Kate Kelley is a writer of Fantasy--all kinds. She spends her days gingerly avoiding plot holes and writer's blocks while four beautiful children and one hunky husband annoy her. And she says that with love.
I love how each book in this series picks up right where the other one has left off. The reader can easily feel for Lyra, the heroine of the story, as she can’t seem to catch a break. If her love interest isn’t playing hard to get, or leading her on, or turning her away, she’s worrying about other problems, such as being captured by the evil protagonist, Ganameed so that he can breed with her. Ganameed needs to sire a child and Lyra seems to be the only woman who can withstand the pregnancy. It is only a heartfelt tragedy that has her deciding to give herself up to him and go along with his plans. It isn’t until later when she comes to realize that she made a mistake. Now to find the strength to fight to free herself from her imprisonment. This is easily a new favorite series of mine and one that I will continue to re-read many times. It’s packed with action, mystery, fantasy, romance. It’s fast paced and hard to put down. It also has an ending that you just have to read for yourself to see how awesome it really is.
I enjoyed the beginning of the book, there was a nice build up of tension and then I don't know what happened. I felt like the situation with Iris was unnecessary, and was there to build more drama in the relationship when more drama was not needed. The ending was boring, there were far better moments in the book for Tirren to stand up for the relationship. It was like the writer didn't know what to do to get after the bad guy was sorted and needed to fill some pages. I would still recommend the series, it was entertaining but left me feeling meh!
