Enter this urban fantasy world with fallen angels, witches, vampires, and succubi, where shadows hold more than just empty promises of the night... Where there's smoke, there's hellfire.
Sonia is a succubus with one goal: stay off Hell’s radar. But when succubi start to die, including her sometimes lover, Jeannie, she’s drawn into battle between good and evil and a past that isn’t ready to let her go.
Fae is a blood witch turned vampire, running a tattoo parlor and trading her craft for blood. She notices that something isn’t right on the streets of her city. The denizens of Hell are restless.
With the aid of her nest mate, Perry, and his partner, Charley, she races against time before the next victim falls. The killer has a target in his sights, and Sonia might not live to see the dawn.
**Includes First Christmas: A Sigil Fire Holiday Story**
I’ve enjoyed some of Bishop’s sexy short stories before, but I was unfamiliar with her paranormal fiction, which seems to be her forte. This isn’t a terribly original urban fantasy story, but a steamy meant-to-be romance between powerful ladies always make for a compelling read.
At the start, we don’t know exactly who the main character is in this story. Fae, a vampire and user of blood magic, keeps dreaming about a beautiful red-haired woman in need of rescue from a dark entity that feels all too familiar. Fae struggles with her mixed heritage, knowing she needs darkness to survive, and she trades protective tattoos for a humane drink of blood from her clients. But then we actually meet Sonia—a model and uniquely powerful succubus who is destined to change Fae’s life.
The plot and mystery of this story is action-packed and flows off every page. It isn’t hard to follow—it’s a classic tale of angels versus demons, dark versus light, destiny versus choice. The drama at the beginning involving stripper succubi being picked off one by one wasn’t my favorite, since it never seemed to tie into the villain’s actual goal. It felt more mean-spirited and explicit than compelling. But when Fae and Sonia meet and we discover what they mean to one another, the stakes get higher and the action gets more intense. I ended the story in the edge of my seat.
If you tend to avoid non-con or rape storylines in your romance, you may shy away from this one. It isn’t explicit at all, but since the villain is a rapist and murderer of succubi, it can be a little hard to stomach. There’s also a lot of M/F flirting and seduction, and even though it is often a means to an end rather than actual romance, it still might an unpleasant surprise for strictly F/F readers.
In addition to the first book in the “Sigil Fire” series, this volume also includes the short story “First Christmas,” which is much sweeter and fluffier. It seemed familiar, and then I realized I had already read an edited version in last year’s Unwrap These Presents, a lesbian holiday anthology from Ylva. I definitely enjoy it more now that I have been introduced to Sonia, Fae, and their world.
This is a solid paranormal romance with a gritty urban setting, a steamy romance, and tons of potential for more stories. I’m eager to see what Fae and Sonia do next.
This book stars a succubus and a vampire/blood witch. And, depending if you consider someone with a POV as a star or not, others. One issue with this book is the huge number of POV's involved.
So - someone or something has been killing women - sucking them dry (of soul). Fairly quickly (as in immediately) it is realized that all of the women have at least one thing in common - all of them were supposed to be immortal - all of them are succubus demons (in the past I've seen people get around the question of 'what is the plural of succubus' but having singular or plural forms of demon; here, if I read things right, they go with succubi).
Several succubus demons pop up in this story - Jeannie, Gina, um, others, but most importantly - Sonia (one of the two main stars). Jeannie and Sonia were linked as 'almost girlfriends', though being succubi, both still needed to feed off of humans - though Sonia tried as hard as she could to limit her feeding. Gina and Sonia are linked as being friends. All but Sonia seemed to be there so they could pop in for a minute or two, say 'hi', then go and die. Ah sorry, forgot Charley. She's also a succubus, but unlike all the others (except for Sonia who works as a fetish model), Charley works as a homicide detective (the others work in either a strip club or strip clubs - we only seemed to see the one club so unclear).
Charley's partner is a vampire. And while both are in the story, pop up, do things, and stuff, neither are as important to the story as expected.
Then there's Fae - tattoo artist, lesbian, witch (blood), and - not to be forgotten - vampire. She's the other main character.
