2.5 Rounded Up

Charlotte and Dash's story comes to an end. I've had a rollercoaster of liking and disliking this series. I wish more of a plot would have been created rather than just Dash and Charlotte constantly saying how they couldn't be apart. He's jealousy and need to control/keep her safe went overboard. It would have been a lot more sweeter (and better for his character development) if he would have trusted her more, and trusted the people around him.

Dash against the world and all that.

Now the Forsaken/zombies...I wish more would have been explained. How was the Institute using their blood to make others immortal? Why when Star was made immortal and lost her humanity was Ryker able to "wake her up" with a kiss? Also, once Charlotte woke the Forsaken what happened to them? There are a lot of questions here, but the ending came quick.

I also was extremely confused by Ember, Charlotte's Father, and her Mother. Was her Mother evil too? Ember never felt evil and her twist to the dark side seemed a little forced. Her dad honestly never felt like a villain either. We were constantly told how evil they were and what they had done but was never shown. The Institute really just reminded me of Xavier's school from X-men.

So even though I pretty much enjoyed the series I was mainly underwhelmed and wish more substance was in the book other than Dash and Charlotte kissing and saying how much they loved and needed each other.

Despite all this the author has a clear voice and her books are easy to read. There's one other series by her that I've had my eye on and I do plan on reading it.

I really wanted to enjoy the last book, because I enjoyed the two that came before it. However, it felt like the ending was a little rushed. The epic final battle fizzled to a halt very quickly with Charlotte miraculously becoming a huge vat of endless power and then we fast forward to a happy ending. There are no conclusions to the loose end that is Dash's family and we don't get to figure out what happened to Ember and Charlotte's mother. The audience is just sort of left with a quickly tied up bow, which is quite sad because I felt like there were a lot of missed opportunities that I kept reading to find out about. All in all, it was a fun series but fell flat for me towards the end.

I really enjoyed this series. As a big fan of paranormal romance. I love Dash and Charlotte. They were super sweet and cute. At times they got a little corny, but it was just too cute not to like. This story started with a great adventure and ended with more adventures. This story is not only full of love, but friendship to last a lifetime. This was a such a joy to read and I recommend it to any paranormal romance lovers out there.

I'm like, I'm glad she "became one with herself" but like, why did it have to end that way? WHY?! I totally ran downstairs, threw myself on my sisters bed, and screamed at her all that had happened and burst into tears.
Great book, though, really.

Everything I Wanted In A Conclusion

What a ride. The conclusion to this series was everything that I wanted. With Charlotte’s visions the reader was able to see what her future will look like with Dash now that they are done running.
This book seems to have everything. Romance, adventure, danger, powers, why not add zombies to the list? I loved the whole concept of the Forsaken. They may have been zombies, but all they wanted was to live or finally die. What’s amazing is seeing how Charlotte factors into the story. Her powers are what saves the day. I mean, I knew that already going into the 3rd book, but finally understanding how that would work was something else.
Dash and Charlotte. Forever bickering, but never not loving each other. Even when Charlotte seems to attack danger like “flies to shit” and Dash has to save her. Again.
This series took me on a very crazy ride, and I’m sad to see it end. But knowing Dash and Charlotte can finally stop running makes it all better.

Predictable & Long winded

I had high hopes for the third book as the other two were pretty good. The constant desperation and romance was a bit much, and never really explained the connection between the two characters or why their connection was more important than anything else.

Then with this book it was completely obvious what was going to happen and honestly it should have been obvious to the characters as well with what Charlotte could do, but instead it felt like the whole process was dragged out and the characters coming across at being so dim and shorted sighted.

The idea of the book is great, can't say I have heard of a world like this before, but just a shame the last book had to fall flat in my opinion. I think less focus on the cringe romance and more on the world itself would have been much better, as there was still a lot of stuff not explained or understanding of the mist anyways.

