William Stanmeyer gives a new perspective on the end times. His novel is not based on a futurist interpretation like Hal Lindsey’s (The Late Great Planet Earth) or Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins (Left Behind series), where those authors wrote novels around a predicted future “rapture,” “tribulation,” and “1000-year millennial kingdom.” Stanmeyer also did not base his novel on the belief that most of the predictions in Revelation had already occurred during the early formation of the church, as did Hank Hanegraaff and Sigmund Brouwer in “The Last Disciple” series.
Stanmeyer instead draws upon reported apparitions of the Virgin Mary and Jesus cautioning people that God is soon to illuminate everyone’s mind with a clear understanding of how God views them “the warning”, followed by a very visible “sign” all can see, photograph, televise (but cannot touch) to lend affirmation that the warning came from God.
I have heard of these apparitions. As far as I know, Stanmeyer is the first author to put all these predictions into a novel. His novel tells of The Antichrist and a severe chastisement: a meteor that will come close to the earth. The concepts are based on apparitions instead of an interpretation of Revelation. They also differ in what the future events entail.
If you have heard of any of the apparitions: Garabandal, Akiba, Medjugorje, and seers like, John Leary and Joanne Kriva, you will be interested in this novel because it ties everything together and brings the predictions home by working them into the novel’s story line.
The president of the United States features in this novel, as well as leaders other nations, the pope, and The European Confederation, led by The Chairman who is in the process of incorporating the United States and all other nations under his leadership. The sign is quickly follows the warning. The chastisement lasts three days. Then comes a renewed Earth in an era of peace.
The main characters, Michael Kanek, his brother Jerry, Pat Green, Marilee Van Nielsen, John DeSanto, and the evil Chairman and his assistant Delores Montalvo all bring the story to life as the main characters experienced the warning, the sign, and the chastisement. Most of the characters belong to the “Honest Debate Society,” which the author uses to introduce and explain what these apparitions warned about.
This novel is a new interpretation of what the future might hold for us. It draws upon apparitions that many people recognize and believe. I found the novel well written, interesting and challenging. I recommend it to everyone interested in end times predictions.
