⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱*Definitely not for me/might contain spoilers*⋰⋱⋰⋱⋰⋱

Nolan has loved Hugo Landers since high school, he worked along side him as his project manager for the Landers NGO, hiding how he felt. However, it's time to let him go. Especially now that there's a new man in his life. When he gives his resignation, Hugo feels betrayed. Consider both of them shocked when they met up again through an elite dating app. Hugo is looking for a husband to help take care of the baby who is soon coming and Nolan wants a husband, the white picket fence and 2.5 kids. Nolan knows there's a will, but he doesn't know what the will is about, and Hugo is keeping it a secret. Will their... love (?) // relationship survive?
I tumbled onto the living room couch, clumsily pulling my cell out of my pocket to dial Nolan again. Every call had gone to voicemail, as if his phone was off or he’d simply blocked me. Little bastard. Well, I could block him as well. I stabbed the button, taking great satisfaction in officially ignoring him. If he didn’t want to answer my calls, I wouldn’t answer his. He would have to come to me.
“Yeah, that’s the way to tell him,” Nora said sarcastically, standing in the room with her arms crossed.

I didn't feel any connection between any of the characters; Hugo, Vincent and Nora are supposed to be brothers and sisters. I felt nothing. They were more acting like somewhat friends who knew each other. Jackson and May, Nolan's parents seemed alright, but I didn't even feel the connection or love between them either. I guess the author tried to make up some sexual attraction/frustration between Vincent and Terrance, for me there was no success. I didn't care for neither character. For any, actually. I specifically didn't like how Terrance got away with what he did and everything was just alright. I mostly felt indifferent to all the characters but he was the one I disliked the most.
“I didn’t even know you were gay.”
“You never asked,” he said, and disappeared out the back door into the night.

Now don't get me started on the main couple: Nolan and Hugo had no connection at all. I felt no spark, no love, not attraction, no nothing. Nolan is supposed to have been in love with Hugo for over three years, and yet not once did I feel his love. Hell, all I felt was that he was trying to change the man he supposedly love. There was no build up, it was predictable and it felt like everything was kept on the surface, you didn't get any deeper into the characters. You barely got to know any of them. Not even the main characters. You don't even get to know their likes and dislikes. For me, this was a waste of time. I considered multiple time to quit it but I hate quitting and decided to just finish it. It was barely a story here to tell, to be honest. It's probably cruel of me to say, but it's how I feel. It also made it quite predictable as to who the next book would be about. Again, not feeling anything about them either.
“You didn’t get a formal proposal.” He stopped, expression now wry. “I. . .choose my timing wisely, while you were still muddled with sex.”
“I mean, what better time is there?”

This book had a flavor of "didn't know what he had until he lost it" which is my favorite trope in MM Romance, and while the trope was concluded fairly early in the narrative I was ultimately satisfied. The romance between Nolan (one of my favorite names, by the way) and Hugo (not one of my favorite names, by the way) actually approached an emotional maturity in their relationship that we rarely see in MM. This isn't a drama-filled and angst-ridden story relying on one misconception after another and finishing with a showdown at high noon. Instead we're given fairly grounded but appropriately flawed characters trying to make the best of their situations and achieve as many of their relationship goals as they reasonably can. The plot device of "matchmaking service happened to match a boss and his employee, both of whom live in NYC but were born in the same small town" was an unbelievable coincidence, but thankfully that didn't jerk me out of the story at all. I hope that the author continues this series, I'm a fan!

This is a 3-4 star book but I'm boosting it all the way up to 5 stars because both main characters were unabashedly gay, and given that having actual gay characters in male/male romance (what a concept!) is so, ridiculously rare these days, I'm giving all my love to the gayness whenever I find it.

I tried. I really did. This one just didn't click with me. It felt emotionally detached from the start and I didn't feel like it ever got to a point where I actually wanted the MC's to have a HEA.

Nolan has worked as Hugo's assistant for a few years and has secretly been in love with him the entire time. He decides he needs a change in his life and when his dad gets sick he makes up his mind to leave NY and go back home and take care of his parents.

Hugo is from the same small town and is set to lose his inheritance if he's not married with a baby in the next few months. He's got the baby part taken care of, he just needs the man.

It would seem like this would be the part where he sweet talks Nolan, who has already admitted his love for Hugo, into more, but he resists during the entire book, only showing a modicum of emotion at all, which didn't work for me. Especially when Nolan is the kind of guy who needs it.

There were too many secrets and backhand gestures in this to really feel like there was a future for either party.

It was worth the read, but I'm excited to see the next body of work from Peter Styles.

Okay

This was an okay story and I try hard not talk about edits, but this story was in need of so!e serious edits. The edits took away from the story making it hard to read in some places. The story felt a bit forced and then unfinished in some places. It felt lacking!

