I know what you're thinking. A 135-page book dedicated exclusively to blowjobs? Isn't that a bit excessive? Wouldn't a chapter have done the trick? I know, because I asked these very same questions when Going Down: The Instinct Guide To Oral Sex first came across my desk. I mean, how much could really be said about, what to most people, is generally a foreplay precursor to "the real thing"? Turns out the answer is, "plenty."
Essentially, this book is a Cliff Notes biology lesson on the care and handling of the male member and its surrounding hot spots, with a generous helping of humor to keep the information from becoming pedantic. Giving blow by blow accounts of different techniques used by real men and women, the authors suck the life out of any lingering misconceptions or fears any might have concerning male genitalia. Scientifically, sensually and humorously, it's all laid out for the curious reader, complete with cute little drawings and scattered liberally with fun statistics and trivia concerning man's real best friend (really, did you know that smokers have smaller erections due to blood constriction? It says so in this book!)
Going Down is also a very quick read, packed with helpful hints and sarcastic asides which in addition to bringing out the latent cocksucker in every open-minded man or woman, could also very well prepare the reader for his or her next encounter with the quick-witted juice bar bitches at the local gym. Though heavy on the gay perspective, its obvious that the authors intended for this book to be of valuable use to women as well as men. After all, if the point of Going Down is to break a few taboos and change a few minds about the importance of fellatio, every man benefits, whether gay or straight. I'd like to think my partners will benefit, too. Not that I needed the help...
