It’s autumn in Big Sky Country, and crash-landed aliens are falling in love!
Deltas were always the most expendable among the CWBOIs (Custom War Bionic/Organic Impersons), and Delta V was fifth of nothing. But since the crash that left this transgalactically prohibited private army of cyborg alien warriors marooned on Earth, Delta has found some small pleasures -- soft dogs, sweet donuts, seducing the neighboring rancher. Wait, what?
For the first time in her fifty years, Big Sky Country is feeling small and lonely to Montana rancher Lindy Minervudottir. With the five-year anniversary of her wife’s death looming, she’s not sure if the future matters. But then a futuristic fighter flies into her life.
Earth is a small, blue marble in the vastness of space, and two needy hearts are even smaller than quarks at that scale. But with a long-gone enemy closing in, if quantum entanglement and the irresistible force of love can’t bind them together, the world itself hangs in the balance.
On the outskirts of the Big Sky Intergalactic Dating Agency, the Cyborg Cowboys of Carbon County are rounding up earthly pleasures for their forever mates.
I grew up reading SFF, buying the biggest books I could with my chore money. While I loved the action, adventure, and exciting worlds, most of those stories were missing…kissing! Now I read and write paranormal romance and science fiction romance which I think mix the best of all worlds. I also write urban fantasy romance as Jessa Slade and sexy contemporary romance as Jenna Dales.
I spend most of my time at my computer thinking about stories, in my garden thinking about stories, or walking my dog thinking about stories. Hmm, I think there’s a theme… 🙂
It's Delta's turn to figure out what it means to be a cyborg killing machine without a mission who's been stranded on earth. And by "figure out what it means", I mean he's going to attempt to woo Lindy. Sure, the guy has zero experience with wooing and a distressingly low sense of self (being the lone Delta of a matrix that was all but wiped out when their ship crashed hasn't done the guy any favors), but he does have determination on his side.
As for Lindy, she considers herself older than Delta and his brothers (although they technically have a good 100 years on her) and she's heartworn after the death of her wife years early. She's definitely not looking to fall in love again, but Delta and his secrets draw her in and have her feeling things she didn't expect to feel.
Throw in a flying alien creature, the loner 3rd Halley brother, a group of galactic scavengers, a bout (or two) of sheet-tangling fun, and a little package that offers a whole lot of hope for these two and you have a lot going on under the Montana sky. *thumbs up*
Another unique, fascinating story by Elsa Jade. Don't expect "same-old, same-old;" Jade gives the cyborg/alien romance trope a new twist. I loved MACH ONE, the first Cyborg Cowboys of Carbon County book, in which Custom War Bionic/Organic Impersons (CWBOIS), crash land on Earth and hide out as Montana ranchers. I couldn't wait to read Delta's story. I loved it as much as the first one. DELTA V had a lot of action and twists and turns. Although the bisexual heroine had a F/F relationship in the past, Delta V is an M/F romance. Loved the opening scene of Delta riding in on the dragon (yurk). Hilarious. I hope Omega gets a book!
Lindy got a second chance for love, when she met Delta. Their relationship was hot from the start. I was on the edge of my seat threw this book. I didn't want to put it down.
Wow! “Delta V” book 2 in the Cyborg Cowboys of Carbon County & the other-worldly 'Intergalactic Dating Agency' is the first book I’ve ever read by this author, but it certainly won’t be the last! :) I thoroughly enjoyed the unique & entertaining storyline, the well-defined characters, great descriptions & unexpected turns. With a variety of genres like romance, suspense and fantasy, this must read will keep readers engaged & turning pages like I did! A friend shared this book with me, but I always express my own honest feelings without any outside influences! So yes I do recommend this to adult fans of fiction and I look forward to reading more from Ms. Jade!
Heartwarming Sci-Fi Love in Big Sky Country This is the first novella I've read by Ms Elsa Jade. I will ABSOLUTELY read more of her writings in the future. This love story of a Female “Earther”, Lindy, and the Alien Cyborg, Delta, was fantastic. I could feel the pain of each of them as Ms Jade guides the reader through their evolution to this very special love. The h, a proud, middle-aged, Montana Rancher, who’s Female Spouse has died from Cancer is a harden, lost soul. She has been with men in her past but doesn’t want to open herself up to love again. Delta, steps outside of his Cyborg-coding to create a scenario where Lindy will open up to him. Ms Jade does a wonderful job of creating a believable love in a short story environment. As our H/h explore the possibilities of love, some exciting plot twists keep the readers on the edge of their seats. Although you can read this story as a standalone, reading the first novella in this Trilogy will improve the enjoyment of this read. I was given a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.
When you're a Delta - the expendable, deployed-by-the-dozens cyborg soldier, you follow orders. That's your mission. Only his unit has crashed on Earth, his fellow soldiers have been gone for over a century, and there is NO mission left. Until his surviving commander finds a new one, in the person of an Earth female. Delta V models his commander, and sets out in search of the Earth female who will become his mission. And who does he find? Lindy Minervudottir, 50-ish, bisexual widow of a beloved wife, rancher born-and-bred, a survivor if ever there was one. What looks like an odd reverse May-December romance turns out to be a meeting of the minds as well as a bonding of souls, as Lindy puts her would-be lover/protector through some tough paces, and Delta V proves the staying power of cyborgs beyond all doubt. I loved the nuances of emotion and the complexity of characters in this tale of true love by Elsa Jade.
This is an unusual yet interesting cyborgs alien romance and an enjoyable read. It has a well-paced story-line & plot filled with unexpected occurrences. The characters are unique with complex personalities & some deviousness combined with determination to get their goals. There is: a lonely woman, cyborgs alien warriors, space ships, twists & turns, intrigue, suspense, enemies, dangers, adventure, action, secrets, memories, grief, confrontations, anger, complications, considerations, strategies, confusion, seduction, imprinting, verbal banter, attractions, conspires, blackmail attempts, decoy attempts, determination, alien conflict, guns blazing, choices, acceptance, happiness & a satisfying ending.
Montana rancher Lindy Minervudottir does not think she will find love again. so what should happen but that she meets Delta V. First she thinks he is too young. I loved that Lindy was more mature (in her 50's). Turns out Delta V is an alien who needs Lindy and is not as young as he looks. He crash landed on Earth 150 years ago and now he is in danger of being recaptured. Lindy is his hope and salvation. I wish I has read the first book as I felt I was missing some of the world building and backstory. Even so this works as a standalone. I found this because it received a SFR Galaxy award.
Lindy is a very surprised witness to Delta training the Yurk in the middle of the night. Linda's good natured reaction to seeing one of her neighbors riding a "dragon" convinces Delta that Lindy is someone he needs to get to know better. Unfortunately, his plans may be ruined by unwanted visitors. This series is getting better and better. There's plenty of danger, action and romance in this story. I enjoyed reading this book very much.
Good offshoot of original Intergalactic Dating Agency series with two lonely individuals finding that second chances are possible and happiness can be found in many forms.
If you're looking for a warm, and exciting, read, you've found it. Sexy cyborgs, almost a dragon, and a woman who has lived well, suffered loss, and is now thinking she's heading not only over but down the hill. But love has other plans!
I'm a little short on time. I loved it! Vic just seems to keep at it no matter the threat or dead end pops up. She has a lot of hope & love to try to break the code to free them & make Cosmo see that he has more going for him than just the function he was programed for. It's great.
Loved all the action in this book 📚, Delta and Lundy are great together. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book as a FREE ARC copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.
