Rate this book
The perfect family awaits...if only he'll risk his heart.

Pregnant and recently widowed, Grace Fisher is determined to provide for her family on her own. Thankfully, her jam business is popular in her Amish community. But it's difficult keeping up with her work, her farm chores, and her two mischievous children. Especially now that they've taken to idolizing their neighbor Elijah. While the handsome farmer is kind and generous, he seems intent on holding Grace and her little ones at a distance...

Elijah Beiler has always admired his neighbor Grace. So standing by while she struggles to support her family isn't an option. Offering to take over her farm duties, Elijah is determined to help while remaining detached. He knows all too well that love only leads to heartbreak. Yet the more time he spends with Grace and her children, the harder he finds it to leave each day. But can Elijah overcome past hurts and open his heart to this ready-made family?

It is a true blessing that Grace Fisher has a successful jam business. Grace is widowed, pregnant and has two small children. As a mother on her own in her Amish community, things will not be easy. However, it becomes apparent that Grace needs help. When neighbor and fellow farmer Elijah Beiler offers to help Grace, he wisely holds her at a distance. This is especially because he begins to develop strong feelings for her.

Elijah does the responsible and neighborly thing. He assumes her farm duties. As time wears on, however, he spends more and more time with her and the children, and his feelings indeed become attached. There are problems, however. There is the customary grieving period that must be met, and Elijah has reasons of his own to protect his heart.

The Amish Widow's Rescue is the third story in the Love and Promises series and it is incredibly touching. I found this story to be much deeper than the first two. There were issues explored when it came to Grace's relationship with her husband before his death that I'd not seen in the Amish stories I have read. This made this read exceptionally emotional and I felt so bad for Grace and the children.

This was an incredible read that I devoured in one sitting. This story drew tears of sadness, but I am glad to say that those tears were replaced with those of joy. Rachel J. Good is an exceptional writer and I will definitely keep on reading her books.

Although this is a singular story that could work well as a standalone, I would definitely recommend reading the first two books in the series, The Amish Teacher's Gift and The Amish Midwife's Secret.

Many thanks to Forever and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

As I was turning the first pages of this book and cringing, and feeling sorry for this hurting Amish family, I quickly became involved in their lives.
I could picture those little ones afraid to be children, and then dealing with death, and having to explain that not everyone was going to leave and never come back.
The theme of leaving and forgiveness is prevalent here, and the author uses great examples to keep your attention with some great examples that apply to everyone.
I enjoyed this story, and it quickly became a page turner that ended way to soon! Loved that the author gifts us with an epilogue!

I received this book through Celebrate Lit, and was not required to give a positive review

The Amish Widow’s Rescue
Rachel J. Good

The Amish Widow’s Rescue by Rachel J. Good is book three in her Love and Promises series. Though part of a series, this is a standalone novel. I’m new to this author, but I love Amish fiction so I decided to give Ms. Good a try. I’m glad I did.

Grace Fisher is newly widowed and expecting her third child. She’s determined to raise her children and manage her jam making business without assistance. Elijah Beiler is Grace’s reclusive neighbor. His past has left him distrustful of women, though he admires his attractive neighbor. Each much overcome their respective issues and find a way to live a full life.

The Amish Widow’s Rescue is completely engrossing. The characters are fully-developed and relatable. The plot is engaging and entertaining. I enjoyed this novel and give it 5 out of 5 stars. If you enjoy religious fiction, this is a must-read. If you don’t like religious themes, this is not the book for you.

My thanks to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book. However, the opinions expressed in this review are 100% mine and mine alone.

When Grace’s husband dies suddenly, neighbor Elijah helps with the children as she accompanies her husband to the hospital. He helps with her chores as she manages two children, a baby on the way, a jam business, and household duties. Elijah is distrustful of women after what happened in his own family. The two find themselves being drawn to one another in her year of mourning. The Amish in this novel are more progressive than in many others as they use technology in business with the bishop’s approval. It was an enjoyable summer read embracing truths without being preachy. I received an advance review copy through NetGalley with the expectation of an honest review.

