This was a cute and fun read set on the beautiful island of Santorini. Although the story was fun, it did have emotional moments, especially with the story of Anna's father and their relationship.

Overall this novel was a quick and enjoyable read and the story would be made even more enjoyable if it was read on a vacation or in the midst of travelling.

This novel is definitely one that would be a cute romantic comedy to see adapted into film, especially if the location was set in beautiful Santorini.

Breezy, hopeful, and romantic!

The Summer House in Santorini is a delightfully charming, touching tale that takes us into the life of Anna Linton at a time when her love life is in tatters, her career is stalling, and she's reluctantly heading to the Mediterranean to sell a house she unexpectedly inherited from her recently deceased, estranged father.

The writing is light and smooth. The characters are independent, hardworking, and caring. And the plot is an uplifting tale of life, love, friendship, family, community, starting over, taking chances, old hurts, new beginnings, following one's dreams, and contentment.

Overall, The Summer House in Santorini is a heartwarming, engaging, summery read that reminds us to always surround ourselves with those we love, stay open-minded, and be excited for whatever comes next.

Thank you to HarperImpulse and Rachel's Random Resources for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was a beautiful summer romance on a Greek Island, what's not to like. When Anna finds out her father has left her sister, Lizzy, and her his summer home on Santorini Island she is at a crossroads. All she has ever wanted to be is a photographer. She works in the gallery of a famous photographer, hoping for her big break, but so far, nothing. She has just seen her boss and sometime lover with another woman and after confronting him, she tells him she is going to Greece. He unceremoniously fires her and she has no reason not to spend time in Greece. Her father left his family behind in the US when Anna was only five, so she has never met her grandparents and thinks she hates her deceased father. Can the allure of a Greek Island in summer, a handsome Greek man, her grandparents, a neglected cottage and her first true female friend change her mind about staying?

This was a sweet, new beginnings romance story with some family drama as well. When Anna heads off to Santorini, she is somewhat bitter, yet hopeful that she could fix up the summer house, sell it and use the money to live on while trying to become known in the photography world. She is also a bit insecure and afraid of relationships. Thinking her father abandoned her when she was five, has set the stage for her feelings about men, as inaccurate as the information from her mother may be. When she allowed herself to loosen up, we meet a new, loving, carefree Anna. This is the Anna I liked. I loved the characters of Niko and Elena. They supported Anna, became her friends and loved her. I was rooting for Niko to break through Anna's defenses so she could figure out what she wanted out of life, not what she thought she needed or deserved.

The setting was wonderful. Samantha Parks did a wonderful job with the descriptions of where they were and what they were seeing. I could almost visualize what they saw, even though I have never been to Greece. You can bet that it just moved up on my bucket list of places to go. Overall, this was a great summer story about love, new beginnings, taking chances and not always believing everything you are told about another person. I definitely recommend this story to anyone who enjoys a summer romance involving new beginnings. This is another one of those books that I could see being made into a Hallmark Movie that I would love to watch. Bravo. I received a copy of this book from Rachel's Random Resources. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

A beautiful heart warming read which transported me from the warm rush hour traffic to the brilliant blue seas and the peaceful landscapes of Santorini. This is also one of the places that I would love to visit one day.

Anna learned some truths about her life where she realized she had no personal life or a career. Packing her bags, she escaped the dreary life to the peaceful island of Santorini where her father had left her a ramshackle cottage. Helping her to fix it was the handsome va-va-voom hunk Nikos. And sparks flew.

The debut by Samantha Parks had me dreaming about the story as it unfolded, though I have to admit in my mind it was me that Nikos was romancing. I couldn't help it. Samantha's writing had the magic which transported me to the magical beautiful island, directly into Nikos's arms.

Emotions gripped my heart, there was fun and humor too. Anna was a great character who got the opportunity to a second start to her life. Nikos was the catalyst to her broken heart. Romance was never more in the air till I read this book.

This was an easy perky breakfast read which uplifted me, caused me to hope and dream, and in the end, it was all about LOVE. A fast paced, fun romantic story which brightened up my day considerably.

I adored all the descriptions of Santorini, the Greek food, the landscapes and most of all the Summer House itself.

Anna was not expecting to inherit this summer house from her estranged father, who she has been brought up to hate. Much less does she have any desire to go to Greece, meet her paternal grandparents and sort this inheritance out.

But after she discovers her boyfriend cheating on her, and loses her job, off to Santorini is a far better plan.

It's a story of a woman falling in love with not only a man, as there is of course a Greek Adonis figure to drool over, but of her falling in love with a country, although admittedly neither of those are quick.

As Anna renovates the house ready for a sale, she makes some very good new friends, discovers the truth about her father, and starts to learn more about herself too.

A very enjoyable debut novel, and I'm looking forward to seeing what the author writes next.

Thank you to One More Chapter and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I am obsessed with books based in Santorini at the moment, as i am sure you can tell - its one of those places i love to read about and visit in my head, the sights, the people & the food. This book ticked all the boxes for me again. Anna is having the worst time in her life, when her world comes shattering down around her - hope comes in the form of unknown family. Her father passed away, and has left a summer house to Anna and her sister. To accept this, one of them must travel over to accept it.

