Ethan Stewart likes to get what he wants. Intelligent, attractive, and successful, he doesn't care about straddling the line between refined physician and well-educated sailor. Coming from a background filled with violence and poverty, he still manages to work his way from medical school to eventually owning his own medical practice. As far as Ethan is concerned, he has everything he’s ever asked for.
But when Alexandra Miller comes into the picture, the attraction is instant. Uncontrolled. She is everything Ethan loves in a woman, even the things she tries so hard to hide. She's a woman whose background includes having the President of the United States in her social circle, but he doesn't plan to be intimidated. What Ethan wants, Ethan gets. And, after a passionate, unexpected night in her office, now that he's tasted her, he realizes he can never go back to not having her as part of his life.
Alexandra (Allie) works with Ethan in his medical practice. Though secretly attracted to one another they don't act on it until Allie's grandmother Evelyn intervenes. Evelyn sees auras and can tell when two people are rooted (to be together), but to help things along she concocts her Red Velvet Punch. This punch frees people to act on unknown (to them) and secret desires. Like a moth to a flame, Ethan and Allie act on it -- and often!
Allie is in a loveless (political) relationship strictly because that is what is expected of her ... and Ethan is her side piece (a different spin) in the story. Alexandra keeps promising to leave her boyfriend (Rick), but she is afraid (she's pushing 30 years old) of the timing, and most of all disappointing her parents -- particularly her father.
The punch is the catalyst for a change in her life that is desperately needed. The people closest to Allie encourage her to do what makes her happy, but she clings to the life her father and Rick have mapped out for her. A life she was content to embrace before she slept with Ethan and got to really know him.
Plain and simple -- Allie doesn't have a backbone. She says she wants a different life (than her mother) for herself, but she is paralyzed with the fear of disappointing her father, Rick, Ethan -- but never herself. She never makes the selfish decision to live her life, the way she wants. She is given advice (which she doesn't take) and continues over and over again to seek approval and guidance from others.
The ending was a bit of a leap and Rick seemed to have faded away into the background. Given his personality and the overall circumstances that were life-altering, this seemed a bit unbelievable. After everything that happened, and after it was all said and done -- what I really wanted was for Allie to choose herself.
Book 1 - Fated (Ethan & Alexandra) Book 2 - Angels & Assassins (Tayler & Gage) Book 3 - The Woman He Wanted (Kellen & Bailey)
I started this book but I could not finish it at all. I borrowed it on Kindle Unlimited and returned it after reading 10% of the story. It just was not my cup of tea!
I have read the latest book by Angels & Assassins and really enjoyed it!
Fated primarily is about two people being denied love for all the wrong reasons. Ethan and Alexandria work together. And they've been checking each other out for over a year. But nothing never really came of it because you see Alex is engaged to someone else. And Ethan has some hangups about relationships. Enter stage left Alexandria's grandmother. She's a wise old woman as most all women are. She's able to look at to people and tell whether or not they are rooted to one another. She takes one look at Alexandria and Ethan and immediately knows that they are rooted to one another. She give them the Kool-Aid if you will and they drink it. And it's on like popcorn. Actually it's a little bit more involved but you get my drift. For minute there I wanted to knock some sense into Alexandria but she came around. PS.... Sometimes our parents forget they were young and in love once.
Words can't explain how much I enjoyed this book, but I'm going to try in this review, lol. In this story you meet Alexandria(Alle), a prim ,and proper, follow the rules type of woman, who has never really experienced life, and is stuck in a loveless, lifeless relationship with Roderick(Rick). You also meet her boss, Dr. Ethan(E). Though under wraps, the 2 have been fantasizing about each other since the day they met, but never acted on it. That is until her grandmother comes by, and gives them this special punch that ignites the fire that's already there, and starts the magic between them. This book is steamy, and the love story between them is sure to make you believe in love at first sight. I'm positive y'all won't be disappointed, I definitely wasn't. Another great read from K. Alex Walker.
Wow!! At first I couldn't really get into this book but after awhile it became very interesting. Especially after the circumstances of Alle having a boyfriend. Alle did get on my nerves a time or two but I guess it happen the way it should. To me Ethan wasn't really a typical alpha male. I guess cause of the situation. Now I'm curious about her parents. Will the split up or will they stay together since the truth has came out?? Well I can't wait for Kellan story next. I hope I don't have to wait to long.
This installment of the Alpha Male series was a little different in that it had a sweet little grandma who gave Alle and Ethan a bit of a nudge toward each other with her red velvet punch. It was like dumping a gallon of gasoline on a barbecue grill! I laughed(her sister Gia was hilarious!!) and other parts almost had me in tears. Excellent story!!!
Verklempt is what I am. This testimony has me searching for words. It’s not just a story or tale or novel though it is novel, a unique and powerful rendering. Ms. Walker must have experienced something like this and/or conjured up the sumptuous, visceral explanation for this fated phenomenon. This is my third read over two years and can’t believe I’m just now writing a review. I was sure I had shared my awe before now.
