Wrong Question, Right Answer is book three in The Bourbon Street Boys series by Elle Casey. This book was generously provided to me in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley, Montlake Romance, and by Elle Casey.

I loved the first two books in this series. Actually, I believe I’ve loved every single book I’ve read of Elle’s. I have to say that I believe this book is completely different then the first two of the series. The humor is still there, the wonderful characters, but I’ve said before that whenever I wake up in the morning and the first thing that pops into my mind is the characters of the book I was reading the night before, I know there is something special about that book. And, that is exactly what happened with this book!



We met Toni Delacourte in the both of the previous books and got to know her as the dark, somewhat mysterious and angry co-worker of The Bourbon Street Boys. We know she has a dark past and the only person she shares with is her boss, Ozzie. This entire book is told from her point of view. What we didn’t know is that Toni and Lucky have known each other since they were kids. Neither of them had good home lives so they and Toni’s big brother formed a little group of their own. What Toni didn’t realize is that Lucky had a crush on her and ten years ago, he braved a kiss. But Toni didn’t want to take the chance of destroying what they had. She simply couldn’t lose that. So she never allowed it to happen again. Instead she hooked up with Charlie and began a five year abusive relationship.



Circumstances and several alcoholic beverages help Lucky and Toni to take a new turn to their relationship. Both are forced to face the feelings they have for one another they have suppressed since they were kids.



First, I want to say that I am totally in love with Lucky. This guy had me swooning all over the place. He is hilarious. He is so gorgeous that he grows a beard to try to diminish his handsomeness. But Toni has to admit it doesn’t help. Nothing can make him less gorgeous. He also has something in his past that keeps him from being completely happy. Together, can these two find a way to move forward and leave the past behind? Until they truly do, how can they ever be a couple?



We get quite a bit of May from the first book in this one and her relationship with Toni. I loved May so much and she was just as amazing in this book. I loved how their friendship evolved in this one. Really, this book could be called the evolution of Toni. She went through so much and I so loved who she finally allowed herself to be.

You could read this book as a stand alone but I really encourage you to start at the beginning and meet May and Ozzie first. Then the second book is about May’s sister, Jenny, and Dev. This one will mean so much more if you have previously met the other members of their team. There was just something about this book, though, that sticks. That really made me feel things for the characters. Lucky is just so amazing. If you read this, you’ll see what I mean. He’s one of those impossible not to love guys. So, if you haven’t already, start with book one and meet The Bourbon Street Boys. I hope you love them as much as I have. Thanks to Elle Casey for another wonderful, heart warming, funny, romantic book. You…are…amazing!

While Lucky would totally earn 5 stars all by himself, Toni just didn't do it for me. I get that she has the tough persona to maintain but sometimes it comes off as trying too hard. I thought I would get more insight into a justifiable reason for her to be the way she is with other people but I honestly don't feel I got that. I understand that she got with a "bad boy" purposely and the final outcome of that toxic relationship, but they "why" was never really unveiled. If the flimsy excuse that was mentioned is supposed to stand in as reason, then it makes absolutely no sense. Lucky, I loved. His heart was so damn genuine and sweet that more than once I wanted to smack his girl Toni for being so blind and petty. He takes their changing situation in stride and does his best to deal with the surly Toni while experiencing his own emotional growth. I was happy to catch up with the rest of the Bourbon Street Boys and am looking forward to reading about Thib's fall : ) ... Hopefully to a heroine that is the antithesis to Toni. Safety: No OW/OM/Sharing. No condoms. No rape. History of physical abuse.

We are back in the land of the Bourbon Street gang, with this book being the 'tough girls' Toni's go at a story.
Toni in the first two books was pretty prickly, she didn't like either one of the girls because..well they kinda did act like air heads. (The first one was so very fun.)
With this book we are finally going to find out some of her secrets about why she is so closed off.

*Maybe kinda spoilery-but it's told towards the beginning of the book.*

Toni had been in an abusive relationship and finally reached that point where she had enough and took things into her own hands.

She ended up going to prison for it and then joined the Bourbon Street boys and cleaned up her act.
Lucky (another member) has always been in Toni and her brother's lives, she even had a crush on him when she was younger.

