they never saw coming.

Tim began his career in Soviet Counterintelligence with the US Army Special Forces, the Green Berets. That was back in the Cold War days when, “We learned Russian so you didn't have to,” something he did at the Presidio of Monterey alongside Recon Marines and Navy SEALs.

With the fall of the Berlin Wall, Tim switched from espionage to arbitrage. Armed with a Wharton MBA rather than a Colt M16, he moved to Moscow in the midst of Perestroika. There, he led prominent multinational medical companies, worked with cosmonauts on the MIR Space Station (from Earth, alas), chaired the Association of International Pharmaceutical Manufacturers, and helped write Russia’s first law on healthcare.

Moving to Brussels during the formation of the EU, Tim ran Europe, Middle East, and Africa for a Johnson & Johnson company and traveled like a character in a Robert Ludlum novel. He eventually landed in Silicon Valley, where he launched new medical technologies as a startup CEO.

In his free time, Tim has climbed the peaks of Mount Olympus, went hang gliding from the cliffs of Rio de Janeiro, and ballooned over Belgium. He earned scuba certification in Turkey, learned to ski in Slovenia, and ran the Serengeti with a Maasai warrior. He acted on stage in Portugal, taught negotiations in Germany, and chaired a healthcare conference in Holland. Tim studied psychology in France, radiology in England, and philosophy in Greece. He has enjoyed ballet at the Bolshoi, the opera on Lake Como, and the symphony in Vienna. He’s been a marathoner, paratrooper, triathlete, and yogi.

Intent on combining his creativity with his experience, Tim began writing thrillers in 1996 from an apartment overlooking Moscow’s Gorky Park. Twenty years later, his passion for creative writing continues to grow every day. His home office now overlooks a vineyard in Northern California.

Tim grew up in the Midwest, and graduated from Hanover College with a BA in Philosophy and Mathematics. After military service and work as a financial analyst and foreign-exchange trader, he earned an MBA in Finance and an MA in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.

Thoroughly Entertaining. This is another fabulous story by Tim Tigner that had me hooked from the beginning. I’ve become a big fan of Kyle Achilles as a character, as his skills are amazing, and he can pretty much adapt to any situation. He’s definitely the kind of guy you want around if you get into trouble. I quite enjoyed that there were a few surprises in this book that I wasn’t expecting, and I even enjoyed reading about the bad guys. Overall a clever and thrilling read. Easily worth the 5/5 Star Rating.

Tim Tigner at his peak!

The movie star handsome, ‘man’s man’ Tim Tigner comes to his role as a novelist specializing in political intrigue with a rich background. His academic preparation is a combination of mathematics and philosophy with psychology and radiology, but after academia his instinct for investigation and thrill seeking led him to serve in the Green Berets, specializing in Russian and Soviet counterintelligence. When Perestroika/Glasnost ‘opened’ Russia (or at least by their definition made it more transparent) led to the fall of the Berlin wall, Tigner’s direction shifted from espionage to arbitrage and he moved form Russia to Brussels where he witnessed the formation of the European Union: his change in focus shifted back to the US and further degrees in business and International Studies and settled in the Silicon Valley as a corporate type in the medical device industry. And as if that background weren’t sufficient he continued his travels around the world expending energy as scuba diver, skier, actor, mountain climber, a hand glider, a parachuter, and in every sense of the word an adventurer. Now he follows his obsession with reading thrillers by writing them.

Having read most of Tim’s novels it always comes a surprise that he doesn’t repeat himself. There are ‘recipe format espionage books’ – keep one central character everyone recognizes then populate the story with the expected clones of ‘good’ vs. ‘bad’ people. That is where Tim steps aside like a matador and creates each novel with a fresh outlook and cast. And so evolved the Kyle Achilles series of which this is Book 4.

For those throngs who have been following Tim’s Kyle Achilles books then be prepared for what is in this reader's opinion is the best of the four – and that is a tough classifying decision. But simply step into the opening page of TWIST AND TURN and that decision becomes obvious – ‘Was I dead? Had I died? If this was the afterlife, then I’d been deemed lacking. Less than sufficient, or sub-saintly at least. I had killed. The Lord knew that Kyle Achilles had violated the Sixth Commandment on more than one occasion—therefore I shouldn’t be surprised by His judgment. But I was. I guess I’d expected an exception. A pass. A nod. My kills had been righteous, after all. For the greater good. I’d dedicated much of my life to fighting the honorable fight. The battle where the good had to do bad to win. And Katya. Poor Katya. She was now alone again. I’d failed her … somehow. These thoughts all raced around my mind, bouncing off the walls and sending reverberations through my soul, in two sticky blinks of my crusty eyes. I continued blinking as my other senses shucked off slumber and attempted to tune in to the waking world. A new world. A world like none I’d known before. My eyes gave me nothing. Literally nothing. They funneled no information through my optic nerves and into my brain. They didn’t hurt. They didn’t feel different. They just reported black, like a television without power. Was that it? Had someone or something used a drug to pull the plug? To chemically sever a connection? As logical as that seemed, my mind didn’t buy in. It took a different turn because my ears were also off-kilter. Strain as I might, I heard nothing beyond my own biology—and the breathing of others. Not a sound.’

