When I first read the blurb I wasn't too sure what to expect, but this book is so much more, than a romance you are led to believe.
I really enjoyed this Charming read but I did feel fairly lost to start with. I felt like I was dropped in the middle of a story and had no clue who was who, or what was going on. However I did warm to the story fairly quickly.
Prince Bennett, a womanizer, charming and very attractive, knows everything about horses, and has an attraction to the endearing Lady Hannah Rothchild.
Lady Hannah Rothchild came to Cordina as a friend and to help Bennett's sister-in-law give birth. She comes across as a little dull but with sass and wit, she's endearing, there is something mysterious about her. She has another side to her, shrewd and reckless, a taste for danger and the ability to store the most littlest of details. But Lady Hannah is hiding something. Is she exactly who she says she is? And just why is she working for the man who tried to kill Prince Bennett's family?
THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS is shroud in mystery and intrigue, romance and lust, friendship, family and danger.
It's a compelling and endearing read. The romance is passionate and warm. Nora's characters are beautifully developed they are seamless, strong, full of depth and intrigue. The pace flows along perfectly, there are plenty of thrilling twists to keep the reader hooked.
Overall The Magic of Christmas is a tantalising, and ultimately a very satisfying read which I couldn't put down.
Thank you to Isabel at HQ Digital for this copy which I reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
The Magic of Christmas by Nora Roberts is two stories in one. Inside the beautiful festive cover you will find two very different stories, ‘The Playboy Prince’ and ‘Charmed’.
In The Playboy Prince, we meet Prince Bennett and his family who have been through some troubled times with an old enemy. Unfortunately, that enemy is about to be let out of prison and the palace is now like a fortress.
A newcomer to the palace has caught the attention of the Prince, but is Lady Hannah Rothschild all that meets the eye?
In Charmed, we meet three cousins who are witches. This book follows Anastacia Donovan who can feel others pain and can take it away. When she meets single dad Boone Sawyer she can feel how much pain he has at the loss of his wife and having to bring up his daughter alone.
Anastacia finds herself falling for Boone, but will he want her when he finds out she is a witch?
Both of these books have previously been released as part of different series. The Playboy Prince is part of the Cordina’s Royal Family Series and is book three. Charmed is part of The Donovan Legacy and is also book three in that series.
Although both are the third in a series I found them easy to read and understand and they worked well as standalones.
Both stories were very charming and enjoyable to read. I think I enjoyed The Playboy Prince a little more than Charmed as I found the character development and the plot very interesting and the mystery surrounding Lady Hannah intriguing.
If you haven’t read these two books and are a Nora Roberts fan then this is a great book to pick up. It would also make a fabulous Christmas present for an avid reader too.
The Magic Of Christmas by Nora Roberts contains two modern day fairy tales showing you are never too old for fantasy and make believe. Both have characters that warm the reader’s heart. Did I have a favourite? No, both were similar but different and I enjoyed escaping for a few hours. A word of caution – for me there was a little too much detail in the bedroom scenes so I skipped over them. It did not detract from my overall enjoyment of the novel though. The Playboy Prince is a contemporary romantic adventure. There are the themes of trust and deception as masks are worn to conceal true characters. It is a Cinderella story with agents and spies as destruction and devastation are planned. A dashing prince and a loving close knit family mean there is something for everyone as the reader escapes for the afternoon. Charmed is a contemporary fantasy fairy tale that deals with witches, wizards, fairy princesses and frogs. It has the themes of love, loss, healing and new beginnings. There is a delightful young girl who will warm your heart. Another afternoon’s escape. I received this book for free. A favourable review was not required and all views expressed are my own.
When it comes to romance and getting lost in a story, Nora Roberts is one of my go-to authors as she always hits the mark perfectly, and THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS is no different as I completely fell in love with both stories and didn't come up for air until I had turned the last page.
First up is The Playboy Prince where we are transported to a world of royalty and wealth but also a place where family is most important. When Lady Hannah Rothschild arrives to be a companion for his beloved sister-in-law, Prince Bennett is prepared to be charming and kind but there is something about the quiet and reserved Hannah that gets under his skin. And when danger surrounds those he loves, Bennett will do what he must to protect his own. But is Hannah exactly who she says she is?
