Rate this book
All she wants is a peaceful life. To live on her brother's quiet Wisconsin farm and write romance novels. But one night, fate intervenes.

When ex-reporter Cassie Martin overhears a heated argument between two men, her curiosity moves into high gear. And when one of them mentions a mysterious disappearance and "manipulating time," she has to have answers.

Aaron Reegan is the head of security at a secret facility in the Wisconsin countryside. When he happens to meet local writer Cassie Martin, sparks fly, as they realize they share dark steamy tastes. He never once questions her innocence or her motives.

Until the moment he realizes he's been betrayed.

A chance meeting... a technology that makes the Manhattan Project look tame... and suddenly Aaron is chasing Cassie back to fourteenth century France. To save her? Aaron had thought he'd met the woman he was going to spend the rest of his life with. But now, his only choice is to kill her.

"Outlander" meets "Fifty Shades of Gray," Time Bridge: Cassie is the first book in Time Bridge series. If you love steamy romance, time travel adventure, a smart-as-a whip heroine, and the sexiest hero to step out of the pages of a book in a long while, don't miss "Cassie." Mature readers comfortable with darker themes only please.

Warning: This is not a complete story. The story is published as two books. I toyed with a rating of 2 because of that. I hate when TV shows start out with an action scene to catch your interest, then do something like "2 weeks earlier" and show events that lead up to the opening scene. Now I know I hate it even more in a book.

I doubt I will continue on to the second book. I just wasn't enjoying it enough.

THERE ARE NO COINCIDENCES, ONLY CONSPIRACIES

What an amazing start to a new series by a new author for me, and one that I look forward to reading again. The story is an action-pack adventure that is full of twists and turns, mystery and suspense, cat and mouse games, along with romance and passion. Annie Becker describes herself and her writing as an American author of adventure romance, stories with smart, feisty heroines (who don’t always make the best choices,) smoking hot alpha heroes, and plots that are edgy and raw—just a bit outside of the mainstream. After reading the first book in the Time Bridge series, that is a pretty accurate assessment. The stories are ones that will need to be read in written order because it will be an ongoing saga, with the next book, Death’s Maiden, due out early January 2019.

Cassie Martin is back in Wisconsin, living in a small cottage on her brother’s farm, working as a waitress on the weekends at La Grotta and writing historical romance novels during the week. She is even a published author, with her second book to release soon, and in the works on her third one.

Aaron Reegan works at Goose Island as head of security with a top-secret project that takes place at the facility. He is former military, Delta Force, who was injured in Afghanistan and still useful to his government in a different capacity.

Syd Meyers worked with Cassie at the Chicago Tribune. He is chief of technology, and while not someone Cassie really cares for and considers creepy, he is the only person she can share some shocking information she learns about manipulating time and time travel.

The plot will have Cassie overhearing Aaron and another man arguing at the restaurant and even recording part of their conversation on time manipulation. She will involve Syd Meyers from the Tribune, and it will open a can of worms and set this story into motion. While she finds Aaron sexy, she also fears him at first. What happens when in all the trips back and forth to his neighborhood, she nearly runs him over, and it leads to more than him only being a customer at work? A conversation over ice cream leads to sexual innuendos, threats of spankings, and the beginning of a D/s relationship.

“Am I going to have fun with you.”

As Syd and Cassie learn more about the project and time travel at Goose Island, they must decide how to continue. Syd knows how to manipulate Cassie, and she becomes a pawn in his game. Spying on Aaron, Syd has gained insight to not only Aaron and Cassie but into Goose Island. Has Cassie made a deal with the devil when she consulted with Syd?

“Everything that ever happened is still happening. Once you’re down in the whole, you don’t dig your way out. As soon as this gets out, I don’t care how good your reporting is. It’ll be Area 51 all over again. Covered up by the government—Doesn’t work—Too dangerous—Never happened.”

The story is full of secrets, spying, mystery, suspense, adventure, theories, and then the BDSM relationship between Cassie and Aaron. She has always had a desire for a D/s relationship with spanking, and he fulfills that desire. The story has explicit sex scenes with discipline. I can’t wait to see where the next story takes us. Not everyone is on the up and up and surprises take place. The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly of people, and now lives are on the line. Has Cassie destroyed her relationship with Aaron, betraying him? Has she trusted the wrong man by turning to Syd for help?

