOKS AND THEN #JOKES LET'S JUST SPEED THROUGH THEIR RIDICULOUS LIFE TOGETHER - WHICH YOU SHOULD HAVE DONE IN THE FIRST PLACE.
- WHY IS PAPA HARDIN WEARING TIGHT BLACK JEANS - AS A DAD?
- WHY DID YOU HAVE TO RUIN THE NAME EMERY FOR ME?
- WHY DID THE WHOLE WEDDING/MARRIAGE THING TAKE SO LONG? YOU LITERALLY DON'T KNOW HOW TO WRITE A COMPELLING NOVEL AT ALL.
I'm just exhausted with these books and so happy it's over.

Here I am! Finishing history’s one of the toxic, dysfunctional, passionate, hopeless but interestingly inseparable, devoted couple and their push-pull, extremely angsty, destructive, intense love story!
I thought after all they went through: their story could be ended with a murder! Happy ending doesn’t seem like on the cards for them!
I have to confess, I was planning to skip this series at first. I looked at the long page numbers and I found it too long for YA romance series but eventually I got bored and watched the first movie on Netflix and the second one on Amazon. Casting was horrible instead of Charlie Weber as Christian Vance ( I adore him as an addicted How to get away with murder fan) But interestingly I got curious what will happen to those characters and who will kill each other first! ( my vote is for Tessa! She has all the vindictive potential and bitchy powers)
I couldn’t wait the upcoming movies which will be probably worse than first two. So I bought the last two books, popcorn, red wine, entering the toxicology zone of annoying couple!
Yeap, the facts didn’t change: Hardin is still selfish, arrogant, abusive douchebag! And Tessa is not bright, sunshine and flowers girl. Her inner bitch and jealousy slowly replaces with sweet girl next door and she turns into more annoying doormat at each chapter.
Third book has the same formula with the previous ones: Hardin makes a dicky move. Tessa gets mad. And Hardin comes back, showing his di*k and Tessa forgives her!
So I wanted to skip writing a review for third one which will probably unpopular review and the fans of couple will want to crucify me! No thanks, Holly nails will not suit my outfit.
But I have to admit: I liked the fourth book. Yes! I truly did! At the beginning there were still angsty, irritating, oh no he cannot go that far , wow he actually did moments! Hardin classically made his dickiest move and won the worst detesting human waste award! And finally Tessa gave up after ten thousand dicky moves later! She realizes a man who cannot want to be saved, is doomed to go to hell!
And a terrible tragedy shakes her to the core! But interestingly both characters act like they just get illuminated after this big tragedy! They start to act like normal romance couple, more mature to start a conversation! Hardin acted like he’d removed his extra douche characteristics with a surgery and Tessa stopped being self destructive cry baby and wore big girl pants to see how her life would be without Hardin.
I wish Hardin could grovel for years like Florentino Ariza who was waiting for his love of his life for 50 years on Love in the time of Cholera! Yeap, I think douchebag never deserves a girl like Tessa but unfortunately she loves him so much and I’m addicted to the HEAs!
And I liked the conclusion of the story. Not only for couple Tardin but also for the other characters who found their own HEAs!
I know I will passionately hate the adaptation of last book so I advise you to read the book or forget the entire installment.
I’m giving my four finally finished and the characters gathered their senses not to act like spoiled brats stars! And getting out of here, singing “I’m addicted to you, that you know you’re toxic?”! Well said Britney!

Alright.... I made it!! 🤗 It was rough- but I made it through all four books. This is the equivalent of binge watching all seasons of Jersey Shore. I’m embarrassed to even admit that I got sucked into this trash world- but I totally did. Each book ‘cliff hanger’ left me needing to read the next one. I couldn’t stop. 🤷🏼♀️ Even when I was rolling my eyes and ready to give up, I just had to know what would happen with these two damaged people.

I kinda predicted that Hardin’s dad wasn’t really Kent. They set up a predictable little boy who acted and looked like Hardin- his little brother- of course. Then Hardin lights his moms house on fire?! Goes off the deep end and ditches her in another country?! What happened in the first part of this book was, in my opinion, unforgivable. 🤬😡 She should not have even spoke to him after that.
I guess Tessa stood her ground (kinda) and did her own thing away from him (which was kinda good) for a couple years. But this ending had me rolling my eyes. 🙄 Wrapped up in a cute little bow?! I almost feel like it would have been a better ending for them not to have ended up together. 🤔
Anyway, I’m moving on from this drama filled series!! Hooray!! I’ve had people ask me why I’d keep reading if it was such a struggle. It’s extremely rare that I don’t finish a book once I start. And as stated, I needed to know how this saga ended. Overall this book is HOT!! 🔥🔥🔥 these types of books are a guilty pleasure of mine and I do read them from time to time. It’s very steamy and if you’re into that kinda read (and have a lot of patience)- I’d definitely recommend this. ❤️📚

So I finally made my way to the last book, and I managed to give this crazy couple its end.
The first three books got from me five big stars, because no matter how stupid Hardin and Tessa behaved, the chemistry was always strong and the plot made me keep reading and reading. I'm not tired of them, and I guess the proof of that is that I read this series 4 times.
But somehow... I never managed to start reading the last book. Idk, maybe I was just afraid to break up with this couple, that I learned to love so much.
Anyway, I was expecting more from this book. It felt like towards the end, Anna Todd was just trying to finish writing it as fast as possible... The time jumps annoyed me. But despite everything, I was so happy for this couple who managed to get their good ending.

