Gracie May Sawyer can’t wait to get home to the Smokies for Christmas to announce her engagement to her dreamy Italian fiancé. Only one thing stands in her way of her happily ever after, and that is the guy she’s had a crush on since the sixth grade, her brother’s best friend and country music superstar, Cash Jackson. When she attends Cash’s concert to gain closure, destiny is not kind when she finds herself accidentally fake-engaged to her childhood crush.
Cash Jackson’s country music tour has come to an end, as will his career if he can’t resurrect his dead muse. His label has given him until the first of the year to come up with new material. When his best friend’s kid sister, Gracie Sawyer, shows up at his last concert in Asheville, North Carolina, they share a passionate kiss, which may just be the inspiration he needs. The only problem is she’s engaged to another man.
Proud to be a Cheesehead. I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. If you are able to withstand the frigid winter air, Wisconsin has some of the most down to earth, honest people around. I passed a very happy childhood there, climbing trees, and running along the river.
Proud to be a McEachern Indian. At fifteen, we moved to a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. The warm, Southern culture touched my heart.
Proud to be a Cougar. I attended Brigham Young University, where I graduated with a BS in Human Development.
Proud to be a Cuate. I spent a year and a half in Guatemala as a Christian missionary, spreading the message of hope and love. The Guatemalan people are some of the kindest people you will meet.
Proud to be a Human Resource Professional. I was employed for many years in the field of Human Resources.
Proud to be a Wife and Mother. And I thought that Human Resources was a demanding career. Nothing has been more difficult or more rewarding than being a wife and mother. My happiness is centered in the happiness of my family.
Proud to be an Author. Writing has been a source of great joy in my life. I hope to share with my readers a piece of myself in every novel. I hope to uplift and entertain others through my written word.
This book had all the makings for a good story, it just didn’t quite get there for me. I loved how it started and the initial backstory and buildup, it just felt so rushed and a bit too predictable as it finished. I wish it could have been longer and had more to it.

She stopped on herway home to go to a concert of the guy she had secretly loved for years. Trying to get closure before she married a guy she had met in italy. He saw her in the audience and when she got up and left, he made an excuse and followed her to the parking lot. He walked up behind her and scared her and she punched him in the stomach hard enough to knock him to the ground. But she broker her thumb doing this. He had to get back on stage, but he had her manager take her to the doctor on staff at the concert. There his singing partner saw her and and the diamond she wore on her hand, and managed to get them on stage together and told the whole world that they were engaged. And so the story goes on from here. How do they get out of of this fake engagement? Pretty soon there are pictures all over the internet of her punching him and she is being accused of being abusive to him. So read the story and find out what happens in this fun and delightful fake romance.
This one wasn't quite as fun as "Her Guardian Boss Fake Fiancé" that I just finished. The writing is engaging and the characters are decently developed. However, I did have some issues with the plot & Gracie.
There's no way Gracie wouldn't have listened to that crush song - even if it was humiliating, she would want to know just how embarrassing it was to know what she was dealing with
I couldn't believe that she would tell Cash she had ended her engagement based on leaving a message that she didn't even know if Andrea got - & not at least mention that info to Cash
Gracie is unreasonable - you don't have to be especially informed about the music biz to understand that Cash has a career that's based on creativity which he can't just turn on and off at will - and as an artist, she would understand that - and on contractual obligations
And you'd think her 1st concern about Cash not showing up would be that he might have been in an accident, but instead it's all about her.
And that really illustrates my problem with Gracie, sometimes she's likeable but sometimes she comes across like a self-centered brat.
So it was an amusing story, but that did reduce my enjoyment somewhat
I found it silly. Grace has apparently come home from Italy (without her fiancé) to tell her parents about their engagement. Along the way she decides to stop at a concert given by her once friend Cash Jackson. Cash's opening act misunderstands several statements and the next thing they know, Grace and Cash are announcing their engagement on stage.
We don't see or hear from the Italian fiancé much but he seems manipulative. The art galleries will only show her paintings if she's married to an Italian. It seems like he managed to get a gallery to show her paintings if she married him. Also, he tries to trick Grace into coming back to Italy with him for the show by telling her it was a round-trip ticket when it really was the last half of her original ticket. She's better off without him.
I was waiting for this to make a turnaround and catch me swooning for the main leads. But sadly, it just didn't work out well for me. The plot was ok but the twists and turns the author made just confused me more. There's the girl BFF, Ivy, that at times seem to have an ulterior motive to her actions, but at the end, was just that- the friend. I don't like it when authors do that just to not make the story predictable. It's like offering me something juicy only to yank it off of my hand once I have a hold on it. Anyways, it was clean and I did like the glimpse behind a singer/songwriter's life. But that's about it.
