Edward Petrosky joined the Ash Park police force with two goals in mind: escape the military and silence the demons that followed him home from the war. And no one soothes those traumas better than his fiancé, Heather—he doesn't even mind that she has a checkered past of her own.
But his dreams are obliterated when one night, on a routine call, Ed stumbles upon a scene as horrifying as any he’s seen in combat: Heather’s bloody body, half-buried in the snow. Though his superiors order him to stay away from the investigation, Ed can’t help but notice the inconsistencies in Heather’s case—her supposed cause of death doesn’t mesh with what she’s told him about her past.
When another body turns up, Ed realizes that Heather’s murder wasn’t an isolated act of violence; this new victim was connected to the same shelter where Heather volunteered and attended the same church where a kindly priest seems to know more about the murders than he should. And the detectives working the case seem indifferent to these links despite being no closer to finding Heather’s killer.
Now Ed must choose whether to play by the rules or sacrifice his career to seek justice for the woman he was supposed to spend his life with. One thing’s for certain: Ed can’t go down without a fight, because Ed isn’t the only one seeking vengeance.
And in Ash Park, the innocents aren’t always who they appear to be.

Finally read a good book omg 😭 I’ll the books I’ve been reading lately have been so mid :(
I haven’t read the series, and I’m actually not sure if this prequel came before or after the Ash Park series were published, so this is coming from a person that has never read or heard of the Ash Park series before.
The writing is good, getting to know the main character was done very well. I did not expect who the killer was, and I usually am able to pick that out within the first few chapters.
When it comes to murder mystery books, I just mistrust everyone. But that method absolutely did not work, because I did not even think to even CONSIDER this character. I had absolutely 0 inkling.
Good book, would recommend to people who are into murder mysteries.
Fantastic look at the roots and beginnings behind Ed Petrosky, O'Flynn's much beloved, often misunderstood character. Learn the events that shaped him into the detective who has what it takes - if the department lets him.

Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella By: Meghan O’Flynn 5 out of 5 stars
The story Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella by Meghan O’Flynn is a book that I loved reading. I have already read the other stories in the Ash Park series and enjoyed reading another book with the character of Edward Petrosky. This novella is when Ed is a patrol officer. He is in love with his fiancé Heather. Then in one night, his dreams for the future are destroyed when he finds Heather’s bloody body half-buried in the snow. Now pain and grief surround him. Who killed Heather? Why was she killed? When another body is found, one that has a connection to where Heather volunteered her time and to the same church she attended, more questions are raised. Will Ed ignore the rules and sacrifice his career to get justice for Heather? Will the killer be caught? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has twists and turns. There is suspense and I found myself on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Trying to figure out who was responsible for the crimes being committed is like trying to solve a puzzle. I found myself trying to put together the pieces. Ed is a character that is haunted by his past and a character that I could empathize with. He also has a sharp mind and good instincts. There are other characters that are introduced in this story that I also liked reading about. They are helpful to Ed. Then there are those who have their own agenda and don’t care about who is hurt or the consequences. This is a story that will hook you in and won’t let go until you finish it. I would highly recommend reading it.
Reading the Ash Park novels throughout 2018 was the favorite times of my dark twisted little thriller heart. Each and every one was a dirty little secret desire that I devoured and enjoyed way too much. In fact, all of Megan O’ Flynn’s novels do that to me actually. I can always count on her when I need a good twisty dark read.
Now with every book Of her Ash Park series I have left a glowing review saying how flabbergasted I was this woman could top the crazy and the great that was the book before it, but she delivered time and time again, and I was heartbroken when I thought it may have come to an end for the Ash Park stories. So to say I was excited when I saw Salvation pop up on my feed would simply be an understatement. I devoured this packed full 161 page novella in just a few short hours and was left dying for a reread of the the series again! LOL! If you haven’t gone and read them yet, do so, you won’t be disappointed!!
Salvation gives us the up close and personal, the nitty gritty, on Detective Edward Petrosky. He was always a favorite of mine throughout the series but seemed to leave a lot of unanswered questions about why he was the way he was… Well no more questions yall. O’Flynn gives and gives and twists the knife ever so perfectly. Of course I am not going to give to juicy gory details, for those you will have to one-click and devour this gem for yourself. You will fall in love I am sure and find yourself hooked! Thank you for this fantastic series Ms. O’Flynn! I can't wait to see what will come next from you!!
