You know sometimes when you walk into a room and someone is watching a show that already started? You sit there and try to put together what's going on for a few minutes? Well that's how this entire book feels after the long-ass prologue which depicts the heroines first love, breakup and meeting her current husband.

I wish I had something good to say about this story, but unfortunately, I don't. It's dry and you never get a sense of who these people are. The dialogue is extremely boring and for the life of me, it made no sense why the hero cheated when throughout the book he can't stop singing praises about her. For me, that only makes him more of a creeper. The sex with OW scene was WTF reading for me and I wanted to gag. Then enters the heroine's first boyfriend. and so the cluster fuck begins.

And from then on I skimmed bc I was so weirded out by how choppy the writing was. I just wanted to see how he was going to get his wife back. When he finally did, it made absolutely no sense how the heroine does and about face so damn suddenly. I got whiplash! It was completely unrealistic...

I think what bothered me most is the hero's reference to his wife's sex as a 'fat mound'. REALLY?That right there pissed me the hell off! Then for fun, I did a word search with the word 'mound' And it came up over 10 times. Shudder...

None of the characters were likeable. The story was too choppy. And the characters did really stupid shit. The sex scenes were random. And there was zero romance. Ad to that the mediocre sex scenes with a 'mound'? I will have to conclude that this story overall was just... bad. For me it was anyhow.

The hero cheats on his wife with his slutty colleague, just because.
Heroine has revenge sex with her ex who’s still in love with her.
The hero doesn’t even use protection and after some weeks she tells him she’s pregnant.
Of course it’s false but she tells the heroine she’s expecting the hero’s child, the heroine for years hasn’t been able to conceive.
The hero wants heroine back and goes and get her at the hotel where she has just had sex with om.
Well, I don’t see much of a possibility of HEA for this couple.
IMO it would be better if they went separate ways.
I very much preferred om, the heroine’s ex, whom she left because he went to France to study. Really? He wanted her there with him, she left him because he wouldn’t stay. Nope.
Then she met the hero and I think that after his betrayal she called herself idiot many many times to have left om years before.
The hero was simply a zero, the usual cheater who cheats for no other reason than because he is offered. Where is all the love for his wife? His wife tried to warn him that this ow was after him, but he laughed at her because she was jealous.
Two days later he cheated on her having unprotected sex with this bitch.
Nasty and useless man.
She was no better.
She used om who was a nice man to forget her husband’s betrayal.
The poor om was in love with her.
Nope.
I hate cheating but this one was disgusting and without even the slightest reason.

This book is not for me, I sadly forgot to read the blurb and ended up reading a scene between the married H and an OW... I also don’t understand the first chapters, which are about the h and her first love, who is not her husband...
My guess is this first love comes back at some point and then she uses him to revenge cheat on her husband, or something equally dumb.
Overall : cannot connect with the story or the characters and hate reading graphic details about people cheating.

DNF

Starts out rough with a long prologue detailing the h's first love. (don't care) There may be angst, but I'm not patient enough to get there. I know he cheats, but she went to sleep with ex before even confirming...which I find immature. (and I don't understand why he cheated in the first place if he loves her so much) The writing is choppy, I can't connect with the characters... and am creeped out with his "fat mound" references.

DNF. Twice! I just didn’t care about either character and I didn’t get far enough into the angsty part to get hooked.

So the story goes like this:

Nonsensical breakup between h with her college bf

Time jump

Heroine (and I'm using that term lightly) is now married and happily married and lets you know time and again how much she loves her husband. He's her soulmate, la-di-da.

Husband waxes poetic about heroine, goes on and on about how much he wuvs her, and *says in Mr. T's voice* how he'll kill a man who thinks to touch what is HIS!

Insert foil in the form of his beautiful, buxom and stereotypical office maneater. She comes on to the H, in subtle ways of course, and he thinks nothing of it.

Denies, denies, denies what his wife sees between the office hussy and himself, because its just unfathomable that there was any flirting going on, its all in your head, boo, which pretty sums up his reply to wifey, when she sees the office flirt doing what a flirt does best.

So naturally that means the husband has to go on a weeklong business trip with office hussy and one other coworker who is just there kind of taking up space. One thing leads to another...