Now the gang goes out and Toni has way too many Long Island Iced Teas and ends up getting into an argument with Lucky. He is determined to see her home.
Stuff happens.


Now for these two to have grown up supposedly being really street smart, they make some really, really stupid choices.

The book, for me, did head down the road of being completely unbelievable in how their relationship progressed. Then the whole thing with the 'bad guys' plot kinda got dropped and shoved back into the story near the end. Not good.
I did get some more of May in this book and I do love that character; and this one is better than the second book..so 3 stars.

Ever since May landed on the scene, surprising all of the Bourbon Street Team with her unorthodox, yet effective talents - in particular, hog-tying the disapproving Toni - I’ve been waiting for Toni’s story.

It’s been slowly revealed over the past two books that Toni had a dark history that included an abusive relationship and prison time. In Wrong Question, Right Answer, we got to see all of the underlying and crippling guilt Toni held that was masked by a tough, standoffish and take no shit attitude. Throughout the story, I kept wanting to reach out to her and shake her out of her clearly distorted thinking. She had been systematically programmed to take on guilt and blame when anyone looking on could clearly see none was warranted.

“The question is, does Lucky need saving? And am I the right person for the job?”

Lucky, team member and friend since childhood, had his own demons. I found Lucky’s guilt over his sister to be heartbreaking. I can’t even imagine the strength it would take to move past something like that. I loved the healing Toni was able to bring to Lucky, despite her constant pushing away. I was rooting for them at every turn.

I also enjoyed the continuing evolution of Toni and May’s working relationship/friendship. Two polar opposites, they really worked together as a team. I found May’s ability to get beneath Toni’s defences amusing and loved how she took Toni’s resistance with a grain of salt.

“Seconds later, her attention is on something else. “Look! Hookers.”

She lifts her camera and shoots off a few frames. When she’s done, she takes a look in her viewfinder and smiles. “She’s actually really pretty. Did you see her legs? Gorgeous. I wish I had legs like that.” She sighs.

I snort. “You’d need a set of testicles to have those legs.”

I got really annoyed when Toni came up with her “brilliant” solution to move past her guilt. Anyone, except for Toni apparently, could see this decision would not end well. I suppose it needed to happen to allow Toni to finally see things clearly. I found the whole situation stressful and was glad when Toni came out the other side with an adjusted outlook.

And can I just say that Milli and Vanilli were my favourite part of the story!!!

I wasn’t sure I’d like this book as much as the first two in the series, because the main character was someone I didn’t think was as endearing in the first half of the series.

But I was wrong. This book was just as sweet and funny as the first two, but with a surprising amount of depth and tough, real-life scenarios thrown in.

Toni, our narrator and protagonist for this particular story, is nothing like the two sisters who were her predecessors. Or at least, she doesn’t think she’s anything like them. They’re soft, not to mention nosy and hyper and happy and girly, and they drive Toni nuts. Especially Meg, who is about to marry Toni’s best friend, Ozzie. Toni, on the other hand, would rather punch you in the throat than share her “feelings” with anyone. She’s a strong, independent woman who don’t need no man, and she’ll happily kick your ass if you suggest otherwise.

Between the changes currently plaguing her team and the upcoming anniversary of the day that ruined her life, Toni just needs a drink. Turns out, so does Lucky, Toni’s coworker and childhood friend and long-time crush. He has an upcoming anniversary of his own to suffer though, and the impending death of his goldfish is just making things worse. Their drunken, angsty selves give into temptation, but totally forget to use protection. Suddenly, we have a knocked-up Toni and a freaked-out Lucky. Hilarity ensues.

I didn’t think I liked Toni as a character, because she was so darn prickly in the first two books. But getting inside her head and learning more about her past completely changed my opinion of her. This is a woman who has been through the wringer, who has killed a man and served her time for it, but who can’t escape the guilt and the demons that guilt brings with it. She thinks she’s a terrible person who will hurt anyone who gets to close, so she keeps everyone at arm’s length for their own good. And as for kids, they all seem to hate her and she believes that she would be a horrible mom, so she vows to never have any. Obviously, all of her plans and promises to herself go out the window after her night with Lucky.

