I wanted a fresh start. I wanted adventure. What I got was two men, one giant town secret and enough passion to light me on fire- literally!
I moved to Utah to find myself, to find my destiny. What I found was love. I fell in love with the town, the people and two unbelievably sexy men. Roger was sexy and sweet. From the moment we met, he swept me off my feet. He impressed me, seduced me, and melted my insides. If you could bottle romance, the label would say Roger. But something was missing. I didn’t know what, until Luke. Tall dark and handsome, he sizzled my blood with just one look. He showed me his world. Roger swept me off my feet, but Luke saved me from myself. So who do I ride off into the sunset with? Romance or Passion? They tell me I have to choose. But I have to wonder- Why can’t I have both?
Adventure and Fire. Romance and Passion. Secrets and Lies. Who said small towns are boring?
Just loved this story! You can't resist the characters and their storylines. This is a wonderful start to this series!! Can't wait to see whom Rosa matches next!
I received this book as a gift and I am going to do my best to give an honest opinion.
This book is such a wonderful story filled with a plot and sub-plots all intertwining to join together at one point or another. I started reading the book and it had me captured from the very first chapter describing Rose Callahan’s Inn and the rich heritage that went behind it starting with her great-great-great-grandmother Kate. Rose knows that she has American Indian heritage but not exactly how it came about until she went up into her attic to close the shutters in preparing for a storm that was fast approaching. Suddenly the lights go out and she is in total darkness bumping into a stack of boxes knocking her down an almost landing on her. Daniel Benson one of the people that lived steadily at her Inn and helped her with things around the place had her the noise and came to her rescue. Before leaving she notices a book in her grandmothers things on opening it she see’s it is the Diary of Kate. Taking it to her room she begins to read the story by flashlight. The Inn had at one time been a brothel, then it had a speakeasy in it from the time of prohibition now it was an Inn for the tourism that came to them for the forest in the state of Utah.
Jill Martin was driving to Utah to start work as a wilderness expert for Roses Inn. It was funny how Rose handled the interview she hire Jill with in just a few moment not much of an interview at all. Her credentials were right for the job she had a Major degree in Environmental Science, and a minor in Outdoor education and Leadership. She is the adopted daughter of Jim and Amy Martin, though she loved them she felt that they loved each other than they did her. She researched to find her mother and find her she did. Josephine Holloway died shortly after giving birth to her daughter, she also found out she also had the name of Heseya; but there was no information about her father. Jill had an instant fondness of Rose who was several years her senior. Rose told her some of her own family heritage including the on fact that the town felt was the most important; that of being a match maker from generation to generation. Jill was a little pessimistic until Rose’s thoughts about her match seemed to be coming true when she met Rodger. Rodger works with the towns fire department and took to Jill the moment he saw her, it didn’t her that he swept her off her feet to keep her from getting burned. Then Jill met Luck though he was opposite than Rodger in some way and he tend to irritate her as well she couldn’t help being attacked to him as well. It boiled down to the fact that she would have to choose between the two men but she didn’t know how she was going to do that, she cared for both of them.
Let me tell you this is just a small portion of this story it is so full that there is no way to give it the review that it really needs. It is a wonderful story and I feel confident in saying that this is a book that has to be; I repeat has to be read you will not be disappointed.
Rose Callahan came from a long line of matchmakers. All the Callahan women for generations had the secret to love and matching the right people together. Her ancestors claimed it was magic; she figured it was probably just psychology in determining compatible personalities. Yet when thunder rumbled heralding a storm, she knew without a doubt that something else was coming that would change her life.
As Rose made her way to the attic of the Twin Peaks Inn to prepare for the storm, the lights went out. She bumped into a stack of boxes that toppled over causing her to yelp and a tenant, Danny, came running to make sure she was okay. As the last box was replaced, a diary fell out of it. It had belonged to her ancestor Kate who had started the original business in this home in the 1800’s – actually a brothel. There was also a flash drive in the back of the diary, but that could not have belonged to her ancestor, and without power, she could not use her computer to check it out.
Jill Martin was driving to the inn to meet her new employer, Rose Callahan. Jill loved the beautiful inn and was excited at her new job. Rose took her to the little town to get familiar with the area and they ate at the diner. Rose told Jill she was also a matchmaker and asked if she wanted to see how it worked out. The results were unusual, with two dominant love personalities. But rather than make Jill uncomfortable, she just said that she should look for someone who is attentive and romantic, someone to sweep her off her feet. They laughed about a knight in shining armor. Rose couldn’t wait to see how this love interest played out for Jill. Things would be getting very interesting in this small town soon!
Roger Mayer was a firefighter in town. It was his turn to check the fire code compliance in the older buildings around town. Roger had time for a slice of pie, so he entered the diner and sat next to his friend, Luke. When he glanced around the diner, he saw Rose sitting next to a stranger. The woman was beautiful! But just then, the waitress, with a full fresh pot of hot coffee, backed into the stranger as she stood up to go. The hot coffee went flying just as Roger grabbed the stranger and pulled her into his lap. Hmmm, could this be that knight Rose had told her to expect, rescuing her from danger? Little did she know that she would soon be meeting Roger’s passionate friend and fellow firefighter, Luke. How does a woman make a choice between romantic chivalry or wild passion?
This was an enjoyable book, well-written, great story line and pacing, realistic and likable characters. It has all the elements of a great read! Throw in a dash of magic and it’s a book you can’t afford to miss!
What I liked - I liked each main character plus Rose, who is basically a main character even though she isn't in the romantic relationship in this book. A lot about this book was unique - the presence of Rose, the coming about of the relationship, the "magic", the journal/diary roĺes, and more. It had a nice pace and was easy to get into.
What I didn't like - I don't like that Luke was a manwhore or how he seems to be proud of it. I don't like she slept with both men but only ended up with one. I thought this was an mfm book, There was a mfm scene that now bothers me since she only ended up with one of the men, but it still isn't an mfm because they do not have a threesome relationship. I don't like that Luke and Roger "shared" before Jill. It makes it all seeem less special and majes Roger sound slutty though he's supposed to be the opposite. The ending implied Roger would be getting a book next. I like Roger, but I was hoping he and Luke both ended up with Jill. Now, Roger and Luke are still best friends, and Roger's future love interest is going to have to see his best friend and the best friend's wife, a woman he's slept with. Roger is going to have to see Jill with Luke, and Luke will be seeing Roger, his best friend who has slept with his wife. Messy, and I don't like it.
Overall - Sweet unique story with likeable characters but has misleading description (mgm is not accurate since she ends up with only one guy) and messy (and potentially messy) relationship issues and connections. If it doesn't bother you that she sleeps with both men but only ends up with one, I recommend this book because it was pretty good. If that will bother you, steer clear.
TORN BETWEEN TWO LOVERS!!! Wow! I never saw this one coming. Oh man, this bad boy is one exciting, action packed, fast paced, nailbiting, pulse racing, spine tingling, page turning bombshell that grabs your attention from the start. So many twists and turns, ups and downs, a few glitches and unexpected surprises that keeps your focus on the pages as well as frozen to your seat. This little guy is so addicting you won't be able to put it down until the last word. You have a plethora of emotions and events that builds the drama and suspense rises and tension thickens as the story unfolds. Taylor's characters are well developed, believable and so realistic you have no trouble relating. Their personalities are unique with qualities and traits that balance out. The three main characters chemistry is instantaneous. Two have white hot, off the charts explosive chemistry and two have a sweet comfortable chemistry. Taylor's imagination and insight are so on point and true to form. Her scenes are so graphically descriptive it makes it easy to picture each scenario as it plays off one another in perfect balance. Taylor did a magnificent job bringing this little guy together beautifully. Fantastic job Taylor, thanks for sharing.

