It was funny, entertaining, crazy, non stop laughter. A story well worth reading again. I am glad Viviana was able to get justice for Oscar as well as herself.
After reading the other books in this series, I had high hopes for this one. Those hopes were dashed early on, yet I continued reading believing it had to get better. It didn't, it doesn't, it's a horrible mess from start to finish. Don't waste your money, or your time. Life's too short to waste on lousy books. Pertinent details: Character development? None. Likeable characters? Zero. Plot? Nope. Continuity? Zip. Editing accuracy? Zilch. Overall likeability? Nada.
I was not fond of this book, which is a shame because I've loved the series up until now. There were a ton of characters, and the conversations were all over the place. I spent the entire book trying to figure out what was going on, and now that I'm finished I'm still not sure I understand. I wasn't able to grasp the relationships between most of the people. I like the overall plot (I think), but not fond of the execution.
I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
A rather convoluted tale that really was a bit of a mess. Okay the characters were good but the plot itself really didn't have a clear cut ending or real explanation. She has left her high profile life to take a job as a professional mourner. Her husband has gone off with her money and some of her assets. Although she has a PI looking into his dealings she still has no answers. Now she has been hired by the dead man's ex-wife to be at all three of his memorial services. The man had ex-wife galore and more children then she can get her head around. Worse it is now known that he had been murdered. Who and why are still up in the air.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily providing my honest review. Viviana Romero is a soap opera star who goes to Ashville to look for the things that her new husband stole from her. She finds out that he sent everything to Ashville. She needs a cover to go there and her assistant talks Ruthie into hiring her and Ruthie hires her to work for a family of a wealthy man It is rumored that he was murdered. Viviana gets into the middle of everything, of course, because after all she is a soap opera star. I recommend this book.
This is the funniest of the Funeral Fakers, but lost a star because there are so many characters and so much confusion that, by the end of the story, I'd lost both track and interest. This was like its own telenovela, as the lead character insists she acts in. It's another murder investigation with a PI that always gets to the bottom of the issue, and a surprisingly appealing lead in Viviana. Read and enjoy, but keep the characters tracked from the start!
The main character Vivanna was likable. It was a fun pleasant read, but as others have said, too many characters and at times a tad confusing. I did enjoy reading, but the story was weaker than others have been in the series. I liked the premise of this book. It had the potential to be one of the best but the confusion made the storyline weak. The humor was strong. I definitely think it is worth a read just don't let your expectation be too high, but it was still fun.
I volunteered to read an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
Another good book in the Funeral Fakers series. In this book, Viviana Romero, a big telenovela star, has come to Ashville to reclaim the money and property her husband stole from her. She takes on a gig as a professional mourner, but ends up in the midst of a lot of family drama, much like a soap opera. This was a fun book to read as it felt like you were in a real-life soap opera with the dead husband and all the ex-wives and children fighting over the money. I’m looking forward to reading the final book in this series!
Mourning Star is not my favourite book in this series. It is an ok story and is amusing in places but for me it was just too confusing. I want to be entertained when I read and I don't want to work that hard trying to keep up with the plethora of characters (way too many) and who said or did what. It's a clean, cozy mystery but just not for me. This is only my opinion so I suggest you make up your own mind.
WOW I REALLY MEAN WOW. I do a lot of cozey mystery reading and this little cozey murder mystery is at the top level of the the really juicey, nasty , hilarious ,new turn after turn, so full of caracter after comical caracter. You can't put it asside until you've reached the end of the book I'ts that enthralling, if you're a cozey reader then you most certainly do not want to miss out on Mourning Star. 🙄😃😊 Kat
What do you do when your husband leaves you and takes all of your money as well? You go into hiding and become a professional mourner and with this job comes trying to save your own life for getting to involved. Maybe the tears will help her out. This series is funny, sad, a little bit of action and trying to protect your heart. Dont miss out on these and get them ordered today.
This was not my favorite in the series. Thrre were too many characters especially at the start. I couldn't keep track of who was who. It got better but I was not sure how Vivianna discovered who murdered Oscar. It was like she pulled it out of thin air. It is still worth the read but not my favorite in the series.
Viviana, a telenovela actress, fly to Ashville to find her husband and the money he stole from her. Meanwhile she will work as a mourner faker in Oscar ‘s funeral, a millionaire with too many wifes and children. Can Viviana solve the mystery of Oscar’s death and solve all her problems? An hilarious story.
WOW!!! Can't describe this book in right terms. Interesting is limited for this book lol. Not in a bad way meaning. Never read a book like this one. Intriguing yes!! Gotta READ it!!! All I can fully say. Then you will know what I am saying lol. Enjoyed reading!!
This book was the hottest of hot messes. Nothing made sense. Absolutely nothing. There were so many characters and not enough time spent reminding you who was who. The plot was all over the dang place. I'm not even 100% sure what actually happened. This was just a whole entire mess.
This one was definitely different from the other books in the series so far, but still quite enjoyable. Lots of crazy characters and this happening so quickly I couldn't put the book down.
I was totally blown away, by the idea of fake mourners. But the book is great. What a treat it is. The wide range of characters, are awesome. I read it an afternoon, I just had to find out how the storyline would end. What a surprise.
This book was confusing, very confusing and I found it hard to relate to all the anger shown Viviana for no obvious reason. Of all the books in this series, this was the least funny for me and I had a hard time finishing it.