A story full of hurt, struggle, and love. A good example of how finding the right person can change your outlook on life. Never give up on believing in love.

Although this is book 3 in the series it is able to be read as a stand-alone. All three books are good, clean Christian reads that can be read from teenager to great-grandmas. Religion is a strong theme but scripture and sermons are not heavy in the reading.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), through NetGalley. Any and all opinions expressed in the above review are entirely my own.

The Amish Widow’s Rescue was such a good book! If you are a fan of Amish fiction, this is one that you will not want to miss. It is book three in the series, yet can be picked up and enjoyed as a stand alone novel, too.

I really liked these two main characters. Grace and Elijah both had compelling reasons to fear romantic commitments. They both had trust issues, yet Elijah couldn’t help himself where Grace was concerned. He went out of his way to help Grace and her children when she was widowed. I loved the way he stepped up for them.

Grace was in such a difficult situation. My heart really felt for her throughout the entire novel. She started off as a wife in a verbally abusive relationship. She quickly became a widow and had to confront her feelings of relief from being free from her husband and his tirades. She also felt sadness and guilt as she questioned how she ended up in such a bad marriage. I loved the way she cared for her children and did her best to make things right for them.

The romance that bloomed between Grace and Elijah was very well written and believable. Watching both characters begin to open up and trust someone when they had been hurt in the past tugged at my heart.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

What a touching and endearing book about two hurting souls bowed down by grief and guilt who meet under less than desirable circumstances yet become very important to each other.

Grace Fisher has not had an easy married life. The happily ever after she dreamed of has not come to fruition and her husband is now dead. She is also pregnant with her third child and her oldest of her other two is only three. However, instead of wallowing in self-pity, Grace is determined to keep her children safe and happy with a roof over their heads with her jam business.

Enter recluse neighbor Elijah Beiler who comes to her rescue more than once. He unfortunately has declared himself a bachelor forever as he refuses to open himself up to having a family and then possibly losing said family. He has a lot of hurt from the past that he must come to grips with and let go. We are not told everything about Elijah and we find out about him and his family as the story moves forward.

Elijah also has a chip on his shoulder in regards to Grace. He jumps to all the wrong conclusions about her mothering, business, and her life in general. Poor Grace doesn’t know what to think of Elijah who at times offends her and other times is her hero.

I enjoyed watching these two characters grow and watching their love story bloom. This was a most enjoyable Amish story.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

THE AMISH WIDOWS RESCUE is the third book in Ms. Good's Love and Promises series but it does stand alone.

The book starts rather somberly with Grace, an abused wife, losing her husband. Pregnant and overwhelmed, Grace allows neighbor Elijah to assist, but Elijah is quick to judge Grace for everything he sees that he thinks is wrong. Elijah needs to learn that all is not as it seems and that appearances may be deceiving, and Grace needs to learn that not all men are abusive and they can be loving.

Fans of clean romance or Amish fiction might love Ms. Good's THE AMISH WIDOW'S RESCUE. The faith message is weak, but does focus on forgiveness.

I was given a copy. All opinions are my own.

I did not want to put this book down. This story was a bit different than most of the Amish fiction stories that I read. I loved how Grace and Elijah first meet and soon becomereluctant friends. They both had some problems to overcome during their lifetimes. This was one of my favorite books this year. I received a copy of this book from Celebratelit for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

This is the second Rachel J. Good book I have read. I loved both books! I was so eager to see how all the situations and conflict were resolved that I didn’t want to put this book down.

Rachel has such a wonderful way of describing her characters, their emotions, the surrounding sounds, scenery, and settings.

The way each character was introduced, kept you wanting to know more about each one.
Each character is believable and their struggles very relatable since all of us have experienced hurtful things in our past. Sadly, many of us have held on so tightly to our pain and anger that has often turned to bitterness that leads us to wrongly judge others.

I loved how Rachel gave us glimpses into the emotions and thoughts of the characters and the way the Lord was working in their lives to transform their thinking, thereby transforming their hearts and freeing them to forgive others and to love unconditionally!

