From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Thea Harrison… This book contains Dragos Goes to Washington, Pia Does Hollywood, and Liam Takes Manhattan (two novellas and a short story in the Elder Races series, previously published separately). All three stories focus on the Cuelebres, the First Family of the Wyr. Dragos Goes to Washington… Dragos Cuelebre, Lord of the Wyr, needs to throw a party without maiming anyone. That isn’t exactly as easy as it might sound. After the destructive events of the last eighteen months, the Elder Races are heading to Washington D.C. to foster peace with humankind. Not known for his diplomacy skills, Dragos must rely on his mate Pia to help navigate a battlefield of words and polite smiles rather than claws. With Dragos’s mating instinct riding close to the surface, his temper is more volatile than ever and the threat of violence hovers in the air. Pia Does Hollywood… After making a diplomatic pact with humankind and the other leaders of the Elder Races, Pia Cuelebre, mate to Dragos Cuelebre, Lord of the Wyr, reluctantly heads to Hollywood to spend a week with the Light Fae Queen, Tatiana, before the busy Masque season hits New York in December. Dragos has never let the lack of an invitation stop him from doing anything he wanted. Unwilling to let his mate make the trip without him, he travels to southern California in secret to be with her. But when an ancient enemy launches a shattering assault against the Light Fae, Dragos and Pia must intercede. The destruction threatens to spread and strike a mortal blow against all of the magically gifted, both human and Elder Race alike. Liam Takes Manhattan… Reeling from a deep loss, the magical prince of the Wyr, Dragos and Pia’s son Liam Cuelebre, turns inward and withdrawn as he struggles to come to terms with who he is, along with the challenges that lie before him. Hoping to ease his heartache and offer comfort, a concerned Dragos and Pia offer him a gift, something he has desired for a long time. Liam’s response has a ripple effect across all of New York. Soon miracles of all kinds start arriving just in time for Christmas, along with a visit from a mysterious person who gives Liam hope and a vision of his future. Liam Takes Manhattan contains a major spoiler from Shadow’s End (book #9, released December 1st, 2015). If readers do not want to be spoiled, they should read the stories in order of their release dates.
I write paranormal romance, urban fantasy, and other stuff. I taught myself to read when I was four. That was around the time I tried to ride my tricycle to work. I wasn't sure where work was, but I knew it had to be interesting if people went there every day. Now I combine my love of books with work, and I don't have to ride my tricycle to get there. My Elder Races series began May, 2011. You can also find me on Twitter and Facebook!
I have read all of these separately but it's always amazing to come back to this world. I love the characters so much and I can't wait for more from Ms. Harrison.
Again a fantastic set of stories about Dragos, Pia and Liam. Growing up is hard but it must be worse when it happens so quickly. I loved these stories and I can't wait for more.
Just like with Volume I, I devoured this after I finally got through book seven and eight. I absolutely loved being back with Dragos and Pia!
Dragos goes to Washington was fabulous and super funny. I love how deeply entwined the two of them are now, it feels like they've been together for much longer than 18 months. Also, seeing Dragos and other Elder Races leaders deal with human politicians was different and very interesting. I enjoyed it throughout and finished it laughing, too.
In Pia does Hollywood, she and Dragos take it up a notch, their situation there was even more dramatic than his amnesia before. I loved it too, the cute baby dreams as well, though they were very different from the ones she had of the peanut. However, I somehow didn't realize before that Bailey, the Light Fae princess, is the same Bailey that worked with Sebastian in his novella. On that note, it was nice to get to know more about Tatiana, the Light Fae Queen. I had been wondering about who Melisande's father is since her book. And surprisingly, I liked Aryal in this one. Now I'm wondering if that mysterious, extremely dangerous Morgan dude will appear again.
Again, the last novella, Liam takes Manhattan, was my least favourite. I hate how quickly he grew up and I deeply disliked seeing him butt heads with his father, but it was still sweet getting his thoughts on his mother and it left me with a smile. I'm curious as to what the future brings for him after he set himself this huge goal in book nine.
I'm definitely looking forward to the next novellas.
Sep 12/23 review - Dragos Goes to Washington On behalf of Dragos - stupid humans!!! A stressful vignette with different things going wrong during an extremely important political event.
Pia Does Hollywood Zombies. Well, kind of. Elfin zombies. It’s pretty gruesome. Poor Pia. And poor Dragos. This story could have been longer, and I wish it had. The most important part of this is the introduction of Morgan La Fae.
~~ Jul 23/18 review - Dragos Goes To Washington, Elder Races 8.5 (r Jul 24/18) This one isn’t a lot of fun. Stress, Pia’s ill health, etc. It’s a good story though.
Pia Does Hollywood, Elder Races 8.6 (r Jul 25/18) Also not much fun. Morgan is introduced, which is good. But man, so much misery, so many more people dead.
Liam Takes Manhattan, Elder Races 9.5 (r Jul 26/18) Not a romance, a nice update on Liam.
Bought from audible. (Not part of romance package)