Salvation is the Prequel Novella of Meghan O’Flynn’s Ash Park series. It is pretty crazy how the prequel came out after the whole series was published! I had read the series before I picked up the prequel, I actually picked up the prequel as I had read the series … I could not get enough of the series AND of Meghan’s writing (I have read almost everything she has published!!!). I was really excited to pick up another Edward Petrosky story and I loved getting the deep insight into his past. We had gotten glimpses into it through the series but the novella gives us all! Ed is a patrol officer and he is trying to find his place in the world while trying to escape the demons from his time in the military and … he is in love and to be married, to Heather who has her own demons from her past … one night while out on his shift, he finds her bloody body half-buried in the snow … You can imagine where the story takes us to from here … the twists and turns, the unexpected revelations, the other characters, different clashing agendas even though it should be all about finding the killer as Heather is not the only dead body, just a beginning … it is the story of human nature and vengeance … I warmly suggest you pick up the series, you will not regret, you will be sucked into the dark world of the Ash Park and you do not want to leave!
Meghan O’Flynn’s books are always clever, suspenseful and enjoyable to read, and this is no exception. If you loved the Ash Park series (like I did) and can’t get enough Petrosky, this book will satisfy. If this is your first time reading an Ash Park book, then buckle up because it only gets better (i.e., darker, more hilarious and more shocking) from here.
I loved these insights into Petrosky’s origins, and the characters are outstandingly vivid, as in all the Ash Park books. The same gritty realism and unexpected twists appear here as well. To me, however, the story didn’t seem quite as tightly plotted as O’Flynn’s usual fare, but I still enjoyed the ride. I received an ARC copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Salvation: An Ash Park Novella is the prequel to the brilliant Ash Park Series by Meghan O’Flynn. I have read all of the Ash Park series and thought my wild ‘ride’ might have been over- so I was thrilled to discover this book had recently been released. All through the series, I have reiterated how impressed I am with Ms. O’Flynn’s ability to spin an incredibly clever thriller- and how she also manages to make each new instalment slightly eclipse the previous one. As well as the amount of tension, suspense, shocks, twists, surprises, and puzzling situations that she manages to infuse into each story, has me in awe of her skills- she always has me guessing, with a tight, unpredictable storyline- and delivering heart pounding, stomach clenching, and mind-blowing reading every single time. This book takes us back to the beginning, giving us a different glimpse into the life of Detective Edward Petrosky, and some of the earlier events that shaped the man we know from the rest of the series. I can’t say too much more than what’s already mentioned in the blurb, without giving away spoilers, so do yourself a favour and grab yourself a copy- and get set for a thrilling ride….. with 5 other books in the series to devour, as well! I wonder what Ms. O’Flynn has in store for us next?
Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella (Ash Park 0.5) by Meghan O'Flynn was a nail biting, suspenseful, heart pounding thriller that, had me on the edge of my seat.
Not my first read from this author or in this series. In truth I have read every book in this series, so needless to say when I saw this one I snached it up in a heartbeat. This book takes place well before the main series, so I do suggest reading this first as it will give you a better understand of the lead MC, Petrosky.
Like the others book in this series, Salvation was well written, detailed and emotional. I got to know Petrosky's character very well from the main series, and it was exciting to read about the before. Before he was broken, and before he lost his child that led to his spiral into self hate, alcohol and depression. This book paints that before, as well as the beginning of this multi layered character's downfall.
Overall this book was everything I was hoping it to be and more. Meghan O'Flynn is truly talented at making your skin crawl and smashing your heart into a million pieces. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval that you will be holding your breath as well as, holding onto your shattering heart.
Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella by Megan O'Flynn 5 out of 5 Stars
Edward Petrosky, this man. I swear. Every time I hear his name, little tears start to prick my eyes. This Novella is the back story of Edward. Edward joins the Ash Park Police Force to keep from having to join the military. Too many personal demons to face in the military. One night, working his normal routine at the station. Petrosky gets a call that rocks his world. His fiance, Heather, is found bloody and dead in the snow and he is powerless to do anything for the case. Ordered to say away from the case, Petrosky finds himself slipping away. When additional murders occurs, Petrosky is convinced there is a serial killer on the loose and the Ash Park Police Department is missing the connection between all of them. Edward has a decision to make. Either stay the good solder, keep his head down and maintain the beat, or go against orders, track down the leads, stop the killer and get justice for Heather. I am so glad I read this book. I have loved this character and I wanted to know more about it. A total 5 Star Book!
Salvation:An Ash Park Prequel Novella was a great 5 star read.
Ed is a patrol officer who meets Heather during a prostitution sting. There was something about her that tugged at his heart strings and he ended up falling in love with her.
While out on patrol one night Ed’s whole world gets turned upside down. They come across some men covered in blood, when they search for a victim Ed is shocked at who they find, Heather. Her lifeless body brings Ed to his knees, my heart just broke for him at that moment.
Ed has so many unanswered questions and when another body shows up with some similar connections to Heather things get interesting. Will Ed risk his career to find the killer(s)? Will he get justice for the victims?
Overall this was a great edge of your seat thrilling read. My emotions were all over the place and my heart went out to Ed and the emotions he went through. I had so many thoughts on who the killer could be, I love books that keep you guessing at every turn. All the secondary characters were great. Meghan O’Flynn does a great job of pulling you in with her writing, I look forward to reading more from her.
Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella by Meghan O’Flynn shows us just where the Ash Park series began. When Edward joined the military, he knew what he wanted and needed to calm the things around him and then one night his life comes crashing down when he finds his love, his life Heather killed. Slowly things don't make sense about her murder and when another body is found he then knows that Heathers murder was not an isolated attack. Edward now must take decide if he ruins his career to bring justice to the one he loved and along the way finds he's not the only one who wants justice for these killings.
This Novella was really a way to get into Edward more, and he is a character that has stayed with me since reading the Ash Park series. Being able to read what drove him and his need for justice kept me still wanting more and more. Meghan O’FLynn truly is an amazing story teller, attention to detail, and her words that drag you right into story and don't let you go. She kept me guessing to the very end and again we learn that in Ash Park not everyone is innocent!!! Five stars again!!!
A disappointment, written in what the blurb describes as a “gritty” or “hardboiled” (i.e. sub-noir) style in which everything is unremittingly bleak, from the neighbourhood to the weather to the cast: an underclass of two-dimensional losers. Our anti-hero is a Gulf War vet with some form of PTSD, now serving as an angry and nihilistic beat cop. Ed Petrowsky thinks the worst of everyone, even his love interest. It makes no sense that after months of living together he would presume, wrongly, that the woman he plans to marry and raise children with, is a hooker and drug addict (she is not). Deranged by grief (or just deranged) Petrowsky blunders hither and thither, as bereft of common sense as any familiarity with official police procedure. He suspects everyone, his own beat partner included, even though the culprit has been flagged up to the reader as controlling and suspicious from the get-go.
Edward Petrosky joined the Ash Park police to keep from having to go in the military and to help fight off his own demons. He and Heather, his fiance, are good for each other, even though each one have they're own past issues. Then one night Edward gets a routine call that shatters his world. He sees Heather's body all bloody and in the snow. He is ordered to stay away from this case, but things are not adding up for him. Then there is another murder. Edward is sure there is a serial killer on the loose and the detectives are ignoring the connections between the two murders. There is also priest that knows more about these killings than he really should. Edward has a decision to make, go against his orders of staying out of it, or getting justice for Heather. Either way, it will be a fight for Edward and one he is not willing to lose!
Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel is outstanding. I have read all of the books and I can tell you each book builds and builds to the final word. Meghan O’Flynn is a master mind with the thriller, mystery, suspense, twists, and everything else she wants to put into her story. I loved how I felt I was inside the story right there with Detective Edward Petrosky and rode the emotional roller coaster he is on. This story is where it all begins. So I highly recommend reading this book first. I learned about the characters in this story which gave great insight for the Detective Edward in the other books. I am afraid if I keep talking I will give spoilers and that would not be good for anyone. So sit down, grab your most comfortable blanket, get tissue, and settle in to start with Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel.
Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella By Meghan O’Flynn 5 stars
Having read some of the others books in this series and then Salvation I have to say it absolutely sets the story! I didn’t mind that I read this book after the others because it really was a brilliant read. The author has a really great engaging writing style that pulls you in straight away. I loved finding out a little bit more about Ed too and I think it helped me appreciate him more when thinking about him in the other books in the series. If you have read any of the books in this series then this is a must read and if you haven’t then absolutely start with this book first – the author sets a suspenseful scene with Salvation! It is only a short read but it is jammed packed full of action, suspense and mystery. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and recommend it 100%!!
Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella by Meghan O'Flynn. This series is amazing! Oh Ash Park how I love you! This is the start of the Ash Park Series and it finally gives us some back story to our beloved Edward Petrosky. He joined the Ash Park Police as a Detective to escape the military and his mind. His fiance Heather is his saving grace until he stumbles upon her body half buried in the snow. He's forbidden to work the case but when another body is found Ed knows there are similarities. Does he risk the career he loves or does he just let the other detectives work the case being no closer to finding out who has done it and risking another body being found.. The other detectives aren't as sure as Ed is about their being similarities in the two cases and they are working nearly as fast as he would like. If you have loved the Ash Park series as much as me, read this book! Its awesome!
Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella by Meghan O'Flynn is where it all started; Where we find out just what makes Petrosky who he is in the follow books in the series that are both enthralling and compelling. The Ash Park series is dark in nature as it follows the life of cops and detectives as they race against time to bring killers in and justice for the victims. Meghan is very good at these types of stories and they wouldn’t be the stories they are without the twist and turns she throws your way that you certainly don’t see coming until you are right on top of them. It shows a humanity at its worst. It shows Petrosky’s journey through love and hate, pain and doubts, but nothing is better than finding the truth and vengeance for the one you loved and lost far to soon. It was great to see why he became who he did.
He loved her. She caught his eye and his heart all in the same night. He believed her and in her. Until the night it all fell apart. All of his dreams, his reality shattered. Who was she? Did she lie? Was any of it real? Ms O'Flynn does it again. Adding to a series of books each a standalone but a read so good it will have you flipping from the first page. Nothing s what it seems and everyone is suspect. They all have secrets and he's gonna have to dig through them all to get to the truth. This author gives us a story which will twist you inside and out and leave you spinning. When you think you have it figured out she will flip the script again. I love this author's books and her characters. You don't know if the one you love is the one who is the good/bad guy til it's over.
So thrilling that I can’t wait to read more! Salvation is the Prequel novella to the Ash Park Series by Meghan O’Flynn. Now, I read the series prior to reading this novella and it explains so much! This prequel is based on Edward Petrosky. Petrosky is the lead detective in the Ash Park serial killings, only this time it’s about him. His wife is found dead and he is on the one who finds her. We also learn about his reasoning’s for joining the police force. Being former military, it can be difficult to unsee things. We learn quite a bit about Detective Petrosky throughout the series but this really sums him up and at the same time sets up the series. This novella give us a basis for why he is the way he is and why he fights so hard to find out who the Ash Park Serial Killer is.
Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella By Meghan O'Flynn
I have read all the books in the Ash Park series and they were wonderful twisted stories. I was so excited when this one came out, and I'm glad to know I wasn't disappointed. The author did another amazing job weaving suspense into her story and I loved getting to know Petrosky better. This book gave me more backstory into the horrific and heartbreaking things that Petrosky has been through and what makes him who he has become. I was sucked into this story from the beginning and on the edge if my seat throughout. The ending completely caught me off guard and I wouldn't expect anything less from this exceptional author. This is a definite must read!! I give this book 5 stars and highly recommend this book
Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella by Meghan O'Flynn 4 Stars!!!!
This is the prequel to the Ash Park series and I have to say that I enjoyed the chance to get to see the beginning of Petrosky's story. This book really helps set up the series. I found that the author has a unique style and brings the characters to life. I couldn't put this book down.
I really like the opportunity to see what helped to mold Petrosky into the detective and man he became. I found this book to be a real good addition to the series and helps to really put things in perspective. I really found myself going through the emotions as Petrosky does experiences them. I found that the twists in this book really add to the intrigue and drama. I would definitely read more from this author in the future.
