Ethan Lenox became a single father at sixteen when his girlfriend signed over custody of their newborn daughter and left to chase her dreams. Eight years later he’s a police officer, fiercely protective of the little girl and dedicated to his work. He’s never had time for dating and won’t allow any woman to betray his trust or abandon him again. But the intriguing woman who shows up to rent the room he’s offering has him rethinking his ideas.

Photographer Honor Sullivan is on the run. Her powerful, ruthless stepfather would do anything to advance his political career, including forcing Honor into an arranged, loveless marriage. Her sexy new landlord and his adorable daughter offer just the kind of refuge she needs, a home full of love and honesty, so different from what she’s endured the last few years. But Honor is unwittingly carrying a secret, one that could endanger anyone around her. A secret that could get her killed.

As the attraction deepens between Ethan and Honor, events from the past are closing in on them. Will Ethan once again lose a woman he’s come to care about, or is he willing to risk his heart to chase a new dream of love?

*****REVIEW CONTAINS SPOILERS*****

Heroes or heroines who have a child with someone else is not a theme that I typically want to read, but as I won this book for free, I thought I’d take a peek to see if it interested me at all.

However, now I know why I avoid them…. Ethan & Chrissy are 16 and have been dating for 6 months. When story opens, she has told Hero that she is pregnant after they had just had sex. Hero proposes but she tells him she doesn’t want to be a mother. She had planned to abort or put the baby up for adoption but Hero tells her that he will take care of the baby himself. He has her sign legal documents to give up her rights.

Eight years later, Ethan is now a single father & a cop. He has the support of his family who have helped raise his daughter. He meets Honor, the heroine, when she rents a room at his house and they immediately form a relationship. (Heroine by the way is running from a crazy Step-father & Step-Brother who want her to marry some man. There's a bit of drama on that front).

It’s not too long afterwards that they say ILY. However, on the night that Carson, Ethan’s daughter, asks him to marry Honor so that she could be her mom, things go downhill. First, he is hesitant/reluctant to propose to Honor because he feels maybe she will leave them eventually like his ex did.

Then on the same night, his ex suddenly shows up asking to see her daughter (the one she no longer has any claim to). She is now a doctor & living in CA and just came to see her & then go back home. Hero is furious that she doesn’t want a relationship with their daughter and kicks her out.

Then he doesn’t tell heroine anything about the ex showing up (Hero’s mother had to fill her in). Instead, he says some cruel things to her, shuts down & tells her that they need a break from each other. Days go by and the douchebag keeps ignoring heroine and states the following to his friend & family;

“Come again?” He rocked back on his heels and gave me a dirty look. “Let me see if I understand this. Honor’s been in your house two months—give or take. You’ve been sleeping with her nearly that long, you’re in love with her, and your daughter is close to her. Close enough, she’s asking if Honor’s gonna be her mom. The woman who donated her eggs in the creation of your child shows up at your house, and you didn’t talk to Honor about it?”

“Nope.”

“What the fuck is wrong with you?”

“Not a damn thing. I need to wrap my head around what’s going on before I talk to anyone. Besides, I told Honor we need to slow this shit down. Things are moving too fast, Carson could get hurt.”

“I couldn’t even make the girl who was carrying my child stay. There was supposed to be some sort of bond between us. Fuck!” I pulled at my hair until pain radiated over my scalp. “Goddamn it. We love her. If she leaves us, we’ll break. Both of us. Chrissy showing up today reminded me I fucking failed. I couldn’t even give my kid the one thing all children should have—a mom.”

“Why didn’t Chrissy feel the same way? For eight years the question had plagued me. Was it me she hadn’t wanted a child with? Did I do or say the wrong thing? Was I not good enough? Carson? What was it that made Chrissy leave us?”

So then the heroine is in a car accident and badly injured. The ex (who was following her) saves her life and he is so grateful that he asks her if she wants to spend time with their daughter (when all along he was resistant to that because he didn’t want his daughter hurt – especially since her mother was going to leave again!). The ex says, no, that he was right. And then he asks her:

“Was there something I could’ve said or done back then to make you stay?” She says no that she was not “mother material”. So then he goes back to heroine because apparently his first choice was not available to him.