Lucky is a sweetheart who is swamped with guilt. His much younger sister committed suicide nearly two years ago, and he blames himself. All he has left of her is her goldfish, Sunny. But fish don’t live forever, no matter how often you take them to the vet. What is he going to when Sunny isn’t around anymore? Together, these two broken people work through their pain and start to heal, vanquishing the demons of their past to make room for their future.

This book was still incredibly funny like the rest of the series. There were certain parts that had me laughing too hard to keep reading (pub bathroom scene!). But it also had so much pain and heartache and struggle. I appreciated the added depth here, and that the humor was still definitely present. The Bourbon Street Boys are starting to feel like family, and I’m so glad I’m getting to know them.

HOLY COW!



I must say that I was a little skeptical about diving into this book. (Elle Casey, why did I doubt you?) I have read the previous two books in the series, and Toni was never my favorite. This book had been chilling on my kindle for about 2 weeks before I decided to just give it a shot.

Antoinette Delacourte. Toni. Criminal gone Bourbon Street Boys. Damaged yet a total #bossassbish.

We first see Toni waiting for the gang in the bar, when she is approached by a “Skip.” And I just knew she was going to have to this sour attitude for the whole book. WHAT ABOUT THE GOLDEN RULE, TONI?! She knocks Skip down on his ass and I was waiting for her to fall into his arms. *gag*

You see, I didn’t read the description. I judged this book – hard. So you can image my surprise when Lucky strolls in and Toni softens. Weird… And while he is trying to keep her from self-destruction, she mentions a kiss that they shared in junior high. WHAAAAAT? I stopped and went to go read the blurb… NO WAY!

Chance Larieux. Lucky. Buck-toothed boy turned strong, sensitive man. Oh, and also extremely attractive. ;)

After the initial shock of their second chance romance, I found it quite ironic. Toni feels like she destroys everything she loves and Lucky feels like he loses everything he loves. See my point? Once again, I thought I knew that they would push each other away and fight their attraction the whole book. He would have to face his fear – as would she. Blah, blah, blah… When, WHAM! Toni finds out she is pregnant!

Of course, there was the subtle foreshadowing and hints but I had no idea that that was going to happen when I picked up this book. This situation brings a lot of humor and cute moments between Lucky and Toni. It definitely knocks Toni down a couple notches and allows Lucky to really shine. I mean, how cute is he? *swoon*

“No more surprises,” I thought. How could Elle put any more shocking moments in one book? (Elle Casey, why did I doubt you? AGAIN!?) Ollie and May get engaged. Lucky and Toni are having TWINS! Jenny and Toni are helping May plan her wedding when – HOLY CRAP – May announces she’s pregnant! Say WHAT?

Overall, this book is just too good. I could not put it down and stayed up wayyyy past my bedtime to finish it. The character development and relationship building was fantastic. Not only did we get to see Lucky and Toni’s epic journey, but we get to see them deal with some heavy burdens they’ve been carrying around for a long time.

If you haven’t started this series yet, why haven’t you? You won’t be disappointed.

With this being the 3rd standalone installment of The Bourbon Street Boys series, we were able to get to know the MC's Toni and Lucky before they got there own book. I can usually tell if I will look forward to certain characters story or not when you get glimpses. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by this book. Toni is a tough-as-nails chick. What glimpses we've seen of her in previous books, I just wasn't sure if I would like her story. I actually really adored her story! She came to life in her own book. Instead of just being the tough girl that doesn't let anyone in, we get to see her thought process and learn so much more about her. I liked what I saw. Yes, she was tough but her grudgingly affection towards silly May and her sister Jenny was more heartwarming than someone that accepted everyone from the start. I loved reading how these two woman were growing on her. Then you get to see her with Jenny and Dev's kids. Toni really thought kids didn't like her, yet their interactions was just so cute! The only time I really got frustrated with Jenny was when she wouldn't let Lucky be as sweet and attentive to her like he wanted in the beginning. I hated that she had to do her tough girl routine with him, but she doesn't do it for long. I really wanted to see her accept Lucky and when she did, it was beautiful! Great book and I can't wait for the next one!

De los tres primeros libros de la saga, este es el que más me ha gustado junto con el primero.

Es alucinante la personalidad de Toni, su evolución, la lucha consigo misma...