November 1, 2020This was definitely the best book out of the four, still not great, but definitely the best of the bunch. I found this one to be a bit less problematic and I did enjoy some of the time jump moments at the end. Would probably rate this a 2 stars, but since I didn’t rate the other books I’m just gonna keep consistent and not do a star rating for this one too!

I’ve just finished After Series by Anna Todd and I am NOT OKAY ☹
I’ve spent 34 days with these characters and their toxic as fuck relationship. It was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster that left me physically drained.
I LIVED for this story and my life will never be the same without Hardin & Tessa Invading my every thought.
The ending was PERFECTION.
Old school angst at its best and I could kick myself in the crotch for taking so long to read them.

I can't believe it's over! What a rollercoaster! I didn't like this one as much because I wanted more from the epilogues, and when I say more, I mean like I want a whole book about all of that stuff! There just wasn't enough! This book also felt a lot different to the first three and I think it's because they spent a lot of time apart, but nonetheless I am so glad I gave this series a shot because I just love it!

NOTA IMPORTANTE
La reseña de abajo la escribí en el 2015. Estoy releyendo la saga para hacer un vídeo en mi canal, así que si quieren ver mi opinión actualizada, estén pendientes de la notificación de ese vídeo. La calificación la dejo igual para recordar lo que Isa del pasado pensaba, jajaja.

Este libro fue tan adictivo como fueron los otros o, quizá, un poco más porque devoraba las páginas para llegar pronto al final y ver si Anna Todd resolvía toda esta relación de Hardin y Tessa de una manera creíble. Y bueno, para mí el desenlace fue bastante interesante, por decirlo de alguna manera. Es decir, te esperas lo que va a pasar pero no de la manera en que, efectivamente, pasa. O al menos eso me pareció a mí, jajajaja.
Pero vamos a la trama. Amor infinito empieza en medio del lío en que Hardin y Tessa están metidos en Londres cuando él se entera de quién es su verdadero padre. Obviamente Hardin reacciona a su manera y empieza a mandar a todas y cada una de las personas que lo rodean al quinto pino... con todas las consecuencias que esto tiene: pelea con Tessa, la deja de lado, intenta apartarla y... al parecer funciona.
Este libro nos muestra el punto de quiebre de la caótica relación de estos dos que, a decir verdad, siempre ha sido bastante complicada. En Amor Infinito ambos personajes llegan al límite de lo que podían soportar por el otro y deciden que, por las buenas o por las malas, las cosas tienen que cambiar. Se dicen un montón de verdades y reflexionan al darse cuenta de que su relación tóxica ya no sólo los estaba afectando a ellos sino a todas las personas a su alrededor.
¿Lo que más me gustó del libro? La evolución de Tessa y Hardin que, ¡por fin!, deciden darle un vuelco a sus vidas y tratar de enderezarlas de la mejor manera posible, así eso implique separarse durante mucho tiempo. ¡Que ya era sano, vamos! Y, precisamente por ser la evolución lo que más me gusta, mi parte favorita del libro es el último tercio donde vemos que los dos han madurado, han dejado las peleas para cambiarlas por charlas, se dan su espacio, se respetan y se aman más que nunca.
Amor Infinito tiene muchíííísimo más drama que los tres libros que lo preceden, pero es necesario para ver el contraste y el cambio que dan los protagonistas en esta historia. Y bueno, ¿del final qué puedo decir? Me gustó bastante. Sí, es cursi; sí, es acaramelado; sí, es un final feliz (vamos, ¿quién no se lo esperaba?); y sí, es hasta cierto punto gracioso... pero le pega al libro y a la dirección que estaba tomando la historia. Bonus: mientras leía las páginas del epílogo no podía evitar que se me salieran unos "awwww" porque hay cosas demasiado tiernas.

Audiobook... Hoopla has these books.
“After Ever Happy”, ... book 4....is the best of the series.....
which picked up right where book 3 - “After We Fell”, left off. A satisfying conclusion - but not until we take a different train ride from the first three books.
I can’t believe I read all 4 of these books....
Book 2 - “After We Collided”, is the weakest.
Finished this one yesterday during a walk of 8 miles.
One of the themes that stands out for me was:
“Life is Ok....vs. Life is deeply exhilarating be satisfying”.
I think most of us become satisfied- can function with - life being ok.
Experiencing deep satisfaction and joy ... the kind of happiness that feels aligned - or beyond our ideal dreams is more rare.
Some of us have golden treasure memories of specific times - maybe even
lasting a few years— HIGH ON LOVE AND LIFE....( having nothing to do with material things or fancy vacations).., but out of this world inner joy...
I think that’s much harder to sustain.
But... how many people dare fight for their own deep happiness? Especially as they age?
Or is more that we become skillful at things are ok?
I’ll never recommend these books to my very mature intelligent adult friends... but I enjoyed the escape — the audiobook doing its thing - side by side - while I did my things....
walks, laundry, cleaning, cooking, pool soaking, or sauna listening...
I just enjoyed my private time with in Hardin and Tessa’s world.

