Short review for the first 3 volumes!

So I watched the anime years ago, loved it to bits, and decided to now finally read the manga. I am glad I bought this one for my boyfriend a few years ago, that means I can just walk to the bookshelves and grab a new volume. Though I do need to buy the newer ones if I want to keep reading.

In these 3 volumes we meet with our cast. Misaka, Kuroko, Uihara, Saten-san, and of course the one boy who frustrates Misaka because she can't defeat him. :P

These first 3 volumes are about something called a Level Upper. What that is? Well not everyone can get their powers as high as Kuroko or Misaka. Even with training. And that frustrates quite a few people, including someone from our cast. I can imagine that it isn't easy that one can't get their powers up. So they use an illegal mp3 that will change things in their brain and "level them up". Sadly there are side-effects to it.
Judgement, and also Antiskill are trying hard to get this to stop. To stop people from using it.
It was very interesting, and also quite fun to read about it. Fun? Well because it is just so much fun see Kuroko and also Misaka use their powers!

Also loved the last part of the third volume (after the Level Upper arc) which explains to us how Uihara and Kuroko met and how they got in Judgement.

Plus, like with the anime, I love how they switch serious business stuff with some light-hearted things.

And of course I am also reading this manga for the whole Kuroko x Misaka stuff that was also abundant in the anime. Kuroko trying to get into Misaka's pants, glomping and tackling her all the time, and much more. Which results in Kuroko getting zapped, or bumped on the head. And yes, that happens frequently. :P Kuroko never gives up.

Out of the whole cast I am still the biggest fan of Kuroko and Misaka. Both have awesome powers, and their personalities are fun too. Plus I know from the anime that Misaka has a big backstory to tell, and I am really curious how it is handled in the manga.

I do feel sorry for Uihara, that Saten-san is constantly flipping her skirt in front of everyone. :P

All in all, a really fun series, and I will definitely read it. I can't wait for the Sisters arc to start!

It really wasn't that great a wrap up to the plot they had been pushing the last two books. I like the characters, I like the art and the dialog is good. But so far the side plots are better than the main on that they are showing. I’m hoping only being into book three that there is a much larger plot that we will start seeing by book 5. Totally better than Negima :)

Yaaay! No more monster, everybody's awake, and everything is OK! Although... now that this threat is gone, some other major evil is probably gonna show up. Eh, I look forward to it! ;-)

Para além de adorar Kazuma, este desenvolvimento cientifico apesar de ser imaginativo é tão solido que poderia ser real! ;) proximo please!!!

Continuing my trend of re-reading manga I own and rating it because work, a dreadful amount of appealing vidya, and just a general sense of laziness preventing me from willingly subjecting myself to actual art have made me shit the bed in terms of actually doing some real reading. I've read this volume before, once. The giant baby monster is kind of dumb, and the entire last half feels like it was meant to be the conclusion of a short, three-volume miniseries manga, rather than just a 100-page conclusion to a pretty short story arc. Also, there's no Touma. At least Accelerator shows up next volume.

Shows the origin of the Level Upper network, and then a fight to settle it. Honestly, I felt a little underwhelmed; I don't think the outcome ever felt like it was in doubt. It's the typical fight arc:
1. Fight,
2. Beat down first wave of villain,
3. Villain transforms or reveals new power,
4. Struggle,
5. Undergo mental transformation, or new idea, or other problem solving to defeat villain.
6. Victory
7. Possible foreshadowing of future villain.
Step 5 was weak in this volume.

The bank robbery side plot seemed better. The pool shenanigans seemed overly forced and irrelevant.

4 story chapters
a 2 part short
1 side story

Less fan service in this entire volume, so that was a plus for me. There was some grotesque horror stuff going on (which isn't my cup of tea to begin with).

I would've liked it more if there was so much side story... it was almost half the volume and these are large volumes.

This was fun, I find the relationships between the characters to be quite interesting, and they way the last volumes problems were wrapped up was pretty cool. I also liked how the story developed this volume. The graphics continue to be good, and I continue to enjoy the series. I am curious how it will continue.

4/5 ⭐️
The plot and continuation of the series was really good and the baby thing was hella creepy, but the side story wasn’t that entertaining to me.
