(Let me tell you a little story before we begin.)

OH MY GOD, I WROTE THIS TOTALLY AWESOME REVIEW. And I was ALMOST DONE WITH IT.

And then I accidentally pressed the "Tab" button.

WARNING TO FELLOW REVIEW READERS: While writing a review, NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER press the tab button! Especially when you're almost finished with your super long and awesome review!

Because...when I pressed that (bleeeeeeep)ing button.......IT SENT ME BACK TO THE HOME PAGE!
And MY REVIEW...WAS FOREVER LOST IN CYBERSPACE!

I feel really pissed right now, but I really SHOULDN'T BE! Because

1. This book was just...so good. Remember when I said in the Volume 15 review that Vol. 15 was the best installment yet in this series? VOLUME 16 TOTALLY TOPPED IT! So if you liked Vol. 15, you'll love this volume.

2. THIS THING GOT A FIVE-STAR RATING. It was just that awesome.

3. My original review (the one that just got locked away in cyberspace) was very enthusiastic because this book was just so awesome.

4. AND APPARENTLY, Volume 17 is the last installment of LCD'O! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO (*bawls eyes out). I can't let my second-to-last La Corda D'Oro review be about how I was so incredibly stupid by pressing the "Tab" key and how incredibly stupid that "Tab" key is!

5. Oh, and apparently, this is the first review for Vol. 16 on GOODREADS! I gotta let this review be really good!

So yes. I shall rewrite this review. AND IT'S GOING TO BE A (bleep) OF A LOT BETTER THAN MY ORIGINAL REVIEW!!!!!

(*stomps foot down onto the ground so hard that it causes earthquake) MWAH HA HA HA HA HA!

Okay, so anyway, onto the review:

Warning: (Read like the long, mile list of symptoms said super fast on commercials for medications and drugs.) This review may contain spoilers. No, actually, it WILL contain spoilers. Guaranteed, promised, and assured. If you are a fellow review reader who suffers from spoilers, the affect of spoilers, the torture of spoilers, and the frustration of spoilers, Theresa advises you not to read this review. Those who can endure spoilers may proceed, and those who already know what has happened may also proceed. Also, be prepared for how awesome this review is going to be. If you are not able to withstand extreme awesomeness, Theresa advises you to locate from this page immediately. Symptoms of reading this warning and review include laughter, eagerness of wanting to spend money on this book, growth of extra eyes or legs (if you are a certain kind of human being), and the possible need to comment on this review in the comment box down BELOW.

So here we go.

First of all, this book is full of LEN. So, if you guys are fans of Len (JUST LIKE ME), you guys will LOVE THIS VOLUME.

(*swoon) Len. His blue hair...his mysterious jerkiness.......somehow, that kind of thing attracts me to anime guys (no matter how cliche it can be).

I mean there's always a heroine and the guy that's a jerk to that heroine, but through the story, he begins to grow fond of her and learns to LOVE her. It might be cliche, but I love things like that.
(THIS IS THE ONLY TYPE OF CLICHENESS THAT I WILL ACCEPT.)

He's probably one of the reasons why this volume gets 5 sparkly sparkly stars.

Another reason is probably some of the things that happened in this installment.

Okay, so you guys all know how in the last volume, it was stated that Len was going to Germany and he wasn't able to tell Kahoko when?
Well, he does in this volume. And it's WAY WAY WAY sooner than Kahoko thinks.

So, on the day that Len has to leave, the day when Kahoko is scheduled to perform, Len comes to see her perform just before he has to leave for the airport. And she sees him in the audience.
After she's done, Len leaves.

And what does that girl do?

SHE RUNS! She runs LIKE THE WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIND!
(Well, it doesn't really show her running like the wind, but you can tell that she ran because she's panting and wheezing once she catches up with Len.)

That's the part that I really, really like. Not the wheezing and panting part, but how she runs after him no matter what, because she knows that if she doesn't catch up to him, she might not ever see him again.

She didn't care that she was wearing a huge fancy dress or fancy hair, and she didn't just sit there and go "BOO HOO! I can't believe he left! Now I'm going to sit here and cry because that's all I can do, because I didn't think about running after him and now it's too late, NOOOOOO!"
She RAN after him!

And a girl running after a guy like that takes guts. And energy. Two things where effort is definitely required!