Wifey's suspicions are thus proven correct. Finds out about her...well she wouldn't really let the husband come clean, but she infers what he's done. Then she sets about having revenge sex with the boyfriend she broke up with at the start of the novel.

Now I'm sure you're thinking there's got to be some major groveling going on, on both of the wife and husband's parts, or at least an explanation from the husband on how he fell from grace. Hahahahahahaha. Nope. I guess this is like football where, if both teams commits penalties that cancels everything out, therefore no one has to pay any kind of penance.

We're not given any kind of insight into why Blake cheated other than the opportunity was there and he took it. But its insulting because of how much he claimed to be in love with Sage, yet all it took was one conversation with Blaire (office thot) about how she thought its unrealistic for two people to remain faithful for longer than an eye blink. Sow your wild oats into me, Blake is pretty much what she's saying and bam he's going raw doggy. WTF? If it was that simple to get him to cheat I do find it a miracle he remained as faithful to Sage for as long as he did.

Now Sage, she was quick on the draw of seeking out emotional and then later, physical comfort with her ex Dylan. And by quick I mean, she called Blake, heard another woman's voice, assumed the worst and 20 mins later was at Dylan's hotel and five minutes after that letting him finger her. M'kay.

Did Sage and Blake have marital problems? Other than some fertility issues which didn't seem like that big a worry for either one, and Blake being somewhat of a workaholic there was nothing to suggest either was unhappy. If you're going to write about spouses cheating, try, attempt to make it make sense. Cheating, imo will never make sense, but don't have a character just fall to temptation so quickly without there being a root cause for someone stepping out. And, if your goal is to bring the cheaters back together, let them talk about what happened, why it happened, and what they're going to do to make sure it doesn't happen again. Otherwise history will repeat itself, and the book comes off as being superficial drivel.

Overall marks:

Plot--2.0
Grammar--1.5
Ending--.5

Now, I know hubby fucked the OW in detail hours before the h thinks it’s happened. But instead of having it out with him first to know for sure, she goes over to her old BF’s hotel and fucks him. I lost all fucks given at that point. AND I didn’t like the h anyway so I could care less.

I should have loved this plot. The execution ruined it for me :/

I’m 1 starring this because it’s so poorly written and convoluted, with so many threads left hanging, it deserves no more.

Note to self: cheating hero, unprotected sex with co-worker. Deliberately cheating on his wife, even hangs up with her when she calls him in the middle of the act. At least she revenge cheated on him with her ex bf. Wish she chose to divorce him and stayed with the ex. But no, she took his cheating ass back. Besides that, writing style is cringing.

Sage &Blake

Wow, that was a really great read! I absolutely abhor cheaters, therefore ready to hate Blake... However,he is redeemable! Like most men, he let the little head do the thinking for him, after the skank plowed him with alcohol, thinking he can get away with it, just this once! What's happened in San Fran stays in San Fran!! Damn ass, the skank that seduced you is not done with you and will not giving up that easily. So, you would think, when confronted by his wife, he would come clean and show remorse... Nah! Stupid as stupid does, he lied! Like I said, DAMN ASS! When the truth comes out, all he'll broke loose...
Anyway, it was really sweet to watch him feel what his wife felt when she learned of his twist with slutty Blair, after she told him that she slept with Dylan. Oh boy, does that hurt!?
But, like I said, he is redeemable,, he truly regretted what he did, and it was a one time thing, and even though Ms whore tried her best for a repeat, he wasn't interested. That makes him forgivable in my book!
I hurt for Dylan, he is such a great guy. The first break up, was because I'm my opinion, Sage was a brat and not willing to meet him half way or compromise and Dylan didn't fight for his woman.
He lost her twice! I am glad they left in somewhat a good note!
Kudos to Blake for man up and fight for his woman!
Great 👍

My rating: 2 1/2 stars

What I liked: I liked how Sage(h) went to Dylan (I’m all about the getting even, I just wished she didn’t feel guilty over it). It was great reading how upset Blake(H) is when he sees Sage in only a shirt at Dylan’s hotel room.

