The final fight will change their perception forever.
Everything Elle Hartmut and her friends thought they knew about the alien menace—and the nature of their universe—is wrong.
With mounting evidence that the aliens behind the Darkness reside on a hyperdimensional plane above spacetime, Elle and the Dark Sentinels will need a new approach to win. However, preventing the impending alien invasion will test their team in ways they never imagined.
The ancient artifacts wielded by the Dark Sentinels may hold the key to victory. If they can understand and master their true abilities, they may still be able to save the Hegemony and their loved ones before the invasion’s final stage consumes them all.
The Dark Stars trilogy combines high-tech sci-fi with traditional fantasy magic, perfect for fans of Final Fantasy, Star Ocean, and Xenosaga. Join Elle in her final battle against the Darkness!
A.K. (Amy) DuBoff has always loved science fiction in all its forms, including books, movies, shows, and games. If it involves outer space, even better!
She is an award-winning and USA Today bestselling indie author specializing in space-based science fiction and fantasy. Dubbed the modern “Queen of Space Opera” by her readers, she is most known for her acclaimed Cadicle Universe. Amy’s short fiction has been published by NewCon Press, Seventh Seal Press, and in numerous indie publications.
When she's not writing, she enjoys travel, wine tasting, binge-watching TV series, and playing epic strategy board games.
Continuing from 'A Light in the Dark', I plunged into the third book 'Masters of Fate' thinking 'DuBoff can't possible end this on a high note, drawing this fantastic adventure to a worthy ending!'.
I was wrong.
Things continued to take unexpected turns, and I was blown away, sucked further into a fantastic Universe where Fantasy and Science Fiction blended seamlessly into a coherent and exciting story!
I was flabbergasted!
I was unable to put the Novel down, as was the case with the first two books, and after I had finished it some hours later, bring totally surprised by the clever an unexpected resolution, I felt a sadness creeping over me, wishing the heroes and heroines could continue their fantastic adventures. Fortunately, the ending implies more magical quests by the Dark Sentinels team!
'Masters if Fate' is in my professional opinion (I write SF exclusively) the best SFF, Science Fiction Fantasy, I have read. Mrs DuBoff has the unusual talent of writing an easily read language that has complex concepts dealt with, but without the 'look-at-me-and-my-fancy-words' plague that some Authors suffer from. She also has a good grasp of Science, with concepts like eleven dimensional space, a scientifically plausible scenario that Scientists have all but confirmed.
In fact, I haven't come across such enticing writing since I devoured Isaac Asimov's books, and that's no small feat!
This third book easily deserves five stars! Well done, Mrs DuBoff. (Remember that name!)
**MINOR SPOILERS** This was the third book of a three book series. The story is on the unbelievable side. The premise is that crystals will allow you to ‘reset’ your life or that of others for a period of time. It depends on the range of the crystals. The reset happens more than once in the book. A group of unprepared characters are asked to save the universe. I think this is meant to be a YA book because 3 of the 4 main characters are young. They have miraculously good instincts and solve problems very quickly. In this world, they have greater technology and history with the crystals, but still their ability to figure things out quickly is improbable. I do like the four main characters. They are heroes. Each has a skill they bring to the table. The point of view character, Elle, is the youngest but usually leads the group. She has more skills than the others or at least has developed them the most. The book raises a few philosophical questions which I enjoyed. The book was a good conclusion to the trilogy.
The final book in the trilogy wraps up the story nicely. We learn about the Darkness, and some cool stuff about the aliens.
This series (and this book, too) is what I'd describe as a "candy" book. It probably won't win any of the snobby high literary awards, but you'll have much more fun reading this book.
The characters continue to grow, and there's a satisfying ending. The last book wraps up the story nicely, but still leaves room for more stories set in the same universe (and I'd want to read them!)
Fantastic series!! I honestly felt like I was teenager again playing the Phantasy Star games. The story was fantastic and characters were wonderful. Such vivid descriptions about the universe and world settings. I can only hope the adventure continues. Thank you Amy for such a great series.
This is the last book of the trilogy. We get answers to what's been happening as things have escalated through the series with the Darkness and aliens. We see what happens to our favorite four as things come to a close. I enjoyed the way this story tied up for us..
Characters are well thought out and are relatable. Glad to watch the team grow into a family over the three book series. Look in he forward to more books from this author. Excellent!
