Rate this book
Comprehensive and issue-focused, Sport in A History is an engaging and thought-provoking investigation into the role of sports, games, and pastimes in Canadian life. This sweeping history emphasizes the sociocultural factors that inform current issues in sport, such as violence, injury, gender, and multiculturalism. Now in its fourth edition, this revitalized text guides students toward a deeper appreciation of the role sport has played in shaping our national identity.

A short and highly accessible textbook on sport history in Canada. It's a fine starting place for further exploration with a strong bibliography to continue exploration. My main issue is that Indigenous participation in sport, and people of colour more broadly, are only highlighted in some sections rather than being fulsomely integrated.
