After ruining his chances with Sebastian, Meik is plagued by the past and haunted by the present. His escape: booze and sex. But the memories of Gabe continuously well up and never ebb. They become an ever-present companion he cannot escape.
Will he hoist himself out of depression to seal the past and face the present or will he lose himself in the bottom of the bottle?
This is the fourth and FINAL book of the Gay Erotic Romance "Obsessed". It features explicit adult m/m content as well as romantic elements. Warning: mentions of illness and death.
The final instalment in Meik and Sebastian's story finds Meik's life spiralling out of control after Sebastian walked away...
I started reading this series expecting smut and erotica and that's exactly what I got in the beginning but as the story progressed it turned into so much more....a love story past and present.
The more I read about Meik the more I fell for him.Definitely not an easy character to love, although even when he was being an asshole,I couldn't help liking him.If ever there was a case of the past defining someone this is it.I don't want to give too much away but if you've been reading this series you'll probably have a good idea about what happened in the past with Meik and Gabe but I hadn't expected it to be told with so much feeling. My heart broke a little bit here....
Told only from Meik's pov Sebastian doesn't feature much here,it's more about Meik and Gabe's story and getting the reader to full understand why Meik is the way he is today. Will he face his past and fight for Sebastian? I was routing for him all the way.
My only negative is that I was desperate for Sebastian's pov. There is a short Epilogue but I'd love something more from these two further down the line.
This is a series I stumbled across and one that I've really enjoyed.
Don't be put off by the fact it's a series. The books are all short. Book one is currently free, Books 2 & 3 available on KU.
Meik and Gabe… what a romance! Authors Quin and Perin capture all the lush promise and desperate passion of a first love, and pour it into Obsessed #4. That we know from the start it’s doomed? *wails* Now I understand why Meik’s so broken.
The flashback scenes in this episode are wonderful and we get an intimate look at Meik as a young adult. He vacillates between the brash and confident man he shows the world, and the man he allows himself to be with Gabe. Meik as the sweet seducer, the caregiver, and devoted best friend is a total turn-on.
What a difference from the Meik we meet at the start of Obsessed #1… the Meik that Sebastian falls for.
The best part of this series for me is watching Meik figure himself out. As scenes from his time with Gabe gradually reveal his experiences, and shed some light on his actions, this complex character becomes very intriguing.
Meik has to figure out how to move on, and this is one hell of a journey. There’s no quick and easy fix here and it gets messy. Even at the end, with all the layers peeled away, Meik still has a long way to go. I can’t remember the last time I cried like this over a book, and while this one put me through the wringer emotionally, it was cathartic as well.
The authors mention in the Afterward that they’ve put all four episodes of this series together, edited to include some extra scenes from Sebastian’s perspective. I’m definitely going to get my hands on that, because I really like Sebastian’s character. After all, with a title like Meik & Sebastian it’s only fair we get a little more!
5+++ How much can my heart handle ... it hurt, it broke, it shattered.
Amazingly written story!! Harsh, emotional... going sooo unbelievable deep... to the deepest parts of my emotions... so much of everything...
Meik hit rock bottom... realizing he did the worst to Sebastian and it’s irreversible... He can’t get his life back on track. Finally we get to know the real Meik... and goshh is he something!!
The previous parts showed a hint... even small... I felt it... there is more...much more than only delicious overwhelming smut And then...... nooooo... oh.. noooo... I knew it was coming... but like this...? I’m a wreck... can’t even write my review because my eyes are blurred.
An emotional rollercoaster... it started all with a sweet and kind drizzle and ended with a tidal wave... a tsunami... of feelings... it dragged me with it and I almost drowned.
Superior written story! It had so much sparkling energy. Clever developed with various angles.. Meik was enchanting in this part. I read it in one breath... it brought me to my knees.! Extremely captivating journey of four short stories, it had everything!! I didn’t want it to end!
Highly recommended
Of my 250 books I already read this year, this is my 9th 5+++ and so deserved. It had everything !