I don't know, I guess I just loved this for personal reasons. When you love something and you're about to see it slip out of your hands, you shouldn't just stand there and watch! You shouldn't just think, "Ugh. I lose after all." or "No, I can't do it."
You run after it. You try. How could you just let something or someone you love fall out of your fingers?

That's what I tell all of my friends, and everyone who ever asks me for advice, or anyone that has ever made this mistake before. Run after them no matter what! Don't feel like you've lost, because you've only lost if you believe that you lost and you don't try to win!

You wouldn't BELIEVE how many movies I've seen where the guy just rolls his eyes at the girl walking away from him and saying, "Oh, whatever. Me doing something won't change a thing."
Or the girl saying, "No! He won't take me back!" or "No! He won't want to see me!"
It makes me want to stick my head into the TV screen and go, "IDIOT!!!!" while slapping them to and fro across the face!!!

So yeah. I'm so glad that Kahoko ran after Len. THANK GOODNESS.

Oh, and the art in this book was just SO PRETTY!!!!!! It's not the really, really fancy, shoujo-manga type art where the characters look really cute and the outfits are all fancy and stuff.
This art just looked really nice. The character's complexions looked really good. I LOVED IT.

The thing is..........Len's hair is blue. There's also a dude with green hair (actually, 2 dudes, I think). There's a dude with blonde hair (but isn't he Japanese???), a dude with purple hair, and Kahoko has red hair. That's some pretty interesting hair colors.
Oh, the things you're able to pull off in anime.

Yup. That's...basically the awesome review. I feel that this review is better than the original one!
But still...I'm really still upset that I pressed that "tab" button. DARN THING. (Oh, goodreads.)

I have been too generous with this series. A four star series it is not (as I have rated it in past volumes), or at least, not anymore. The artwork aside, which has been a consistent weakness though not a deal breaker in the series, the story is, simply put, floundering.

What was charming in the beginning - a girl with no talent in music suddenly thrust into the spotlight as a competitor in a school-wide music competition, her learning how to play the violin with supernatural aid, her feeling guilty because she hasn't done all this on her own, and thus she becomes determined to really learn how to play the instrument - is all lost in the story now. Instead, we have our heroine, Kahoko, pining after the violin prodigy, Len. Pining so much so that she loses her focus on her performance to ridiculous levels.

Now, I like a good romance. But, I also like a smart romance. This is neither.

To top it off, about of third of this volume is dedicated once again to a side-story or spin-off or whatever that the mangaka is trying to promote. La Corda d'Oro should have wrapped up volumes ago. Instead, we have one more to go. sigh.

This is the second to the last volume, and it sadly missed the mark a little. I felt that the story pushed Len too much; suddenly he has feelings and it's affecting the people in the main love triangle a lot, but he's also peacing out. I wasn't a fan of this flood of emotions leading to nothing and was poorly built up as well. I have always been kind to this series because it's fun. Hopefully, the final volume can redeem itself. I previously stated that I enjoyed the inclusion of the past. However, this time around, it came off as filler and highly unnecessary since it didn't reveal anything and only added more characters. This is the second to the last volume! Can the last volume answer for everything? 3/5.

Un tomo un poco decepcionante, siento que las cosas pasaron demasiado rápido para que pudieran asentarse bien. Pero voy a hacer una reseña más larga en el último tomo con mi opinión de toda la serie en general. Por ahora, este tomo es un 2.5.

I really quite love this series. After I read a volume, and maybe because it takes so long for the next one to come out and even longer for me to get it, I tend to forget just how much I like it. But then I get the next one, and I read it, and I remember how much I love the characters and the story. And, you guys, there’s only one volume left! And it’s possible that, according to Amazon, we’ll be waiting until May! … I just… I wanted to cry after I found that out. I didn’t, because I’m not a crier, but trust me, my inner fangirl was sobbing. I’m not surprised, as I was expecting it to take a while, but that’s just…that’s so long. That’s almost a whole school year, you guys.