K. Alex Walker, you did it again! This book was great! From the storyline to the characters. Everything about this book was on point. Some things kept you wondering and other things were just in your face. What a wonderful story. I didn't want it to end. Congrats to you, Ms. Walker on a job well done.
Elegantly written love story by K. Alex Walker. Alexandria was fortunate to have grandmother Evelyn in her corner. Roderick was too arrogant for his own good. Ethan was what the doctor ordered. The passionate storyline & content also helped make Fated an enjoyable read.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I especially loved the whole seer backstory that goes with it and how people can be fated for each other like Alexandra and Ethan. Their passion is like all over this book. It's basically there from the beginning and pulls you in. But man, Alexandra really needs so backbone. She was really annoying with how she let her father and her so called boyfriend, Roderick, control her and dictate everything in her life. She's 28 years old, for the love of God. It was really pathetic. So because she has an issue asserting herself, she causes all this drama with her relationship with Ethan, who btw, is absolutely a perfect man lol A pediatric doctor too? He's a saint. More so for putting up with Alle's lack of backbone. Despite that, I really did enjoy the book and thought it was a good read. You will root for Alle and Ethan, trust me. I'm ready for the story of Tayler and Gage in this series!
I'm not a fan of cheating. I see no excuse for it. But since this is fiction, I'll let it pass. I come from a military family (both parents served) so I understory pressure to keep up appearances. However, my parents would want my sis and I to be happy and marry for love. Just as my parents did. Alle was a grown woman who could barely handle pressures from her parents. "F THAT"!!! I don't care what the situation is, cheating is not the answer. No justification for it.
Great concept but the end is what ruined it for me. The confrontation scene at the wedding was like a soap opera…..like those super low budget ones your grandma used to watch.
And then there was no follow up to what happened to the evil ass dad or weirdo fiancé.
To summarize. Ethan and Alle have been co-workers for several years and both have had the hots for each other since their very first meeting. However neither of them have made a move on each other because Alle has a boyfriend and they both are too nervous to act on their attraction. Enter the heroine's grandmother...and her love punch (like literally its punch...that gets you to initiate the lovin') haha
Overall I actually enjoyed this story quite a lot. I liked that Ethan was alpha without being overbearing or misogynistic. Alle's sister, Gia, was a hoot...and I really enjoyed the sibling's relationship and interactions in the book. The family dynamics with both the H and h were complicated...but it only added to the story in my opinion. And did I mention there is some H.O.T love scenes...like eyebrow singeing...but in a good way! They weren't super out of place or such an overwhelming amount that you wanted to skip half the book.
The ONLY reason this book doesn't have a 5 star rating is because I just could not get with Alle. I tried to like her...I really did...but I just couldn't. I mean I understand that she had always been the good girl, and that she was borderline stepford wife/daughter. But she seriously had no backbone...like not even a piece of a backbone. Throughout the story she kept going on and on about how she wanted to be her own woman...how she wanted to be independent...etc. But never stood up for herself...not even in the end of the book. Ethan had to do everything...and it just made the relationship feel a bit one-sided in my opinion. She seemed perfectly content to let him be the "side piece" just to help maintain the career of her boyfriend (who literally had no love or respect for her) and her father (who even went so far, as to threaten to reveal nude pictures of HIS OWN DAUGHTER if she didn't do what he wanted).
Every time she would justify their behavior or ask Ethan to give her more time I just felt like yelling, "girl are you serious right now?!"
But despite Alle being absolutely infuriating...I DID really like this book. I would definitely give it a solid recommendation.
K. Alex Walker's Fated is a captivating romance novel that delves into themes of love, family, and societal expectations. The story follows Ethan, a successful doctor, and Alexandra, a woman trapped in a loveless engagement.
Their paths intertwine, and sparks ignite. The chemistry between them is undeniable, and their connection is both passionate and tender. The author skillfully balances the romantic elements with intriguing family dynamics and societal pressures.
One of the strengths of the novel is the character development. Alexandra, in particular, undergoes a significant transformation as she breaks free from the constraints of her family's expectations and embraces her own desires. Ethan, with his unwavering support and unwavering love, is the perfect counterbalance to her.
While the plot may be somewhat predictable at times, the author's engaging writing style and well-developed characters keep the reader invested. The supporting characters, such as Alexandra's grandmother and her sister Gia, add humor and depth to the story.
Overall, Fated is a delightful and heartwarming romance that will leave you smiling. It's a perfect read for anyone who enjoys a good love story with a touch of drama and a happy ending.