¿ME PARECE LA SAGA AFTER MACHISTA?
After 4 es la última entrega de la tetralogía After. Como sabréis After empezó como un fanfic de One Direction en Wattpad que pronto se hizo viral y tuvo muchísimos seguidores. Por eso se publicó en papel (con grandes cambios y retoques según tengo entendido) y eso ha hecho que la tetralogía se haga incluso más famosa y tenga más seguidores. Las anteriores novelas de After me gustaron mucho dentro del género en el que están. Esta cuarta me ha decepcionado un poco y ha dejado mucho que desear.
Empezando por el género de After siempre comento que está en el género juvenil vacío de contenido literario pero con una gran capacidad de enganche para hacer que la gente joven empiece a leer. Ese es sin duda el valor más importante que veo en esta saga. After 4 también cumple esta función, pero deja mucho que desear.
La trama de After se me hizo pesada ya en esta cuarta parte. La relación entre Tessa y Hardin está ya tan quemada y tan vista en las anteriores entregas que en esta el lector se aburre con ellos. Es lo de siempre y es totalmente predecible todo lo que ocurre. Si bien en las anteriores entregas tenía su punto las peleas que mantenían y las rupturas por las que pasaban, en esta cuarta parte ya está demasiado visto.
Aún así After 4 engancha bastante, tiene ese punto que tienen todas las novelas de la tetralogía. Pero decepciona su trama y algo más, su final.
No me han gustado nada las cien últimas páginas de la novela. Me parecen bastante malas, tienen un ritmo frenético y de pronto ocurre todo lo que no ha ocurrido en cuatro libros. No me gustan los saltos en el tiempo, no me gusta que ocurra todo del tirón, no me gusta cómo acaba y no me gusta cómo está escrito.
El final me ha parecido mal escrito y mal sobrellevado. Es increíble que en toda la saga no pase nada más que peleas entre Hardin y Tessa y que de pronto en cien páginas pasen miles de cosas que hubieran ocupado cuatro libros enteros.
Respecto al machismo en estas novelas. Me parece mucho MÁS importante el machismo que se desprende del ambiente en el que se encuadra la novela que Hardin en sí. Me parece machista que Tessa y la pareja del padre de Hardin solo se preocupen por hacer pastelitos y limpiar; que Tessa no se sienta una mujer independiente ni completa sin su novio; que Hardin controle cada cosa que haga y parezca normal y, sobre todo, que se refleje una sociedad heteropatriarcal normalizada y que se transmita a las generaciones jóvenes actuales.
Al final el problema, bajo mi punto de vista, ya no es el personaje de Hardin en sí, sino la normalización de un conjunto de cosas que crean una sociedad en la que la mujer está sometida y reducida a una serie de tareas entre las que se encuentra peinarse, estar guapa, limpiar y hacer pasteles.
¿Me parece Anna Todd machista? Creo que Anna Todd es tan poco feminista como casi todas las mujeres a las que nos educan en una sociedad heteropatriarcal. No es justo culpar a las mujeres de ser machistas. Nosotras NO creamos esta educación y nosotras NO queremos ser sometidas. Nunca he estado de acuerdo con el hecho de que las mujeres somos machistas. Toda mujer que abre los ojos se vuelve feminista y busca la igualdad. Y sí, la novela que ha escrito Anna Todd es MUY machista en MUCHAS cosas; pero no entremos en si Anna Todd lo es o no.
El problema de todo esto es que no solo existe en After, sino prácticamente en toda la literatura juvenil. En toda la literatura juvenil se nos vende el amor romántico y la dependencia de la mujer hacia el magnífico y encantador hombre del que se enamora.
En resumen, la saga After es sin duda una de las sagas más comerciales que he leído en mi vida. Son novelas escritas (o reescritas) para ser vendidas como churros y no aportar nada nuevo a la literatura. Enganchan mucho, pueden conseguir que mucha gente empiece a leer, pero no tiene un contenido literario bueno ni destacable. Son libros para pasar el rato y entretenerte. Y ciertamente podrían haberse quedado en dos o tres tomos.
After 4 es la última entrega de la tetralogía After. Como sabréis After empezó como un fanfic de One Direction en Wattpad que pronto se hizo viral y tuvo muchísimos seguidores. Por eso se publicó en papel (con grandes cambios y retoques según tengo entendido) y eso ha hecho que la tetralogía se haga incluso más famosa y tenga más seguidores. Las anteriores novelas de After me gustaron mucho dentro del género en el que están. Esta cuarta me ha decepcionado un poco y ha dejado mucho que desear.
Empezando por el género de After siempre comento que está en el género juvenil vacío de contenido literario pero con una gran capacidad de enganche para hacer que la gente joven empiece a leer. Ese es sin duda el valor más importante que veo en esta saga. After 4 también cumple esta función, pero deja mucho que desear.
La trama de After se me hizo pesada ya en esta cuarta parte. La relación entre Tessa y Hardin está ya tan quemada y tan vista en las anteriores entregas que en esta el lector se aburre con ellos. Es lo de siempre y es totalmente predecible todo lo que ocurre. Si bien en las anteriores entregas tenía su punto las peleas que mantenían y las rupturas por las que pasaban, en esta cuarta parte ya está demasiado visto.
Aún así After 4 engancha bastante, tiene ese punto que tienen todas las novelas de la tetralogía. Pero decepciona su trama y algo más, su final.
No me han gustado nada las cien últimas páginas de la novela. Me parecen bastante malas, tienen un ritmo frenético y de pronto ocurre todo lo que no ha ocurrido en cuatro libros. No me gustan los saltos en el tiempo, no me gusta que ocurra todo del tirón, no me gusta cómo acaba y no me gusta cómo está escrito.
El final me ha parecido mal escrito y mal sobrellevado. Es increíble que en toda la saga no pase nada más que peleas entre Hardin y Tessa y que de pronto en cien páginas pasen miles de cosas que hubieran ocupado cuatro libros enteros.