I read the author's first book, Innocence Lost, and loved it. Needless to say I was thrilled to find out she had a new book coming out. Destiny did not disappoint. The story was engaging. I enjoyed the incorporation of some Native American history. I also love the fact that the inn has such a colorful history, having been a brothel and a speakeasy. I hope we'll learn more about that history, as well as Rose's matchmaking questions and methods, in future installments. I liked the characters, as well, and watching Jill get to know both Roger and Luke. I was surprised how my view of the two men and who I was rooting for changed over the course of the story. I only wish that the book had been a bit longer so that we could have gotten to know all three a bit better and seen more of the characters' arcs play out. I know that love triangle's aren't everyone's cup of tea, but it is well done and fits well with the storyline. I will be eagerly awaiting the next book in the series.

The women in her family have a gift of pairing people up with their soulmates. She hires Jill to be the new Wilderness Guide with a live-in position. Roger and Luke are best friends who are firefighters. They both took one look at Jill and they knew they had to have her. They decided a dating competition would be best for her to decide which one to pick because she had feelings for both of them. Then one night changes everything…will she pick Luke, Roger…or both? What occurs that they both might lose her? This story is slow moving at first getting to know the characters. As it picks up so does the pace. You will not want to put this one down at till the end. Just when you think you have it all figured out…be prepared to be surprised!
I honestly was very shocked by the story. I totally expected this one to go a whole other way. I mean don't get me wrong, I honestly enjoyed the whole storyline. But I really thought that Jill would have kept them both. I mean the each satisfied a different side of her that the other couldn't quite do. It was a happy balance, or so I thought. Jill really shocked me with how cool she was about Luke and Rogers contest. But I also understand how her connection with Luke was stronger. He challenged her, pushed her past her comfort zone. That's how it should be in a relationship. I loved Rose and all her meddling too. I am glad Jill was able to meet her father and the outcome was in her favor. Can't wait to find the next book by this author!

