Guardian, is the first book of The Guardian Trilogy, a Christian fantasy fiction series.
The powerful and imposing Xander/Darcy, Chief of Guardian Angels, has protected exceptional humans from demonic forces over the course of ten millennia without losing a single battle. In 1989, he receives an unusual assignment which will forever change his ordered existence and alter the course of human history. Will he lose the battle for his own heart while guarding supernaturally gifted Elizabeth Bennet from the evil which surrounds her? Will he be strong enough to resist her as she grows from a precocious child into a beautiful, intelligent woman? The veil dividing the physical and spiritual planes is drawn aside to reveal warfare on an unprecedented scale as Elizabeth develops her gifts and her guardian discovers his emotions.
Robin Helm's time revolves around music as she plays and teaches. Her books reflect that love, as well as her fascination with the paranormal and science fiction.
Her latest publication is Lawfully Innocent: A US Marshal Lawkeepers story. Previously published works include The Guardian Trilogy (Darcy is Elizabeth's guardian angel) and the Yours by Design series (Fitzwilliam Darcy switches places in time with his descendant, Will Darcy), Understanding Elizabeth (Darcy must decide how much he's willing to pay to have what he wants), and More To Love (Darcy comments on Elizabeth's weight at the Assembly).
Mrs. Helm is also featured in a series of anthologies with several other like-minded authors. A Very Austen Christmas and A Very Austen Valentine have been Best Sellers on Amazon in several categories. A Very Austen Romance is being planned for February, 2020.
She lives in (usually) sunny South Carolina and enjoys playing the piano, reading, and traveling.

This had all the makings of a 5 star read, yet....
I enjoyed this trilogy and was particularly satisfied that Ms Helm was unashamedly bold in standing by her Christian beliefs. No equivocation or attempts at pandering. This means a lot to this Christian gal (one whose righteousness is but a filthy rag).
Anyway, back to the book. The plot was certainly clever. Xander is a guardian angel who was given charge over Elizabeth; however, he soon became hopelessly in love with her which was distressing, to say the least. But we then learn that nothing God does is ever a mistake, and as the forces of Satan work tirelessly to subvert God’s plans, Xander discovers he and Elizabeth are part of the Christians who must pray to defeat the satanic forces.
Truly riveting.
That said, but for the occasional POC character, this trilogy was completely whitewashed. All the angels (excepting one) were blue/green eyed; likewise the human characters. I kept hoping that Robin would rectify this misstep but alas, it appears racism is well and alive in Christiandom. Hence, the lower rating.
Oh. My. Word. This was not what I had expected! This is an amazing story, which had me thinking and at one point breaking out my Bible to do my own research. Even though this is a fictional story I was fascinated to see how the spiritual world might be at work around us. According to the Bible there is a spiritual battle being fought for us each day. It’s interesting to see the spiritual warfare that goes on in a persons life unseen by human eyes.
What if Elizabeth Bennett was meant for a special purpose? What if she was assigned a special Guardian, an Angel very high up in the realm of Angels?
The beginning of the story is a little heavy laying the ground work for the story. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very interesting. It’s just not a light read. As we watch Elizabeth grow up and become a teenager it’s amazing to watch the battles being fought for her. I really enjoyed the story more when Elizabeth was a teenager and young adult.
Where is Darcy in all this you might ask? He is Xander, Elizabeth’s Guardian, who, when he takes on his human form is called Darcy.
El, as her parents call her, is very intelligent and very gifted musically as well as vocally. Since her existence is very important in ruining the plans Satan has set in play to turn the world further away from God, he wants her dead.
Helm is well versed in all of God’s names and uses them through out the story, changing His name to suit the situation. I like that Scripture is infused all through the book. Helm uses them in chapter breaks as well as weaving them into the story.
This is the first book of a trilogy and it definitely ends with a cliffhanger. The good news is the second book is already out, SoulFire and I’m definitely looking forward to reading it! Helm is currently working on the Legacy, the final book in the trilogy.
Four out of Five Stars (review by guest reviewer Candy Morton)
Once again, Jane Austen's beloved masterpiece is being infiltrated with supernatural beings...although this time instead of violent, un-dead zombies or blood-sucking vampires, Jane Austen's characters are intermingling with guardian angels and heavenly hosts. Setting her story in Spartanburg, South Carolina in the year 1989, author Robin Helm begins The Guardian Trilogy by introducing readers to Xander (Darcy), Chief of all Guardian Angels, as he receives his new and mystifying assignment of protecting the soon-to-be-born Elizabeth Bennet. After spending millenniums as the guardian of countless important and influential people in history, Xander doesn't understand God's purpose in sending him to guard this baby from an unknown and seemingly ordinary family. But God has special designs for Elizabeth Bennet and these plans include his chief guardian angel Xander...
Those who believe, know that a guardian angel is appointed to every follower of Christ. These angels protect their charges from harm and shield them from attacks by Satan and his demons. In this series, angels can read minds and transform into humans if needed– strikingly beautiful and physically perfect humans. They have supernatural physical strength and of course, they can fly. But one thing they don't experience are human emotions like love, anger, jealousy, and pride. While they have the capacity, angels don't always have the impetus to experience these feelings.
This book was really not for me... I'm sure some people will love it, but it was all a bit much for me.
It's an interesting story that starts with the birth of baby Elizabeth Bennet who is identified as an important person in terms of her future influence. We see the little baby starting to grow up and how she is different to others her age. What we are also part of is her guardian angel, and the angels of others, protecting and guiding them from evil.
This is very heavy on bible references and wasn't for me to be honest. I gave up about half way through....
Even though you find books that you want to read right now, you also find other books you want to read but know deep down that you are not really ready yet for the message it contains. You do, however, realize and know when the right time is to finally read it. This is that kind of book! Definitely did disappoint and better than I ever imagined! It's all encompassing! Looking forward to the journey that will lead me to finding out how it all ends!!

