“Jess! Hurry up!' Michael shouted. “I want to show you something” I picked up my tea and notebook as my best friend pulled me away from my usual Starbucks spot. “Where are we going Mickey? I was in the middle of a breakthrough you know” I said, feeling annoyed and harassed.
“You're always in the middle of a breakthrough Jess.” Michael shot back, as he shoved me in his car and drove away.
Michael and I have been best friends since college. We were lab partners. He was already in the classroom when I first saw him. He was roughing it up with the other boys. He had jet-black hair and his eyes were deep. I will never admit this to him but I had a crush on him the first time I met him. He was dreamy and he always smiled but our relationship turned platonic immediately. I guess we never crossed the friendship territory because we didn’t want to ruin a good thing.