Follow along with the characters of this well-written love story, which draws you in and holds you until the finish. Taylor Brent has outdone herself with this outstanding book that has you guessing from the start. There are ancient secrets to uncover. The mystery and indecision of the who to love. Friendships that are tested, and scenes that will have you squirming with sexual tension. Ms. Brent has the reader nailed to their seats, trying to guess what the next twist is coming and gnawing on your nails when they do. Make sure that you have time to read this book entirely, as once you start there is no stopping. I would recommend this book to all of the romance readers who like a little mystery mixed in. Now I grew up in a small town and it was fun, but not nearly as fun as where Jill moved to... my goodness I wouldn't mind finding somewhere like that to live.
I enjoyed the characters, I found them to be well-crafted and multi-dimensional which just makes them all the more real for me as a reader. The story line was put together really well and as you learn more of each of the characters and their stories the more you like them and the more invested you will become in the outcome of their journey together. Jill didn't move to Utah expecting to find love but what she did find there was so much more, she discovered parts of herself that she never knew existed and her journey of self-discovery along with these two fabulous men just held me spellbound.

She also meets his friend fellow firefighter Luke who teases and aggravates her but something about him is aroused by him. How will she choose between they two attractive but so different men. While struggling with this she finds out secrets about an earlier owner of the Inn. A romance to relax and enjoy

Wow! What a fantastic story! I loved this book - everything about it. The characters were all incredibly interesting and the two male leads were positively yummy! The story was unique and intriguing and well told and the author’s writing style kept everything flowing nicely. I actually read this book in one sitting - it was that good. The story had me laughing at very funny parts, crying at very tender parts and drooling at incredibly hot parts. This story oozed passion and erotic heat, but at the same time was incredibly tender and sentimental. A fantastic story! I am looking forward to reading more from this author.

This is my first time reading Taylor Brent and is a new to me author. I enjoyed the book but it got a little confusing at times within the subplot. Some of it didn’t make sense but I tried not to read too much into it since it wasn’t the main plot. The main story deals with Jill and her attraction to best friends Roger and Luke. She likes them both equally but for far different reasons. Deciding who she likes more is presenting a challenge for her. I personally didn’t care for Roger. Luke however is absolutely swoon worthy. He definitely gets my vote. Overall it was a good book but I think it could’ve used a little more story and it felt rushed at times.

I absolutely fell inlove with book..... not only is the story well written and characters endearing but the author has laid down a foundation that will have us enjoying more books and make this an amazing series.... Once Rose does a matchmaker test for Jill the older woman sits back and decides to enjoy the show as Jill's life is going to give the townsfolk something to talk about..... Jill finds herself having not one but two men interested in her, firemen and best friends Roger and Luke start competing and trying to outdo each other for Jill. Who will Jill choose, the romantic Roger or the playboy and passionate Luke?

This is a very funny book about an adopted woman that gets the opportunity of a lifetime to be a wilderness guide. Luckily, the woman that hired her is a bit of a match maker. So when Rose tells Jill that she is a match for two men, Jill has to find out for herself. As these two hunky firefighter start to fight over her, Jill sees that both Roger and Luke possess qualities she craves. Not wanting to hurt either men, Jill agrees to some abnormal dating arrangements. And although she is a wilderness guide, she could still use a rescue or two. I dont want to give away the ending, but this was an awesome plot to get lost in! Loved the characters and cant wait to read a follow up book!

OMG! I was hooked right from the beginning of the book. The twist, turns and drama Roger, Luke and Jill had to go through, to get the love they wanted and desired, was nothing short of mind blowing. The part each of the characters played in the storyline, was very well written and showed the author planned out the book very well. I can't wait to read the next book, hopefully about Rose helping Roger find love, as he really deserves it. This book is a definite must read with a high recommendation.

Destiny by Taylor Brent is an intriguing, engaging story that captivates the reader with more than the steamy romance. Jill’s story is well developed and interesting. Taylor Brent grabs your attention right away with this character as well as how events and circumstances evolve. I loved how this author brought characters together in a variety of ways. Overall a well written book that provided this reader with a pleasant surprise in addition to the HEA.

This author is new to me and I really love this story. Jill wants an adventure so when Rose hires her to be the the new scout for the inn, Jill didn’t realize how much adventure she was gonna get. Now Roger and Luke are best friends that work together but when they set their eyes on Jill their friendship is going to be put to the test. Rose also tells Jill how she gets feelings about relationships and she has one about Jill, but Jill dismisses the feeling and until she finds an old diary does everything really get going.
At first, I was a little confused but once I got in a couple chapters I started really enjoying the book. It was a page turner wanting to know if she would end up with Luke or Roger. I really enjoyed reading about Rose and how the story came about with her and Jill. I love what Luke did for Jill and her reaction to it. I love romantic stories and happy endings. I also felt as if it was left in a cliff hanger and left me wanting more. Thank you Taylor. I enjoyed the story. I hope there will be more to this story.
Never push your luck with destiny, because it will bite you when you aren't looking. Jill gets a job as a wilderness guide, meeting Roger and Luke both fire fighters. She lives in the inn as a guest of Rose. Rose comes from a long line of matchmakers. Rose tests Jill and is surprised to find out Jill has two romantic sides, but only tells her about one, waiting for Jill to decide if she wants Roger or Luke or both. What will happen next?