What a wonderful series! If you haven't read the first 2 books, then I suggest that you do! So that you will know what's going on! J.L. Weil is a wonderful author! She brings her stories to life as you are reading them! I feel like I'm a part of the story. I just wish sometimes that I would have such a vivid imagination and a gift for words like she does! Love this author!
I don't like Charlotte's father. He only thinks about what he wants to happen and doesn't care what might happen to Charlotte. I love Dash cause he says what he thinks and doesn't care what anyone but Charlotte thinks or does. Charlotte doesn't want to kill anyone much less kill the Forsaken. What will happen when the Forsaken comes after Charlotte? Will she kill them or find a way to save them?

Good story but the ending fell flat to me and as well the epilogue. The battle was very short and not detailed enough to be a final battle scene. Next is that what happened to Charlotte's and Ember's mother? Where was she in this? Ember should have tried to attack them and then ran away when she was lost or on the losing side.

To me, the epilogue should have been set in three times, a few weeks after the battle, when charlotte is telling Dash about her being pregnant and then two years after the mirror scene from early in the book, cave of mirrors. With a twist on the last one, with her being pregnant again.

That is what would have done, but that was just me. Overall, the trilogy was good.

I enjoyed the action, on the edge of your seat twists and turns, almost everyone having magical powers, and many more things.

The swearing and many F-bombs I skipped over, not a fan. This author has a way of writing and pulls you in but I'm not reading any more books with the F-bomb in it.

I was also confused in spots with Charlotte's mom and wondering how she felt in the story. Her parent's were scientists. The dad was really into the science part with making people mortal by killing innocent people to make immortality work. You find out in the end of the book about that. Her mom seemed like she wanting to help people. I'm not sure because her mom is hardly in the story.

Hoping for one more short story to wrap up the series

I love the mix of fantasy and dystopian and it was fun to have a little bit of fairytale mixed in there. The final book was an exciting and bittersweet end to the series, but I am totally dying to know what happened with Ember. I think a short story from Ember’s perspective on where she ends up and when she finally crosses paths with Dash & Charolette would be the perfect way to wrap everything up and give us some closure!

Forsaken

Good book. This whole series was unique. This author seems to have a lot of good ideas. This book ended the series pretty well. Seemed a bit rushed and a little anti-climatic though. Most things were covered, but really could have used more details on some things. Charlotte and Dash were great together. Charlotte was a very good main character. These characters all came to life. Good job.

The highly anticipated conclusion!! Action-packed and blood pumping! Loved it!! If even possible I love Dash ever more lol I enjoyed how the story played out with all its twists and turns there were a couple loose ends that weren’t tied up so maybe they’ll be a spin off in the future?

I love this whole series. The only thing that I can say is that I wish the author would have written one more book. I feel like there are some storylines that can still use some development. I love the story, I just wish there was more.

Awesome finale! Great action, beautiful romance and Charlotte and Dash have a very cute love story. Love the final battle and I'm a little sad it's over. Shame Dash had to kill her father but it needed to end. Loved it!

Disappointed

This series was too predictable. Not a good read for an adult. Too many cheesy phrases etc. The idea was good but Wells needs to mature her style.

Toxic zombies have walked out of the mist. Charlotte can't control her powers and keeps losing consciousness. The Slayer made a deal to save the girl he loves and now he and Charlotte, the girl with the rainbow eyes are back in the Diamond Towers, the Institute, back in her father's reach. Her father may want to use her powers, her mother may want to experiment on her, and her sister may want to kill her but Dash will keep her safe. It only takes a short time once they are back for Charlotte to understand that her father must be stopped; that maybe he's a worse threat to humanity than the zombies. Love, trust, and kindness are what is needed in this newly awakened world but war is the only way to make the needed changes for a better tomorrow. Charlotte with Dash and Ryker by her side will lead the way. Charlotte will have the future she's dreamed of or die fighting for it.