NOTE: I received a complimentary copy of this book for reviewing from Rachel J. Good. I was not required to provide a positive review.

The Amish Widow’s Rescue by Rachel J. Wood is the third A Love & Promises Novel. Grace Fisher has been married for four years to Melvin and they have two children with another on the way. When Melvin passes away, Grace must rely on her jam business to support her family. She finds it hard to take care of the house, farm chores, make jam and keep an eye on the children. Grace appreciates her neighbor, Elijah Beiler helping with the farm chores, but she dislikes accepting help from others. Levi is three years old and instantly takes to Elijah. While Elijah is friendly, he tries to keep the Fisher family at arm’s length. After her marriage to Melvin, Grace is reluctant to trust another man with her heart.

Elijah Beiler cannot stand by while Grace struggles to care of her family. He volunteers to do the farm chores to help alleviate her load. Elijah is a bachelor and plans to stay that way. He knows that loving someone will only get your heart broken, but he admits that he is attracted to Grace and little Levi is hard to resist. As he spends more time with Grace and her family, he begins to wonder about being with them fulltime. But then someone Elijah never thought he would see again enters his life and brings back the hurt and pain. What does God have in store for Elijah and Grace?

The Amish Widow’s Rescue can be read alone if you have not read the previous novels in A Love & Promises series (but why not read all three of these charming books). The Amish Widow’s Rescue is a moving story. The story has depth and it is an emotional read. Grace Fisher loved her husband, but Melvin changed after they married. She did not like how Melvin treated her and the children. Grace does not have time to wonder about what if’s, because she needs to earn money to support herself and the children. Her jam making business has taken off and the orders keep pouring in especially after her niece, Miriam sets up a website. Grace has trouble accepting help from others, but that is exactly what she needs. Elijah steps in to help with the farm chores, but he wants to protect his heart from getting hurt. It is hard with the lovely Grace nearby and little Levi who enjoys spending time with Elijah. There are multiple storylines in the book (I do not want to say too much and spoil it for you). I enjoyed this well-written story with its appealing characters. I thought it was realistic, and it was interesting to learn more about the jam making business. The Amish Widow’s Rescue is an engaging story that you will not want to put down once you start reading. There are two phrases from The Amish Widow’s Rescue that I wanted to share. The first is “if this is God’s will, He’ll help you work everything out”. I find this to be very true. “You should never let pride keep you from speaking what’s in your heart” is the second phrase. How many of us are guilty of this one? If you are looking for a heartfelt and complex Amish novel, then pick up The Amish Widow’s Rescue.

Rachel Good spins another compelling Amish story in book three of the Love and Promises series, “The Amish Widow’s Rescue”. Having read book two, it was nice to see a brief appearance by Leah in this latest installment, which helps connect the stories and increases the overall cohesiveness. “The Amish Widow’s Rescue” made a deeper impression on me because of the main character Grace’s plight and her children. Grace must overcome the unexpected passing of her domineering husband while running her jam business and caring for her two little ones, a daunting task made all the more so by the fact that she is pregnant with her third child. As she moves forward, she learns the power of second chances.

One of this book’s many strengths lies in demonstrating that everyone wrestles with similar issues, even the Amish. Grace finds it very difficult to accept help, which is something that so many of us struggle with. We want to be capable and independent, but the truth of the matter is that God created us for community, and He does not expect or want us to face life alone. We need to not only accept Him into our hearts, but also be willing to allow others to help us when the need arises. And we should do the same for them, following Elijah Beiler’s example in this novel to help widows and orphans in their distress. Furthermore, another point that is made several times throughout the narrative is the importance of going to God first and foremost with our problems rather than trying to fix them ourselves or immediately taking them to someone else.