I had read a series along these lines many years ago. This was a great reminder that we are not alone. Loved It.
I am a huge fantasy reader and lately I have been reading all the angel/demon books I can get my hands on so this gem from Amazon Kindle was just what I was looking for. This is actually book 1, not book 2.
The book is about a higher angel sent to protect a baby born into a very religious family. The book is full of bible scriptures and good Christian people. I had to look and make sure I had picked fantasy and not religion. Anyway, the writing is pretty good and the story is moderately good. I felt more of a church service through most of it or a story told in children's church/Sunday School. I don't really buy into how this child is going to save the world, when the world was already sent a savior and I certainly don't understand how a parental figure (Xander) who has watched over this child *****SPOILER ALERT******* is going to fall in love with her. I was a little disturbed by this relationship just because he has watched her from a baby to a young adult. It may be normal but my brain does not comprehend it, it would be like me falling in love with a friend of one of my children. I just can't make it ok. If you can get over this it is ok, I didn't hate it.
Wow, this was a surprising excellent story, although, I shouldn't have been surprised, because Robin Helm writes wonderful stories. But, I have to admit I had Prejudice, thinking it might be a bit preachy, but everything was pulled together to make a true Pride/Prejudice/Supernatural story. With an Exceptionally, Blessed Elizabeth Bennet with, A very special Guardian Angel watching over her, as Dark Forces try to eliminate her. Do not be surprised if her Guardian Angel seems suspiciously like a certain Mr. Darcy! I highly recommend this story and I am looking forward to Book 2, in the series. Very Interesting Read.
Xander is the Head of the Guardian Angeles of Heaven. He was there when Lucifer decided to try overthrow Heaven. God has an assignment for Xander that will challenge him in ways he could never image. Lucifer decides to enact a plan to seek revenge against God by having a son to gain revenge and obtain dominion over the place God has made. There is a couple of Believers who have decided after a few years to have a second child. Xander's assignment is watch over this child that is to be born with gifts that come from God himself. Watch as Lucifer tries to abort God's plan on the earth for this child and the Angel that is her protector. Fabulous read that will cause you to smile and have you cheering for Elizabeth aka El. We see into a place where you want to believe the words written about angels that have charge over you and the love of God that is shed towards us. First time reading this author but it will not be my last. Moving on to book 2 as soon as I finish Book 1. Could this be apart of the Battle of good and evil that is happening around us? I can't wait to read the series..

Intriguing! I loved how the author, Robin M. Helm, wove the stories of Fitzwilliam Darcy, and Will Darcy and the two Elizabeths between the 1800 Jane Austen era and modern day era, and yet had them connected through mail passed down and passed up through family lawyers. The story contains a great deal of thought as the author blends the two Darcy characters into a 'time travel warp' where Fitzwilliam is having to establish himself into in a modern day society, and Will has gone back in time to meet up with the 'Jane Austen Elisabeth' and we are at liberty to 'read their thoughts' as the story progresses. Truly interesting and clever. A well-done literary story and I look forward to continue reading this trilogy. Thanks, Robin!
This book is a bit hard for me to review... I did like this book. I liked Xander and the other angels and enjoyed seeing their interactions. I thought it was interesting to see what could be happening in the spiritual realm. I thought the writing was well done too. I guess where I struggled was separating this book into more of a "What if" type of book. I know embellishments needed to be made for the story to work, but still. There were some other things I didn't care for as well thus my lower rating.
A warning to readers: There is a rape scene. It isn't explicit, but it was more than just alluded to.
Also just letting readers know that this book is part of a series so the story was not concluded.
This book was different with the humans and guardians that watch over Christians. As Christians we know there is a battle going on that we cannot see but we don't like to think about it a lot of the time. It took quite a bit of time to get into this book because it took quite a bit of time to set up all of the characters. I was just starting to enjoy it at the end of the book.
Could not put these books down. I know these are fiction, but I think spiritual warfare does go on and these books really make it seem real. Really makes you think. Enjoy.
Although I usually do not like books that use the names of Jane Austen characters but show no connection to the original story (in this case P&P) I am, however, very enthralled with this story. Yes, many of the characters have names from P&P but it is set in modern day USA and the dynamics and personalities are very different. I also do not like to be preached "at" even though I am a Christian and was fearful in reading the Amazon synopsis of the book that it would do just that. BUT I must say Robin Helm does an excellent job. Obviously, Ms. Helms knows her Bible very well and uses it appropriately. I won't go over the story line as many of the previous reviewers lay out the plot very well. I basically read this book in just over one day on my kindle - I couldn't put it down. At times i was weeping throughout the tale. And I kept thinking to myself - how can I convince and who can I convince to read this book? I know others will find this book fascinating. Can't wait to read the others in this series.