FINALLY FINISHED THIS SERIES! what an emotional rollercoaster. I actually really enjoyed this one. It was my favorite out of them all. Each book was better than the last. Quite an intense love story they've got. Loved the epilogue.. VERY CUTE!

All The Stars!!!
And so the series reaches it’s final stretch and it was a very anticipated (and much dreaded) one, I struggled with dying to know what would happen in the end and not wanting this to be over. Even as I write this review, 2 weeks after having finished reading After Ever Happy, I miss Tessa and Hardin like the day I turned the last page.
First things first, this review has spoilers for the first three books but I will avoid anything spoilery for the last book because everyone deserves to suffer… errr I mean experience this book first hand like I did.

I don’t even know where to start guys, even thinking about putting down my thoughts and feelings about this book makes my eyes fill up with tears.
From the moment this book landed on my doorstep I knew I was officially checking out until I was finished reading.
I think all in all I got about 4 hours of sleep in the span of 62 hours.
We left off in England, where Trish and Mike are about to get married and Hardin not only walks right into Vance reacquainting himself with Trish but stumbles also into a huge family secret that changes his entire life and shutters the bit of trust he had on others. The news gives him that last push over the edge.
My next thoughts were naturally, Tessa is with Hardin in England and even through this devastation she will be his rock. He will find solace in her. After all, he has been doing so good in controlling his anger and thinking before acting... But then again we are talking Hardin here, why would he ever do what's expected or what makes sense... What transpires in the pages after Vance's big revelation left me literally shaking in what I can only call total and utter disbelief and anger.
I went through several stages at this point. My first reaction was wanting to punch Hardin repeatedly, because I just couldn't believe he was being so stupid and cruel! How could he be so cruel!?
Tessa can be infuriating at times and I swear she sometimes makes choices that you can't help but think she is purposely testing Hardin's limits but she didn't deserve to have, once again, her heart ripped out of her chest and stomped all over.
At this point, I couldn't comprehend what was happening, I seriously had to take a break to regroup.
When Tessa heads back to Washington, I felt completely empty and lost, I don't think I was even angry anymore, I was numb. My heart was broken into tiny little pieces and once again I felt there was little that could be done to mend things. People have their limits and love and trust can only be pushed so far before it breaks permanently.
Things go from bad to worse for both Tess and Hardin. Hardin sees, a little too late, that this path of self-loathing and self-sabotaging is not only wrong but unfair, because it hurts the people who love him.
It takes terrible circumstances for Hardin to snap out of his stupidity and try to go get the girl he loves, but sadly this time Tessa may really be done with the back and forth with Hardin.
My worst fear coming true and I was almost breaking. The moment they would realize that they were just not good for each other had haunted me from book 1, and everything seemed to be going that direction.
and my answer was always NO! I don't know how that feels but yet I was experiencing it as what felt first hand and I just couldn't stop crying, my cheeks were tear stricken the whole time and I think I have warped the pages on my book.
I would love to go into more detail about the conclusion of this series and the end of the book but I feel that if I did I would be cheating you of experiencing one of the most emotional endings I have ever read in a series.
What I can tell you though is that the anguish and complete wreck of emotions never lets go it goes on til the very last page.
I couldn't believe Anna was doing this to my heart, I thought I wouldn't make it to the end.
So much growth for both Tessa and Hardin. It took them going through so much pain to get through the issues they had with themselves, even if it may have ended up costing them their relationship.
Whether Tessa and Hardin end up together in the end...well that's for you to find out. I personally walked into this book with doubts as to whether that would be the case, and what I can say is that I was happy with the way Anna wrapped things up, it was real and it made you think and value what they once had and what it became throughout the course of all 4 books. I think Anna took chances when she wrote the end and for that I thank her because I don't think After will leave me any time soon.
I have the hugest series hangover ever, the last one I had was when I finished reading The Infernal Devices, funny I would suffer two major hangovers at the hands of a Tessa.
I was out of commission the next day while I processed my feelings.
It was worth every single tear shed, every minute spent cursing Hardin out, every single frustrated text to my besties, and every single minute waiting between books!