Miriam is my favorite character. She struggles with her own heartache and jealousy during her aunt Grace’s pregnancy, and although she steps back at times, ultimately she proves to be a selfless teenager. Her former period of rebellion proves advantageous to the present circumstances, illustrating how the Lord works all things together for good. Both Miriam and Elijah grapple with their own past trauma and its lingering effects, but healing comes in unpredictable ways. Seemingly impossible situations attest to the powerful working of God in hearts and minds, giving evidence of His endless grace and mercy and of how He continually rescues us. An intriguing plot combining past and present events and a laudable attention to detail make “The Amish Widow’s Rescue” a touching story that resonates with emotion.

The Amish Widow’s Rescue by Rachel J. Good is the third book in her Love and Promises series. Though part of a series, this can be read as a standalone novel, but I will definitely go back and read the rest of this series. Grace Fisher is newly widowed and expecting her third child. She has been responsible for everything on the farm for a few years, so she’s determined to raise her children and manage her jam making business without assistance. As is the Amish custom, for the first year after becoming a widow, the community and neighbours assist with chores, the family and money, but Grace wants to stand on her own two feet. Elijah Beiler is Grace’s reclusive neighbor. His past has left him distrustful of women, and he thinks the worst of Grace. As he spends time with her children helping to take care of her farm, his impression changes and he comes to care for her and the children. Can they get past their issues and mistrust to move forward together and form a new family?

I loved this story. The Amish Widow’s Rescue is completely engrossing, and once I started it, I read through it quickly. The characters are fully-developed and relatable. The issues that both Grace and Elijah had dealt with were problems that occur in all communities and faiths, and were realistic. It gave them both a human and relatable side that made this story even more emotional. It was sad to see how Elijah and Libby had been affected by their father’s treatment, yet kids are resilient and Elijah in particular is adorable. The themes of forgiveness and trust are huge in this story, especially when the people you need to forgive are no longer in your life. Leaving is another issue that is explored and huge when it comes to leaving children. Grace also learns that it is okay to accept help from others, that you don’t need to do everything by yourself, something many people have difficulty with. As I said above, I loved this story and recommend it to anyone who enjoys Amish Fiction or Christian Fiction. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book upon my request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

some trigger warnings for book, talk of PPD, talk adoption and the struggles for the BM

Grace Fisher is a woman trapped in an abusive marriage, then her husband suddenly dies leaving her with two small children and pregnant with a third. Elijah Beiler is a man haunted by his mother leaving him as a child, just leaving without a word, and taking something very precious with her.

Now Elijah and Grace need to learn to lean on each other. Grace needs to learn to except help and Elijah needs to learn to open his heart and trust.

over all I loved this book, the reason it only got four stars and almost 3.5 was it was just too nicely happily ever after wrapped up. well I feel sympathy for what Elijah's mother went through 16 years before and what she is going through now I don't think what she was as forgivable as everyone was making out to be. and it really lacked a hint of truth in the long run.

we lived with Elijah and his pain for all those pages and in the end it was almost like he wasn't allowed to be hurt he just had to be happy his mother was coming home and that's basically the end of the story no conversation between the two of them nothing. I wanted that raw emotion of mother and son actually having a conversation.

over all I loved Grace and Elijah's story and will probably pick this book up again. this is the third book in the series and I haven't read the other two but am willing to give them a try. book two obviously would be helpful to read for some themes in book three. book out May 28th

in all honesty I received a free copy of this book from forever publish and Grand central publish for an honest review all thoughts are my own.

The Amish Widow’s Rescue was a gripping story from the beginning with all that Grace Fisher and her young children had endured. Elijah Beiler’s life had not been easy but he was determined to assist Grace and her children as any Amish neighbor would. The children looked up to Elijah but his past kept him on alert. There are really two plots in this story with each character being three dimensional as they are brought to life. Themes of trust, forgiveness and finding peace by praying will give way too unexpected turn of events that restored lives and brought second chances. This book is the third one in Good’s Love and Promises series but it can be read as a standalone. I recommend reading The Amish Teacher’s Gift and The Amish Midwife’s Secret to appreciate all the characters in this series and how they found forgiveness and new beginnings.

