Dario fascinatingly weaves the ancient yoga principles with Carl Jung's philosophy to illuminate the reader to their increasing depth and by comparing both the similarities and complexities of the two and how these are relevant to your modern yoga practice.
This is a very helpful distillation of Jung's views on kundalini yoga. Nardi provides activities and exercise you can do to work with these energies. Of greatest interest to me is the section on personality typology. He provides fresh descriptions and keywords for the 8 Jungian functions and shows how the functions are to the West what chakras are to the East.
I recommend pairing this book with Jungian analyst and psychiatrist Ashok Bedi's book Path to the Soul which also talks about the chakras in a Jungian context.
This was a super interesting read - with a surprisingly modern take considering how different society is compared to when Jung conducted his studies. I really loved how the author took all of his extensive research (including what must’ve been a deep dive into Jung’s work alone) and condensed it into something approachable, including even modern pop culture metaphors. The exercises were wonderful too.