Cash is a famous country music star and Gracie is his best friend’s little sister. When Gracie stops at Cash’s concert to let go of her lifelong crush on him, a misunderstanding has the public thinking they’re engaged. A long awaited kiss at the concert starts their heartwarming and swoony journey to their HEA. The story included sweet moments, supportive friends and families, chuckles, and all the heart squeezing love. Despite being short, the story was well written and included witty dialogue, well developed characters, and an engaging storyline.
I liked this story. It started with a bang, especially due to how the fake-engagement between Cash Jackson and Gracie May Sawyer came to be. However, as the story progressed, I couldn't buy into Andrea's character, as it didn't seem convincing enough or fleshed-out enough to make him believable. And the same happened with the conflict towards the end of the book. This is really a sweet story, but I guess it just didn't work for me.
Not great, not horrid. Just average. This was not a favorite for me, just another run-of-the-mill Amazon romance. I always hope for great. Average is more common. Nice romance. Nice hea. Nice characters. Nice families. Too glossed over to be a great romance. But, it was average. If you’re happy with most of today’s offerings of ‘romance’, you should be ok with this one, too.
This was a wonderful love story how school kids drifted apart in their lives doing different jobs. Cash had to go to Asheville NC to do a concert. There, his school girlfriend was there to hear him. They found love again after a few mishaps and ended up getting married. It's a wonderful story and live 3 hours away from Asheville so could relate to some of Sarah writing.
This is a story of a new love and and older love. He's a country singer and she's an artist. She is engaged to an Italian, but, she's is also still in love with her Brother's best friend. So the question is who will she marry. And it is answered in the song that is sung at the end of the book. Love is grand
This book was one of the sweetest love stories I have read in a while.Gracie & Cas just bring it to life so much that you feel like you are living it. It is refreshing to read a love story without all the swearing & sex. Highly recommend it& will be looking to more of her books.
I'm afraid this story was too far fetched for me to believe and not far fetched enough for me to overlook it and enjoy the book anyway. It was just okay. Predictable. I didn't fall for either of the main characters. The idea was good but didn't work for me to be more than okay.
This is a sweet story of love finding it’s way back to each other. It’s an excellent example of how love can change a heart. “Love (God) bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.” 1 Corinthians 13:7 ESV (emphasis mine). Short, happy, enjoyable read.
When the boy next door is friends with your brother, how can you not fall in love? Then when years and miles separate you, is the love still there? A great love story with two talented individuals and the others muse.
I loved how they ended up engaged. Quite a funny awkward moment. Gracie had been in love with Cash for years. But it was time for closure. That's not what she gets. Great story, loved the characters.
Very inspirational story with believable characters and a refreshing story line. Good flow although there are a few spelling errors that are distracting.A sweet story for the holidays.I highly recommend this book.
His Best Friend's. little sister is all grown up and all the memories from their childhood come rushing back. Could she be the one his heart is looking for? Super sweet romance.
The story drew me in and left an imprint about love and seeing real love for what it really means - making each other want to be better every day and loving each other every time we fail.
He's not engaged. She is. Not to each other. Is it their fault that everybody jumps to the wrong conclusion? Gay presents a charming novel about two people who have lost their way and find it again. Recommended for all readers of strong romance.
Gracie and Cash are a wonderful couple any their love story is so sweet. You’ll love how their love just blooms as they work through some problems. It is love beyond measure!
Cash and Gracie were the best characters. Writing about a fake fiance had to be quite an under taking by any author so kudos to Sarah Gay for a book well done.
Love the story. Filled with comedy and love. Definitely enjoyed reading this character's journey. I felt they were meant just as their parents and family wanted to see them together after so many years!
He’s a singer, she’s a painter. She’s his best friends little sister and he’s loved her for a long time and now is his chance to prove it to her. But she’s engaged to someone else.
This is an easy to read book the characters are likeable and uncomplicated This is a little predictable but the shock of the mistakes engagement makes you interested to read on
This is definitely a Hallmark Christmas movie in a book. The unrequited love of youth rekindled followed by misunderstanding and the need to heal old wounds and grow. Very enjoyable, light reading.
I read this at the request of a friend who is starting to read in English, which is not her first language, and she chose this book. I didn't mind it, though I wouldn't have chosen it on my own. It was a quick, cute, simple, predictable, cozy, Hallmark-esq read.
Everything you want from a good country romance. Long enough for their relationship to develop into something real, lots of fun, a little bit of drama but not too much. You’re going to love Gracie and Cash!
Two people that have known each other most of their lives find themselves in a fake engagement. Will it turn real or will she return to Italy with the original fiance?
Love the story. Filled with comedy and love. Definitely enjoyed reading this character's journey. I felt they were meant just as their parents and family wanted to see them together after so many years!
