Francesca Penn lives in Texas with her husband and son. While obtaining her Technical Writing degree, a creative writing course and play-writing elective reawakened her desire to create stories. Her brain lives in fiction; even the songs she listens to become music videos in her head.

When she is not writing, she can be found hounding her loved ones with multiple "What-if" scenarios. As a true closet romantic, she is prone to filling up her DVR with Hallmark movies. A friend once told her that she'd trained the whole 20 plus years she'd known her to write romance since her nose was always in a love story.

Francesca believes that love is colorblind and plans to provide a mix of couples of different races and ethnicities because - to her - men are like Skittles, and we all know their motto.

Oh my goodness, where do I start? Nick is a 30 year old, nerdy tech virgin from a well to do family who wants to lose his v-card. It is not that he hasn’t had opportunities to have sex, he just wasn’t feeling the women. They were either gold diggers, using him to get to her younger brother or they weren’t HER! Since the moment he saw Kalilah, an enchanted moment across the room two years ago, he has only wanted one woman. The problem was, he was too shy to approach her.

Kalilah is a boss! A VP in Nick’s father’s company. She is a black woman running two departments and has the other VPs in the office reporting to her. She is also very single and has a major crush on Nick, the office recluse.

Once they actually meet the story takes you on highs and lows of a budding friendship that should be so much more. Both Nick and Kalilah have communication issues. While they both have been hurt in the past, neither has the guts to admit their true feelings for the other. They make a pact that Kalilah will help Nick with his virginal status, but it takes months for him to be ready.

First he his ashamed of his body, so she signs him up for personal training. Then all sorts of things get in the way. When they finally do the deed, look out! 30 years of abstinence causes Nick to lose his mind once he gets some. Baby, he wants it morning, noon and night. He even wants it in his sleep.

Kalilah is happy to accommodate his urges, as she is enamored with him. Her only problem is that she worries he will get tired of her and move on to the next girl, especially after his makeover. Whew! She doesn’t want to get her feeling caught up in him. Too late! She loves him even before they started. He loves her too.

These two are cute, funny, quirky and get in my latest nerve at times. I found myself saying out loud, just tell her already! I enjoyed this story and look forward to seeing how Dex and Cayla(Their siblings) will be into each other.

This is a new author to me. I took this book out on Kindle Unlimited. The story is certainly different but very intriguing, extremely engaging and totally enjoyable. The author had me been hooked from beginning to end. So much so that I immediately got her other book and I am half way through it now. This book is a little on the raunchy side but its an excellent story. Definitely worth a read and I would highly recommend it. Its is a BW/WM story just in case the cover does not make that clear.

Pros-
Male virgin who takes charge once he gets going
Self improvement
I liked the reality of a male MC insecure about his body (rare in romance)
Female poc
Ultra sexually confident heroine
People who do their actual job
Fairly steamy

Cons-
A feast of typos, damn. Author needs an editor or a read-thru
Adults who CANNOT FUCKING COMMUNICATE, they acted more like teens than grown ups
Mercurial hero
While hero learned things and worked on himself, heroine showed no character development. Is she just perfect? Felt imbalanced.
The push and pull was exhausting. Didn't get resolution til near the end, so we never get to experience them as an actual couple

My 2nd book by this author and let me tell you, she did not disappoint. Reasons why I enjoyed this book are as follows:

1. The main story line is rare
2. It takes place in my home state; Texas
3. The author mentioned “WhatABurger”

It may not mean a lot to some but representation matters! LOL Most stories I read take place on the east or west coasts.

The only things that I found odd during some parts of the story was Kalilah’s personality. She worked in an adult book store for research, cool, but what happened to that? It was never mentioned again. Why was she dressed in “Cos Play”? Her personality seemed to be all over the place but the more I read, the more her character changed when she got personal she got with Nick.

I LOVED Nicks transformation through out the story. He was a shy man that grew into confidence.

Great work, Ms. Penn!

Best Story I Have Read in A While

This a fairly straightforward love story with a bit of a twist. The hero is almost thirty and is still a virgin. He notices that someone has started watching him in the mornings in the parking garage. He confronts the person only to find out that she is the same woman he has been crushing on. After some foot in mouth occurrences, he asks her to be his first. He is uncomfortable with his body and keeps getting close but not going the whole way. She gives him some practical help and advice. They finally start a satisfying physical relationship. The relationship starts to mean so much more. They are in love but neither one wants to be the first person to admit their feelings. Absolutely lovely story, with interesting side characters. Dex is next in line for a storyline.

Excellent!