So THIS is why I hate these type of tropes. All through this story, I kept wondering if the ex had changed her mind and wanted to work things out, would the Hero have dropped the heroine? Absolutely YES! And by the way, others may disagree with me and that is okay, but for me, I always felt reading this that he only made things happen with heroine because he needed a mother for his daughter & a sex partner. There was no romance in this story for me and I am so mad at myself for wasting my time. I guess that’s what I get for accepting a free book!

In terms of Safety, Hero is not a Manho. His father stated that he had ONS once to twice a year. Heroine I think only had one lover too that didn't go well. There is no rape or cheating.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 & 🌶🌶/5

This was my first Riley Edwards book and my first Single Dad romance.

I am very happily impressed that I liked this story as much as I do. What I mean by that is kids and romance books are typically a no go for me. It just isn’t something I’m typically interested in with romance. However, like I said I actually really enjoyed this story of Ethan, Carter, and Honor.

Ethan’s world changed instantly when his high school gf told him that she was pregnant. Not only that she was pregnant, but that wasn’t interested in keeping the baby. For Ethan, he knew right away that he would change his whole world for this baby.

Honor Sullivan has always wanted a big full family full of happiness, but what she got was far from it. So far I’m fact, she is attempting to outrun her past and “family” to save herself. It is because of this, that she finds herself at the door of Ethan applying for the room he has for rent.

Ethan and Honor have instant chemistry, even with the not so “meet cute” that starts them off. Neither can deny their attraction for the other even though they do their best to ignore it.

Ethan’s relationship with his daughter Carter is the stuff Daddy Daughter relationship dreams are made of. It is that relationship that Honor is first drawn too. I mean, he is smoking hot and a cop. As my mother says “I love a man in uniform”. The interaction between Honor and Carter is wonderful as well. As much as I say I don’t like kids in romance books, I certainly enjoyed every bit of Carter and her antics lol.

As with everyone’s past that they try and outrun, it generally finds them and stirs things up. This is exactly what happens for everyone involved. You won’t get any spoilers from me but just know that angst, anger, suspicion, suspense, and relief are coming.

⚠️Potential Triggers⚠️
⚠️Teen pregnancy
⚠️Talk of Adoption
⚠️Mentions of cheating (not MMC or FMC)
⚠️Various Law Enforcement situations

Ethan was an interesting guy. I liked how he stepped up at the start of the book, not many 16 year old boys would have made the same choice. I really liked the relationship that he had with Carson. That little girl knew her daddy loved her and would do anything for her, along with the rest of the family.

I liked Honor from the start, even if I didn't like how she initially met Ethan and Carson. Sure she knew she was innocent in her actions, but others would think she was a creeper. I was glad that both Honor and Ethan were able to get past that. I liked how things progressed between Honor and Ethan and the role that Carson played in things. It really sucked when things blew apart, because it imploded, Ethan's insecurities coming out to sabotage things. Things were very awkward for a bit until Ethan was forced into really facing what he felt and had to talk to Honor about all his pissy moods. It's a good thing that Honor has the patience of a saint and she listened to him.

I really thought it was going to be smooth sailing for them from here on out, but sadly that was not the case and one more drama popped up. Honor really had a calm head for how she dealt with things and knew she could depend on Ethan to save her with a few crafty actions and words.

The very end of this one was cute, loved how this family moved forward.

Fantastic story

This was another great story ive read book 1 and 2 in two day.

Ethan and Honor were a wonderful pair. Ethan had bern a single teenage dad and grew up before he was ready. Never having really dated, he lived his life solely for his daughter.

When Honor and Ethan became roommates the spark was getting hotter by the day.

I loved their romance. I loved how Honor took to Carson and the relationship that developed between them.

There were a few suspenseful moments that left you on the edge of your seat.

I cant wait to start book 3!