Kindly received an arc from the authors and Gay Book Promotions
Quin and Perin offer a unique perspective on the erotica and romance genre. It's a refreshing and powerful change. As with each previous novella, the character development and world building is continually strengthened. This novella did have less steaminess to it than the others, however the emotional intensity couldn't be better. I do wish this had been longer, but that's mainly because I don't want it to be over. I have completely fallen in love with the characters and the story these two gifted authors wove.
Sobbing. I'm just ... sobbing. Partially because this series is (for now) over (although maybe we can talk the authors into another one ...). I'm also crying because GABE!!!! OMG GABE!!!!
The love story of Meik and Sebastian began as lust with no emotion, no meaning. Imagine stubborn Meik's surprise when he actually starts falling for the kid, but due to past pain, he fears "falling for" someone ever again. Sebastian, however, isn't so easy to forget.
We get a ton of backstory on Meik here, especially in regards to his first love, the adorable Gabe, so a lot of Meik's assholery makes a ton of sense. The sex scenes were sweet, the character development excellent, and Meik's desperate effort to win Seb back highly emotional.
Yeah, last book in the series, I know ... but give me more maybe??
This installment follows the theme of jumping back and forth between the wreck Meik’s life has become since he screwed things up so spectacularly with Sebastian and showing what happened ten years ago with Gabe (the sole reason behind Meik’s current issues). The authors did a great job creating a character you can love to hate and hate to love, that’s for sure. Meik is such a total jackass through most of the current time of this story, but we see an entire different person when we learn about Gabe. Interestingly, it seems he was a bit different with Gabe than with others, even back then, but nothing to the degree he is now.
In current time, Meik is in a major downward spiral after Sebastian left. He has been self-medicating with booze and hookups (none of which can hold a candle to Sebastian, and all of whom leave Meik longing for him even more than before). He has had some epiphanies about his life, his feelings and his future and knows he must apologize to Sebastian at the very least, but that is easier said than done, as Sebastian is nowhere to be found.
I really enjoyed seeing more about Meik’s earlier life with Gabe, even though we already knew it didn’t have a happy ending. Much of this installment takes place in the past or with Meik beating himself up. I found I really missed the Sebastian page time. Thankfully, there is an epilogue to show us how things ended up, but I really would have liked to have seen more of the time between the reunion and the end. It just felt a bit rushed. The writing was definitely noticeably tighter by book 4, and I would be interested to see how this story reads as a whole, as opposed to installments. Either way, it was a fun and interesting ride, and I’ll definitely be on the lookout for more from this writing team.
This is the last one of this series and don't worry about a happy ending. It has a happy ending. Though it felt like a HEA, from what I read about Meik, it was a promise of a HEA. Though this is actually Sebastian and Meik's story, Gabe's story outnumbered Sebastian in this installment. We finally got the story about Meik's backstory and why he's like that. Sure he's an a**hole for Sebastian, but sometimes, memories and hurt stays forever.
My only complain is that the ending wrapped up a bit rush, I though this book could be more satisfying if the authors add a few more chapters at the end, so we can get a complete story of Sebastian. I admit, this one is a better part then the previous one, I don't hate Meik anymore :)
My heart broke for Meik. The flashback scenes of him and Gabe made it a lot easier to forgive Meik's previous behaviour. They were so perfect together, young and sweet and in love. I really enjoyed the final part of this series. It really helped me understand Meik. I'm glad for the way it finished. 4.5 stars
I really enjoyed this. I highly recommend reading all 4 parts together (soon to be released as a set) because this really is a serial and each book relies on the previous for full enjoyment. Particularly this edition which ties up all the plot lines of the earlier books.
Those that have read the other books might be disappointed that Sebastian makes such a brief (but important) appearance in Obsessed. #4 focuses on the (up to this point) mysterious Gabe. The book also gives great insight into Meik, in the end giving the reader a full understanding of who and why is, who he is.
Aside from the very enjoyable reading of the Meik & Sebastian stories, I hope readers will take away an important thought about people. We are all an accumulation of our life experiences. Even the most disagreeable person has wonderful qualities if you know where to look for them. We should never write people off without truly giving them a chance, looking behind their mask and into their hearts.
