Magic, Space Travel and Revenge. After being left for dead on the planet Tor, Tomas and his companions try to make the best of things. But just when it seems things are under control, they have some very unwelcome visitors. Change is in the air whether Tomas likes it or not. It isn’t the space voyage he dreamed about as a child, but he’s about to embark on a journey to Marrachi, one of the Seven Kingdoms planets. Two things keep him his new found love for magic and his burning need for revenge.
This is the second book in the Forbidden Spacemage Series.
Easy read with a good story line and some interesting characters. The only real issue that I had was the lack of Magic. There was some, but being a spacemage should have more than the odd bits here and there. Plus, his two or three days of training was just ridiculous as I mentioned for the previous book. I am glad some of the loose ends were tied up, but there is way too much left vague. I am interested in reading the next book and hope there is more magic to be found.
Ok, this was better than I thought it would be. The author actually had a growth and a story for the main character. Loved it. There is a decent supporting cast and a larger story to societal change/growth and advancement. Not looking for cumbaya feelings. Just reality with hope. A request, this is a character with a natural, untrained talent. Go the route of him actually learning and using his talent. Don't do the accidental, Angst ridden route. Make him start using his talent like natural athlete would use their gifts. He uses them, he experiments. He fails and succeeds. And with each success, he grows. Enough of the accidental learning, let's see someone actually grow with their power, knowing that theybarevonly behind because of how he was raised in his early years and now he sees where he can be more.
after the way the last one ended the opener was a bit slow and the much expected twist never materialised during the story, it did however I think work pretty well even if I would have expected the protagonist to have totally thrown himself at his new life and thus at least evolved to some level of epicness rather than just dragging his heels and not really doing anything, still the story was good and it didnt drag
I really got to dislike the main character the writer turned him into a wimp y character someone who supposedly wanted to learn magic but never did..and the second character was supposedly a great mage but allways seems to not be that good..! I was disappointed how th story turned out got to point where the MC was a idiot could not read anymore
The second installment is no more clear than the first, and while some of the story threads appear to have a specific direction even that appearance fades eventually. The plot is a jumbled mix of chance occurrences, planned actions and uncoordinated fumbling. At the end of the book I’m indecisive if I should continue the series.
Although the books are short (and seem to always leave you hanging), I'm really enjoying the adventures of Thomas as he learns to harness magic and deal with the treacherous situations he finds himself in without ever weakening in his goodness...
I left one star off because I don't like when people do stupid things especially when they know there doing stupid things. Still a good story with lots of twists.