This book did not grab me as much as the first one. The set up and premise were good, if a bit far fetched. Ethan is a randy teenager, gets his gf pregnant, she gives up all rights to the baby and he becomes a single father at 16. Highly unusual.
Honor has lost both her parents at a young age. Moves away from her controlling step father to live life on her own terms.
Ethan and Honor initially meet by accident, tempers flare. Second meeting is a surprise to them both.

Despite the dramatic backstory, I could not get wrapped up in this book until at 75% through. Then all the action happened at once. There is no explanation for what happens to a few characters, leaving plot holes. I wish the author had balanced it a bit better. I also found several mistakes in the early chapters, which really annoys me.

I’m interested to know what happens with Carter and Delaney. Hoping their story is next.

I liked this book very much. I loved Carson she was amazing. I am not giving it a 5 star because I read this probably 4 days ago and I can't seem to remember why the MC's had a fight at the end of the book. I know they had one but don't know why and I think that just means the book is not memorable.

I loved this one. I couldn't put it down. Ethan finds out that at 16 years, he and his girlfriend are pregnant.

Fast forward 8 years, he's single dad to 8 year old Carson. Honor comes in the picture renting a room from Ethan... her mom just died, and her stepfather is an @$$. She's a photographer, and these two have plenty of chemistry 🔥

Compared to the first book. I felt this one was more about family and emotions. Again it wasn't military but police based.
This didn't stop the turning of the pages...lots of ups and heart rendering emotional downs.
At first I struggled with Ethan big time, he was a giant dick. But i had to stop and focus on Riley's writing. It was then I realised the problems a girl/woman would face is exactly the same as what the H is facing, It was a well defined role reversal. Something, I think. Riley likes to expose under her layers of clever plotlines.
I read an interview that did not like this novel so with that in mind I went into it then started to wonder why.
I'm not sure if this reviewer skipped chapters but I couldn't find what she was complaining about.
The pace rolled along nicely going through some daily routines but always, there was a reason to keep
page turning.
Ethan's character isn't as stoic as his dads or uncles but i found that his relatively young age and inexperience allowed for the learning curve of tidal emotions he was depicting.
The romance side was a steady build and the steamy scenes...phew!!
It was so exciting to hear all my faves popping in and out.
I thought there might have be another baddie in play but nope, another red herring.
It was a wonderful ending that left you smiling.
The family characters most readers already know, so there is only the depth of the H and h to be discovered.
however, in saying that, you can still read this as a standalone as you get brief descriptions of previous characters and their story along the way.
I'm lucky enough to be a member of an advanced reader group so I listened on audible. Same narrators as book 1 and again, i thoroughly enjoyed the tones and inflections both narrator's had.
This was different from book 1 but it still maintained the morals, ethics and importance of family which is Riley's MO. It makes for an awesome listen. Thanks Riley 😊

Ethan & Honor's story is full of smiles w/ a dash of tears & a whole lotta warmth. I loved the way they work through their communication issues (well, Ethan's communication issues...LOL) & how the relationships are written. There's also the steamy goodness, and a great bit of suspense woven in as well. Thumbs up!!

Chasing and keeping Honor😍

Ethan left us at the end of Saving Meadow with a nice little bombshell....he was sixteen and soon to be a single dad😳 Fast forward eight years and him and Carson are doing well but he’s refused to move on with his life and find a woman to share his and Carson’s life with.

That is until Honor graces his door asking to rent a room in his house🤩 However, as they adjust to life with each other, both their pasts come crashing in. Will they survive their pasts or will it all come to a crashing halt?

This was a great story, but that ending left me reeling for poor Jason. I’m eager to read the next story but I know it’s going to be a tearjerker😢

I am just loving this series. This is the second book and is just as good if not better than the first one. I just loved Ethan and loved that even at sixteen he stepped up and not only embraced being a dad but put his daughter first and still made something of himself he is an all-around good guy, Honor has had a tough time she lost her mum and did not get on with her stepdad so she leaves with very little and starts fresh, she rents a room from Ethan and it is not long before the sparks start to fly between them. I just loved the chemistry between them and really enjoyed their story.