Rachel J. Good has done it again! She’s such an amazing writer and able to pull the reader in emotionally and also spiritually. I love her writing style.

Grace is a young mother who has recently suffered the loss of her husband & father of her kids. She runs a business making jam and (apparently) is doing quite well with the money she makes. [I never thought jam making was such a lucrative business...I may need to change life paths]. Her niece is helping her with the kids and her jam business.

Without giving too much away, this story is a sweet tale about stubbornness and how GOD can break down those walls and let love in.

This was a cute story about a more independent Amish woman than we read in traditional Amish books. I could feel Grace's struggle of trying to do everything on her own even before her husband passes away suddenly.

I wish the author would have spent a little more time developing the marriage issues before Grace is left a widow. I think that would have gone a long way to help the reader understand why she was so resistant to accepting help. Instead it's repeated over and over again that she doesn't like others to help. But if we had seen more of her marriage, we as the reader might understand that better.

Rachel Good has quickly become a favorite author of mine. Her books exhibit a talent in bringing us "down to earth", dealing with challenges in the Amish community that each one of could experience in our Englisch world. This book is the third in the Love and Promise series, but can be thoroughly enjoyed as a standalone. I had read the first two but I have to admit that this novel was outstanding in its depth and emotion.

I found myself deeply involved with the characters from the first chapter. Each character was described so realistically that they were easy with whom to identify. I walked alongside them on their rocky road of life. They sure had their hills and valleys. The hurts each hit me very deeply. Made me really think ! What would I do in that situation?? It was obvious that God was working through their lives in a very special way.

The plot was filled with unexpected twists and turns, keeping the reader engaged from beginning to end. The issues that were addressed were ones that are rarely seen in the Amish genre, described with understanding and grace. The hearts of these dear ones had to change in order to forgive themselves and others as well as to allow them to love unconditionally, as the Lord wants us to.

Will I be reading more by this author?? YES!! I definitely will be waiting for Rachel's next creation!!

This is a fantastic read! Don't miss it!!

This book really held my attention. I loved it. A story that was of love, kindness and understanding. And of life's disappointments, trials and happinesses and of second chances. Sometimes all of us need a second chance. This book was a page-turner and it was hard to put down.

The characters were wonderful as they cared for each other's needs and helped each other to heal and start again.

Well worth the read. Loved it!!!

A feel good book of a neighbor helping another in their time of need. Have you ever had a neighbor go out of their way to help you? Have you ever offered help to a neighbor or friend? It doesn't cost anything to make a difference in someone's life.

A kind word, a hug, a smile can make all the difference. Grace had a family to care of as well as her jam business. Elijah stepped in to help. He rescued Grace in more ways than one.

I think it is important to remember to accept help when it is offered. We are not weak when we accept assistance. We pray asking for GOD's hand in our lives...for his assistance.

Elijah and Grace both needed to be rescued. And with GOD's help....they were.

I received this free to review from Celebrate Lit.

More from Rachel
The story idea for The Amish Widow’s Secret came to me after I’d just finished reading stories to my Amish friend’s children to give her a little break. She was expecting a new baby, and while we sat in their kitchen enjoying a snack, her husband came in.
The tenderness in his eyes as they talked made my eyes well with tears. It was obvious how much they loved each other, and they both supported each other. A perfect companionship. Not everyone gets to experience that bond, that caring.
It made me wonder what she’d do without him, and the seeds of a story was born. I decided to explore how a widow would cope with a pregnancy and two children alone. In the Amish community, of course, no one is ever left on their own. Everyone chips in to help.
So, what if the handsome and reclusive bachelor next door felt obligated to help, but wanted to avoid getting involved? Would he eventually soften his heart toward children and love?
As I wrote, I wondered if Elijah Beiler could get over a previous heartbreak. He needed to face his past before he moved forward, so I gave him that opportunity. A surprise visit and unwelcome news force Elijah to rethink everything he believes about parenting and love. And about the person who destroyed his world. He also needs to face the bitterness he’s been harboring.
Sometimes learning more about the circumstances or reasons of the person who has hurt us causes us to see the whole situation in a new light, making it easier to let go of the hurt. That’s what happens to Elijah.
I hope his journey will encourage readers to consider the places in their lives where they’ve been holding onto pain and reevaluate those experiences in the light of God’s forgiveness and love. To write this story, I needed to do that too.