4.5 stars Meik was redeemed in my eyes with this final installment. Finally realizing he really needed Sebastian in his life after being in denial and doing everything he can to overcome it. He succumbed to the inevitable. Finding Seb and reading that final scene closed my throat up and made my heart ache at the same time. Flashbacks with his times with Gabe and the conclusion to their story gave Meik's character much depth too. It made the story complete because there was closure. I loved these characters and I loved that I can read about them in Rich Kids 2 still very much in love as a couple. My new go-to authors Quin and Perin for the next level of smut and a different kind of love story. They delivered.
Wow! This series has kept me on my toes, and eager for more, as I’ve read each installment. Honestly, I didn’t think it could get better than part 3, but Quin and Perin showed me it could. I don’t want to get all spoilery on you all – but you guys – all the answers!! I had a love/hate relationship with Meik throughout the series and at the end of book 3 I found myself softening a bit, then face palming. This last book really pulled the whole story together and let’s just say I kinda love Meik now. Meik had to hit rock bottom to be able to see that he still has love to give, and that he is also worthy of that HEA.
This one is probably my least favorite only because I needed more of Sebastian. The extras in the Quin&Perin Dungeon just were not nearly enough. I NEED MORE!!!
But damn...Meik pulled at the ole heartstrings. I love a struggling asshole finding his way. <3
And to say I was a blubbering mess at the end would be putting it mild.
This is not your usual romance but it's still about old love New love and second chances. Meik will frustrate you and you'll want to kick his butt but in the end you finally understand his reasons for being an ass. And as always Sebastian is the "medicine" that just might heal Meik. A perfect ending to the perfect not so perfect love story.
Oh what a shame these boys are over!!! I really enjoyed Meik and Sebastian’s journey! Their ups and downs and the reality set in for Meik after we left off in #3! After Meik’s downward spiral of self destruction, drinking and trying to get over him by finding random strangers, Meik needs to pull himself together and chase his HEA! But searching the city, can fate play apart of his search? I loved the snippets of year ago as it gave us a better understanding of Meik ‘s past! ❤️❤️❤️
I just wish we got more of these guys! I’m not ready to say goodbye!!!
Review in English and Polish || Recenzja po angielsku i polsku
Sebastian finally confessed his love to Meik. However, the answer he received, forced him to leave and completely disappear from the life of the man who stole his heart. And although Meik quickly understood that he had committed an unforgivable mistake, when being drunk he called Sebastian by the name of his ex-boyfriend, he is neither able to fix it nor explain himself, as the young, homeless musician vanished into thin air. The memories of the past that Sebastian started to regularly awaken in Meik, now come as an unstoppable wave that floods the man who is forced to finally face his past.
I think that from the very beginning of this review it should be noted that the story constituting the fourth part of "Meik&Sebastian – Obsessed" is very different from the ones we have read so far. It focuses primarily on Gabriel and Miek, in other words on the past, which we have been exploring bit by bit over the last two installment. On the one hand, it's certainly an advantage that we have an even greater and more detailed insight into the past of these two, and what's more, we can finally find out if our predictions concerning their fate were true. And so we know with great certainty what made Meik the person he has been so far, and in a sense, we also understand what made him so interested in Sebastian during their first meeting. However, the disadvantage here is the fact that our young musician has very little space for himself. In this part, Sebastian doesn't really exist, as he's mostly just a thought that constantly appears in Meik's mind, which is a shame.
Let's move on to the next topic, as the great advantage of the story presented here is certainly the fact that Meik's evolution as a character reached its last stage. Our image of him as a person is now as completed as possible in the case of the main fictional character. Thanks to this fact we are able to quite clearly outline his psychological profile, and we undoubtedly owe it to the authors. Let us note that in this part of "Meik&Sebastian – Obsessed" we finally have the opportunity to see what Meik has been hiding so far and what he was running away from. By becoming more honest with himself and reconciling with his past to finally take a step on the road to future, Meik does a 180, and we really should praise Quin&Perin for that. And although I admit that in this installment of the story, the emphasis has been placed on the past, not on the present thoughts and feelings of the lead, the reader is really able to make the most of this last part of the novel.