***** The best things about books by Peter Styles and J.P. Oliver...their characters, their stories, and the humor! Just when you've completely immersed yourself in a plot that is so plausible you're amazed no other author has written it before, you fall in love with two guys who are both strong willed and are having a hard time admitting they've made a mistake, how to say 'I love you' or how to apologize. Then you have the humor that sneaks in at unexpected times! 'Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't!' I laughed out loud! Such fun!

Please treat yourself to this romantic, HEA from a team of writers that never disappoint. You'll be so glad you did!

Nolan loves Hugo and has for the three years he has worked for him. Hugo relies totally on Nolan at work, but hasn't figured anything out yet between the two of them. Giving up, Nolan makes contact with an online man who fits all he has been looking for. Hugo needs and heir and a husband to keep his families inheritance. Meeting a man online who agrees to marry him despite the surrogate baby on the way, he feels secure in his future. Both men are from the same town and they both head back to their homes. coincidences make the lives of these two men even more complicated. The Character's are strong, but I just couldn't get into either one of them that much. Hugo was a jerk most of the time and Nolan let his love makes him weak when dealing with Hugo. There is an HEA for them at the end and I am sure others will like these two and their stories. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC book.

Nolan quits his job to go home to his parents and also meet an online suitor. He's had a crush on his boss Hugo for a long time but knows he has to let go and move on if he's going to get the family he wants. So he quits on Higo and heads home.

Hugo needs a heir, but also to be married. So he's been talking to a mystery man online for months, met through an elite match making agency. He's late meeting him though since his long time employee quit on him, but now he's on his way to marry a man, get his hair and meet the requirements to his grandfather's wi.

What happens when Nolan and Hugo discover they are each other's online mystery men? And what happens when other people are after the inheritance?

Oh, this was a great read. The two men develop a connection and it grows into something more, something strong. The story was entertaining and kept my interest entirely.

feelings matter - whether they are between colleagues or lovers, they must be respected

an irregular will urges Hugo to wed and have an heir

too bad he did not share the date deadline with the man at his side.

currently he is his assistant. he wants him to be his partner and co parent

can they both compromise enough to accept emotional and communication styles?

can they do it in times to save the farm?

a wild ride!

He now has a choice to make his inheritance or the one he loves. It was just suppose to be for show but love has happened. Now things need to be sorted for them to move forward. What will happen? Will love bloom? See if it can

This book has a lot of drama and romance. The characters were well thought out and seemed to have a great chemistry. They have a lot of problems to sort out. In the end they have a HEA.

I'm getting so tired of love interests who are jerks. I don't know when this became a thing, but I don't find it enjoyable to read. Hugo is controlling, manipulative, keeps secrets, and can't bend his ego enough to even act like a real human being. No reason is given for Nolan to be in love with him. We're just presented with the fact that he's loved him for years and that's that. That's some pretty flimsy storytelling there. It also irked me how everyone sides against Nolan when he finally grows a pair and stands up for himself. Really? What the hell kind of Stepford Wives set up is this story? Ugh, I'm just really sorry I read this book.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is a romance between Nolan and Hugo. Nolan worked for Hugo as an assistant for years and decided to quit to move back home to care for his parents in their retirement. Nolan was also in love with Hugo, but knew his feelings were not returned. Nolan had applied to a matchmaking agency to find a husband. Nolan knew his match would help him move on from Hugo and find happiness. Hugo was surprised when Nolan quit and didn't know how Nolan felt about him. Hugo had to return to his hometown to his family's farm to deal with conditions to his grandfather's will. The will stated Hugo needed to have an heir so Hugo was using a surrogate to have a baby. Hugo also learned he needed to be married, so he turned to a matchmaking agency to find a husband. Unknown to both Nolan and Hugo, they were matched to each other. I really enjoyed this book. It had a lot of emotions and it dealt with how they showed love to each other and what they expected. I think Hugo really loved Nolan, he just didn't know how to show it. I think Nolan had an image of a perfect husband and didn't realize how it really be. I think they were perfect for each other and they needed to accept their faults and realize nobody is perfect. Another good one from Peter.

I'm going with 3 stars.
I found it very hard to like Nolan. Every time there was a problem or he got mad, he ran away. He acted very childish all the time and blamed Hugo for everything. Hugo should have told him about the will but with the way Nolan acted in the past, I would have kept it from him too.
I also didn't buy their feelings for each other. We were told Nolan has been in love with Hugo for years but I didn't feel it. It was a slow burn towards love for Hugo but with everyone pressuring him to say 'I love you', when it happened it felt forced. I wished the had more time together to bond, instead of fighting.
I feel like I'm being harsh with this review but a pet peeve of mine is people who don't communicate.
I do love the authors writing style and I will be reading more by this pair. I hope we get a book about Vincent.