What a train wreck of a series. What a train wreck of a relationship.
“When you love people, you don’t let them destroy you along with themselves, you don’t allow them to drag you through the mud. You try to help them, try to save them, but the moment that your love is one-sided or selfish, if you keep trying, you are a fool.”
Tessa, you said this and Tessa you are a fool.
I hate the romanticisation of abusive relationships and I hate that they ended up together.
Anna does a good job of writing a female who has been sucked in by an abusive, narcissistic sociopath to the point that they question their own behaviour and feel like they’re the problem. I would have loved this book to have had Tessa actually be recommended therapy and have gone to therapy to be able to leave this abusive clusterfuck of a relationship and hightail it out of there and not eventually go back to Hardin.
Also, of course Zed had to be made into a bad guy with only one thing on his mind. But that’s only okay for a character to be if his name is Hardin.
Moral of the story: give up everything for an abusive POS so he can have you (and your dreams) just so you can have him.
“I’m sorry that I couldn’t fix you,” I tell him while softly stroking his damp hair.
“Me, too,” he cries against my legs.”

Surprising!
I liked the ending. I almost never like it when a book goes into the future and shows the couple five or more years down the line, but in this case I really enjoyed the afterward that showed how Hardin and Tessa ended up.
I didn’t really like the middle of the book which I thought wasn’t very realistic given their relationship. I can see Tessa going to New York and getting away from Hardin for a while to be independent and learn to be on her own a bit after some of the things he did to her. Even though he had stepped up and improved himself so much since then and showed so much growth in handling volatile situations, I could still see her reasons.
But their love is so tragic and epic and consuming, that I expected things to work out differently than they did. Since when did Tessa start caring what people thought? She was with Hardin from the beginning knowing that people thought he was just using her and he didn’t date. And Tessa came out smelling like a rose for pulling him out of the gutter. Overall I liked the book and it is a good wrap up to the series.
And whooohoo! No screaming cliffhanger!

this is what you do when you love someone: you fight for him—you chase after him when you know he needs you. You help him fight the battle against himself, and you never give up on him, even when he gives up on himself.

“after ever happy”
do you know who wasn’t happy? right, it was me. this book is about nothing, pointless, with bland characters and idiotic main protagonists. the plot stopped exist already in the second book and it was disappointing anyway.
and it’s stretched 1000 pages more than needed. i’m actually glad that i read it as a younger or my brain cells would die today.

Well, the journey is over and I really liked this book. I didn’t know how Anna was going to convince me with the Tessa and Hardin HEA, but she did. The time they spent apart was crucial for Hardin. For Tessa too, but Hardin desperately needed it. So, here we go… (some spoilers ahead).
This book starts where the other left off, still in London. Harry finds out that Christian is his biological father and Christian tells him what happened between him and Trish (Hardin’s mother). I’m not going to tell the story but the main thing is that Trish had an affair with Christian behind Ken’s back. Important to note that Ken and Christian were best friends since childhood. Apparently Christian always loved Trish but Ken swept her off her feet before him. But after some time Trish fell in love with him too and they started an affair. Hardin listens to all of this and is not dealing with it in the best way. But really, who can blame him? He went through hell during his childhood and that could have been prevented if this wouldn’t have been kept a secret for 21 years. Hardin calls Tessa after this conversation because he needs her to calm him down but she doesn’t pick up. He ends up in the bar Ken usually drank when Hardin was a child.
Tessa is obviously looking for Hardin because Kim also told her the truth. She eventually finds Hardin at the bar and he’s completely drunk. She has a hard time convincing him to leave with her but she manages to do that. The worst is that when Hardin spots his childhood house we wants to burn it to the ground. Tessa tries to reason with him but he’s completely wasted, so there is no point. She manages to call Christian and he goes there to help her calm Hardin. Nothing works and Hardin starts the fire. The good thing is that Christian manages to get Hardin and Tessa out of the house and tells some story to the police to save Hardin from any charges.
