Recent college graduate, Alexis Martin is at a crossroads. Does she pursue her dream of becoming a published author? Or, does she hide away at her parents’ quiet English inn? Little does she know that everything she’s ever wanted is about to find her at that very inn...in the form of a handsome, sexy, British movie star.
Luke Thompson has been the hottest thing on the big screen since he was 19. After 5 years of constant work, he is in need of a break. When Luke’s agent sends him to the English countryside, he never imagined the getaway would change his life forever. The beautiful Alexis has him feeling a magnitude of emotions he’s never felt before. The plastic women of Hollywood can’t hold a candle to sweet Lexi.
With a sexy spark and undeniable chemistry between them, Luke and Lexi are guaranteed starring roles in their real life happily ever after. That is, if a delusional stalker and a greedy ex don’t get in their way.
After all, soulmates will always end up together...won’t they?
Such a lovely and wonderfully written story that I read it in setting. The story revolves around Lexi helping run a secluded country room and board with her family when a famous movie star decides to book a room for a month. Luke becomes instantly enthralled with Lexi and she with him. There's plenty of steamy romance as well as drama from several shady people from Lexi's past and present trying to create chaos but it doesn't deter their love. If you love a great romance, you can't go wrong with this one. I highly recommend this one!
A very sweet contemporary romance. Lexi finds herself at a crossroads in life. She had a recent bad break up and decides to help her parents run their country English inn. Lexi's dream is to be a writer someday and hopes her decision will afford her some time to do that. It isn't long after she gets started working at the inn that a famous English actor becomes a guest. When Lexi lays eyes on Luke Thompson, she's intrigued. He's so handsome and has such a beguiling smile. Then as she spends some time with him and discovers he's a very sweet down to earth guy, she's smitten. Luke's feelings are much the same. He never expects his trip to get away from it all to turn up the most beautiful intriguing woman he's ever met. Soon sparks start flying between the two and things heat up fast. But is this budding love affair happening too fast and furiously for Luke or Lexi? This is a traditional happily ever after feel good story, which was a nice change of pace for me. I look for books like this, but often find ones with cliffhangers. None here. The characters were relatable and like-able and the pace was good. The story wasn't long and drug out. This would make anyone a nice afternoon read.
A Welcome Guest reminds me greatly of Shakespeare's words from The Tempest . . . although there's a different kind of tempest here. The love kind. Alexis Martin meets Luke Thompson at her parents' quiet inn. She is aching from a nasty breakup. He's a hot, exhausted actor looking for a little peace. Sparks fly from the beginning, and Lexi can't believe her luck — 'stuck' with Mr. Beautiful, all alone. The story unwinds from there, into a sweet romance with fairytale qualities in a contemporary setting. Don't worry (too much). Be happy and dream on with this fast read.
If you are looking for a sweet, easy love story, then you're in luck! because "A Welcome Guest" is just that. What girl doesn't fantasize about falling in love with a handsome actor? Well it happened to Lexi and the best part was that he loved her right back. I found this contemporary romance to be well written, smooth paced, easy to read and satisfyingly enjoyable.
A Welcome Guest by Dorothea Lynne is a sweet love story with all the requisite elements including a hot successful guy, love at first sight and moments of tension as the past raises its ugly head. It’s an easy read and I started and finished it in one setting. But that’s because it’s also a page-turner. I loved Lexie’s and Luke’s story! It’s well-written and engaging.
Poor Thea she married an awful man who treated her so bad. I wanted to go through my book and strangle him. But when her verbal abusive husband pays a British singer, Liam to take her away for a get a way sparks start to fly between them two. Good read
A Welcome guest is a lovely story of finding love. The couple are well-suited and you can see that from the start. The plot is steady and takes you on a wonderful journey, including the ups and downs of dating an celebrity. The author does a nice job of developing the story. I feel deep down that the book needs a final polish, which I found was the only real downfall. I found the beginning a bit tedious as most sentences began with a name or pro-name, which I felt slowed the story down. However, once I found my rhythm, it no longer bothered me. All in all, this book is worth a read to all romantic readers. The style is easy to follow and it not once of those books you need to concentrate too much on. The type I like to read in-bewteen the longer, more difficult stories that I usually read and would recommend it.
