I had a hard time finishing this book. Honestly it seemed largely written to help people avoid trying to become day traders, which seems kind of strange (is this really a big money problem people have?) I also thought the book flowed terribly — sometimes it felt more like a series of unrelated aphorisms than an actual book. On the flip side, I thought a lot of the material could apply to another area of my life that I would like to improve — my health and fitness — and I could see how present sacrifices ensure future success, or how defining myself as a runner now means I will become a runner, or how establishing systems for success means keeping junk food out of my house or finding a workout buddy to hold me accountable. But it really did nothing to help me figure out my mental blocks around spending money.
I really enjoyed reading this book. It had a TON of research and studies to back up the authors assertions. I really liked the quizzes that the author asks to find out more about your personal beliefs about money, debt, and life. The author was really great at breaking down how the brain and mind functions in regards to how you form your beliefs about money. The best part is that at the end of the book, the author lays out HOW TO CHANGE your beliefs, your MONEY STORY! I loved learning more about positive affirmations and how to do little things to change your life, your thoughts, and ultimately your money.