I loved grandma Evelyn. She sounded like a spit fire in her day, what grandma in this day allows her grands to see a picture o her topless kissing their grandfather. Heck she's a spitfire now, talking about the hotness of these young people, "the most beautiful lips I've ever seen on a man." I'm curious as to what happen with her doing the red velvet punch for her son? I'm thinking the son's story needs to be told, what father in his right mind would threaten to, let alone, release sexual photos of his daughter on the internet to comply with what he wanted her to do? Although I could sympathize with Alle, i think she played the stepford girlfriend/wife in training two years too long. Gia's character was more to my liking. She must have gotten her non confirmatory from her grandma, Lord knows she didn't get it from her mama.
I am looking forward to reading Kellen and Reagan's story. I'm anticipating Tayler's story to be awesome. Why is it that she and Ethan look so much alike with the same eye coloring could it be that got it from their daddy? Hmmm.
Growing up in the Caribbean it's very common to hear "Jus drink little bush tea" for any ailment one has. However, I have never heard of Red Velvet Punch...it sounds delicious by the way and I'd be willing to try some :)
Loved how the story dealt with the aspect of truly being your own person versus being the person that your parents and society wants you to be. I am glad that both Alle and Ethan came to their senses in the end. I was tempted to skip ahead to see if she would go through with the wedding after the threat from her dad.
I am truly delighted with how the story played out and loved the differing points of view which complemented each other.I laughed, I screamed, I cried. It was truly beautiful and equally deserving of 5 stars and more.
In Fated: An Alpha Male Romance, author K. Alex Walker, introduces us to Grandma Evelyn a well-meaning grandmother to Alexandra and Gianna (Gia, for short). As this story begins Grandma Evelyn lets us in of her plan to assist her granddaughter Alexandra and Dr. Ethan Stewart along in their attraction to each other with her family secret "Red Drink" or has Gia called it "Hunch Punch." Now what happens next between Alle and Ethan makes me wish Ms. Evelyn would bottle it up and sell it. I would buy a couple of cases. With any story there is always obstacles and in this story it is Alle's live-in controlling boyfriend Roderick, her father James and Alle herself who essentially come between Alle and Ethan. Even though Alle cannot stay way from Ethan as he has become her addiction of choice.
Another good read from K. Alex Walker, so ready for Kellen's story!
I chose this rating because this is a beautiful romantic love story. I absolutely loved, Loved loved Grandma Evelyn, as a descendent of West Indian parents I relate 100% to drinking the Bush tea lol. At first, I thought Alexandra was going to stand up to her parents, when she didn't I was so upset with her I couldn't fathom why she would stay in a second rate relationship. Ethan, I just thought he was so hot, I had to fan myself a couple of times reading their fantastic love making scenes,. This book had everything in it and was a fantastic read. I highly recommend it, I nearly cried on more than one occasion!!
Alexandra (Alle) and Ethan are attracted to each other, but neither make a move to act on their attraction until Alexandra's grandmother gets involved. After that things progress relatively fast between Alle and Ethan yet their relationship is kept hidden from certain people like Alexandra's parents and oh yeah her boyfriend. Secrets have a way of coming out to the open and then drama ensues and that's exactly what happens. Hearts and feelings are betrayed, secrets from the past brought forth, and of course some true love happening. I would definitely recommend this book. >_<
I may be alone in giving this book 1 star, but I think it is because I am biased. I can't seem to get into books where there is cheating involved. Fated is no exception. I mean really, if you don't want to be with the person you are with then call it quits and be with the one you want. I tried to stick with the book in hopes it was going to quickly turn around, but after reading over 100 pages and the cheating continued I had to put the book down. What a shame.
This is the second time I read this book!! I downloaded it, thinking it was a new release, as soon I seen Evelyn's meddlings, ... Ethan and Alle's journey came back fresh in my mind. That didn't stop me from reading AGAIN though! As usual, K .Alex didn't disappoint, wonderful, strong characters and storyline. Looking forward her next releases!!
This was really good, it was borderline a paranormal read at times. I enjoyed following along with Gage and Tayler, the relationship between the two was interesting to follow. I was wanting more from the culprit though, seems like we didn't get much from him so it was kind of hard to follow why he was doing what he was doing. Overall I'd read another by this author.
Alexandria was involved with someone else but according to her grandmother he was not her true love. Dr Ethan Stewart was. Alexandria has spent all her life trying to please her parents but Ethan makes her think about what she wants.
Good read. I like the books that there is always someone that knows what's good for you even if you don't. No not meddling but a person that can help you find your way when your not sure where to go.
K. Alex Walker always bring her A-game! I love that Supernatural touch of Grandma Evelyn. Ethan and Alexandra's story is the start of The kismet series and it is fire hot!!! 🔥🔥🔥
What a book…a must read. Arranged marriages, no love match and the husbands (MAYBE the wives too…NOT)can have secret liaisons/affairs. All this came out at Alexandra’s supposed wedding to Roderick when Ethan showed up to save the day.
3.5* WOW!!!! I really enjoyed Fated. Im not a fan of cheating and love triangles, but I couldn't put this book down. I thinking of picking up some other books by this author.