Couple these harrowing facts with Tigner’s gift for transplanting his characters into situations that seem destined to destruction and yet manipulating them out with keen pacing and skill and there you have yet another thriller by the gifted Tim Tigner. He writes so well that one could quite easily become addicted. Smart, sophisticated and always with a surprise at the turn of every page, Tigner simply has it.

This was an enjoyable fourth entry of Tigner's Kyle Achilles series. This is certainly a thinking person's series with lots of new technology used by both the good guys and the bad guys. Twist and Turn is a good name for the book since there are certainly twists and turns galore. Just not the ultimate one which would put the book over the top.

Kyle is taking Katya to an exclusive resturant to ask her to marry him. The next thing they remember they wake up as captives, along with the other patrons, in a basement of a bunker. The 500 victims are being held for ransom for 2 million dollars each. Since the eating establishment is very exclusive the patrons are all well off...except for Kyle, Katya and a couple of others.

I am not going to go into more of the plot since I don't want to ruin it for you. Lots of action and reactions by Kyle, the federal authorities and the bad guys.

This is an excellent series that is well worth the read. There is a prequel and four books to date. All are action packed adventures that you will enjoy reading.

Twist and Turn lives up to its title. There are certainly plenty in this latest action thriller by Tim Tigner. Kyle Achilles and Katya Kozara are back. T&T is an enthralling ride that’s all about being in the wrong place at the wrong time and having to step up to save the day.

Kyle and Katya become embroiled in a world of egos, money, and revenge. Even though this time it’s not personal, it turns out to be just as dangerous as previous books. They, along with a bunch of strangers, become captives of unknown enemies in a place from which escape seems impossible. The situation requires Kyle to call on his unique skills (from his Olympic past) to find a way out. But that’s only phase one of this gripping story.

In a moment when two agendas collide, an opportunistic plot twist is thrown into the mix. The fate of Kyle and Katya suddenly turns and they end up in a situation that seems to get worse by the minute. That’s when we find ourselves on a journey packed with mystery, revenge, and intrigue that takes us from one side of the US to the other.

I’m the first to admit that I really have a soft spot for high action over-the-top books (Matthew Reilly), but one of the things I like about TT’s books is that although the plots are exciting and clever, they are grounded in a world that’s real and fairly relatable. Most of the time the events do actually seem possible. It’s like I need to balance my tastes by reading books at opposite ends of the spectrum.

As a reader I was captured by the mystery and intrigue of the underlying plot, and of where it would end up. And, true to form, Tigner cleverly drip feeds small snippets of information along the way … releasing just enough detail to lure me along without giving away the ultimate goal. That information is only revealed when it’s time. And when this happens, you wonder why you hadn’t already guessed.

When the final climax arrives and the secret is revealed, it certainly gets you thinking about the impact such an event would deliver. The only way to find out what I’m talking about is to grab a copy and read it for yourself.

Twist and Turn is another exciting thriller in the Kyle Achilles series. Great story, great characters, engaging, exciting, and thought provoking. I keenly await the next book in the series, which is due out later this year.

Tim Tigner certainly does not disappoint his readers who were waiting a year for Book #4 in the Kyle Achilles series. It is hard to imagine how Tigner can keep getting better and better. And I am amazed how the author is able to weave not one but two plots together from beginning to end. Tigner has proven to be a story-teller among the best of thriller-adventure fiction - Flynn, Child, Coes, Baldacci, Jason Kasper, and Brian Haig. His early training and experience in US Army Special Forces is evident in the skills and tactics of Kyle Achilles. Tigner's unique background in multinational business, international pharmaceuticals and new medical technologies gives him singular insight into creating some of the most thought-provoking and simultaneously terrifying medical, high-tech "what-ifs" plots. Tigner's plots are original and unique in this genre. The story moves very quickly, both across the page and across the US, and the "twist and turn" in this plot is totally unexpected and thought-provoking. And in this edition, his fiancee, Katya (Kate in Russian, of course) is a thoroughly captivating character, on par with Kyle Achilles. Don't start this book if you have any productive work that needs to get done, because this book is truly impossible to put down. Strong work Tigner. I have bought paperback copies for my military battle buddies, and will get Audiobooks for my wife and daughter.