Forsaken is the fantastic conclusion to the dystopian world that awakened after the mist. This is an adventure like no other but in the end, Charlotte and Dash's love for one another is what I enjoy most. It's a great story, full of non-stop suspense and action. Trust is the most precious commodity and putting it in the wrong person (or sometimes even the right one) can get you killed. Faith and hope are equally dangerous. Yet Charlotte never gives up. No matter how clear her parents and sister make their intentions, she always hopes that they could be saved. She believes that the zombies could possibly be saved. She believes that Ryker will always have her back and can make her laugh. But most of all she believes in Dash. No matter what trouble comes for her, Dash will be there to keep her safe. He loves her, she loves him. Sometimes it's just that simple. Two people finding one another and doing everything to stay alive and make the world right around them.

The character growth in this book is wonderful. Charlotte and Dash each evolve so much. Their strength and resilience give other's hope. Their love is so strong it dominates each page. The battle is fierce and the outcome believable. Not everyone gets their HEA but not everyone deserved one! I loved the ending and loved even more that we got a vision of the future.

What a phenomenal conclusion to an amazing series! It was a beautiful conclusion with a good dose of romance and action.

Dash and Charlotte were a great couple in this novel. I loved how both of them grew over the course in the series, but in this novel they really changed and had so much development. Charlotte is an amazing heroine. I loved her spunk and snark. But, her vulnerable side in this novel is amazing. I love how she has to go through a lot of trials to truly understand reality and comes to embrace her destiny. Charlotte isn’t a Mary Sue and that was awesome. Yes she is super powerful, but the girl actually has the brains and brawl to conquer and make tough choices.

Dash is such a sweet heart. I just wanted a real life version of Dash. He is so sweet and caring. I love how he sores on Charlotte. He is always there for his girl and supports her. But in his own way he is strong and unique. His banter between Charlotte was hilarious and his remarks made me laugh. Dash definetly made this book a plus.

The secondary characters were a great addition. I loved seeing what happened to Ember and Charlottes family. The way each characters intention was revealed but you couldn’t predict was awesome.

The romance is honestly my favorite part of the book. The chemistry between Dash and Charlotte made the page sizzle. The kissing scenes were out of this world plus the other stuff. I also liked the maturity Charlotte and Dash had as a couple. They had healthy relationship and communicated. There was no excess drama and I loved how they became even closer through all the turmoil.

The world building is amazing. I love how we get to see how truly evil the Forsaken are. I also liked how the Institute is super evil and the main villain in the novel added so much. The fight scenes were well executed with plenty of suspense. And, the unique take on dypstopia was truly one of kind.

All in all, this is an amazing novel. This novel is a great conclusion to an amazing series. I can’t recommend this book enough.

Whew! Okay…let me catch my breath, because wow. First, this series has been amazing from the very first book. I love Charlotte, and Dash as they navigate what has become of the world they once knew, learn how and who to trust, face heart breaking betrayals and pure evil. Over the course of the series, as a reader I love how Charlotte grows throughout the books, learns her powers and who to trust. In “Forsaken” though, everything comes to a head and Charlotte is exactly who and what she needs to be. The romance between her and Dash feels so real that it leaps off the pages and becomes a palpable, living, breathing love. It gives you hope. Like the other two in the series, this book is action packed and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I was afraid to blink in case I missed something. Seeing Charlotte and Dash conquer, and the overall badassery that is Charlotte is so worth the read. Excellent series that does not disappoint and will keep you enthralled until the very end. My only regret is that it is finished, but that is the beauty of rereads ;-)

I was so ready to read this book and see how the series ended. I have always loved the premise of this series and loved seeing how much Charlotte had grown even in this novel. Dash has always been one of my favourite characters and this book definitely had more about their relationship which was really interesting to see.

I loved seeing more of Ryker and still have so many questions for him! It was cool to be back at the heights and to see more from some of the other characters Ember is still a tricky one.

I think the plot was good it went along nicely though I do wish it focused more of other things as I do still think I have a lot of questions at the end of this series. Their was definitely a lot more action too which was great to see both Dash and Charlotte in action. A lot of twists and turns that made this a interesting book.

One of the main reasons I can't give this 5 stars is the series doesn't feel finished at all so really hope this author decides to revist this world,