Very good series continues

Ethan has been raising his daughter by himself. Him and his extraordinary family have done an awesome job. Carson is such a sweet and loving little girl. Honor becomes everything that Ethan and Carson need and they become everything she's ever dreamed of. There's a crazy man lose though that will shock you.

Chasing Honor: The Next Generation Book 2 is by Riley Edwards. This series is a spin off of the Black Ops Romance: 707 Freedom Series. Ethan’s story is the first of the stories of the children of the men in that series.
Ethan wanted to follow the footsteps of his father and honorary uncles in service to others; but joining the military was not the way for him to go. His brother Carter definitely was and had become a Navy SEAL. But being gone all the time and the ultimate stress of the military wasn’t for Ethan since he was a single father. So, he joined the police force and served in that way. He had become a father when he was sixteen and his girlfriend intended to give the baby up for adoption. With his parents’ help, he had weathered the storm and was bringing up a wonderful daughter, Carson Rose. Luckily, besides his parents, he had four honorary uncles and their wives to help him as he finished high school and attended college. Since right after Carson’s birth, he had not seen nor talked to her mother, Chrissy. She hadn’t even looked at Carson. He was very protective of Carson so when he noticed someone taking photographs of her in the park, he pounced and made her delete them.
Honor had left her step-father’s home in California taking only the things she had bought herself or had brought with her when her mother remarried. She had never liked Frank nor his son and never intended to have anything to do with them. Thus, she found herself in Virginia to make a new life as a photographer. She was passing time taking pictures while she waited for it to be time to talk to a man about a room for rent.
When she found the house and went to the door, she was astonished to see that the landlord she was to talk to was the man from the park. After that questionable meeting, she ended up renting the room rom Ethan. Would this roommate business survive? Would she be able to keep her distance from her step-father who never liked losing?

Baby daddy…

But not in the way you think….

At the end of Nicks book we saw how Ethan’s story would start…..and what a start. Something that most young men would runaway from he ran towards.

Fast forward a few years later and Ethan is kicking butt and being a girl dad. His daughter is his whole world. And I mean his whole world…their relationship and how close it is just jumps off the table. This amazing little girl is just so integral to the story and yet doesn’t detract at all from the Ethan/Honor storyline at all.

Honor had a rotten time and since losing her mum has lost her way a little. Making a break and a fresh start should be the best thing for her but she finds herself quickly in the throes of falling hard for her new landlord, and even harder for his little girl.

I love how the story progresses and how Ethan being a father was weaved into the story rather than only brought up when convenient. It felt much more naturally than other books of the same trope I have read.

The end was a car crash (in the best way) and whilst I am of course super happy the hea was reached, I can’t help but wish Honor had made Ethan work just that little bit harder for forgiveness.

The uncles (and aunts!) play a starring role in this story and seeing Lennox as a grandfather only adds to his hotness score if I’m honest ;)

Fab must read, do not miss this story

This cast of characters is starting to feel like family. I was impressed with how grown up and mature Ethan was. He stepped up in a huge way. I really liked Honor as a lead. My issues with the story came from Honor's past. It just seemed weird. However, I liked the connection that they had as a little family, and put that part aside.

Looking forward to Jason's book.

Can I just say I wanted to throat punch, Ethan, at times? LOL

I loved Honor and how open she was with Carson. Although Ethan could be so stubborn, Honor was the right person for him. These two were great together. This read had steam and heart. I loved the epilogue - one of my favorites.