I was enjoying the book, liking most of the people I came across until something snapped. Not exactly sure what, exactly, but suddenly Fae's making mean nasty comments about everyone around her (mostly about the succubus demons) and other characters started doing mean things. And the story took a turn for the worse because of that. Oh right - Sonia, despite everything, suddenly started being flippant, and acting all 'I don't need to follow your advice, it's stupid' and stuff.
This is the fifth story I've read by Bishop, and the first separate thingie (all others were short stories in anthologies). I, in general, have liked the stories I've read, but had been reluctant to read a book by Bishop because there seemed to be about 8,000 of them (well, really "94 distinct works"), and many seemed to look, on the surface, like they might be MF. Or MM for that matter. So I was happy enough when I saw that Ylva had a sale going on based on Halloween - the second story in the series was free (and I picked it up immediately), and this one here was $0.99. I didn't pick it up immediately (for reasons - mostly involving how Ylva requires payment via Paypal (it's true you can 'use your credit card', it's still through Paypal, and I don't want anything to do with Paypal), but I eventually went ahead and got it.
There's a vague and weird connection to another series - that being Loreli Brown's Belladonna Ink series - mostly because both series seem to be internally linked (as in the stories inside the individual series) through tattoos (though I still don't see how exactly the first book in that Belladonna Ink series has anything really to do with ink, but whatever). Random thoughts that occur - two different lesbian series that appear to have stories that are linked based solely on ink (well, also being in the same internal universe (as in, the two series themselves are not linked to each other).
Wow, I got way off the story there. Right, so - okay story. Lots of characters. Not really sure why there were so many, they got their brief moments to shine - show characterization, then fade into the background to not be worthy of further story or die.
I'll read the next story in this series, though somewhat more because I've liked stories by Bishop before, and I already own it.
We've all heard the old saying "father knows best". In this case fathers a beast! Erzabet Bishop writes an amazing story filled with witches, demons, succubi & vampires. If you're a paranormal romance fan you'll definitely enjoy this book. Very smooth writing style with a story well thought out and beautifully written. The plot and storyline pulled me in. I loved every paragraph & the characters were extremely well developed. This book is packed with action & sensuality! Filled with murder & mayhem! The writing style is excellent! I look forward to reading more of this writer's work. I suggest this read to fellow fans of this genre. You won't be disappointed!
This was a great adventure to write. Book two is in the works. Can't wait to hear from my earliest readers. The book will be out on June 12. Get a sneak peek at:
I have been waiting none too patiently for this book. I was right to want it so much!
In her debut full length book, Ms Bishop has put herself out there with what I certainly hope is a stellar success.
Full of mystery and intrigue, this story centers around Fae, a tattoo artist/witch/vampire and Sonia who's charms include being an exotic lingerie model, succubus and more. Lets not leave out Jellybean, a sweet little dog...or is she?
I was absolutely riveted to this book. I rode each twist and turn with baited breath, eagerly anticipating the next one. I really don't have words to do it justice, its just that good.
Although Sigil Fire is perfect as a stand alone book, I've gotten word from Ms. Bishop herself that there will be a follow up...What a tease she is! I had better practice being patient, sigh.
This is the first F/F story I read and found the attraction between the characters believable. The descriptions of the scenes and the characters are very vivid. The plot flows so smoothly if feels like its happening in real life. This novella is definitely a page turner.
This story follows a few different characters in forms such as vampire and succubus which I hadn’t really read, or encountered much before, but I found it a very interesting experience. The book is in two parts, finishing with a festive tale, but it starts introducing one of the main characters Fae.
Fae, the daughter of someone pure, and someone evil has been unfortunately blessed with darkness and has had to learn to adapt to her powers. She is a tattooist, which was super cool, and she can help protect those who are in danger from demons and darkness, but with succubui being killed, everyone is on edge.
Sonia is losing friends to the darkness of death, and as a succubus, also fears for her own life. She is guided to Fae to help protect her, but both of them end up getting more than they expected when they realise they have feelings for one another.