En cuanto a Lucky, me ha fallado un poco el duelo de la pérdida de su pez; recuerdo inequívoco de su hermana fallecida. Ahí la autora coleteó un poco.

Por lo demás, más trama del equipo, más historias enrevesadas, más acción.

This is Book Three in the Bourbon Street Boys Series.
Toni Delacourte has the exclusive narrative voice in this installment. I have not read the first or second book in this series. Toni starts out to be a tough cookie in the beginning of this book. She has shot her former ex Charlie five times in the chest. It is mentioned many times in this book as she r eflects back talking to Charlie. I thought there would be more activity with the Bourbon Street Boys as they call themselves. They aid the police by doing surveillance work on gangs. That aspect is in the background in this book.

Lucky jumps in the cab to make sure Toni gets home safely after a celebration. They both have had too much to drink and end up having unprotected sex. Toni ends up getting pregnant. I get the impression that Toni was a hard to get along with, frightened, wracked with guilt, afraid to let anybody get close to her type of character.. Once she gets pregnant the hormones or expecting twins seems to mellow out her personality. The whole book basically covers her pregnancy and little by little she begins to let Lucky be a part of her life.

After taking several home pregnancy tests which yield a positive result in the bar where they all frequent, Lucky shows up with his suitcases and moves in with Toni. Lucky feels since it is his babies he wants to help Toni. This is met with much resistance at first by Toni. Lucky sleeps in a separate bedroom at first. Lucky is experiencing the same guilt because his sister committed suicide and he feels there must have been something he could have done to prevent it. Lucky starts cooking dinner for Toni and they play scrabble and discover they have feelings for each other. Both are afraid to take the relationship further. Nonetheless they fall in love. Ozzie and his fiance May and May's sister Jenny have a minimal role in this book.

It is a very simple premise. Nothing much happens. One notable scene takes place with Toni going to Charlie's mother's house to try to convey that she is sorry for taking Charlie's life. His mother gives Toni a beating with a black baton that lands Toni in the hospital. Toni crawls into a fetal position trying to protect her unborn twins until neighbors intervene. The story was entertaining. I didn't like Toni in the very beginning of the book. Her character and Lucky trying to fight their personal demons and finally they both find a way to forgive themselves is again all that really happens. I am glad I read this. I probably wouldn't revisit this series.

Last year I got sick of whiny bitches in my romance novels and now I mostly read m/m romance. Not to say I don't occasionally come across a whiny bitch in my gay romances, it's just not as often. But I remember loving the first book in this series so I thought I'd give this book a try.

Wow. Just. No. This chickie right here reminded me why I stopped reading m/f. This bitch is nuts. Definition of too-stupid-to-live. If not for glimpses of characters I liked from the first book I would have to give this one star.

Wrong Question, Right Answer was an OK read.
I was so looking forward to this book, but I failed to connect with Toni's character and as much as I loved Lucky it did affect my overall enjoyment.

3 Stars - 3 Flames

Ok...confession time. I didn't really pay attention to the fact that this was the third installment to a series when I picked this up. I honestly read the blurb and was intrigued enough to want to read it. I'm not a huge fan of reading installments out of order. Mainly because I usually feel at least a little left out when the author references couples from the previous books and I have NO IDEA what that chemistry is or how cool it may be in relation to the current book I'm reading. That being said, that's probably why I felt a tad bit disconnected while reading this one. Don't get me wrong. The story line itself is worthy of a standalone, but I KNOW I would have enjoyed it more if I read in it's intended order.

Toni is, how should I put this, pretty hardcore, depressed, angry, bitter and isn't afraid to piss people off, even those who are closest to her. Not the type of heroine I usually steer toward, but it works for Toni. Bad family history, bad ex-boyfriend history, jail time and probably one of the biggest chips on her shoulder you'll ever see. But her "team" keeps her sane and is quite honestly the only people who truly understand her and who she is. But the one person she's considered a brother (ok, maybe a little more than a brother considering they kissed in Junior High) for the past, oh, ever, is now suddenly expressing feelings he has and, hey...why not, right?

Lucky is the best friend of Toni's brother and Toni's teammate. He's also that "brother" I was referring to earlier. Something snaps, and the next thing we know, he's spewing his feelings to Toni and they're making out and...what the hell just happened? It's not until a couple weeks later that we find out that those few moments of "sharing" were going to last a lifetime.