This author is new to me. I read her other book, Oh Christmas Fling, and was so impressed I decided to read this one. This author is really good. Her characters are well developed, the stories are engaging, and the editing is excellent. I gave it 4 stars because I think the push/pull of the relationship went a bit longer than it needed to. I Iook forward to reading Mrs. Pen's future stories, she has earned a new fan!

Nick was a different kind of hero for me. I’ve been reading a lot of badass, macho, super alphas so Nick came just in time for a change of pace. It was cute and refreshing to experience a hero—as opposed to the heroine—who’s vulnerabilities were connected to his physique. Nick was averagely good looking, a little soft in the middle, and a bit of a recluse when we meet him but he has Kalilah’s attention none-the-less. And she’s had his attention for sometime as well. Nick lacks the confidence to act on their mutual attraction so Kalilah tells him to make the changes necessary to boost his confidence. She wants him but even more she wants him comfortable and confident. So Nick undergoes a slight transformation. Not only does he get on the grind and tone his soft middle, Nick grows up and into the vice president position he holds at work. I appreciate that the changes he made weren’t solely for the woman he wanted. Those changes also tied into his relationship with his father and their family business.

Nick had trust issues because of past experiences with opportunistic and shallow women. Sometimes when those trust issues were at play, Nick came off as super juvenile. I just felt like he was too old to be behaving the way he was. But he lacked the experiences and interactions that would have helped him grow out of those insecurities so…fine.

This was a really cute story. There were some mechanical and grammatical hiccups but it wasn’t too distracting. There’s already more of Francesca Penn’s work hanging out in my tbr. I’ll be catching up on those soon.

First time reading this author work and it won’t be the last time! This book was recommend in a Facebook book club that I’ve joined. I love Nick and Kalilah’s story. This book was different from most books I’ve read. Once I started reading it, it was hard for me to stop reading. Had me up at 445 am knowing I had to get up at 620. Looking forward to Dex’s Story

SOOOOOO much potential!!! I was drawn in and then was so excited with the bomb dropped by Dex. The chemistry between Kalilah and Nicholas was awesome but the story just seemed to intermittently drag. Pretty much running hot then cold.

Oh, and "UNinhabitable"

“I’ve been reading....”

This is why I love me some nerds. They’re always panty droppin and heart stoppin when they put in the effort. Nick and Kailiah, they are the best book couple ever. From page one, you will literally be looking at your kindle wondering if you read that right. STALKING? WHAT? Lol. The journey of Nick and Kalilah is infuriating, sexy, adorable and unnecessarily difficult because they have undeniable chemistry but they don’t know how to speak their mind. The sex was so freaking SPICY, MS.PENN you did not disappoint.

Great read......but

I loved how Kalilah was drawn to Nick and his "nerdy" appearance. The way she encouraged him and helped him see his great potential. I just am so sick of the constant miscommunication or lack of clear communication that seem to be in every book lately. I read to relax my mind and escape the stress of everyday life. Pour, lack of or miscommunication being on my top 10 list. Vent over... But the story line was really good.

Ugly Duckling meets Sexy Fairy God Mother

When I read reading this story, I felt like it would loosely be based on the author's rendition of the Ugly Duckling and/or Cinderella. The difference between this story and Cinderella is that Nick's family loved him despite his nerdy ways and shortcoming. He didn't have any step-siblings; instead, he had siblings that loved and supported him. Like the Ugly duckling, he was awkward and very anti-social. He had many great successes but lacked the ability to connect with a woman on a physical level. Nick reminded me of a verbally abused person. He did not trust anyone because of how someone else treated him.
In comes, Kalilah. She's smart, beautiful and she sees Nick. She finds him attractive despite his nerdy awkward ways. Her friendship gives him the confidence he needs to ask for what he wants. Sadly, despite how smart he is, he still does not communicate his truth clearly enough for Kalilah. He says some harsh things. Make some even harsher allegations. Then finds that apologizing is simply not enough.
Nick found his confidence but didn't change his love for Kalilah. It was a nice story.
I gave it three stars because I found there were a few errors. I have read this author before with less errors. I will continue to read her stories. I would recommend this story as well as "Axel in Heaven". I promise you won't be disappointed.