Dark, sexy, and a little romance thrown in, gave this book an interesting pace and flair. I enjoyed the book, and would recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy, with a little magic and darkness.
I really enjoyed this story of vampires, succubi & other creatures roaming among humans! A bit of a thriller with a killer on the loose! The characters are all different but mesh well together in this story. In many ways it does resemble a favorite tv show of mine, which helped me read it in just one sitting! Erzabet weaves a tale that will keep you reading & wanting to know what will happen next!
I received this book for free for a honest review. I loved the characters and storyline. oh my stars ☆☆☆☆ sexy, hot, mystery. I loved Sonya and Faye! it flowed very well and held together. The author did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. reccomend
I haven’t read a lot of paranormal stories as at times I have difficulty immersing myself in the world the author has created. That was far from the case with this story. Right from the get-go I was pulled into the heart of it.
I loved the descriptive writing. The world building, magic, blood lust, witches, and demons were portrayed in vivid detail so I had no problem following along.
With the body count rising, trying to figure out who the killer was kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. When it came to light who the bad guy was, I found myself equally appalled and enthralled.
I often wonder how authors decide on a title, so I was further fascinated reading about the ‘sigil’.
Sonia and Fae were both great characters. The fact Fae was a tattoo artist was a bonus for me being a lover of tattoo’s. There were a number of side characters, some I enjoyed, others faded to black. While this is a lesbian romance, at times the women have to seek out men to quench their blood lust, however there’s nothing overtly sexual on page. More a means to an ends.
Speaking of sex, having read a few other books by this author I expected there to be more heat in this story, but sexual tension simmers right up until near the very end when, finally, sparks fly. Making the wait almost worthwhile.
If you are a fan of paranormal romance you’re sure to enjoy this story. I was excited to see there is a sequel, which I intend to dive head first into next.
Contains – witches, demons, succubus, death and mayhem, and female female loving.
This book was super cliche but Fae was the worst cliche possible. The book randomly sped tempo when it came to the sex scene and forward. And another whitewashed book except maybe one character who was “shockingly” a shifter.
Written on Skin by Erzabet Bishop is book two in the Sigil Fire Series. This a story Maliah a pheonix who finds herself after running away from her past and about Gen, a bookstore clerk who loves her job but is being sexually harassed by the stores new manager and owner. One night Gen has had enough of her bosses behavior and quits her job and to commemorate this new chapter in her life she visits a tattoo shop Forever Ink. Gen gets more than just a tattoo at Forever Ink, she receives an introduction to a different world. This book is an exciting page turning thrill ride into the paranormal world of Cirque Nocturne a sideshow and circus like non other. This book is a wonderful not to be missed romance that shows love can be found in the most unexpected of places. Written on Skin is an exciting paranormal romance.
Sigil Fire is a refreshing and well-written dark urban fantasy with incredible world-building. Erzabet Bishop packed quite a bit in into three hours; I'm very impressed with her style. Character development is excellent, consisting of supernatural creatures, mainly vampires, witches, and succubus. Some mythology is introduced; however, given the length, it didn't go too in-depth. The Succubi are dying, and the main characters are in search of the killer. The mystery of the murderer is definitely intriguing, keeping the readers/listeners engaged.
Debbie Soelter did a brilliant job with the narration, capturing the characters' nuances and bringing them to life. Overall, this was a fantastic listen, one I'd definitely recommend.
might be the best book written by Erzabet Bishop so far. Sigil Fire combines the sweetest touches of romance, fantasy, and a battle between good and evil into a intriguing, and fast action story full of mistery, romance, action and fantasy themes and that is entertaining and engaging. I adored the entire story! This book kept me wanting to read more, and in my opinion that is what a good book is all about! A book that captures your attention right from the start, you know the rest of the book is going to be great! I cannot wait to read more!

I loved Sigil Fire , this was my 1st book from Bishop but most certainly not the last. I thought that the characters were great, well written and exciting. I loved the paranormal characters being what felt like the majority instead of the minority. Fae is a bloodwitch vampire, and others are sucubuses I liked Fae and Sonia, and loved the tattoos that Fae created. I recommend this book and will definitely pick up the new ones once they come out.