Lucky spends most of the book trying to convince Toni not only that his feelings are genuine, but that she's a good person despite for awesome attitude. Toni spends most of the book fighting her feelings and trying to come to terms with her past. All in all, this was a pretty easy book to get in to. But like I mentioned earlier, I probably would have enjoyed it more if I had read the first two installments prior to this one.

Ich bedanke mich bei Netgalley und dem Amazon Publishing / Montlake Romance für das kostenlose Rezensionsexemplar des Buches. Ich gebe hier meine unabhängige und unbezahlte Meinung zu dem Buch ab.
Nachdem ich schon die beiden ersten Teile der Serie gelesen habe, freute ich mich schon sehr auf die Fortsetzung. Allerdings muss ich ehrlich sagen, dass mir der Schreibstil im ersten Buch am allerbesten gefallen hat. In diesem hier hatte ich wirklich meine Probleme damit warm zu werden. Die Story und die Protagonisten hatten keine Schuld daran, aber irgendwas am Stil der Autorin war anders. Ob es an dem Plot lag, der dieses Mal eine wirklich tiefgreifendes Thema berührte, die langen Beschreibungen Schuld waren oder vielleicht die Wiederholungen von Dingen an die, die Protagonistin dachte? Ich weiß es nicht, vielleicht war es einfach ein wenig von allem. Außerdem fehlte mir gerade bei diesem Buch die Sicht aus Luckys Perspektive, denn er war ja schon seid seiner Kindheit in Toni verliebt und ich hätte wirklich gern mehr darüber erfahren und auch über seine Gefühle und Gedanken in den ganzen Jahren als sie zusammen gearbeitet hatten. Das hätte dem Buch einen ziemlichen Kick gegeben. Da bei mir der Funke nicht so recht überspringen wollte muss ich sagen, dass dieses Buch für mich persönlich bisher der schwächste Band in der Reihe war. Mir fehlte Leichtigkeit, etwas Gefühl und ein wenig von der Vergangenheit der beiden und ihrer Gefühle füreinander. Lucky hat mir sehr gut gefallen, Toni jedoch hat im Laufe der Geschichte ihren Biss ein wenig verloren, obwohl sie doch eigentlich eine starke Frau ist, die sich behaupten kann. Daher gebe ich diesem Buch mit beiden Augen zudrücken 4 Sterne und hoffe, dass das nächste Buch an die Vorgänger anknüpfen können wird vom hohen Niveau des Schreibstils her und dieses hier ein Ausrutscher war.

I have a love-hate relationship with Elle Casey novels, some I adore and others I loathe - no middle ground. Until now ...

Much like the heroine Toni, I am flip-flopping about this review but I have finally decided.

May and Jenny are too irritating for words. Thank goodness my country doesn't allow us to carry guns because if it did I would have shot both of them, multiple times. They went well beyond the zany, kooky girls into Darwin Award territory.

Whilst I totally identified with Toni at the start and felt that Lucky was also likely to join May and Jenny on my 'next to be shot' list, she started to vacillate so much I started to get dizzy. She loves Lucky, she hates him. He is being unreasonable, he has a point. She knows what she can and can't do, she has been irresponsible. Ozzie has treated her unfairly, Ozzie has a point. She should meet Eunice face-to-face, meeting Eunice was a stupid idea. And so on.

The more I think about it the more Lucky felt like a cardboard cut out, honestly Toni was supposed to know how he felt because he kissed her in high school? Why not ask her out on a date? Why not tell her how you feel? Why not combine the two and say "hey, I like you, would you like to go for a drink, just the two of us?".

There appeared to be no attempt at a plot for the Bourbon Street Boys to solve. There was a gang-related case but it kind of disappeared from view only to pop up for no apparent reason towards the end of the book.

Overall, it was OK. I think I will give Elle Casey books a miss for a while, she seems to like to write 'kooky' characters who just make me want to stab myself in the eye.

I enjoyed the first book in this series "Wrong Number, Right Guy". That's why I kept up with this series. But it's just gone downhill from that promising start. The suspense elements seem to just been thrown in mindlessly. Had to stop listening because the narrator's voice/accent for the protagonist was awful. Finished reading it. Enjoyed those parts the most that featured the main characters from book 1 and 2. But this story's couple, Lucky and Toni, did nothing for me.

