I loved it!!! Fantastic!!! This is the second book about a dog I've read this year that I have absolutely loved!!!
Probably what I loved most was Elora's "memories" of the past and how much Blackie meant to her. But I also loved how much Blackie loved Elora and Helm! And what he would do to be with his people!!!
This was exactly what I needed to give me some Christmas feels!!!

Black Dog is such a fabulous book. It is book 12.5 of the Knights of the Black Swan and it felt like a family reunion to me. You might ask; how can a book about a dog be all that? Well this story was so entertaining, exciting and nail biting. I cried, laughed and held my breath, hoping all would work out. There are sad moments in the book, and parts that made me so angry I wanted to jump in there and beat the bad guys. But the love you feel and see while reading is stronger than hate when the Hawking family and their friends from the Knights of the Black Swan are in the picture. Thank you, Victoria Danann for another wonderful adventure with the Knights, their families and a few very special dogs.
I highly recommend this book.

“Black Dog” is a tail wagging, belly rubbing and feel good read.
Ms. Danann reacquaints her readers with how Blackie got to where he and his humans are in their lives and your heartstrings can’t help but be tugged.
Tears maybe involved...so is laughter of the “elvish” type.
A wonderful book! She must give her readers more of this story!🐾

There are at least three reasons not to read this book:
1. You haven’t read all the other Black Swan books. Without all of the background, you will not appreciate all the back stories that are alluded to in this one. This is easily remedied – read those first, then read this one. You’ll be glad you did.
2. You are a 100% dedicated Black Swan Junkie. This will make you want more Black Swan.
3. You are easily affected by the dark side of life this one takes you – as gently as possible. Considering the subject, it’s as easy as it can be said… and it should be said.
4. You’re too macho to read most of a book with tears floating around.
Oops, that was four, wasn’t it? Oh well.
Now about the book: If you didn’t know the title, you might wonder if it’s about Blackie, or Elora. Or maybe, just a little, about Helm. But you know, don’t you. But the maybe it should be named Black Dog and His Mistress; or how about The Black Dog and His Pack? Oh well, it’s got the right name.
I’m not telling you the story, you’ll have to get the book for that but I will tell it is quite a story and it touches on a societal problem that needs attention. And if you’re invested in the Black Swan World as some of us are, it is very emotional but mostly good emotions. As a bonus, it brings the major Black Swan players together and gives us a little slice of their “today life.” It’s awesome and we need more, hint, hint.
I’ll close with this: If you’re a Victoria Danann fan then you will find no surprises here – it’s her typical, 10-star story-telling, presented as only she can. Yep, 10 stars on a 5-star scale.

My gosh, Ms. Danann has done it again! Readers of Black Swan have known all along how special Blackie is; but to actually get to hear his thoughts and feelings and deep love and devotion for his family..... well, the tag says it all....love, devotion and courage. Better have a box of tissues nearby.

I cannot properly express how much I enjoyed this novella. Not just because it`s a part of a series I love , love Ms. Danann`s style and perspectives in this one! Blackie , what can I say but GOOD BOY!! Loved seeing old as well as a few new to meet. Eagerly awaiting #13!

Best Christmas story ever!
It's Christmas Eve. I am supposed to be getting ready, instead I am reading this book. It's so good! I couldn't put it down. In true Victoria Danann form this book tugs at the heartstrings. She lets us in on the dog Blackie's perspective also. We get to meet a teenage Helm. Love the young man he is turning into. This started off my day with a smile. From a Forever Fan... Pam James.

Elora rescued Blackie when he was being abused. Blackie kept her safe when she was injured and freezing, while giving birth to Helm. Their bond was inseparable and extended to Helm. When Blackie is stolen from his home, old friends and family must work together to locate him and bring him home. It is always a welcome treat to visit with primary characters of the Knights of the Black Swan series but even more delightful to get acquainted with their extended families. Such a heartwarming story of friendship and family!

Oh my gosh I love this short story. This is the perfect addition to the Black Swan series. You see different points of view from our favorite characters point of view and then throw in Blackies view of things and what a fun read. I have to admit I was seeing black and ready to be very violent with a couple of guys in this book. If you love Black Swan you cannot say no to this book. Sit, stay, read.

This book recalls earlier memories from the first few books of the “The Knights of the Black Swan” series. It shows how the original characters have formed not just as team mates but as a family. It shows how they have become bound together. A family that recognizes its members are from all walks of life and species. This shows the strength of not only of a core family but of the friends that are there to lend their help and support when called upon. It’s a wonderful holiday (Yule) story that is very enjoyable and emotional journey.

