EMP SETS THE WORLD BACK BEFORE THE INDUSTRIAL AGE & RACIST PRICKS TAKE OVER THE TOWN.

No matter what the disaster is or where in the world the disaster hits, it seems as if there are always scum that come out of the shadows to prey on the innocent, the poor, the weak, the young, and the old. This story is just that. The evil in this scenario is elected officials who are members of the local KKK and their lackies who turn on those of color, those who do not fit into their idea of desirable Christians, and those who do not have the same racist beliefs. Of course, their main goal is to feed their greed and their lust for violence.
Fortunately, there are those who stand up for what's right and wrong even if that means placing themselves and their lives in harm's way and that's where Harry Banks and his family and friends come into this story. Harry, his sister Willene, Earl, a longtime friend, Boggy, a young man taken in by the banks, Clay, a former police officer who's life was almost ended for no other reason then the color of his skin, along with a few others set out to stop the corruption, murders, enslavement, and abuse the mayor, sheriff, and their fellow asshole KKK members, all the while, helping their fellow neighbors and the community their live in in a small Kentucky mining town.
EMP Antediluvian Fear (book 2) by S.A. Ison is a well-written story with believable characters that you can easily relate to, heroes that have strong family values and morals, and both strong men and women that you will find yourself drawn to. She tells her story/stories in a voice that will appeal to all. The way she writes to describe the landscape, emotions, smells, and relationships will leave you feeling as if you are part of the storyline.
If you haven't had the opportunity to read one of S.A. Ison's books or series whether it's one of her time travel, EMP, or werewolf books, you are really missing out. I have been working through all her books she's written and I can truthfully tell you they are great and you will not be disappointed.
Quote: "Their parents had taught them blacks were bad people, lazy, and dirty. They'd trusted their parents' beliefs and never called them into question, until now. Until they saw what the harsh bigotry had wrought, something ugly, violent, and deadly."
It's so sad what is passed from one generation to the next without even a thought about whether it holds true or not. The hatred grows from generation to generation based on unfounded bigotry with no desire to educate themselves.
I have really enjoyed reading this book and the series as well and hope you too will enjoy reading it as much as I have.
I've read several other books by S.A. Ison that were fairly good, but this was was by far the best. Characters very well fleshed out and vivid. Story lines difficult to stomach at times, but keeping the story enthralling. I am by now a true fan. Kudos, keep up the good work.
This second book is a good follow-up on book 1, so far as the story is concerned. The bad guys in general are very one-dimensional, including the very creepy cannibal woman. The group sequestered at Harry's farm and the ones that are in the mine are a good set. There are some writing issues (decent instead of descent and other misuse and Jutta is at times spelled Jetta). I don't see a book 3 yet but hope one materializes as I am now very worried about Alan.
But wait! There has to be more! Where is the third book?? I was so into the people and the story, I was shocked when it stopped. This book has a new twist, not your usual dangerous traveling from one place to the next. I liked it, and the characters. It really is refreshingly different.... (4 stars is my highest rating, I used to give 5, but that should be something very rare)
I like the storyline, and I’m enjoying the series. Some parts are believable, but some parts are a bit weird. Sort of a story within a story. I’m hoping it will all make more sense in upcoming books.
Wonderful story, and oh my the cliff hanger! I can't wait until book 3. I love to hate some of the characters. Wonderful action. Lots of fun and highly recommend.
I enjoyed this book. A good work of fiction that you can believe it could easily happen today. The characters are interesting and not your typical EMP story.
This was a thrilling action ride from the first page to the last page. The author draws you into the action in a way that makes you picture every scene, every sentence, every smell, gunfight, dark coal mine shaft, or Jutta’s kitchen in your minds eye. It’s like you are watching a movie or walking just a step behind the Chaya’s he describes every scene. Although purely fiction, I can only imagine something like this happening if an EMP should explode... although not from there I found his description of the Appalachian mountains and people riveting and saw all the action as if it happened in front of me. Definitely a story and series to read.
Well. Cough cough. A little less blood shed maybe? My complaint with one of her time travel novels was too much description and too little drama. Yeah, this one makes up for all of that. I like the plot and it is plausible, making it interesting. But I felt like this Author saw action and was cathartically regurgitating it. Speaking of which, I am probably permanently off of stew and may become a vegetarian soon.