What I didn’t like: Blake was an a$$hole and deserved all his misery. I wished she made him suffer more. I needed more of them discussing him cheating (yeah he apologizes and tells the h he loves her but he screwed up. I needed to know why he did it and I wanted her to bring up that I called and you hung up to go screw ow.....I need this addressed)

How hot was it: 3 out 5

Triggers: Cheating. He cheats with a co-worker while away on business (he was drunk but not that drunk) h evens calls and he tells her he will call her later and continues with the co-worker. h finds out (co-worker answers the H’s phone) and sleeps with an ex that is back in town. Also, co-worker lies and says she is pregnant but she isn’t. H tells co-worker he doesn’t want her and that she is to put her resignation in.

Final thoughts: This book was confusing at times. I think my problem is that they went from her being mad, then them having sex and him moving back in. There wasn’t enough of them discussing the cheating for me.

I didn't love it, it was ok. It's a love drama with real life couple issues.
I really think my problem with the story isn't exactly the cheating but the immature characters. The betrayal from both sides was like watching a tennis game, it was a revenge thing.
So I think Sage and Blake really loved each other but they cannot find a way to express it to each other...

I’m just on one of those streaks where I want to see how bad some books are.

And this was bad. Errors galore and very foreign-soap opera vibes, yknow?

What honestly did me in though and had me laughing, was the prologue. So the h had a first love (OM) who was her college bf. She waxes on for a while about how he’s her soulmate or whatever, and then they break up. The reason for the break up?

So the OM got a job in Paris - this is a change in plans seeing he and the h had always planned to stay in New York. He asks her to come with him - he’ll look after her financially, she can study there, and he says he wants to marry her. He was also willing to do long distance if she wanted to finish her degree in the US.

What does this smooth brained heroine do? Loses her absolute shit, “you PROMISED you’d stay in New York, how could you betray me like this?!!”. It was very confusing bc she dramatically runs out of the restaurant and basically just ghosts him and that’s the end of their relationship. And yet, for whatever reason, the following years she acts like SHE has trust issues bc of all of this. Why the fuck would she have trust issues all because her ex wanted to *checks notes* commit to her lol

I will never forgive a cheater, especially if it was a husband!
I mean seriously? Sage literally thought that she was not enough for him and she was absolutely right! And The weird thing is that they were happily married and in love with each other!
Now what does that entail about Blake?
and at some point she thought the penis of her ex was bigger than her husband's 😂😂
I didn't relate to this book for the slightest! I was crawling to be done with it! And The fact that the bastard said husband was interested in Blair and the way she smelled and they were so intimate with each other and had a chemistry is just so off to me!
The whole way I was putting myself in Sage's shoes and thinking she would better get a divorce, move out from New York and live somewhere else, she could even go to Paris! Adopt a puppy or something, get back with Dylan and goes on with her carrier. But to get back to the cheater???? That was not in my repertoire!
This book sucked big deal 😏

It was a nice read, but not great, hence three stars.

The story started with potential. However, I felt that the potential was wasted as the story continued. He was portrayed to have suffered, when in fact the reader saw little of such action. Therefore, it seems that he was easily forgiven.

In addition, the novel lacked of exploration of the topic of cheating, as well as the meaning of marriage. While other novels and their heroines debated on the question of fight or flight or in such case, stay or leave, there is not much time devoted to that. There is also little communication happening between those two.

For all these reasons, the novel felt rushed and hence, underwhelming.

Ummm

This was a well written book and I’m a really big fan of Theresa but from the very beginning of this book I had in my head that it would be sage and Dylan and as the book went on with her and banks it just didn’t feel right .First ,what kind of friend would invite your ex over knowing your husband was out of town and didn't tell you .Blake don't even get me started with him .He allowed Blair to continually flirt with him on many occasions and then he made his wife feel like she was being redicious for feeling that way then ,the weak excuse he use to sleep with her and to not even wear a condom .I just can't with this ,I guess my heart was set on sage a Dylan that nothing helped me like the ending

Oh my.

Great book but man I think Blake needed to suffer a lot more and so did Blair. Blake’s reasons were BS so he needed to grovel and suffer. Now with that said sage screwed up,when she went to Dylan also. I get it it was to hurt Blake like he hurt her but dang. These cheating books kill me but I love to read them. Great book.

To forgive

To forgive or not to forgive is the question. When a marriage losing trust is it irrevocably broken or can it be mended. The answers are in this book.