The second story in this book is Charmed and has a magical element that will take your breath away. Anastasia Donovan is content with her life and her home but is determined that she will never risk her heart again ...not after the last disaster. But when her new neighbour and his adorable little girl move in next door, they soon worm their way into her life and her heart. But will Boone be able to accept every part of Anastasia's life?
Compelling, heartwarming, sultry, and completely unputdownable, THE MAGIC OF CHRISTMAS by Nora Roberts is everything you want in a romance and so much more. The characters are warm and engaging, and Nora Roberts has a truly unique style that sucks you into the story immediately and effortlessly. A must-read collection for every romance fan.
*I voluntarily reviewed this book from the Publisher
I have read a couple of Nora’s books and I have really enjoyed them. I was asked if I would like to take part in the blog tour for ‘The Magic Of Christmas’ and knowing how much I had previously enjoyed Nora’s books, I accepted. When I accepted, I didn’t realise that ‘The Magic Of Christmas’ is actually two books in one – ‘The Playboy Prince’ and ‘Charmed’. So I knew I would be in for two cracking reads and so it proved to be. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘The Magic Of Christmas’ but more about that in a bit. What I love about the characters in Nora’s books is the fact that they are so realistic. By that I mean that she describes her characters so well that you could almost imagine that they are stood or sat in front of you. She also makes the characters seem human and I know that that might sound silly to some. What I mean is that the characters are basically good people, who make the odd mistake or two, people who have had a few knocks along the way but they get up, dust themselves down and carry on. They also have certain flaws but nothing that can’t be sorted out or changed. Above all, you know that in the end things will work themselves out. I certainly loved the range of characters in this 2 in 1 book. I must admit that I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked this book up. Like a lot of people, I made the mistake of thinking that as it was a Mills & Boon book, I thought that it would be a solely romantic novel where the characters would get together and live happily ever after. ‘The Magic Of Christmas’ is so much more than purely a romance novel. Of course this book has a huge amount of romance, but there’s also drama, romance, deception, intrigue, mythical within these pages. It didn’t take me long at all to get into the book and by the end of the first page, I was definitely addicted to reading. I was pleasantly surprised by just how much I did enjoy escaping into both stories, especially as I am not usually a huge fan of romance novels. I binge read this book over the course of a couple of days because I simply couldn’t put it down. I picked it up at the right time because I was in need of a distraction from some unpleasantness that I was going through. This book helped me to escape to another place and concern myself with other people’s problems. I got so carried away that I began to believe that the story was real and talked about the characters as if they were real. In short, I did enjoy reading ‘The Magic Of Christmas’. I would definitely recommend this book to other readers but I would make them aware that this is a two-in-one book and both individual books are the third books in two mini-series. I hope that makes sense. I look forward to reading more of Nora’s books in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 4* out of 5*.
The Magic of Christmas by Nora Roberts features two separate contemporary romances. The Playboy Prince and Charmed! The Playboy Prince is a Cinderella story with a thrill to it. It revolves around Prince Bennett, Lady Hannah Rotschild and a few spies to add to the adventure! While Charmed is a paranoramal-fantasy-romance, with princesses, witches, wizards and frogs!
Both the stories were really swoon worthy and mushy and heart warming. It’s my second Nora Roberts and I liked it so much more than my first! It was a quick read and had some steamy make out scenes! Though The Magic of Christmas lacked Christmas, Nora Roberts made it up with plenty of magic in it!
The pacing was perfect and the writing brilliant! The only thing that bothered and hindered my enjoyment was the boundaries and consent The Playboy Princefailed to maintain. Now, this is my first Mills & Boon and I’m not sure if that’s standard in this genre.(though I don’t know why would that be!)
Ana is a practising witch from a long line of witches in her family. When Boone and his daughter Jessie move in to the cottage next door, her life as she knows it changes forever. This is a charming read by Nora Roberts from a book of 2 stories called the Magic of Christmas. I love her style of writing and read everything she writes. This was a quick and easy read with a touch of fantasy, romance and a satisfying ending.
Didn’t realise quite how cheesy and cringe this book would be until I realised it was originally sold as Mills and Boon 🙈 could’ve potentially forgiven that had the only mentions of Christmas not been right at the end! Why call it a Christmas book if it’s nothing to do with Christmas?!