Anna has plans to do it up, get it on the market and return back to her life. However alot more work is needed than she initiallly thought and as she starts to pour herself into re builiding the house, she starts to learn more about herself, her family and what she wants from the future. Maybe she doesnt have as many ties back home as she initally thought.

This was a wonderful pick me up. I found The Summer House In Santorini had beautiful description, i could visualise the summer house as it transformed before my eyes. I enjoyed watching Anna change and flourish with her wonderful new friends. This would be a great poolside read, it was full of escapism and i as a reader adored it.

I’m a bit in trouble with this review. I loved this book while reading it, but I didn’t write down my thoughts right after, and after only a couple of weeks, I have to realize that it didn’t really stay with me. It was awesome while it lasted, but that’s it. It didn’t make a lasting impression.

That being said, I honestly enjoyed reading it. It was sweet, sometimes bittersweet, the characters were loveable, obviously beautiful, as it is apparently a must in the genre, the relationships were cute, and Santorini lived in the story.

What I especially loved was that the island was mostly pictured through its lovely people, and not discriptions of the place itself. That worked for me well. I loved the place with its lovely, loud, beautiful souls.

The love story itself was painfully expectable, but it didn’t bother me, I wanted the characters to find their way, no matter that I knew what that way was.

I solely read this book because I was on vacation on a small Greek island (albeit Kos, not Santorini) at the time. For this purpose - reading it while letting the Greek sun warming your skin and having the soft lapping of the waves as background music - it was ok. But sadly not much more.

The story was in various places illogical (Why did the father never tried to contact his daughters directly, as soon as they were old enough, for instance?), the love story seemed to me rather forced (Just because they are both single and at the same age they have to be madly in love? - And by the way, why was Nikos single to begin with if he is such a perfect guy?), Elena was telling Anna one day she should keep her hands off of Nikos if she is returning to NYC anyway, and the next day she is biting her head of for not returning Nikos feelings for her!, and Anna was by the end really getting on my nerves with her constant crying. The ex showing up for 10 minutes really did it for me then, that was just ridiculous, especially for the reason he came - absolutely unrealistic!

I liked the parts about fixing up the little house, and where the author describes the little island in the Aegean Sea. Also, Anna's profession as a photographer was an interesting angle. The rest was just only ok, and the 'family secret' promised on the blurb isn't even one.

Oh how disappointing it is to be drawn into what sounds like a perfect, escapist story, by the publisher’s blurb and then be so disappointed. The characters never came to life and I disliked Anna in particular, and could not get interested in her. I found her self absorbed and curiously insensitive to cultural differences and family loyalties. The story meandered and took ages to lead anywhere. Having visited Santorini several times, I was ready to be taken there and was sadly disappointed. The author did not create a viable picture of that wonderful island for me. The book needed a good edit and I’m afraid I got bored very quickly trying to wade through it.

Ok, I'm sorry but I couldn't.

DNF @ 8%

I imagine the book is great for many people but I couldn't. The book is written in the first person which is not a problem for me, some of my fav books are in first person but I could not stand the MC. I could not stand the way she talks and she thinks, I just couldn't. Not to be rude but I felt like my brain cells were dying while reading this book, so I DNF'd.

This is such a great summer book, and was perfect to kick off my little challenge to read 12 summer themed books before mid Sept.

It’s got it all. A stunning setting which is beautifully described (Santorini), a romance I cared about, a MC whose character arc I believed in and a lovely ending, which I won’t spoil.

I definitely need to get the next one now.

Anna kam einfach alles so zugeflogen.

First of all how stunning is that cover? The cover alone would have convinced me to read this book but when you add in a delightful cottage in a stunning location, a sexy love interest and a host of brilliant characters then you have a perfect summer read.

Do you know that feeling of warmth that washes over you the minute you read the first chapters of an uplifting novel and you know that it will be a winner?  Well this is one of those books.

Anna travels to Santorini to claim an inheritance (a summer house) from her estranged father.  Broke, alone and penniless she only intends on staying long enough to repair and sell the house but as she gets to know her family and the locals, she begins to change her mind.

I fell in love with Anna and Santorini immediately and I couldn't put this stunning book down.  The words on each page just totally washed over me and took me along on Anna's journey.  The setting is simply stunning and I really want to just go an live in the summer house by myself for a few weeks.

Anna is a delightful character although a little judgmental, it's easy to see why.  As well as her personal journey and the romantic aspect of the novel, there is also the real story of what really happened between her mother and her father all those years ago.

In simple terms - if you love location romances then you'll fall in love with this novel too - it's a perfect summer read.

Book : The Summer House in Santorini .

Author : Samantha Parks.

Genre : Women Fiction , Romance , Contemporary .

Rate : 4/5.

Review in one word : Delightful .

***********************

I really love this type of books , which is full of vacation vibes , romance and Character’s development .