The Amish Widow's Rescue by Rachel J. Good
(Love and Promises Book 3)
This is Grace Fisher and Elijah Beiler's story.
Graces children Levi and Libby.
Melvin Fisher and Grace Fisher.
She needed to hurry. The encounter with the doctor had made her late for the milking, and Melvin would soon be roaring for his supper. With Libby clinging to her, Grace fed and watered the animals. Usually she requested Levi’s help, but right now it would be faster to do it herself.
Then, hugging Libby close, she rushed to the first stall to milk Daisy. After settling onto the stool, she shifted her daughter in her lap. It wasn’t easy doing chores with a child in her arms, but she’d learned to do many things while holding her babies. If she’d soon be adding another little one to their family, the practice would come in handy.
Grace dreaded telling Melvin the news. Most Amish men were delighted about having children, but Melvin’s moods could be quite unpredictable. He might be noncommittal, or he might rage.
After wiping the cow’s udder with antiseptic, Grace began the rhythmic motions of squirting milk into the pail. The familiar ping of liquid hitting the metal calmed her nerves. Levi joined her as she prepared to milk the next cow, so Grace put Libby down and placed Levi on the stool in front of her. He was old enough to do chores now. Although it would take much longer, she guided his small hands as he cleaned the cow and struggled to get milk.
Elijah Beiler and his father.
Elijah Beiler had just helped his father back into bed when someone banged on the back door. He had no wish to speak to anyone. For years, he’d been a recluse, avoiding church on Sundays, despite being censured, and occasionally meeting the truck driver who collected his milk for the distributor. Most of the time, though, he could leave notes for the driver. If families in the community needed help with a barn raising, he’d attend but volunteer for one of the more solitary jobs.
He intended to ignore the light banging, but a shrill child’s voice shouted, “Help!”
The yell came again. Praying it wasn’t a prank, he rushed to the door. His neighbor’s little boy stood on the doorstep. “Something bad happened to Daed. Mamm said call the bu-wince.”
A child. Elijah’s gut tightened. He did his best to avoid children ever since his sister…
three-year-old Levi Fisher is pulling on Elijah heartstrings.
Elijah steps in as a neighbor to help her out with chores.
I highly recommend reading.

I don't think I have read many Amish stories that deal with widowhood. This story was a nice change of pace and captured the realism of being a widow. It also reminds us that the Amish face problems and tragedies just like the English do. Grace has been in a marriage that was unhappy and abusive. She never told anyone how difficult her marriage was and I wondered if she was ashamed or afraid to say anything. When her husband suddenly passes away, her world is turned upside down.

Grace has her hands full with two small children, a jam making business and running the farm. I was fascinated by all the work it takes to make jam, can it and sell it. It was not easy but Grace did her best. There was evidence that she didn't like anyone to help her and maybe because she had always done everything herself. Her inability to accept help was something she needed to work on. I thought right away it was her pride. If she asked for help, would it look like she was weak?

Living next door to Grace, he knew she was struggling but for some reason he had it in his head that Grace was ignoring her children and concentrating on her jam business more. The ugliness of judgment was alive in Elijah and he needed to change his way of thinking. Being abandoned as a child has caused him to judge mothers and be a bit standoffish around them. I loved how Elijah stepped up and helped Grace doing chores and watching her children. His heart began to soften towards Grace and it was nice to see him admit he had judged her wrongly.

Although the main story is about Grace and Elijah, I don't want to forget to mention a sweet little boy named Levi. He is such a loving child and hungry for attention from a father figure. The author does a great job of slowly showing how Levi and Elijah bonded. It was good for Elijah to open his heart and experience how much love a child can give. Their time together was special and I loved how easy Levi took to Elijah.