Chasing Honor is the second installment in The Next Generation Series and is the single dad romantic suspense story of Ethan Lenox and Honor Sullivan.
Ethan’s world was turned upside down when at the tender age of sixteen he became a single dad after his girlfriend fell pregnant and wanted to put the baby up for adoption. Ethan couldn’t allow that to happen so had her sign over custody when his daughter was born and vowed to love her and do right by her from that moment on. Fast forward eight years, Ethan is a dedicated police officer and a devoted and dutiful father to Carson. Ethan is so devoted to his daughter he has put dating on hold, he would rather lavish that time on his number one girl than someone who could betray his trust and hurt not only him but his daughter. That is until a not so meet cute with photographer Honor Sullivan and when she turns up on his doorstep answering his ad for a room to rent, Ethan knows its going to be hard to control himself around her. Will Ethan be able to lower his guard and let Honor in?
Photographer Honor turns up looking for a place to stay. She is running from her ruthless, powerful stepfather who will go to great lengths to advance his political career, including forcing Honor into an arranged marriage. Both he and his son are power hungry, misogynistic vile men who view women as business transactions and since the death of her mother she no longer has a buffer or an ally, so she runs and ends up taking a room and refuge with sexy police officer Ethan and his sweet as pir daughter Carson. She ends up with the home comforts she’s yearned for years, a home full of laughter, love, honesty, and an extended family that all support ne another. Honor finds herself falling for Ethan and Carson, the relationship she builds with father and daughter is beautiful. Honor is hiding her past from Ethan, will her past come back to not only haunt her but harm her and her new little family?
Troy Duran and Devon Grace are an absolute delight to the ears and bring these characters to life in the most incredible ways. Troy perfectly showcased Ethan’s need to not only serve and protect the community but to love, care for and keep his daughter safe and the internal battle he wages with himself over his feelings for Honor and whether he can open not only his heart but that of his daughter to something new.
Devon effortlessly portrays Honor’s wants and desires while also showing the beautiful relationship she built with his daughter and the secret she battles to keep hidden and the worry her past will catch up with her and ruin everything she has built with Ethan and Carson. Troy and Devon are a powerhouse duo that had me captivated from start to finish.
I’m a sucker for a single dad romance, add in a protective cop, a whole lot of cuteness with a sweet and sassy little girl, heaps of edge of the seat suspense and tons of spice…well, let’s just say I devoured Chasing Honor in one sitting and couldn’t have loved it more!

Heartfelt and Riveting: Chasing Honor Strikes Emotionally Charged Chords

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat: 🔥🔥

Riley Edwards delivers another emotional rollercoaster with "Chasing Honor," the second installment in The Next Generation series. As a reader diving into Edwards' work for the second time in this series, I was once again swept away by her ability to craft stories that tug at the heartstrings and leave you breathless.

OMG, once again, I'm left in awe of how the author manages to surpass the emotional intensity of the previous book. "Chasing Honor" left me utterly gutted, my emotions laid bare as I journeyed through its pages. Edwards has a knack for shattering your heart and then delicately piecing it back together, leaving you reeling long after the final page.

This gripping tale is filled with plenty of angst and mystery, perfectly intertwined with the tender blossoming of love and romance. Told from dual POVs, we're granted insight into the inner workings of both main characters, deepening our connection with them and understanding the complexities driving their actions.

Ethan Lenox, a dedicated single father and police officer, is fiercely protective of his daughter and wary of letting anyone close enough to betray his trust. Enter Honor Sullivan, a woman on the run from a ruthless stepfather, seeking refuge in Ethan's home. Their chemistry is palpable, but Honor carries a dangerous secret that could threaten everything they hold dear.

As their attraction grows, so does the looming threat from Honor's past. Edwards skillfully weaves a tale of love, danger, and redemption, keeping readers on the edge of their seats until the very end. Will Ethan and Honor find solace in each other's arms, or will their pasts come back to haunt them once again?

"Chasing Honor" is a must-read for fans of romance with a hint of suspense. Edwards has once again proven herself as a master storyteller, leaving us eagerly anticipating the next installment in this captivating series.

This is an audible review!
Please listen to this incredible story….

Each and every character in this book holds there own!
This is a story of many lessons! Some are straight in your face others creep up slowly…

From the minute his world changed at 16 Ethan stepped up doing what was honourable and right… he pushed aside his fears, the unknown, sacrificed dreams and moved forward in the only way he knew… he shut his heart and self from the world!
Honor gives love freely, fights for her independence and doesn’t back down from what she wants and needs…
Through their coming together they learn to adapt, compromise and own their vulnerability in a way that is so heartbreaking and heartfelt!

Carson is incredible feisty, loveable, honest and unashamedly gets her points across! She has been nurtured by the best possible women! The relationship with her dad Ethan and the men in her life is heartwarming and steadfast!

