Introducing Book 4 in the SHADOWS OF MAGIC series, full of snarky druids, kickass heroines, punch-in-the-face worthy villains, and just a dash of romance!
New to the series? Start with Book 1, BOUND SORCERY!
What have I been up to lately? Oh, just convincing the druids that a formerly-genocidal sorceress with death magic is a good candidate for a druid, defeating a millenia-old plot for control of the world, learning to stop time…
You know, same old, same old.
And it had all worked out, too. I was going to be allowed to train as a druid, and maybe take a few decades off from the absolute craziness of everyone’s plans to take over the world.
…Until we found out that Philip’s plans didn’t all die with him.
A group of humans has broken into one of the Monarchist hideouts and taken the sorcerers captive. Why, we don’t know. What we do know is their name: Onyx. And we know that those who have crossed paths with them are warning us to stay away.
But I’ve never exactly been great at following orders or backing down. And I’m getting these sorcerers back.
Natalie Grey grew up in rural New England, surrounded by a lot of vegetables and relatively little excitement. Therefore, she was obliged to make up excitement by pretending to be a knight, mage, jet-setting international assassin, jedi, or (occasionally) a shape-shifting dragon. She read everything she could get her hands on, from Lord of the Rings to Modesty Blaise, and eventually started writing her own stories full of what-ifs and snarky put-downs. Now she lives with her two German Shepherd mixes in the frozen wilds of Minnesota, and does a lot of inventive swearing while she shovels.
I've been pretty impatient, waiting for this book to come out, and it doesn't disappoint!! It was so easy to drop back into this world; like meeting up with old friends and dropping right back into the relationships (I know, it hasn't been THAT long :) I'm just an impatient reader). Just when Nicky and Daiman have "vanquished the enemy" and are looking forward to a little down time with the Druids, there's an attack... or lots of attacks. A new enemy that can, well, no spoilers, but this one is BAD!! New characters to really like an connect with, and to really hate; written so well that you may not get any sleep trying to finish this one!! Another winner from Natalie Grey!! (And another sequel to look forward to!!)