There is a lot more to the story but I don't want to spoil anything. I loved the surprises the author had in the story and how forgiveness was a big part of the emotional journey the characters took. Have you ever had a neighbor help you out without asking for anything in return? When is the last time you reached out to your neighbor and offered a helping hand? I loved the theme of loving your neighbor as yourself. Sometimes we forget everyone around us and only focus on our own problems. Let this story remind you to reach out and help someone out. Don't allow pride to consume you and always love and forgive unconditionally.

A sweet story of second chances

Grace's story is touching. Her marriage had not turned out as she had dreamed and she struggled with providing for her children. She was gentle, kind, and independent. The way she continued to honor her dead husband despite his cruel treatment of her and the children was admirable.

Elijah had his own struggles and was determined not to put himself in a situation that would result in heartbreak. His reasons for not trusting women were deeply ingrained in him. Yet he was kind and determined to help the lovely widow. I loved the way he was willing to spend so much time and work so hard to help her.

One of Elijah's major shortcomings was in judging Grace based on scanty evidence and his preconceived ideas based on his deep hurts. He never gave her a chance to explain herself. This was, of course, prompted by his own experiences and he viewed her through the cloudy lens of his hurtful memories.

My favorite part of the story is the budding relationship between Elijah and the fatherless, three-year-old, Levi. The manner in which their love and friendship grew was heartwarming. Levi was everything a precocious young boy should be, full of energy, zeal, and love. His instant love for Elijah and the way he wanted to spend as much time "pwaying" with him as possible made me smile.

As author Rachel J. Good tackles the issues of grief, abandonment, and forgiveness, she introduces a completely unexpected twist, which added some drama to the mix. Grace's niece, Miriam, who was introduced in rather a big way in The Amish Midwife's Secret, returns and has a major role in helping Miriam learn to manage the house and her business. It was so fun seeing the teenager show wisdom and shrewd business acumen.

Some unresolved hurts will most likely to pave the way for the next book in the Love and Promises series. Being as the main conflict was resolved satisfactorily, this should not deter you from reading. Instead, it will whet your appetite for more!

I dove into The Amish Widow's Rescue while out camping. Two pages in, distraction came, four pages in more distraction, and again they tried six pages in. What could possibly be pulling this book worm away from a good book? The distraction came in the form of darling little boys wanting to show me how high their kite could fly or one of their special beach treasures. However, there was no way that by page twelve anything could distract me. I was riveted. Author Rachel Good created an engaging story from the moment the book began and didn't loose me even as I closed the book, in fact Good left me wanting more. It is the third book in the series but I read it as a stand alone novel. It can totally be read on it's own but the story was so great I'll be snagging the others in the series to read as well.

I love that both Elijah and Grace have moments of confidence and knowing how they feel or what the "next right step" should be and in the next breath can feel lost, unsure, or question what to do next. I appreciate that they both have strong faith; but that as they experience the world they come to different conclusions, grow, and change. Watching Grace's rescue unfold tapped into my love of a good "love story," but also had moments where I was frustrated with characters, where life had brought them or to a place where I got hung up in the feelings of one character only to have the feelings of another change my mind.

Good did a fantastic job of weaving an interesting story, staying true to Amish culture and faith, but also incorporating the realities of living in a modern world. Sometimes these two worlds that actually do co-exist are hard to incorporate into one story or to do justice to each while laying them out alongside such an opposing reality. With such staggeringly different values, systems, and realities the "Englisch" and "Amish" worlds are so different and yet do co-exist, Good did a fantastic job of exploring how one impacts the other and diving into how each effects it's inhabitants. I hope you'll grab a copy of The Amish Widow's Rescue, it's a quick, engaging read that also challenged me in my faith and life.

This is a Christian Amish romance by author Rachel J. Good. It is Book 3 in her Love and Promises series but can easily be read as a stand alone. The author knows her way around an Amish story, and this one drew me in quickly.