Ok

I liked the book up to a point. I felt they were going round in circles and it was unbelievable to me that a 30 year old uber rich guy would be a virgin. Even if he is nerdy there’s no way that there wasn’t even a fumble when he was a teenager. I really hated that Kalilah albeit a nice girl, went off an told her sister and friend about it. It’s far too private to share in my opinion. No enough scenes outside of them, complete lack of communication. She never said what she wanted and vice versa. Very frustrating. On a wider note, what does the company do? Now that he has resigned what is he going to do? I felt like the author was describing a teenager or someone in their early 20s. I understand being insecure but to languish in a job you don’t want when you have the means to create something new? There wasn’t any information about her as a person, her tastes, her background, her past relationships anything. I loved Dex. Great brother and person. However the whole Kalilah being his best friend felt weird because it seems liked he barely knew her

Loved it

This was my first time reading this author and I was not disappointed. Nick and Kalilah are Co workers. They are both VPs of their departments but their leadership styles are completely different. He is known as the office recluse and she is loved by everyone in the office. They meet in an unconventional way but become friends. He has a big secret and wants her help with it. Of course while helping him they get to know each other and develop feelings but are both too scared to tell each other. This book was a great read. It moved quickly and had so many wonderful parts. I will definitely be reading more my Miss Penn

The storyline was perfect. It started like a book that would become one of my favs, but somewhere in the middle it got lost.
Maybe it's because i like my hero's to be the type that fight for their woman. Mans was treating Kalilah like a secret mistress because off company rules when he never cared about rules before. I felt like he didn't really love her, he didn't care about how she felt or what made her happy.

Nick being insecure in the begining i could understand but him being so cleuless the whole story was yust naaah.

But go ahead and give it a try maybe you'll like it, was yust not for me

Unique twist on classic storyline

1st I would like to say I’m not sure why this book has so few reviews this book was great! Nick and Kalilah are simply coworkers until one starts stalking the other. Once confronted they become friends and Nick requests something from Kalilah that she can’t resist. The story is very intriguing and there weren’t any boring parts where I find myself skipping. On another note I hope that Dex and Cayla’s story is coming soon.

“Baby I’m a virgin, not a saint.”

This is my first book by this author and I really liked it. Minus the missing word typos it was really good! Nick an Kalilah were super cute. Especially Nick in the beginning; I could visualize him in all his virginity and nerdiness. The only thing that could be better is the ending. Now with that said, knowing there’s another book about Dex makes it easier to get past the missing pieces to their HEA in this book!

Nick 💑Kalilah

This story was well put together and love the twists where Nick had a lot of self-esteem issues about his body and mind. I never read book where the man had to work hard to full fill his worth for his self being. I really enjoy this story I highly recommend this book. I don't like giving out the whole story to readers what is the point to ruined the plot of the drama. I love Nick and Kalilah love but there communication skills sucks.

Enjoyable Read

Kalilah and Nick are a cute couple that fail to communicate openly with each other about their feelings. Nice twist on the lead characters experience, but wasn't happy that Kalilah so quickly openly shared it with her girls, but saying that this is a very enjoyable story. I'm now looking forward to reading the second book in the series and hope it will also allow some future catch up with Kalilah and Nick's progress!.

I love 💘it!

I can actually say that Nick was very naive when it comes to women. If I was Kalilah I don't think I would have taken Nick on his offer. But a man going after who he wants and that person was Kalilah. I was so enthralled in their story. I like the father and son scene, that was very clever. Now I'm anxiously anticipating Dex and Cayla story.

Great,Great,Great!!!!

Damn, that was an incredible read!!
It was refreshing to see a confident woman helping a man with his insecurity. Poor Nick had it so bad for Kalilah, and if he only know that her feelings weren't far off from his...

Anyway, that was a great read!
I have a few unanswered questions that I am hoping will come to light in Dex & Cayla story!

This book was amazing I loved it so much 🤩😍. I loved how the author dealt with issues that is typically talked about more with females but is also experienced with males as well and the way how everything was portrayed was realstic and moving and that sometimes we don't understand that someone else is going through stuff because we stuck thinking about ourselves only

😍😍😍

I think I wanted to slap some sense into both Mark and Kalilah. Like communication between two people who have always been in love with each other really sucked. This was a cute love story but the build up to the good parts took to long to me and then BAM we are heading to the end. I am definitely looking forward to reading Dex story!

Nick Nick Nick....

FP, I had so much funny reading this story. Making him be the Virginia is literarily (made up, I know) genius!!! He was so cute about consciously loosing it. And I did want to bonk him over the head a few times! Poor Kalilah, Nick was Clueless! On to Admit It! I'm real ready for Dex Now!

Loved. I mean loved. I neverrrrr read books with virgin heroes. Call me biased but the idea of a menacing untrained dick is terrifying to me. But this book baybeeeee. The rizz was insane even when he was insecure he was still giving fine af. Third act breakup and not as much depth as I would’ve liked on the heroine is the reason it didn’t get five. 5/5