The next day, after some sleep, Tessa and Hardin eventually go to the hotel where Kim is with Smith (Hardin’s half-brother) and Hardin leaves to pick up Tessa’s clothes that are in their car at some restaurant nearby. The problem is that Hardin leaves the clothes at the hotel but disappears afterward. Tessa was expecting this because Hardin told her in the morning that she should go back to the States while he would stay in London. But you know that Tessa never gives up on Hardin and she tries to find him before her flight.
She actually finds him because someone answers Hardin’s phone and she goes to that address. Hardin is at a party with some of his old friends (you know, the ones with whom he played sick games and got drunk and high practically every single day). As you can guess he’s completely wasted and high and on top of that he has a girl hanging all over him and wearing his shirt. Well, obviously Tessa is absolutely speechless. She knows that this is a hard time for him but there’s no reason for him to react like this and it won’t help him solve his problems. Eventually her speech comes back and she’s furious with him. She even grabs the bottle of vodka from Hardin’s hand and throws it against the wall. That was priceless! They obviously fight with each other but there’s no point. Tessa realizes that no matter how many chances she gives him, their relationship won’t work if Hardin doesn’t believe in himself. She leaves him there and goes back home.
Tessa is determined to leave Hardin in the past and starts making plans. She buys a new phone and changes her number and decides she’s going to New York with Landon. Landon invited her to go with him and they’ll both start a new life. However, something really bad happens. Tessa goes to her apartment and finds She’s completely devastated and she spends almost a week in shock. She barely moves, eats, talks…. She even has some suicidal thoughts. Eventually her mother takes her home with her, and Noah (Tessa’s ex-boyfriend) really helps her in this difficult time.
After spending days completely wasted and high, Hardin finally picks up his phone. Landon tells him what happened and he finally gets back on his feet. Seriously Hardin, is it necessary for Tessa to go through a disaster for you to pull your act together? Grow up Hardin… He goes back to the States to support Tessa. The thing he didn’t expect was Tessa refusing him. She doesn’t want him near her. She wants him gone. She’s tired of everything he put her through and she’s exhausted. Hardin tries to explain her that he was wrong and this time he will do everything he can not to hurt her again. The problem is that Tessa has heard this speech too many times. Hardin ends up giving her some space but he doesn’t go far. He stays at Noah’s house in case Tessa needs something.
Hardin decides to call Zed (you know, that guy he hates) because he thinks he will help Tessa. Well, it works at the beginning, but after the , Zed asks Tessa if she really is over with Hardin. She tells him that they’re definitely over and Zed kisses Tessa. Well, obviously Tessa thought that this thing with Zed was settled and that he understood that she only wanted a friendship with him. But apparently, Zed didn’t get that… After the kiss Tessa runs from home and Hardin finds her in the middle of the road. Hardin is going back to his father’s (Ken) home and this is what Tessa needed. She goes back with him.
Tessa starts accepting what happened and is slowly going back to normal. Hardin doesn’t give up on Tessa and is constantly trying to remind her that he loves her and that they should get back together. He’s actually way more calm and collected and is starting to accept what happened in his early life. But he still has a long way to go…
Hardin finally forgives Ken for everything. It was a very emotional scene and I felt really bad for Ken. After all, Ken really loved Trish and was completely heartbroken when he found out about his wife’s affair with his best friend Christian. He stayed because of Hardin and because he loved Trish and was hopping she would leave Christian. He tried but eventually he started drinking and everything crumbled apart. Ken desperately needed Hardin forgiveness and I’m glad Hardin was able to give it to him.