I enjoy Ms. Good’s style of writing. The vivid descriptions of Amish Country and Pennsylvania Dutch language make me feel as though I am in Amish Country visiting with friends. Apparently that is where the author compiles information and story ideas.

Conversation is plentiful and flows without a hitch in her latest book. I love learning a new Amish word or two. In this book the Amish District was more lenient or progressive than in other Amish novels I have read. However, I have also read each district is unique.

The characters are well rounded and very relatable. They are easy to like and engage with early on in the book. Many times my heart hurt for a person or situation. The children are show stealers in this.

This is the story of Grace. She is a pregnant mother of two with a jam business and recently widowed. Immediately I wanted to hug her and help. It is also the tale of Elijah, her extremely handsome, helpful, generous neighbor who has built a wall around his heart. Oh, Elijah! My heart went out to him, too.

The author has been an exceptional job tugging on heartstrings and allowing readers to become emotionally involved in her story. It has some twist and turns, inspiration, life lessons on trusting a God, hope, and letting go of the past. The book deals with the death of a parent with children. They each deal with it differently and tears rolled as I read. They also were regular children so I chuckled in a few places, too.

I would recommend this to anyone that likes Amish fiction or would like to give it a try. The book moves along at a nice even pace without dragging. I sat down to read a little bit and that was it! I read it all.

A copy was provided by Celebrate Lit, but I was under no obligation to write a review. These are my own, honest thoughts. I rate this a 4 out of 5 stars.

I have loved every word in not only this book, The Amish Widow’s Rescue, but the entire series A Love &Promises by Reacel J Good. Each book has been a meaningful example of how one can excel even during the worst moments and most heartbreaking moments of your life if we remember to keep our focus of the one thing that is always steadfast our faith in God.
In this book, The Amish Widow’s Rescue, Grace Fisher has a determination that most don’t even dream of having but with the farm chores, her jam business and her two young children particularly her young son Levi who has now decided their young single neighbor is the best friend ever and is eager for his companionship, it’s getting harder and harder to keep up with everything, But Grace has a problem asking for Help, however now that she is recently widowed and pregnant on top of everything else how will she survive?
Elijah Beiler has a heart of gold and will do anything for his neighbor trouble is can he Keep his heart in check at the same time? He knows what heartbreak can do and he is determined to never go down that road again. Easier said than done he also know’s but he has to try.

Wow what can I say you can’t miss your opportunity to read this book, Rachel J Good has an amazing ability to bring her characters to life as if you know them or at the very least want to know them, you want to be at their table hearing this story unfold first hand. Your pulling for them, when they are going through something it’s as if you are as well. This book just as the others in the series has a special connection in that the characters are deeply concerned and wanting nothing more than to protect their children from further hurt and pain in their life. I love this series so very much and I thank Rachel for taking this journey and writing To series.

Highly engaging, instantly captivating, and undeniably gripping, Rachel J Good has written a masterpiece! She is quickly becoming one of my favorite Amish fiction authors. With realistic characters and palpable settings, this is a novel that's easy to keep the pages turning.

One thing that I absolutely loved about this story, was that the romance didn't feel forced or added out of necessity. With a friendship initially forged through hardship, Grace and Elijah's affections for one another blossomed despite their intents to prevent that from occurring. It's true that people helplessly carry their past relationships (romantic or not) with them through life. It was remarkable to see the healing that both Grace and Elijah experienced the more they were willing to let go of their pasts and look forward to their futures.

Elijah is one of my new favorite heroes. He initially found himself forced out of his comfort zone out of a feeling of duty, yet swiftly found his heart changing in ways he never would have expected. He wasn't perfect, but he was perfect for Grace. I admired that he was a man with his own hurdles to face and not merely the knight coming in for the rescue. I truly appreciated the realism.

This is the third book in the Love and Promises series but it could also easily be read as a stand-alone. Although there is an important connection between Grace's niece Meredith and her midwife friend Leah, it's a small piece of the storyline and it's summarized for the reader.

I highly, highly recommend this story to Amish fiction fans! I absolutely loved it and look forward to reading more from Rachel J Good in the future!