Our story is all about new beginnings , Relationships , friends, family , development , trust and love. We follow the journey of Anna who has always believed her father abandonment had a great effect on her relations with others . At the beginning of the novel , Anna went through a failed relationship and broken dreams . She got nothing left , so she decided to go to Greece and confront her biggest problems .

We follow her adventures in this Greek island . Samantha Parks has done a great job in the descriptions part , her words are lush and visual , While reading , I imagined every detail as if I’m there with the characters .

I loved the characters so much , especially Anna , her development through the book was amazing , how she worked towards change , accepting others , Forgiveness and developing strong relations was so great to read about . The plot was really good , all in all , it was a really entertaining and enjoyable novel .

Parks Writing style is charming , delightful and powerful . How she moved from one scene to the next was really good and connected , I was so immersed in the story and rooting for the relation between the main couple , it was really interesting . Waiting for more books from this Brilliant author .

The best thing about this story is definitely the sitting , I’ve never been to Greece , but the author with her details and descriptions got me all excited to visit it one day .

Romance lovers and book lovers in general will for sure enjoy this book . Highly recommended .

Thank you to the author and Rachels Random Resources for providing me with a free copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was such an enjoyable read and while just from the cover and synopsis I knew it would be my kind of book I didn't expect myself to enjoy reading it quite as much as I did!

Anna needs a new start in life, after a few events that leave her needing to get away she finds herself in Greece in the house left to her by her estranged dad. I loved not only how the author described the scenery but how she was able to use Anna's love of photography to really bring it all together. Anna was a really likable character as were Niko and Elena and I just really enjoyed seeing how their story unfolded. There is a bit of family drama added to the mix as Anna really starts to discover herself and all that she is capable of. It has quickly made it's way up to one of my favorite books of the year!

Rating: 4/5

This was definitely a Hallmark-style cutesy Rom-Com that definitely delivered in the setting area. Not only did the reader get the trademark Oia Santorini descriptions (the blue domes, the whitewashed stone buildings), but the readers really got to experience Santorini as a local--not one of the rich tourists. It was a story about discovery of identity and facing our fears to move on.

This would make a great Hallmark movie (with a few Hallmark channel edits to keep it rated G:) It follows the Hallmark-style Rom-Com perfectly (so don't read this expecting to be surprised by the ending.)

If you want to escape the four walls of your house right now, this is a great way to escape. I read this book in less than 24 hours--it was easy and enjoyable. It would make a perfect beach read, and since none of us can be at the beaches now, why not visit through books:)

This is one of those stories which leaves you with a warm, hopeful feeling. Anna's flight to Santorini, from a life in New York which she feels dissatisfied with, is the catalyst for her to re-evaluate what is important in her life. What she finds in Santorini is a family she barely knows and a different view on her parents and her past life. She also finds friends who measure their lives by a different yardstick to the people she knows in New York.

The beauty of the setting and the Summer sunshine leaves us with a stunning picture of life in Santorini. You can visualise the Summer House and imagine it as Anna sets about renovating it. It is great to follow how her thoughts develop. Her vocation as a photographer is embedded within the story as she captures its colour and sights. This is a perfect holiday read, full of the enjoyment of being in a different culture and suffused with the culture and customs of Greece.

In short: A story which sizzles in the Greek Sunshine.

Thanks to the author for a copy of the book.

'And the most vibrant thing on Santorini isn't the sunset but the souls who inhabit it...'

Oh my gosh I LOVED IT! This was honestly one of the best books I've read in a long while. You know those books that are just easy and happy, and leave you in a completely good mood? Yep, that was this.

Yes it was a bit predictable, but who cares? Why do books always have to be surprising? Personally, I love a good romance, and a happy ending was exactly what the doctor ordered.

The setting is gorgeous and so vivid, the characters are beautifully written, and the romance felt so natural and believable. Do yourself a favour and read it! Preferably on a beach somewhere, but if not, it will definitely give you that holiday feeling.

My first official 5 star read this year! This book was entirely cheesy and rom commy and I loved every second of it. It gave me butterflies reading the budding romance, I loved the setting, and I loved the story of a daughter finding family and love in a place she hated her entire life. Highly recommend if you want a quick, easy, sweet romance!

Awarding this one a trophy for most boring book of 2024. 🏆

I was hoping for a romantic Greek novel while sitting poolside in Crete but this was a snooze fest. I truly don’t understand the 4.1 star reviews. I kept holding on for something eventful to happen but never did… and it didn’t seem to want to end.

SPOILERS, because you shouldn’t waste your time anyways…

-A perfect, handsome, charming greek man happens to be very single (likely)

-Anna’s sister cannot bear to travel to Santorini to accept an inheritance because it’s asparagus season (??) so Anna is forced to go (poor thing)

-Anna’s dad missed his daughters SO MUCH but never attempted to reach out to them directly after their mother didn’t reply to his letters after 25 years

-Anna’s ex boyfriend who cheated on her and didn’t care about her happens to easily track her down in Greece.

-Nikos fell in love with Anna but the day after he found out she wasn’t staying he was anxiously awaiting a date with a family friend, Maria