Devo dire che il romanzo mi ha un po’ deluso. È molto piatto ed è privo della passione e dell’azione che mi aspettavo di trovare.
La storia d’amore in sé sembra non decollare mai, così come la passione e la dolcezza che ci si aspetta in questo genere di libro.
Un vero peccato perché oltre ad essere un romanzo davvero ben scritto, aveva anche un buon potenziale, ma nel corso della storia si è perso.
Ho sicuramente apprezzato di più i primi volumi, divertimenti e ironici, e le loro protagoniste.
Toni invece mi ha un po’ delusa; non è più la donna forte che abbiamo conosciuto nei volumi precedenti, qui perde tutta la sua spavalderia.
Non posso dire lo stesso di Lucky, che mi è piaciuto davvero e mi è dispiaciuto che l’autrice abbia scelto di dargli poco spazio, seppure sia il protagonista.
Tutta la storia gira intorno ai pensieri del personaggio femminile, lasciando poco spazio a colui che, secondo me, è uno dei personaggi migliori della serie.
Forse è proprio il poco spazio che ha Lucky nella storia ad aver influenzato il mio giudizio ma, care lettrici, questo personaggio meritava davvero molto di più.
Ha una storia davvero ricca e affascinante ed è un peccato che venga messo in un angolo.
Avrebbe regalato a questo libro quello che manca, ossia azione, passione e romanticismo.
Peccato!

Tre stelline stiracchiate.
Puntavo molto su questo terzo volume della serie, ma troppi dettagli non mi hanno convinto.
I due protagonisti mi sono piaciuti, ma non mi è piaciuto come è stata sviluppata l'intera vicenda.
Non vi dico a cosa mi riferisco perché sarebbe troppo "spoileroso", ma ho trovato troppe situazioni assurde e insensate. Ho sentito anche la mancanza di pathos e di tensione tra i due protagonisti.
Peccato, mi aspettavo decisamente di più dal libro di Toni e Lucky!
Il libro si legge comunque velocemente perché scorrevole, ma alla fine non mi ha lasciato quasi nulla.

This made for an ok read for me. It wasn’t as good as the previous books in the series though. Toni, the heroine, just didn’t feel like the character we saw in the first 2 books of the series. She seemed to have lost her badass vibe. I never felt the relationship between Lucky and Toni develop. We are told that they have years of history about crushing on one another, and a kiss was shared as teenagers, but I wanted more. I didn’t get their connection and I never really felt any chemistry between the 2 characters. This still made for a pleasant read but nothing overly memorable. I did like getting follow-ups on the characters from previous books in the series, and I'm glad it was offered as a kindleunlimited.

3 ok stars. Nice light-hearted read! Some parts were funny and entertaining. Unfortunately most of the time it was just Toni being a low self-deserving goof ball in her own head. I didn't feel the romance between the characters, and Lucky was just to soft for my taste. I like my men to have more of a backbone. Don't get me wrong... I liked the concept of the book, it just fell a bit flat in the relationship department. Arc was generously provided for an honest review.

It’s been a while since I was back with the Bourbon Street Boys and their beautiful ladies but I slipped back in with ease. All of the books so far have been about the guys but this time it is Toni’s turn. Well to be fair this story is also about Lucky too.

Toni and Lucky have known each other all their lives and even had ‘something’ when they were teens until Toni got lured into a relationship with a guy that was all kinds of wrong for her. We all have those rebellious moments in life right? Unfortunately, this was a huge mistake for Toni and left her with a huge chip on her shoulder and a mistrust of people.

There has always been a simmering attraction between Lucky and Toni but she is a hard nut to crack, she has these huge walls up guarding her emotions but when it comes to Lucky she finds it hard to reign in her feelings. And this is how they ended up sleeping together one night after work…

“He went from being my brother’s best friend and a quasi-member of the family to being my lifelong crush in that moment. I knew it was a mistake, but the heart wants what it wants.”

While this is all going on, Toni is still dealing with things that happened in her past, even though she shouldn’t be. There are some things that should just stay in the past but Toni thinks she needs to make amends with someone before she can invite any love or happiness into her life.