Finally, I would like to add that the fourth installment of "Meik&Sebastian – Obsessed" is to a large extent a real tear squeezer, and it's all because of Gabriel. The reader already had the opportunity to fall deeply in love with him, but now our feelings strengthen as we learn more about him. I admit that the authors played really unfair because they stole our hearts using the character who is part of the past and whose way to the fictional present is closed. Thus, Quin&Perin put us in a dead end situation, as we can't resist Gabriel's cuteness and charm, and at the same time we are fully aware that in the end we will suffer. It is a pure sadism and lack of compassion for readers!
To sum up, the fourth and the last part of "Meik&Sebastian – Obsessed" is a really emotion-charged ending of an amazing story that the reader will remember for a long time. This installment might seem a bit incomplete, but if we combine it with the previous parts, it creates something fantastic and wonderful. So I think that "Meik&Sebastian – Obsessed" is really worth reading. I love this novel with all my heart and I'm sure that you will fall in love with it too.

Okay, thank you. This was THE book, however, I did miss Sebastian.
I loved Gabe. It all made so much sense. Since I read all 4 books in less than 24 hours, I might have been spoiled. I can't imagine having to wait in between books. I'm not sure what that experience would have been like, but binging was so worth it. I liked each book progressively more, and now, at the end, I understand Meik and I have come to really like his character. I loved how Sebastian pulled him out of his funk and made him love again. Amazing.
Who knew Meik had that in him....not I...I hoped..BUT, these novellas were supposed to be pure erotica...no more...no less...but what a wonderful surprise to find out that Meik was WAY more than this super Alpha Dominant guy who treated people not necessarily like dirt but like they were there to serve him. Losing Sebastian brought on this trip to Meik's past and brought us to the understanding we needed for WHY he was the way he was. I liked Gabe, I was intrigued by Sebastian but in the end, Meik has my heart.
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
This is book 4 in the Obsessed series, and you MUST read book one through three before you read this one. You need to know how Meik ended up in this position. And they are all 5 star reads from me! I would STRONGLY recommend you don't read these unless you have all 4 parts in your possession. They are addictive, and cliffhangers and you will NEED that next part so badly, it will hurt. So, yeah, all FOUR parts, ya hear me??
But this one?? Not so much. Still really great, just not quite hitting the spot that the others did.
Why?? Because I was CONFUSED!
At the beginning of this book, Meik is drowning his sorrows in booze and sex. Or at least he's TRYING to. The sex thing seems not to be working so alcohol is his drug of choice. What I was confused about was WHY! At the end of book 3, Sebastian tells Meik he loves him, and Meik responds. . .not badly, but with the wrong words. Here, Sebastian is just GONE!!! It took me far too long to figure out Sebastian must have left Meik, and that was why he is drowning in galleons of whiskey. FAR too long, and it spoilt it slightly for me.
BUT!!! We get another side of Meik, while he's drowning his sorrows: the loving, sweet teenager about to have his whole world broken by the loss of Gabe. We get all that, in the memories that flash up between the now bits. Gabe's illness and diagnosis. His failing health as time goes on. Meik and Gabe's growing physical relationship, despite Gabe's illness. The total and utter LOVE that Gabe and Meik have for each other screams at you in every snippet of those memories. And you get to understand a little bit more why Meik fights so bloody hard against the love that he has for Sebastian. So bloody hard! He doesn't want to feel that kind of pain again.
And he does LOVE Sebastian. He just needs to find him to tell him. Pulling himself out of a week long bender took some doing, but I'm so glad that boy did it! Just when he thinks he's lost Sebastian for good, he finds him. And with the RIGHT words, tells Sebastian he loves him.
It would be nice to catch up with these two later down the road, it really would. But for now, a very fitting end to the story of Meik's Obsession with Sebastian.
Quin & Perin continue to surprise with the fourth book in the Obsessed series. The series concludes in a very unique way, the focus shifting more to Meik’s origin story and keeping us on our toes until the very end!