Tigner Delivers Again

Twist and Turn continues the inventive saga of Kyle Achilles and his significant other, Katya. Tigner has a very fertile imagination and has yet again crafted an almost unbelievable plot. I say almost unbelievable, because of course in this crazy world the almost unbelievable happens every day. The 4th of the Achilles series was equally entertaining as the previous 3, and I happily await book 5, which I hope won't be long in coming. Enjoy!

Tim Tigner’s mind is truly a marvel. His ability to take standard thriller crimes (in this case, kidnapping) and blow them into literary outer space is extraordinary. Twist and Turn begins with a revenge kidnapping and evolves into a major conspiracy (can’t say more — spoiler). Just know that the twists are unexpected and truly devious. And the characters are not cardboard stereotypes — none are pure evil or pure good. Also, the author has cleverly used couples as the major players: Kyle and Katya are together, the lead kidnappers are a married couple and fellow kidnap victims Oz and Sabrina form a special bond with Kyle and Katya that propels the action in a whole new direction.

But what I liked most is that Kyle Achilles and his beloved Katya become partners in every sense of the word. Their relationship was always strong, but here Katya shows that her spirit and resourcefulness when on her own matches that of the indomitable Achilles. This entry in the series has an emotional depth not seen in the previous books. Thank you, Tim Tigner, for another wonderful visit to your world!

Tim Tigner's hit this one out of the park.
Readers of his Kyle Achilles series will have a pretty good idea of what to expect, hi-tech gadgets, complex plot, relateable bad guys and an easy-to-read page turning style. I've been there since the start so I might qualify as biased, but I think this is the best one yet.
In Twist and Turn I would be genuinely surprised if you foresee the second act twist, even if you're expecting 'something'. Genuinely excellent and up there with Fleming (without the sexism and dated prose), Cussler and Child in terms of sheer enjoyment and professional writing skill. I loved it.

Absolutely fabulous!

I love this series! I love each book, and the main characters. Kyle is a hero, and Katya can hang right with him. I often wonder how close to the truth some of these stories actually are, but after all the heinous actions Obama, Hillary, and Bush did while in office of whichever they held at the time, well, it's all believable. I love the well thought out plots of each story, and the fact that Kyle is just incredibly smart! I'd give this ten stars of I could!

If you want a thrilling adventure with a huge twist...this is the book for you! I have read all of the Achilles books and this one is the best so far. The twist in this book was so good, that I really don't want to give anything away. I love the character development of Katya, Achilles' fiance and partner. Katya is a strong and a smart female character and she is portrayed well in the series. The story line is really creative and I found myself saying "no way" many times as I was shocked and drawn into the book. Twist and Turn is a great page turner for anyone into thrillers. I highly recommend it and all of Tim Tigner's other books.

A very good read!

An emotional, yet terrifying rollercoaster ride of terrorism, kidnapping, and well thought out plans of action. The story presents itself with an opportunity to overtake American soil by a foreign turned American terrorist, tries to plot a bomb threat that would take out Florida in a race against time!
The beginning of the story was slow, but picked greatly for a perfect ending!

Fast paced, intriguing and full of anticipation

This book was easy to read, mainly because it left the reader wanting to know what was going to happen next. The change in plot direction continued to pique interest but never gave enough information to make the reader feel they had the whole story. Fun reading to the very end.

Intriguing mystery with kidnapping terrorists.

It starts as a kidnapping of the diners in a famous restaurant and twists and turns from there taking you on a roller coaster type ride. Only two negatives, extreme detailed actions of main character that dragged on for several chapters early in the story. Then the ending is much like an hour TV movie that has to be wound up in a hurry. After chapters full of detailed planning and successful villainous activities it is wound up way too quickly and loses reality. It is worth the read for many, but not for everyone.

Ahh, A New Tim Tigner Novel

Twist and Turn is a most apt title for this delightful New book. Achilles is back in full force, with action and cunning that keeps the pages turning. In case you haven't read the previous 3 books in the series, I highly recommend them as well as this one.

Stunning, as always.

Compelling from page one, Tigner's attention to detail and infinite research results in a completely believable yet innovative story. I have read all his books and will continue to follow him....ranks up there with Baldacci and Gilstrap.

This is one of the best books I've read lately. I literally had to force myself to put it down. Kyle Achilles is the perfect protagonist: extremely smart, fearless, tough, can't be intimidated - overall a real hero. I am happy to rate this one 5 stars.

This is the best of the Kyle Achilles series. It is current. The involvement of Saudi Arabia was masterful. However, I see another book about Oz (aka Osama) and Kyle. The conflict between these two masterminds is not ended.