“For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war.”

Cassie’s Temptation

Cassandra Martin mostly known as Cassie worked at La Grotta, a restaurant. She was a server. One day she was looking for a phone that a customer left behind. Stooping down to get it she over heard a bit of a conversation about time travel. Putting her own phone in place recorded the rest of the conversation. One of the conversation was by a man named Aaron Reagan which was a hottie. He graduated from West Point became army intelligence special operations,Delta Force top secret. Cassie played her recording and had to learn more. She became involved with Aaron. Not learning to much she called upon Syd that was once a coworker from the Chicago Tribune. Syd bugged Aaron’s house and found all the passwords to get to go to the past. Cassie took Aaron’s key card so she and Syd went to the past. Not having an anchor they couldn’t get back.

This is a new series and it certainly did the job of setting up a storyline that I want to return to. This book sets the background of what I am sure is going to be an exciting sequel. Aaron and Cassie have an interesting beginning that is fraught with dishonesty on Cassie’s part and I am not sure that Aaron is going to be able to easily forgive her deceit. I bet when he catches up with her he is going to give her a punishment that she won’t soon forget though. She has been very foolish and and I can’t imagine that her future is going to be too much fun. I can’t wait for the sequel. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Having read this book I can honestly say that I did like & enjoy every page. But, when I started I wasn't aware that it is book 1 of 2 & ends on a cliffhanger. I'd been reading the story & by my calculation there was still a significant amount of story to wrap up & not much book left when it came to the cliffhanger ending. So, be aware. It did draw me in & while I can see that some would think it slow, it's more like setting the background & relationships in place so that, as a reader, the story flows well. It was well written & while I'm torn over how I feel about Cassie, I'm happy to read book 2 to see how it works out.

Must Read!

I love time travel. I love the concept, I love the dream, I love the mystery. Annie's concept of time travel is a new one to me and the way she explained everything in lay man's terms made this book such an adventure. Aaron is just so, Alpha and so hot! Cassie while adorable, I sometimes questioned her unwavering trust that left her vulnerable and made her look like the most gullible woman in the world. I love the Amish presence in the story, an interesting look into a world we don't usually take the time to understand. This book has everything, hot man, steamy sex, intrigue, and time travel! I cannot wait til the next book to see where this story goes!

First time with this author and I was quite impressed with her ideology regarding time travel. It was not your normal “imaginary” type of interaction. Much thought and time was involved with the travel and possible ripples to modern time. Cassie and Aaron's interactions were hot, sexy, and off the charts! However, if you have a problem with BDSM, this is probably not your book. This is part one of a series and of course there is a huge cliffhanger. Absolutely loved this book and the characters!

Cassie’s Temptation is the first book I read of this author. And what an intriguing read it was! Cassie and Aaron do have great chemistry. He is a stern man who knows how to hand out discipline, but also does have a big heart. Cassie is a sweet woman but is holding things back which lead to some trouble. The only thing I did not like is that this time travel romance ended in a cliffhanger - but I guess I simply have to wait for the sequel.

I enjoyed this kind of a different read. Part time travel romance and part suspenseful mystery, with an added dollop of steaminess, the plot is somewhat unique to me and refreshing. This was my first book from this author and after reading it I am very interested in checking out future releases. This is my honest and voluntary review.

This is my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last.

The book starts with a bang and then goes back in time to tell the story about how the characters got to that point. It is well written and full of details.

It is a bit of a slow burn, but it fits the story and also gives the author the time to really get into the characters and their motives and also see how their feelings and actions change over time.

Cassie is likeable character. She is not perfect, there are flaws but that make her human and real. I really got her fascination with time travel, because who doesn’t want to go back in time?

I liked Aaron a lot. He was a good guy, who treated Cassie well and I loved how he supported her writing and pitched in when needed.

This book is the first part of a Duet, so it does end with a cliffhanger but the next book will be out in a few months. I can’t wait to read the next book and find out what happens next.