After the utterly evil cliffhanger of book 3, it’s no surprise that Meik and Sebastian have had a falling out of sorts. The L-word is still something Meik has a lot of trouble accepting, and he fights it. So hard. Yet he finds out to his despair that no amount of drinking is enough to drown his sorrows, and no random hook-up can erase Sebastian from his heart. Love has found him a second time, now will he have the courage to embrace it again?
I adore Quin & Perin’s writing style. They are brilliant with picking the right word or comparison to make the reader understand just how much their character is feeling. I love the way they cut off sentences to create more tension and heighten emotions.
Meik is blunt, arrogant and cold (on the outside), so seeing him so vulnerable and sweet with Gabe, was an endearing change of pace. Knowing what was coming didn’t make it any easier to read though. Meik’s emotions are raw and overwhelming, his grief so real. Heartbreaking. He’s totally forgiven for closing his heart off like he did.
Sebastian remains a bit of an enigma. So more Sebastian would have been nice, but he's always an important part of the story, whether on or off page.
This has been such an original series, so refreshingly different. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
Amount of sex 3 / 5 How explicit is the sex scenes 3.5 / 5 Story 4.5 / 5 Overall: 4.5 / 5
Meik&Sebastian: Obsessed # 4 is the fourth and final book in the series. The plot has been a continuation from book to book, so you will need to read the series in order. The third book ended with a big cliffhanger, and the fourth book begins two months after the event. Meik has been dealing with the consequences of his actions and having a hard time coping. As a result, he’s been drinking, hooking up, and reflecting on his past which leads him to make some hard decisions.
I always have a hard time saying goodbye to characters that I love and Meik&Sebastian: Obsessed # 4 was a bit bittersweet. The storyline was fabulous as always, and it flashed back to Meik and Gabe often. I would say Gabe took up a majority of the fourth book, but it helped me understand Meik better.
I loved how the series ended, but I was hoping for more! I would have loved the epilogue to have been wrapped up a little further. I would say that it had a HFN ending and my heart was hoping for everything to be wrapped up with a big bow. I’m wondering if Meik and Sebastian will make an appearance in any of Quin Perin’s future novels (wink wink nudge nudge). 😉
I feel so...gutted. After three episodes of hard-core erotica, the authors take off the gloves and dig into emotions. Deep emotions that make me so angry and sad and ultimately relieved.
This book was like a tower-drop ride at an amusement park - ratcheting the tension up and up and up and up and then BAM, you're at the bottom and THE END and your heart is in your throat and you left your stomach at the top and then all of a sudden it passes you on the way down and your heart and stomach slam into the ground, leaving you breathless and wondering wtf just happened.
I almost feel cheated that in the interests of brevity, the authors left out a big chunk of story. Intentionally. Dammit, I want to know what happened between the last chapter and the epilogue. Not necessarily in every gory detail, but more than a fade-to-black and here's the epilogue.
Please understand that if Quin Perin were not good, if the story weren't good, if the characters were not carefully drawn, I wouldn't care. I'd have been glad it was over so quickly. But they are that good, and the story is that good, and I feel cheated because I waited out that cliffhanger of Book 3 only to get the tower drop in Book 4.
So now, I wait until they put them all together with additional scenes promised because I'm so freaking invested now, dammit.
I was really looking forward to reading this final book of Meik and Sebastian’s serial. Book three ended on Sebastian walking out on Meik. Which was a great cliffhanger. I loved more of Meik and Gabe’s young love which explains more about what turns Meik into the hard unlovable man he has turned into. Unfortunately the ending was a huge let down. It was lacking Meik’s outpouring of his feelings for Gabe and Sebastian. Poor old Sebastian was given a brief account of what made Meik tick. Where was the dialogue of Sebastian forgiveness and steamy makeup sex. Books 1-3 were full of raunchy sensual scenes that brought to life their attraction. There was zero “ getting it on” in this book. It all seemed so abrupt and hurriedly finished. What was with the epilogue?. Phone the almost in-laws?. I feel entirely let down. Lots of questions remained unanswered. These could have given us a lovely HEA “what does Sebastian do for a living now, does Sebastian become an equal partner in their relationship, not just his boy”. I feel almost bereft. ☹️ I do hope my review is seen by the authors and they rethink the ending. An extended epilogue would be great and I believe not just for myself. I am sure other readers would enjoy an enhancement.