This is a bloody awesome book, it is so enjoyable that I couldn't get enough of it. Nolan and Hugo's story is a very exciting journey that definitely has quite a gew twists and turns in it. I love this author very much he is one of my favorites, he has excellent storylines and a great flow to his writing.
I always get excited reading one of his books, to the point where I debate sleep sometimes. I know its crazy but you can't say you haven't been there before.
Anyways back to the book I enjoyed meeting all the characters in this book aswell I feel we will be seeing them again soon with a Vincent story, I could be wrong but who knows, only the author does.
This is a must get asap book, you won't want to put it down, it is that great.

Hugo is the entitled heir to a fortune and must marry and produce an heir to inherit. Nolan has worked for Hugo and is secretly in love with him. They date, argue, and work together. I didn’t love this for a bunch of reasons: (1) Hugo called the shots 95% of the time and I didn’t enjoy the power imbalance or his attitude - Nolan was basically expected to add household and parenting duties to his job description; (2) the authors told me they were in love but didn’t show me through the characters’ actions or feelings; (3) the side romance between two minor characters was tangential and distracting; (4) the tone was overly ‘cosy’, the emotions and setup didn’t feel real; and (5) the narration was solid but mistakes hadn’t been edited out - it was jarring when a sentence or phrase was repeated.

4.5 stars! Nolan and Hugo have a lot of history. Most of it working together. I liked that Nolan was so verbal about what he wanted in a relationship. He was also willing to compromise and see his own shortcomings. He also frustrated me by running away instead of facing problems. Hugo came across as rude, high handed, arrogant and demanding. When things didn't smoothly happen he either became highly dictatorial or shutdown. Both of these guys had a lot of changing to do. Learning to listen and compromise was their biggest problem. When Hugo finally openly declares his feelings I cheered. I only wish the author would've included a bit of them with their baby.

Audiobook: The narrator has clear diction but I laughed at his frequent mispronunciation. It's obvious that the editing team for this audiobook didn't do their job.

I’m really happy that I found this author, I have 4 absolute favourite m/m authors and now I have found my 5th in Peter Styles, to me he is an up and coming author who is going to have plenty of hits with his stories. This is the story of Hugo and Nolan, Hugo is set to get an inheritance but he must marry and have a baby or he will lose it all. Nolan has been Hugo’s assistant for years and he’s in love with him but thinking that it’s going to go nowhere Nolan quits and goes back home to help his sick father. Both men have a few surprises in store for them both but I’m not going to tell you, you will just have to get this book to find out what it is. A fantastic story a 5 plus ⭐️ read and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Uhm...
Well, the idea was not necessarily anything new, but no is expecting anyone to reinvent the wheel...
I listened to this, rather than read it which might have been a mistake. The narrator keeps repeating random phrases twice - no idea whether this is to blame on the author or the narrator.
The story itself was... Ordinary? Ordinary and not well executed. I zoned out occasionally and for the love of it, I can't say I liked any of the characters. There was just... Nothing. They were so plain and there was literally nothing which made them unique or stand out from each other.

One and a half star. More isn't possible. It was just... Flat.
DNF. Tried very hard, but it just wouldn't work.

Hometown boy

I am always in awe when both of these authors write a book together. Love the story line of how they came to be even when someone else has it out for them. I hope that Vincent gets a book and Nora too.

Nolan was tired of working for a boss that didn’t see that he loved him and didn’t see what he had. Intent on moving on and finding his match online to move back home and start a life with someone new. Hugo was looking for a quick way to fix the will his grandfather left with certain stipulations.

Hugo needs to get married and have a child in order to satisfy his grandfather's will and keep his family's estate. It just so happens that Nolan is in love with him, and Hugo likes Nolan, and thinks Nolan will fit nicely into his schedule and family..... The only problem is Nolan wants love, to go along with the white picket fence, and 2.5 children, and the life Hugo has set for himself. Can Hugo set aside his alpha ways? Can Hugo and Nolan work out a deal that works for them both?

This is an enjoyable start to what looks to be a new series. Peter Styles and J.P. Oliver write complex characters with heart in often complicated situations. This story has emotion, drama, secrets, intrusive family, and some surprising twists. I liked this story, and I am interested to see what the next book brings.

This was another enjoyable read by Peter Styles. In this one we have Hugo and Nolan. They are from the same small town. Nolan has liked Hugo for a long time. After working with him he decides to quit and move back home. Of course fate had other plans and needless to say after some drama they get their HEA.

Great!

Hugo and Nolan were business associates and Hugo was good with that. But Nolan was leaving the company because he felt unappreciated. Plus, he wanted a family, home, and kids. So when he went to meet "Edward "....boy was he shocked!!! Good read, characters, and full of drama can be had in this book!
