I would have given this book a 3.5 if I could. It was an interesting book. I did not read it word-for-word, but skimmed parts. Some of the information recirded was interesting and informative. I felt the authors were too generous, focusing only on the good, faith-based informastion on the characters they reported on. They omitted some of the negatives about the characters they reviewed. It was informative and refreshing, but because it only focused on the positive, I read it with a bit of reserve. Overall,a good book and I will keep it for quotes and reference, but I probably won't read it again.
Essays, letters, and pictures of confederate soldiers and civilians during the war, especially ones who were characters portrayed in the film "Gods and Generals." The letters to loved ones are especially moving. And the reports of the vast revivals and conversions of countless soldiers, the work of chaplains, the many worship services held and well attended, is not something portrayed in history book. However, there are several historical errors and even one picture with the wrong capture.