I really like Quin/Perin stories, it's something you can see if you follow me. I've been read almost every book they have. I know their style and I LOVE IT. But this series... God, so fucking frustrating. This ending was the most unsatisfied end I've read the last months so far. This was supose to be a Meik/Sebastian love story, and it wasn't. I know how much Meik loved Gabe (his ex) than he does for Sebastian. I really hate the way Meik treated Sebastian. Like a whore or less. I know that it's something exciting sometimes, but in this context, it isn't. And, suddenly, he is in love with Sebastian?? Go fuck yourself. I'm pretty sure this is a abusive relationship, not a love story. I couldn't feel love anywhere (well, when Meik speaks of Gabe, you can feel it, but that's all) I didn't like Meik. I'd could love the young Meik, but the present is an asshole I can't handle him. And theres so much sex. Like, SO MUCH. I'd prefer to see more story development instead of all that sex. But whatever. I only read the series from Meik POV. I know theres a whole book with Sebastian POV too, and maybe I read in the future, but right know I'm so angry to read this story again.
I'm sorry if my English is not perfect but who cares.
*Warning, this review may contain spoilers for the first three books in the series.*
I so don't want this to be over!
Watching Meik develop over the series has been amazing. I hated him in book one, but at the same time, I could feel the vulnerability underneath. In each installment, we've seen more and more of the man behind the mask. In book four, we finally get the backstory of Gabe and what happened to turn Meik into a bitter man. I loved getting to know Gabe a bit and my heart broke right along with Meik's.
While book four is extremely light on the steam, Q&P have pulled off my favorite kind of series: hard-core erotica with an underlying romance an character depth. There aren't enough stories out there that walk that line in my opinion.
I will say that book four felt quite a bit underdeveloped and rushed. I'm rating it as 4 stars because of what led up to it. I adored the series as a whole, though I'm really looking forward to the combined novel with Sebastian's POV interspersed. I think that will fill in what felt disjointed for me and bump it up to a five-star read.
5 stars to finish out the Meik and Sebastian novella series by Quin Perin! Cannot be read as a standalone and contains some spoilers for previous books in this review.
**Possible Spoilers Below**
Meik is spiraling without Sebastian. He’s gone on an alcohol bender with memories of Gabe and Sebastian playing in his head constantly. The turning point is when he gets kicked out of his office by Lillie during an important client meeting. Will he finally be able to pull himself out of his depression or will he drown in his memories?
While this series is about Meik and Sebastian, Meik and Gabe’s relationship is at the forefront for much of it. The absolute love and care he shows to Gabe throughout his memories is beautiful and heartbreaking. Even with this being a short story, you can feel what he’s feeling, you know why he’s on a bender to forget everything and why it won’t dull the memories of either man or the pain. Book 4 doesn’t have the same erotica feel as the previous ones do, but there are lots of sexy times and firsts between Meik and Gabe. I loved the ending with the hint of an HEA and new beginnings.
I've waited for so long for this book to come out and it didn't disappoint! The series of books are so well written they are captivating. The reader is able to build up a picture of the characters and watch them grow and develop. This was the perfect end to this series of books. The way the book is written allows the reader to understand the back story and the here and now. Meik is the sorts of character the reader shouldn't like but there has been something about him that attracted me. Meik has tried to forget Sebastian but that's not happening no matter how much he tries! Meik is forced to !I've through his younger years which is where he thinks it all went wrong. This incite into his past gives the reader a better understanding of the man Meik is. Meik makes up his mind to find Sebastian but that may not be as easy as he thinks. The book is so well written as is this series that it's hard to put down. This was the perfect ending for these men. I can't recommend this book strongly enough or in fact the Obsessed series. I can't wait to see what's next from Quin Perin!