They dragged too many people into their toxic relationship and it started to affect not only the lovebird’s life but everyone’s life around them. Tessa desperately needed this wake up call. She was going to move to New York with Landon but her resolution was slipping once again because of Hardin. Hardin is actually really trying this time. You can actually see the changes in him, but they really need some time apart or they will never figure their stuff out. Landon told her that they can’t travel the world breaking up and getting back together and if Hardin goes with her to New York it will just be another city where they’ll fight. This time they really need to be apart but with real space between them. Not that fucked up concept of space that happened when she went to Seattle and they barely went a day without seeing or talking to each other.
Some months pass and Tessa and Hardin are still giving some space to each other. Tessa is finally in New York with Landon and Hardin has been making amends with his fathers and his mother and is seeing a therapist to help him work his demons. Hardin is in his father’s (Ken) house but ends up spending some days in New York with Landon and Tessa because he has some work appointments. Hardin and Tessa reconnect but she’s still unsure of their relationship. And then Tessa finds out about the book Hardin has been writing.
After Tessa found out about the book Hardin wrote about their story, two years pass and we are at Landon’s weeding (with whom, we don’t know). We only know that during that time Tessa and Hardin only saw each other six times in which they always slept together. Apparently, the reason why she didn’t get back to Hardin two years ago, was because she didn’t want the attention she was going to get about the book. She thought she couldn’t forgive Hardin because of other people’s opinions. But then she realized she doesn’t care about what other people think about their relationship. She only cares about the opinions of the ones who love her. This is where they get back together again and for the last time.
From now on we have some epilogues, years pass, and we learn that Tessa decides to change her career. She planned Landon’s and Christian’s wedding and she really loved it. So, she leaves Vance publishing and starts working as a wedding planner in New York. And apparently after some years, she’s a success. Hardin becomes a New York Times bestseller author and Landon a fifth-grade teacher at a public school. Despite Tessa’s infertility problems she has a girl and a boy. I was really happy about this. They went through so much, I think they deserved their happily ever after.
However, in the epilogues I think Anna should have written a scene where everyone’s present: Hardin, Tessa, Ken (Hardin’s father), Karen, Landon, Christian (Hardin’s biological father) and everyone’s kids. I think a scene where everyone is present and happy would have been a very beautiful ending for the book.
One mystery remains, who the hell did Landon marry?
This book starts where the other left off, still in London. Harry finds out that Christian is his biological father and Christian tells him what happened between him and Trish (Hardin’s mother). I’m not going to tell the story but the main thing is that Trish had an affair with Christian behind Ken’s back. Important to note that Ken and Christian were best friends since childhood. Apparently Christian always loved Trish but Ken swept her off her feet before him. But after some time Trish fell in love with him too and they started an affair. Hardin listens to all of this and is not dealing with it in the best way. But really, who can blame him? He went through hell during his childhood and that could have been prevented if this wouldn’t have been kept a secret for 21 years. Hardin calls Tessa after this conversation because he needs her to calm him down but she doesn’t pick up. He ends up in the bar Ken usually drank when Hardin was a child.
Tessa is obviously looking for Hardin because Kim also told her the truth. She eventually finds Hardin at the bar and he’s completely drunk. She has a hard time convincing him to leave with her but she manages to do that. The worst is that when Hardin spots his childhood house we wants to burn it to the ground. Tessa tries to reason with him but he’s completely wasted, so there is no point. She manages to call Christian and he goes there to help her calm Hardin. Nothing works and Hardin starts the fire. The good thing is that Christian manages to get Hardin and Tessa out of the house and tells some story to the police to save Hardin from any charges.
The next day, after some sleep, Tessa and Hardin eventually go to the hotel where Kim is with Smith (Hardin’s half-brother) and Hardin leaves to pick up Tessa’s clothes that are in their car at some restaurant nearby. The problem is that Hardin leaves the clothes at the hotel but disappears afterward. Tessa was expecting this because Hardin told her in the morning that she should go back to the States while he would stay in London. But you know that Tessa never gives up on Hardin and she tries to find him before her flight.
She actually finds him because someone answers Hardin’s phone and she goes to that address. Hardin is at a party with some of his old friends (you know, the ones with whom he played sick games and got drunk and high practically every single day). As you can guess he’s completely wasted and high and on top of that he has a girl hanging all over him and wearing his shirt. Well, obviously Tessa is absolutely speechless. She knows that this is a hard time for him but there’s no reason for him to react like this and it won’t help him solve his problems. Eventually her speech comes back and she’s furious with him. She even grabs the bottle of vodka from Hardin’s hand and throws it against the wall. That was priceless! They obviously fight with each other but there’s no point. Tessa realizes that no matter how many chances she gives him, their relationship won’t work if Hardin doesn’t believe in himself. She leaves him there and goes back home.
Tessa is determined to leave Hardin in the past and starts making plans. She buys a new phone and changes her number and decides she’s going to New York with Landon. Landon invited her to go with him and they’ll both start a new life. However, something really bad happens. Tessa goes to her apartment and finds She’s completely devastated and she spends almost a week in shock. She barely moves, eats, talks…. She even has some suicidal thoughts. Eventually her mother takes her home with her, and Noah (Tessa’s ex-boyfriend) really helps her in this difficult time.
After spending days completely wasted and high, Hardin finally picks up his phone. Landon tells him what happened and he finally gets back on his feet. Seriously Hardin, is it necessary for Tessa to go through a disaster for you to pull your act together? Grow up Hardin… He goes back to the States to support Tessa. The thing he didn’t expect was Tessa refusing him. She doesn’t want him near her. She wants him gone. She’s tired of everything he put her through and she’s exhausted. Hardin tries to explain her that he was wrong and this time he will do everything he can not to hurt her again. The problem is that Tessa has heard this speech too many times. Hardin ends up giving her some space but he doesn’t go far. He stays at Noah’s house in case Tessa needs something.
Hardin decides to call Zed (you know, that guy he hates) because he thinks he will help Tessa. Well, it works at the beginning, but after the , Zed asks Tessa if she really is over with Hardin. She tells him that they’re definitely over and Zed kisses Tessa. Well, obviously Tessa thought that this thing with Zed was settled and that he understood that she only wanted a friendship with him. But apparently, Zed didn’t get that… After the kiss Tessa runs from home and Hardin finds her in the middle of the road. Hardin is going back to his father’s (Ken) home and this is what Tessa needed. She goes back with him.
Tessa starts accepting what happened and is slowly going back to normal. Hardin doesn’t give up on Tessa and is constantly trying to remind her that he loves her and that they should get back together. He’s actually way more calm and collected and is starting to accept what happened in his early life. But he still has a long way to go…

