This was given to me for free in exchange for an honest review.
I knew quite a bit about journeying before I read this novel but I did like that the things I knew were expanded upon and given to me in more detail. I loved learning all about shamanic teachings. My great-grandmother was a Native American and died long before I could learn more from her so I suck up things like this because it makes me feel closer to her. I love learning anything about Native culture and their religion. That was the main reason I wanted this book and it didn't disappoint. Even if you plan to never put any of this into practice, you will still learn a lot and even from the viewpoint of different Native traditions.
The writing is nice, gives details without feeling like it's just listing things to do. I loved the little stories she gave beforehand of her own experiences even when she failed sometimes and had to work harder. I like that because journeying can be hard to get started and even to keep it up so I liked those added parts.
Overall, this is a great book for beginners and even if you already know a wee bit as I did. You'll still learn something new, I promise. It's worth it!
I really enjoyed reading Journeying Between the Worlds. To be honest, I read this book to earn about the Native American Shamanic Teaching and not to practice. While there were a few exercises that will be helpful to me, I can not with a good conscious practice and practice correctly. But that does not stop me from learning! That being said, I can't review this a how to book. But I can review it based on what it that me and it threw a lot at me. I learned so much about connecting with yourself as well as connecting with the spirit world. I learned all about instruments and tools and how they functioned in the rituals. Coming out of the book, I truly have an appreciation for the spiritual material in the book even though I don't practice myself. I am so glad to have an inside look and truly understand the practice of certain Native American groups.
I received an ARC through NeGalley; all opinions are my own.
This is just the book I needed at this time in my life. Isn't that funny how things turn out? I have been journeying and seeking spirit and animal guides with guidance from my father. I've been thirsty for more knowledge, more experiences with this other world, especially in the challenge of holding balance between the two. Eagle Skyfire is open with her practices and has lovely exercises for her readers to work through. I feel that she has tapped into the true spirit of teaching the ways while still respecting her path as well as our own. I hope many others looking for answers are able to find this book and, in it, find themselves.
Journeying Between the Worlds is an excellent book of shamanic teachings. Whether you are just a curious beginner or an intermediate practitioner there is much to learn within the pages of this book. It is written in a way so that it can be easily understood by individuals of any culture. Through the teachings, exercises, and stories contained within you will be able to connect more with your inner self and the spirit world. I have always been intrigued by the Shamans in Native American culture, and this was the perfect book to satisfy my intrigues. Highly recommended.
I had a Native American great-grandmother who I didn't have the opportunity to meet but, knowing that I was part Native American sparkled a curiosity to learn more about my ancestors' culture. Journeying Between the Worlds was the first book on Shamanic teachings I've read. This book is easy to read and understand. This is not a book that you read once. This is a book to keep by your bed to read and practice the teachings over and over. After practicing the teachings in this book I just felt so connected to my ancestors and Earth Mother like never before. Thank you, Eagle Skyfire!
Eagle Skyfire is a presence in this world that is needed now more than ever. She has dedicated her life to this work, and this book shows it! The amount of authentic knowledge and deep-rooted wisdom offered in this book is beyond measure. And yet, it is presented in such a way which allows for people of all walks of life to engage and understand. I highly recommend this book, whether you wish to actively engage in a spiritual walk or not, it is a must-read piece of literature for the ages.
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. Being Native American myself this book drew me in and gave me a window into another of spiritual the Native culture. I enjoying the way the book is laid out and all the exercises and looking at how this works. There is something about this book that just seems to give me a sense of fulfillment. It makes me feel good reading it. I have been using my journal to keep what I am learning and discovering along my own spiritual journey.
This was a good book to read and a good way to learn different practices of journeying and how to connect with other Realms in Spiritual Beings. I know I will come back to and refer to this book often. You will not be a shaman after reading this book but you will understand many of the principles and have a basic overview of different paths one may take.
I can’t wait to read more of Eagle Skyfire’s books. Journeying between the Worlds is magnificent. I’ve always felt drawn to Sharmanic practices and the Native American ways, and before Eagle Skyfire came into my world, had never really had a teacher. This book has opened up my spiritual journey and helped me to connect to a whole new spiritual world that was always there for me but I never really knew how to take the road but now I’m truly on it.
This practical and informative gem of a book not only explains shamanism and its Native American traditions, it offers easy-to-follow exercises for shamanic journeying. Reader-friendly for beginners as well as for those wanting to take a deeper dive into these ancient practices, Journeying Between the Worlds gives us practical tools to help us live interactively with the world of spirit.
This book by Eagle Skyfire is an excellent opportunity to venture into the sacred practices of Native American Shamanism. It is comprehensive in my opinion but also easy to understand. It also offers the opportunity to honor and have insight into these practices..