Lucky too is in a bad place at the moment and needs Toni to be his salve. Can I just say that I freaking loved Lucky, he is the sweetest guy who, no matter what life threw at him, remains loyal and devoted to the people he cares about.

Questo romanzo mi ha lasciata molto perplessa. A parte May il resto della squadra è sbiadito. Toni si rivela una lagna problematica e Lucky è un personaggio inesistente. Nessun coinvolgimento emotivo invita il lettore a proseguire la storia che dopo i primi capitoli si siede e resta ferma fino al finale davvero noioso.

Ok so I traded off between reading and listening to the audio on this one. I did not love the audio. But the story was good despite the "no! Wtf are you doing?!" portion of the plot...I enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the story. All Bourbon Street Boys are fun if you are looking for something to tide you over and want something good.

I thought the relationship development between the FMC in this third book with the FMC from the first book was hilarious.

So far this is has been my favorite book of the series. I wasn’t really sure about Toni in the last two books because she is so stand-offish. I knew there was a story there and boy do we get it. Both Toni and Lucky battle some inner demons that have lead them to become the people they are. Toni was in an abusive relationship in the past and when it got to be too much she took matters into her own hands. While Lucky has his own burden of guilt over the death of his sister. If two people ever needed love it is them and they find it with each other. Right away the line of friends and coworkers become blurred and Lucky ends up having to push Toni every step of the way to break down her walls. She is so afraid of people seeing her as weak that she can’t seem to realize these same people are her family and love her regardless of any perceived weakness on her part.

I also loved the friendship between Toni and May that is building. I mean these two doing surveillance is super funny!

“Seconds later, her attention is on something else. “Look! Hookers.”

She lifts her camera and shoots off a few frames. When she’s done, she takes a look in her viewfinder and smiles. “She’s actually really pretty. Did you see her legs? Gorgeous. I wish I had legs like that.” She sighs.

I snort. “You’d need a set of testicles to have those legs.”

I hate to say it but that would be me as well! I think that Toni really needs May even if she doesn’t want to admit it. May teaches her to be a bit softer and helps her see herself differently. Another great scene was the May’s wedding! I mean only these two could manage to invite such a bad guy to a wedding. You have to read it to find out what I am talking about!

I am seriously loving this series. I read the first two books back to back then had to wait for this one and I thought I would have forgotten a lot of the characters and I wasn’t super excited to start reading this once I got it but I sat down knowing I had been hanging out for it and within pages I was lost to the perfect writing.



Not the perfect characters because of all the characters in this series these two were by far the most broken and we had sort of explored that in the previous books but not being inside their heads and living through their drama I had no idea the full extent of it all.


Toni was such a hard arse I wasn’t sure if she could soften enough for me to get behind her as a leading lady. Even knowing all that she had been through I just couldn’t see how anyone could get close enough to break through that hard shell and get her to believe she was worthy of their love and affection.

I was so besotted with Lucky from the start he carries such a weight of his own but he never felt sad for himself or acted like a miserable jerk. But sadly since this book was told from Toni’s point of view I didn’t feel like I got enough of Lucky although what I did get was awesome. And I loved these two as a couple especially once Toni let down her guard enough to commit to them.



This was a great addition to the series and I loved catching up with the whole team. Hopefully Thibault gets his own story soon although I don’t know who could be strong enough and worthy of joining this tight knit group.

Every book in this series just keeps getting better! Toni has some serious issues that she is struggling to deal with. She was in an abusive relationship and had to kill her boyfriend in self defense. Toni struggles with this issue and has a hard time letting anyone get too close. We have Lucky who hasn't stopped blaming himself over his sisters unexpected suicide. Out of all the couples in this series I enjoyed their story the most. They both had a lot of issues to work on and needed each other to move on. We did have a lot of back and forth between them. Toni is a very independent woman and didn't appreciate Lucky going all alpha male. In his defense he was doing the right thing but with Toni that approach will not going to work. I'm glad the couple got to work out their issues and grow. I've been waiting for Lucky's book since book 1. I had a slight issue with the case. There wasn't too much mention about the case until the end and I honestly forgot what was going on. Overall, I did enjoy the story and I can't wait for the next book!