I can't believe it's over! Hessa's journey to the happy ending was way too long, passionate, sometimes painful and other times happy. I got to love Hardin and Tessa (especially Hardin), and the supporting characters too (Landon, Karen, Ken, etc...), but also there are some characters I hated (I hated Steph the most).
Things weren't easier in this book either, actually I was a little mad at Tessa, because she made Hardin wait so long to be together again (and forever). I did not like that! But beside that this book was a good closure to their love story.
P.S. I want to talk about One Direction, because this whole story started out as a 1D fanfiction. Honestly I never heard of these books before it was made into a movie, but I'm not gonna lie I used to liked 1D, but they better off solo in my opinion, and actually I prefer Zayn over Harry.

Merezco un premio por terminar de leer esta serie.
No me juzguen, ok háganlo, yo misma me estoy reprochando perder tanto tiempo en esta serie.
No me pregunten porque lo hice. Ni yo misma lo sé.
Tampoco me pregunten si me gusto. Tampoco lo sé.
Si, la historia, personajes, en general el libro no merece más de 1 estrella, pero si le estoy dando 2 es porque me engancho hasta el punto de hacerme terminar de leer todo el libro.

Este es el cuarto libro de la saga After, donde se cierran las historias entre ellas la historia de Hardin y Tessa. Al ser el cuarto podría ser el que hiciera estallar nuestros nervios y nos hiciera odiar o amar la saga definitivamente, pero para mí ha sido mejor que los anteriores (aunque no tanto como el primero).
Cómo no, Tessa y Hardin continúan con sus altibajos y siguen intentando averiguar cómo convivir y cómo ser mejores juntos, pero después de toda la movida que hubo en Almas perdidas (el libro que menos me gusto de la serie y con el cual estuve a nada de abandonarla), están muy ocupados pensando en muchas cosas externas y entre ellos otras tantas que ya no van bien. ¿Podrán hacer un último esfuerzo? ¿Podrán intentarlo de nuevo? O quizá esté todo perdido ya...(llegue a pensar en las ultimas 50 paginas que todo estaba perdido incluso en las ultimas 10 crees que no hay esperanza... no hay final feliz).
En el aspecto de los personajes la autora mejora un poco conforme van pasando las entregas, porque en el primer libro básicamente hablaba sólo de Tessa y Hardin y en el tercero y cuarto profundiza muchísimo más en las historias de los personajes secundarios. Conocemos más sobre Landon y su futuro, sobre los padres de Tessa y también los de Hardin... Es decir, se les quita algo de importancia a los personajes principales y se les suma a los demás, lo que hace que la lectura sea mucho más entretenida.
En lo referente a la evolución hay que comentar que en este libro es una lucha constante sobre como terminaran nuestros amados Hessa. Tessa ha dejado de ser por completo la chica perfecta y buena que era en el primer libro y ahora es mucho más segura, confiada y arriesgada. No tiene miedo de hacer muchas cosas aunque sepa que a Hardin le parecerán mal. Hardin, por otro lado, ya no es el imbécil y despreocupado que se liaba con la primera que pasaba y hacía sufrir a los demás por apuestas o por puro placer: ha aprendido de la mano de Tessa lo que es el amor y está dispuesto a dejar que ella arregle las partes de él que están muertas.
También hay una pequeña evolución en su relación, algo que no ocurría hasta entonces (como dije en la reseña de Almas perdidas). Ambos aprenden a decir basta e intentan conocerse y buscar sus límites para poder ser mejores en su relación juntos.
Este último libro es bastante menos denso que el tercero y por eso no se me ha hecho pesado, me ha parecido mucho más ligero y agradable de leer.
Durante todos los libros pasan muchas cosas en cada uno de ellos y por eso estamos atentos a la lectura constantemente y necesitamos leer más y más para saber qué ocurre, pero muchos de esos conflictos son bastante repetitivos y casi que podemos intuirlos.
En general es un buen final de saga, una saga con la que se me quedo un sabor dulce, que disfrute leer cada uno de estos libros y porque se perfectamente en que termina y como me encanta el final disfruto releerlos.

I am finally done with The After Series. Finally. After Ever Happy by Anna Todd is the last book in the After Series. I would write a detailed synopsis, but what is the point? If you have read the first three books then there is nothing new. The book begins with Hardin throwing a tantrum and destroying a bar. Then he decides to destroy his relationship with Tessa. He soon finds out that she is grieving a family member’s death, (trying to avoid spoilers) so he all of a sudden decides that he needs to be there for her. They go back and forth for about 400 pages. Hey, at least this book isn’t 800 pages like the last couple of books in the series. Then …The End. Yep, that is it.
At least I know how the series ends now. That is the one thing about this series…it is addicting. Is it good? Not by a long shot. One of the problems with the book is that I absolutely hate every single character with a passion. Everyone. Except for Landon…he is the only decent human being in the series. Everyone else is selfish, self-destructive…and idiotic. The “problems” that Tessa and Hardin get into just revolve around jealousy and them trying to hurt each other. It is abusive and toxic and this shouldn’t be romanticized in the slightest. This should be an example of what should not happen in a relationship. One of the worst things about this series is that Tessa and Hardin take a little break and all of a sudden, Hardin is a semi-decent human. That doesn’t happen and that is dangerous to tell teen and young adult women.
Now, the whole series is about 2800 pages total, not including the Before book. Throughout the 2800 pages. 70% is Hardin and Tessa destroying themselves, each other, and everyone around them. The other 29% is them having sex. The last 1% is Hardin and Tessa in the future. The ending jumps forward 2 years for a page or two, then jumps ahead another 2 years, then another 10 years. It is so disorganized and just a really rushed ending. This book series is for those who just love the drama because the positive aspects probably make up 20 pages out of 2800 pages.
You have now reached the aspect that pissed me off the most. The author compares #Hessa (insert eye-roll) to famous classic couples like Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth or Heathcliff and Catherine. NO. Just no. This book should not be compared to those literary classics. I don’t mind the references that took place at the beginning of the series, but then it just became too much for me. Well, I am thankfully done with the series. It was entertaining at times. But overall, it is just drama to pass the time. This series finale gets 1 out of 5 stars.