SALVATION AN ASH PARK PREQUEL NOVELLA by MEGHAN O’FLYNN
Four Stars
This is the beginning of all the madness. We find out how Petrosky ticks. You will finally understand him a little better. The romance in this story was interesting. It wasn’t a slow burn or something quick. It was simple and uncomplicated. The author did an amazing job building you up to let you down. The story was easy to follow and a quick read. Heather made me wonder about her the whole time. The details were too few and plain. There were no witnesses and no family to push for justice. Overall this is a great start. The mystery surrounding everyone keeps you hooked into the story. You want to find out what happened and why. That’s the authors secret weapon.
5 Star Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella by Meghan O'Flynn is a wonderfully written suspenseful book that I couldn't put down once I started reading. I absolutely loved The Ash Park Series and was very excited about this Prequel. This is the where Edward joins The Ash Park police department, where he gets called out on a call that will change his life forever. This book is no different than the series, pulls you in and you lose all concept of time and everything else. There are some twists and turns that had me on the edge of my seat trying to figure out what happens next. Edward has a choice to make, find the murderer who took the love of his life away or just back down off the case. What will he do? This is a definite must read.i can't wait to read more from this Author.
I really enjoyed learning some of Edward Petrosky's back story while at the same time trying to figure out "who done it". I was shocked when the culprit was revealed as they had never entered my Suspects List. However, there is still a huge gap in the life of Detective Petrosky, as he is known in Famished, the first book of the Ash Park series. There he is portrayed as a detective with an attitude (and possibly drinking) problem, since the unsolved murder of his fifteen-year-old daughter followed by the breakdown of his marriage a month later. That is a massive hole in the character of a person so central to the story. If I have missed a book, I would love for the author to enlighten me.
This novel gives great backstory to Ed Petrosky who is actually one of my favorite character in the other Ash Park novels. Meghan O'Flynn portrays him in his younger days in the novel and reveals to the reader events that greatly make his character unique in her other novels. I can't believe all the heart ache he had to endure in this novel. My heart broke with his whole reading. The ending of this novel definitely surprised and shocked me. I also loved getting to know Linda's character in this novel. It is an excellent addition to the Ash Park Series.
Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella by Meghan O’Flynn is a five star novel. I love that this author has taken us back to the beginning with Ed Petrosky so that we could see exactly how he turned out the way he did later in life. We are taken on a journey of discovery when Ed’s girlfriend, Heather is murdered. The other detectives in the office thinks that she is not worthy of figuring out what happened to her but Ed can’t get the bloody images out of his dreams. He knows he needs to figure out what happened and he never expected the dark and twisty road his work would take him down. This book was a page turner and I could not put it down!
Salvation: An Ash Park Prequel Novella by Meghan O’Flynn Five Stars

It will give you an early life perspective of Edward Petrosky, who is featured heavily in the Ash Park books. This is another great example of of Meghan O’Flynn’s superb writing. This book is full of twists and turns, and even though I want to say more, I’m not going to give any spoilers away. I highly recommend this book, series and author to everyone who loves a great mystery/thriller.
This prequel follows a young, new to the force Detective Petrosky as he seeks justice in a deeply personal case. Fans of the Ash Park series will enjoy this glimpse in to how Petrosky became the man we all love, no matter how cranky he gets. Those new to Ash Park will get a taste of O'Flynn's dark, twisty mysteries that will make them sure to buy the whole series next. This story is suspenseful, shocking, and sad, but also funny with a touch of hopefulness. It's a quick read that I would recommend to any mystery fan.
Salvation by Meghan O'Flynn is an Ash Park prequel. This was a quick read and was a great way to tell the backstory of Ed Petrosky. I have enjoyed the entire Ash Park series and this was a great addition. This can be read before the rest of the series or as I did after the fact. This is full of suspense and intrigue. The story tells the backstory of Ed and how he deals with the murder of his fiancee. She is not the lone victim of a killer and Ed has to figure out what is going on before the killer strikes again. If you enjoy good suspense that keeps you reading this is a great book to read.