I was totally confused at the beginning of this book cuz I thought Dylan was going to be the MMC, but apparently, it was Blake who came out of nowhere. So Sage is totally in love with Dylan and she's totally sure he's proposing, except he's actually moving to France to run the family company's office over there. He wants her to come along or at least keep their relationship, but Sage has a tantrum like a child, refuses to talk about it cuz he won't stay, and she runs off. He texts and calls for a freaking YEAR before he finally gives up, but the amazing Sage never responds and gets offended that he dates other women. FFS! Then suddenly, still in the prologue, she meets Blake who is the greatest guy ever. We don't get to see their relationship build, we move on to them being married, and everything's perfect until he starts working late all the time. Of course, there's a beautiful colleague who flirts with all the men and they all think she's the most beautiful thing ever. She's touchy feely and makes inappropriate comments to Blake, and he even forgets his wife exists at a work party where he's talking to the OW (Blair). When confronted by Sage, he blows her off cuz Blair isn't interested in him. Never mind he's had inappropriate thoughts about Blair but nothing would ever happen cuz he LOVES his wife. He goes on a business trip, Blair is there, of course, and she throws herself at him, and he just can't help himself. Sage calls as he and Blair are getting started in the hotel pool. Blair says something in the background, so Sage knows, but he literally says not a good time, I'll call you later and hangs up and turns the phone off. They go back to Blair's room, have sex and Blair answers his phone at like 3 am while he's sleeping, and she hangs up on Sage. So Sage knows, but she pretends to be stupid when he comes home, and she continues sleeping with him and whatever like nothing happened. She doesn't confront him about any of it cuz Dylan showed up and she kissed him after all of this went down with Blair and Blake. Seriously?! You couldn't confront your cheating husband cuz you KISSED an ex? Still a GD child. It all finally comes out, Sage uses poor Dylan who keeps telling her he's never stopped loving her and wants to be with her. She sleeps with him, Blake comes and drags her home from his hotel room, and they live HEA because ya know, she's just as terrible for sleeping with Dylan AFTER the affair is confirmed and thinking Blair is pregnant with Blake's baby. I guess two wrongs don't make a right, but I don't think she has anything to be sorry for. Seriously one of the worst books I've ever read. Have another by this author because I love the cheating and OW drama tropes, but after hating this one and reading reviews for the other one where apparently the FMC has cancer but keeps it a secret from the MMC, and he cheats, and oh poor her, I don't think this author is for me.

A bit of a train wreck.

I really liked the premise, but upon starting the book, the writing is very simple.
I love reading angst-driven books, especially ones with OW drama/cheating. Unfortunately, this one left me wanting more. There was a lot of back and forth with both the H and h making truly bad decisions. It didn’t feel natural, and the h was a hypocrite. She was intimately involved with her ex before she even knew for certain that the H had cheated. Then, when she left the H (quite rightly), she ran straight to her ex. Her inner monologue says, “I realised I couldn’t have an affair”… while lying on a bed with her ex and his erection against her ass. I know her husband cheated, but she went there as well. She doesn’t owe anything to the H after what he did, but at the same time, I’d like a bit of acknowledgment from her that she cheated as well before knowing without a doubt that the H had cheated. What if he hadn’t cheated… what then? Would she have acknowledged that she did cheat? It just felt very contrived.

The following quote had me shaking my head; it read like a bad episode of Days of Our Lives.

~ ‘I wanted Blake above all else, but I also wished I didn't have to hurt Dylan in the process. I could not have two men!’ ~

I was over it by then, drama written for the sake of drama. They were both as bad as each other. I skim read the rest, until this bit caught my eye:

~ “I—I don't want to lose you as a friend, either. We will have to start slow—and get Blake to understand. But, in time, I think he will be all right with the idea. He has to be, because I won't have it any other way.” I looked up at Dylan's intense stare. ~

Seriously! So the H had a one-night stand and cheated on her, but then the h enters into a relationship of sorts with her ex while still wanting the H. Then she has the audacity to want to continue a friendship with her ex, after she decides to reconcile and the H will have to like it or lump it! For ffs, what a hypocrite. The h turned out worse in my opinion. I felt for Dylan as she just used him.

I definitely would've DNFed if the book was any longer than it was.