She has just one goal stay off help radar. She is a succubus so when succbi start dying she knows she is in trouble. As her some time lover was also killed. She is going to be pulled in and she will need help to stop another one being the next victim. It may ever be her who is the next target. Will they stop them? Who is behind it all? See how they get on

This urban fantasy book was just what I was looking for - I immediately got into it keen to see how the story would progress. I like it when there’s a mystery to solve. My only negative was just as I got into the beginning of the story and was ready for the adventure to start, the book finished. I would have loved more of this story... more mystery, more adventure, and more romance (although I can’t complain about the romance in this story - very enjoyable!).
With a new cover. The book I read has a different cover but the same book. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The storyline and characters were engaging and interesting, even funny at times. This book is well written, the author has done a great job. This is a first from this author for me but I don't think it will be the last.
Sigil Fire by Erzabet Bishop is a wonderful story to read. I fell in love with this paranormal story when I read that it was about succubus. I love reading about succubus cause there are so many different ways it can develope. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves to read about succubus.

If you like paranormal f/f romance you will love this book. I couldn't put it down from the moment I picked it up. Quality writing, excellent storyline you won't regret reading this book.
It was well worth the time to read. The story was riveting, had you quite entranced from beginning to end as the characters takes you through their challenges.
Dark fantasy. Someone or something is hunting and killing succubus, stealing the souls they've collected. I enjoyed this book, I particularly enjoyed the history of how the succubus originated!
If you're a paranormal romance fan you'll definitely enjoy this book. This book is packed with action & sensuality, murder & mayhem! The writing excellent!
**Book provided by author for an honest review** This book is about a world where vampires, succubi, werewolves, and witches exist amongst humans unbeknownst. There is a serial killer out there that has targeted succubi, and Detectives Perry and his partner Charley are hard at work trying to solve the puzzle to this mystery. Perry, a vampire, and Charley a succubi are just baffled at what kind of creature has the ability to kill succubi.
Fae, a blood witch turned vampire, is having nightmares of a red haired woman being stalked and killed by an unknown evil entity. She tries to catch up and help her but always gets to red too late. Perry seeks the help from Fae on the case, since she has powers beyond his, and eventually puts two and two together, that her dream is related to the serial murders.
Sonia, a succubi older than time itself, is working as a fetish model and is totally clueless that the murders are directly related to her! As her fellow succubi and also friends are being murdered, she is sent to Fae by a mutual friend to acquire a sigil, which is a protection spell in the form of a tattooed symbol. When the two women meet for the first time, the pieces start to all come together, and an unusual bond is formed immediately. Together, they face the biggest battle of their lives and pray to the Goddess that they survive!
As we are taken through the character development and forming connections, I was pleasantly surprised at the level of skill put into this story. I absolutely loved the world that was created, as well as the characters involved. Unraveling the back story to the main characters was pretty fucking genius! There was such jaw dropping detail to the story that connected multiple people in such a creative way. I was totally into the story and sad to find it to be so short, but then again, it is a novella. The story has definitely peaked my interest by A LOT, and I am craving for more! I can't wait to dig in to the next installment!!
This is not my usual genre to read. In fact it combines genres I do not read on a regular basis - paranormal erotica with a lesbian twist. It is very difficult to mesh those all together. Erzabet masters her craft.
Women are being murdered at regular intervals. The detectives assigned to the cases are not human. Each brings his/her own talents to the crime solving.
The main character, Fae, is an unusual combination of species come together. She is a tattoo artist. She is raised by her witch mother but is never told about her father. Fae has her own opinions of various species and their value in the world.
This was a fast paced read that one wants to stay in and finish as soon as possible. You will want to know how it all works out. I guarantee that at the end you will hope Ms Bishop is already writing more.
If you enjoy paranormal crime solving and are not put off by lesbian erotica, you will enjoy this novel and will be waiting for the next installment.
I was gifted a copy but this positive review shows my true opinion.