Knights of the Black Swan book? I am THERE! A visit, albeit stressful, with Ram, Elora, Storm and Lithia? Don't bother me, I'm reading! Throw in a story of the special love and loyalty between a person and their furry, four-legged family member? I struck gold.
If you have never read the Knights of the Black Swan series, I HIGHLY recommend it. The first book is "My Familiar Stranger." You will be transported to a parallel universe very similar to ours with distinct differences. The characters are fantastic and the writing is superb. You will be sucked in and love every single minute of it. One of my very favorite series. Hell, even my 85-year old mother, a curmudgeon until the day she died, LOVED this series. High praise indeed! ;)

This was a very cute book for any 🐕 lover! In any of the books with Elora, you can tell she and Blackie have a special bond. But in this one you see it for real. Plus he also has a bond with Helm. He is almost as close to Helm as he is Elora. I love how everyone bonded together to find Blackie. It reminded me of how much I love my dog. The story also made me crave more. I can't wait to read more about Helm and find out what kind of king he will be.

Victoria Danann has given us a wonderful Christmas present. What is even better, it keeps on giving because one read is simply not enough.
We get to meet some of our favourite characters from the Knights of the Black Swan Series. I can't get enough of Ram, Elora, Storm, Litha, and Kellareal. Helm is a teenager now and is living up to the promise of being another favourite. But more than that we get to have the point of view of Blackie, the dog Elora rescued and bonded with in the first book. This book is a must for any dog lover. I hope we get more from his point of view.
BLACK DOG had me on the edge of my seat. I cried a lot both tears of sadness and tears of happiness. At the end, I was filled with joy. Treat yourself and read this amazing tale.

Black God is a great little story that I could not put down.
Blackie is Elora Hawking’s faithful friend &loved by all the family & is an Honorary Black Knight, so when he goes missing that whole gang gets involved in a search & rescue operation.
It was so lovely to go back and remember the real connection between Blackie & Elora, and it was great to have my main man Storm back for a little while.
This was a story of true love & determination & was very well told as usual by Ms.Danann.

What a Good Dog!
Loved this story! I have missed the KBS and this was a great Christmas story to bring back this amazing Family. I can't wait to see what happens next not only with the KBS Legends but their children as well. If all dogs were as loyal as these, then I would have a multitude of them. Love Blackie and Helm's relationship. Thank you Victoria for being them to life once more.

I could not put this down! The point of view from Blackie felt so real! The intricate details of his love for his family and life on the farm; to his strength, courage and determination to get back home. The extreme emotional roller coaster from anger, retaliation and love will pull at your heartstrings.

I would not have thought of this story however that’s why I don’t write stories!! This was so amazing to read and I loved hearing the dogs side of things lol. I had tears and I 100% cried like a baby! Sssooo good

Black Dog by Victoria Danann is a Knigghts of Black Swan book and I can't say how highly I anticipated this read. I simply can't get enough of Ram and Co. - and there's a lot of the old B-Team. The story starts out with Blackie and Elora's adventure years ago and leads to today's incident.
I will not spoiler here, only so much, read this book, it's so worth it !! When you a fan of Storm, Ram, Elora and their families you'll get a gem with Black Dog.
I recommend Black Dog and give 5 stars.

What a great little read, all the Hawkins family together and Eloras reminiscing on the past. Blackie is such a loyal dog who would do anything to help its master/family. This book had me laughing and crying and is one book I will definitely remember. Well done on another great read victoria.

Victoria Danann does it again with Black Dog. I missed the people (and the dog) in her books. I’m so happy to catch up with them! I have read all of her books and this is another page turner. Make sure you have time because once you start reading; you will not put it down. This book is funny at times with long term romance that you don’t see in other books.

Another fantastic book from Victoria Danann.
I enjoyed this book very much and found that it kept me wanting to read more.
I love the way all the characters interact and that the story fits wonderfully well with the rest of the Knights of the Black Swan series.
Victoria Danann is an amazing author who writes such fantastic books.

I loved this story about Blackie, and some of it is in Blackie's point of view. <3 The ending was a little abrupt (wish it had been longer), but Black Dog: A Christmas Story is well worth the read for Knights of Black Swan fans.

OMG!!!!!! What a fabulous tale! I have loved every one of the Black Swan tales and this is no exception! To have a tale told from the point of view of a dog is amazing but to combine it with characters we already know is brilliant!!
Blackie, Elora's dog is kidnapped (dognapped!) by dog fighters and this is the tale of how he gets back home! IT is a tale of courage, faith and love and worthy of the series!
