Find out what happens when two chicks in the suburbs open their home and hearts to four chicks from the hatchery? First-time chicken farmers, Bronwyn and Christina take you on a journey through the fear, fun and foibles of one of humanity’s most important companions - the chicken. Chicken history, science, politics, pop culture, religion, social justice, and even psychosis is woven throughout in an informative and eccentric voice. Amaze your friends and family with your knowledge of chickens – inside and out. You will never look at a chicken, or an egg for that matter, in the same way.
Born on the bayou, Bronwyn Mitchell came to age on Bourbon Street, bleeds purple and gold as a third generation LSU Tiger, and has loved the Saints before they ever had a winning season. But New Orleans is not her only home. Bronwyn has lived and worked in Botswana as a Peace Corps Volunteer, on the island of American Samoa, before being voted off, Dallas, Texas, and three different cities in Maryland working mainly in the fields of environmental protection and education. Bronwyn’s writing is pulled from her experiences traveling, living abroad, and her quest to do everything at least once. One season as a professional football player. One boxing match. One marathon. One trip almost to the top of Kilimanjaro. One year as a substitute teacher. And most recently: one flock of backyard chickens.