This was kind of a slow volume, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. It continues the music competition from the last volume, as well as the little drama of Len leaving. Ryotaro performs first and then, later that night, Kahoko stops by Len’s house. She’s not really sure why, just feels that she has to give him his gift right now, and he’s understandably surprised. That’s when he tells her that he’s, you know, leaving tomorrow. She handles it rather well, even while being upset about the fact that he was just going to leave, without saying anything. He chases after her, but finds her talking with Ryotaro and doesn’t interrupt. Ryotaro drops her off at home, and then picks her up in the morning, the day of her performance.

Everyone wishes her congratulations, and find out that Len is leaving that day (most of who didn’t know). Kahoko has a small freak out, and her performance starts out rough but ends much better. During the performance, she wonders if Len is going to show up, as he promised and said he doesn’t break promises, and then she wonders where Ryotaro is (as he’s gone to find Len), and finally sees them up near the entrance, as they showed up late.

After her performance, Len leaves her flowers with Ryotaro, as he has to get to the airport, and she goes chasing after him. She just barely catches up to him, just long enough for a small farewell and for him to give her his jacket.

And then the last quarter of the volume is taken up with La Corda d’Oro 3. I really want to like this story and the characters, and I kind of do, but I just… I haven’t been with these characters for sixteen volumes, okay? I’ve seen them for a couple of volumes now, and they are interesting and different from La Corda d’Oro. I’m just not as invested in them. After getting caught up with Kahoko and the others for most of the volume, I’m not ready to give up that much time for a different storyline and different characters. Especially so close to the end. There’s one volume left. I want that last volume, really badly; I really want to see what happens; I don’t want to focus on some other, minor characters. Maybe if I was reading more about them, but I’m not, it’s just tiny pieces, extra chapters at the end of the book. Also, most of the chapter focuses on characters that are not the ones we originally met, which just made me a bit confused till the end. And I don’t like that it’s setting up for a bigger storyline, characters that I could care about, when I’m not going to get to see very much of them. There’s only one more book for them to be in, and I’m pretty sure the video game isn’t released over here, or in English, so… Well, after looking, I guess Kure started a series over in Japan staring them last year, but who knows if that'll get published and how long that'll take.

Mainly, I just want to focus on Kahoko and the others. Particularly the Kahoko and Len storyline, as I really enjoy them together, but I like all of the other characters as well, so I’m looking forward to the end, even if it’ll be upsetting that it’s all over.

Ahahaha wow, okay so apparently the theme of this volume was me freaking out over the series ending. Like I got to the end of Chapter 70 and it cut away to the side story and I was like ????? Oh god is it over? It can't be over! There isn't enough sense of resolution here! D: I calmed down as I read the side story and then I got to the postscript saying the next volume would be the last. ;_; But I'm not ready to let go!

I hope the story with the new kids will continue in its own series and get translated because I like them and I'm going to be really disappointed if it was all that was just for a oneshot. I don't think it can be, it'd be unpardonably messy to introduce that many characters if Yuki Kure didn't plan to do anything with them. 3.5 stars

translation rating 2/5
Although I am still enjoying the series the translation of Viz series in general and La Corda's Measure 67 in particular are the main reason I still look at scanlations online. If North American publishers were truly serious about shutting down sites like mangafox and their ilk they would hire the scanlation groups who actually put out a higher quality product. And why do I think some scanlation groups put out a higher quality product? Quite simply, they love and enjoy the series and are willing to put alot of unpaid, under-appreciated work to share the manga with other manga lovers.

This volume seemed more like a filler with lots of pining in it. It kept on leading up to an event but nothing really happened until towards the end when it left off with a cliffhanger.

Another thing that bothered me was the fact that it ended so quickly! The last third of the book was two oneshots of a new spin-off series the author is currently working on. I liked the oneshots enough, but it was obvious that it wasn't what I was looking for when I picked up this volume.

One of my favorite things is a reverse harem type of series and this one did not disappoint. The correlation between each of the different boys and their musical instruments was excellent and I loved how music helped to progress the story line along. Hino was such a cute character!

Anime: One of my favorites! I loved all of the music!!!

I liked it very much. The only reasons I didn't give it 5 stars is because 1.) The guy didn't give Kahoko the gift he bought for her after her concert and 2.) he didn't confess his feelings to her. If things had been different, I totally would have given this book 5 stars.^_^

Can't believe there's one more volume after this. This series has been really good. The anime too, though it ended too quickly Glad the manga continues with it and I wonder how its going to end. Love the artwork.
