The latest in the Matt Drake series takes us on another rollercoaster ride with non-stop action from the first chapter. Matt and his team have earned some much needed downtime in London, cataloguing the weapons of the gods, when someone snatches the US President while he is in London to open the new US embassy. The team are in different locations when they get a call from Karin telling them they are under attack, but is the call too late for some?

A massive army of mercenaries is hunting the team down as the same time as the President is snatched, making their job even harder, but the team is resourceful, they rally and are soon on the trail of the President. What follows is a rollicking adventure we go from London to Paris, nipping at the heels of the kidnappers, all the time getting closer, but this new adversary is clever and always manages to be a step ahead. Matt and his friends are facing their most dangerous mission yet. Who is the new Blood King? Will they all escape with their lives?

I must admit, I have a bit of a crush on Matt Drake, and have followed him faithfully around the world for 19 books now, yet the series is as sharp as ever and I can't wait until number 20. If you want non-stop action and to spend a couple of hours not breathing, David Leadbeater is your guy. The series needs to be read in order, but I can't recommend it highly enough.

The Blood King Legacy (Matt Drake Book 19) - a review by Rosemary Kenny

The original Blood King was Dmitri Kovalenko, slain by Matt Drake during a stunning climax to a SPEAR Team operation. Now his son, Luka, has taken up his father's reign of terror, eliminating enemies within his father's empire and gradually taking back control from those who would have muscled in on it and sent Luka to an early grave to join his father. Helped by his father's chief assassin to rebuild his power base and seize control, Luka now has a trained army of killers and the SPEARs and in particular Drake himself are his prime targets, as is President Coburn of the US and all of them, their loved ones and friends are in grave peril.Even former members of the Team like Karin Blake, their IT and comms expert, are targeted...where will the carnage of the Blood King's legacy vendetta end?Grab your copy of The Blood King Legacy, Book 19 in David Leadbeater's Matt Drake series as soon as you can - you'll want to read them all (in order of course)!

Another great adventure with the Spear team!

Mr. Leadbeater is one of my favorite authors. If you like non stop action, great characters, a fast pace storyline then this author is who you need to be reading. If you have never read any of his books then you are missing out. I can not recommend his books enough!
This story was a fast and deadly ride. This is a prime example why you kill the bad guys whole family. This story had it all, death, destruction, heartache, humor, sadness. Let’s just hope in the next book the gang can finally put down the Evil son of the Blood King and rescue their friends.

This is a fight for life or death

The spear team have never fought so hard not only to save them selves the team but the president of the USA and his family unfortunately some where lost one was saved and 4 are captured. The blood kings son is all out for vengeance he wants the whole spear team dead he will stop at nothing to get what he wants and cares naught for the lives of his men there are loads of twists and red herrings in this book and The author holds the key (no pun intended) to all the answers I highly recommend thus book

I wanted to like this book but.....

It never caught my interest. Maybe if I had read earlier episodes I might have found the characters interesting but I simply did not care about any of them. I found the plot uninteresting and plodding. Then another pet peeve of mine, the ploy of a seemingly insecure author as the story ends but there are unresolved issues so one has to purchase the next book to discover what happens....it didn't work here as I don't care.

Another great adventure from D.L.

I have this book 5🌟 for the full on nature of the storyline. Exactly what I've come to expect from David. He keeps you engrossed in the storyline from start to finish. Spear have been in lots of sticky situations but is one going to finish them. Roll on next book and we find out of they survive the mayhem that is ahead of them.

An assault on the senses!!

This book is an edge-of-your-seat, action-packed full-on assault! Just plain awesome. Far better than a few of the more recent Drake books where it seemed that the author had slowed things down to the point where I was considering cutting my losses ...... Which of the other Leadbeater series is going to replicate Drake 21??

In true Matt Drake e this starts at full speed and never slows down, the team are having some well earned R & R well all hell breaks loose and no one knows who is causing all the mayhem and why. Will they all live to see another day who knows not even them. Brilliant David and looking forward to the next

Woa!

I feel battered, bruised, and dissatisfied. Dissatisfied because I finished this book too quickly and because I have to wait for the next one in January. For those of you who haven't yet, please read all David Leadbeaters books and enjoy the adventure. Roll on January.

Best of the series

Of all the unbelievable adventures this group
has fought through, this seemed the most
realistic. Sadly, I think it was the jolt from the losses
that did it. Looking forward to the new wrinkles promised
for this great series.

Another fast paced read.

Ledbetter just keeps cranking these out. Fun plots keep you guessing what will happen next. There's always a hook for the next book.
Only glitch in this one is an American kid calling Mum instead of Mom. So British.

Non stop action as team SPEAR return, as does the Blood King, set upon revenge and leaving a path of destruction. Good book as ever, the pace never lets up, as the team race to save the president and stop this new threat.

A bit off a sad one

Some of the team do not make it in this book. At one point I thought that none would survive? This book is the first part so what will be the fate of Mat Drake and co..