What I loved the most was that we judge people for their decisions, we don’t understand so therefore we are right and they are wrong…this thought process stifled Ethan! When he really saw the why and that it’s ok to be who you need to be then all the angst, doubt and self preservation dropped away… I loved how Chrissy was developed as a character. it was an beautiful part of the story. She showed real strength, courage and bravery in the midst of an uncomfortable relationship and situation.

The family is incredible and it goes without saying I love those aunts and uncles… then mix in angst, suspense, the uncertainty and all the emotions you can think of plus the incredible narration which makes me feel like I’m part of their lives and adds another layer to this journey.

Ethan becomes a young single father at the age of 16. When Chrissy informed him of the pregnancy she told him she did not want to be a mother. Not allowing Carson to be put up for adoption he sacrificed all of his dreams and stepped up with the help of his family and raised Carson.

Eight years later he is a cop and will do anything no matter what the cost to protect his precocious daughter. I absolutely adored Carson in this book! It was so refreshing to see the huge integral part she played in this story. I could not get enough of Carson and Honor's relationship and how much they both loved and cared for one another. Usually children fall within the background but Riley definitely made Carson seen and heard throughout the pages.

Honor is running away from her own past. She lost her mother, which shattered her and living with her step-father and step-brother was not an option. The first time Ethan and Honor meet was not a happy encounter. However, when they both realize she is the one coming to rent a room at his house, feelings begin to shift. As the story progresses we begin to see their attraction toward each other begin to unfold and their walls begin to break down slowly. But when their pasts catch up with them will they be able to overcome it or will their worlds be decimated?

I love that Troy Duran and Devon Grace continue to narrate the Next Generation series together! To continually have those two perform together has been a delight! Troy always brings the best with his performances. His ability to switch between Ethan, Carson and Honor's voices is so fluid and captivating you don't even realize it's happening. I can't get enough of Devon. Her voice perfectly embodies Honor's kind-hearted personality like no other and her ability to jump between characters as well is chef's kiss. She has definitely jumped up my list of favorite female narrators!

Charming love story with some pivotal suspense! Another winner from Riley Edwards!

This my fourth Riley Edwards novel! All excellent stories about the Sulivan clan (seems to large to be a family)!this multigenerational and extended family is one we all wish we had for support and backup when needed!
What appealed to me was first single dad Ethan was the perfect parent to precocious 8 year old Carson! Which is sexy by itself, but he is handsome, sexy and a great cop (protector). Honor is the beautiful, intelligent, resilient and kind woman we'd all adore as a bff! It's love at first sight, but of course the inevitable doubt and trust issues "complicate" their relationship! The entire Sullivan clan and his wise detective partner know they were meant for each other! In their insanely frustrating (for the reader)"flight scenario" everyone advises blockheaded Ethan to immediately grovel and beg to win back honors trust! Instead it takes a dramatic event to "pull his head out" and say the things he already knew in his heart but couldn't seem to communicate to Honor. (Well that part was certainly realistic)!
Chasing Honor is well titled and exguisitely written! I loved the characters, Honor, Ethan and delightful Carson so much. The rest of the family, who have their own books, are wonderful as well! (Okay, Ethan's loving brothers bust his chops and tell mean stories about Ethan in front of Honor, but it's all good as they say)!
This charming tale is heartwarming, sometimes emotional, panty melting and above all....extremely entertaining! I guess I'll go read Burn now!

Ethan and Honor

This was another great mix of new and old. I loved the continued use of the family saying, bone-deep. Just like in the first book in this series there were references to the 707 series and it was just as well done.

Ethan becomes a single dad at 16. The moment he finds out his girlfriend is pregnant, his life shifts. Eight years later he is still using Carson, his daughter, as a shield until he meets Honor. Honor is starting fresh and her first impression of Ethan is not great, but when she shows up on his doorstep to rent a room from him, he can’t help but feel he can’t let her leave. As they get to know each other they fall. Ethan has always been hesitant to let anyone into Carson’s life but Honor gets past all his defenses. Because of his past Ethan makes some pretty major mistakes and has to do some serious groveling, but with the help of his family he is able to see his mistakes and take responsibility.

I loved Honor’s relationship with Carson. She made sure Ethan knew her relationship with his daughter was separate from her relationship with him and she was put Carson first from the beginning. I loved the glimpses of them in the kitchen and the nostalgia those moments brought her for her own mother.

Ethan and Honor were a perfect match. She didn’t back down from him and made him give her the respect she deserved. Their dedication to Carson was endearing. Their moments alone were perfect. I loved this couple and their journey to a happily ever after.

Chasing Honor is the second book in Riley Edwards’ phenomenal The Next Generation series. I completely adored this audiobook! I have a weakness for single dad romances, and this story is one of the best I’ve listened to in a long time. Ethan Lenox left his childhood behind at the tender age of sixteen when he became a single dad. Years later, he’s convinced himself he is content with his life as a devoted father and police officer, but a kind and beautiful new tenant has him second guessing that stance. Honor Sullivan is on the run, guarding dangerous secrets that could destroy not only her life but that of her handsome new landlord. But the pull toward Ethan and his adorable and precocious young daughter is too strong to ignore. Together, they have to overcome obstacles from both of their pasts on the journey to their happily ever after. Troy Duran and Devon Grace truly shine in the audiobook narration. The character of Ethan is beautifully embodied by Troy Duran, and his impassioned and emotional performance is one that goes straight to your heart. Devon Grace gives an absolutely outstanding performance as Honor, effortlessly conveying the character’s inner turmoil and vulnerability. And both narrators are just sheer perfection when voicing Ethan’s daughter Carson, expertly capturing the joy, innocence, and curiosity that’s so beautiful in young children. Overall, this was and will continue to be one of my all-time favorite audiobooks—well worth any listener’s time, in my opinion.

The Next Generation series is fantastic! I have read all 4 books, out of order and enjoyed them all so much. I would recommend to other readers to read them in order even though each book truly stands alone. Ethan is a young single father. He and his girlfriend got pregnant in high school (which is before this story takes place). His girlfriend didn't want to get married or raise the baby together so Ethan decides to be a single parent with his parents help rather than give his baby up for adoption. It's now 8 years later and he is a well respected police officer and his daughter is his world. He decides to rent out a lower level apartment in his home and that brings Honor into his life. She's a photographer that has recently moved to the area to get a fresh start on her life. These two are so good together from the beginning. Honor is a great person and even though they are instantly attracted to each other they plan to move slowly for the sake of Ethan's daughter Carson. Well that little girl has one speed and it's FAST! As you can guess there's going to be some bumps in their relationship but there's also someone from Honor's past that plans to destroy her happiness. This story is action packed, funny, tear jerking, sexy and just plain good! It's told from dual POV and it will keep you glued to the last page then you're going to want to run and read the rest of the series like I did!

Who doesn’t love a single dad who steps up in every single way? The fact that Ethan did it at age 16 makes you fall for him just that much more. Becoming a single dad at 16 threw a wrench in Ethan’s plans to join the Army like his dad (Lennox from Free), but it didn’t derail his desire to serve. After completing high school and then college with his parents helping out with his daughter, Ethan is now a cop. Carson Rose may be my favorite character so far in this series. She is so secure in the knowledge that she is loved and she is so confident because of it. She is an absolute delight and I hope we get to see more of her as the series progresses. Honor needs a place to live and Ethan just happens to have a room for rent to help pay for Carson’s cheer camp. The rocky start they have creates just enough of an enemies to lovers vibe at the beginning that you can’t help but root for them. When Ethan finally puts himself first, after 8 years of focusing purely on Carson, sparks will fly.

This was my second time through this book. I read it the first time and listened to the audiobook for the re-read. Devon Grace and Troy Duran do an excellent job narrating. Completed in Dual Narration, I was not taken out of the story at any point. They are both clear and do a great job changing their voice up for the different characters. I’m glad these two are doing the whole series and I’m looking forward to the rest of the books with their talents.
