*Sequel to Undying (Valos of Sonhadra, #7) by Tiffany Roberts

Despite the shelter her adoptive parents have provided her entire life, Nina's psychic abilities have always hung over her like a shadow. The very powers that should give her strength have driven her to isolate herself. But lately, her craving for companionship — a mate — has become stronger than her fear. One foolish decision puts her life at great risk. And also provides a wondrous discovery...

Aduun, Vortok, and Balir have existed in a state of constant rage and ravenous hunger for centuries, locked away in the beastly forms that were forced upon them. Their only thoughts were of revenge on their Creator — until a mysterious female falls into their underground prison, restoring their heartstones and their sanity. They know nothing about her, yet she may be their only chance at reclaiming their freedom.

Unable to deny their intense attraction, they set out together to escape their Creator’s trap and rescue their lost people. Can they keep Nina safe and persevere in a world designed to destroy them?

The Valos of Sonhadra series is a Sci-Fi alien romance with each of the books are being told by a different author. If you have a favourite author of the bunch and don't want to read them all don't worry, each book can be read as a standalone. The background story for each book is the same, A prison ship which crashed onto Sonhadra, aboard the ship, there were scientist performing experiments on the female prisoners. This resulted in some of the test subjects, those who didn't die horribly, having some extraordinary abilities.  It also made it easier for them to survive on the alien planet they have crashed on. Sonhadra, the planet they have landed on, is inhabited by valos. The valos come in different factions and all have unique abilities and appearances of their own.

In Unleashed we have moved forward in time from the other books in the series. It's almost Valos of the Sonhadra: The Next Generation.  Our heroine Nina was born on Sonhadra and inherited her deceased mothers psychic abilities. Her mother died when she was a toddler but she was luckily rescued by Orishok and Quinn, the hero and heroine from Undying. However, her psychic abilities have kept her separated from the other inhabitants of the Sonhadra as she finds it hard in groups of people. But, when she gets lost and falls into a hidden cave network, she stumbles on to some unknown valos and she must learn to embrace her powers if she and the males she is falling in love with are to survive.

The Valos of Sonhadra series is where I first discovered Tiffany Roberts who has now become one of my favourite sci-fi romance authors. If you haven't tried her Kraken series, you really need to give it a try, or if you are in the mood for some fantasy, her Isle of the Forgotten series is fantastic. But, as much as I enjoy her other series', I do have a soft spot for this one as Undying is a favourite and where I first discovered the husband-wife writing team. I also enjoy that we get to revisit some previous characters, mainly Orishok and Quinn. We also get a glimpse of how society on Sonhadra is progressing with all the new people and valos mixing after more than a decade on the planet.

But, as exciting as that is, it's the romance that I was looking forward to, especially as it was a reverse harem story. I have been looking for reverse harem stories, as I love to see how the dynamics work between the small group of people. Roberts doesn't disappoint as we get to meet 3 very different males, who differ in not only appearance (if you like your aliens alien, then roll right up!) but in personality as well.

This book also had a lot of action, it had a sci-fi romance meets the Hunger Games vibe to it. Our heroine and heroes had to survive a variety of different and deadly landscapes thrown at them by an evil controller who was intent on killing them before they could reach their destination. This added a lot excitement to the romance, as they were falling in love, getting used to their "humanity" (or valosanity?) again after a millennia and trying to survive.

If you love sci fi romance like me, especially if you love some very alien looking aliens then this book, in fact this series, is a must read. Sexy, romantic and packed full of action, it won't disappoint.

3.5 stars.

It was a pretty good read. The events in the story were well described and interesting.
The weirdest thing for me was the description of one of the three hero’s... well... his dick. The heroine said it was as long as her forearm and thicker than her wrist. I’m sorry, but that is horrendously large and there surely is no woman alive (especially a virgin) who could have pleasurable full penetration sex with THAT as easily as she did. That aspect of the story was pretty jarring personally 😂.

4.4 stars.
This was very sweet.
I really loved all the growth and healing and relationship development that happened in this book.
They were on such a treacherous journey that the characters had time and opportunity to grow really close throughout the book.
And that ending was just so satisfying.
Plus the smut was really hot monster sex so, that’s always a fun time.
I’m really glad I read it.

This was one sweet and sexy read! Thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was so nice to visit Sonhadra again, and it warmed my heart how the authors gave closure to their characters in every way.

Just OK

I'm a fan of Tiffany and Roberts books . That being said , I'm disappointed with this book . It possessed great characters with interesting back stories . Unfortunately the story became boring . The characters started a journey that just became redundant . It wasn't just a journey but several with different scenery and the same outcome . I kept wondering , " When is this going to change ? " I'm starting to want to skip through the story because it's just the same thing over and over again . The ending was good with HEA and all that. It was just the trip getting to the ending that just was ho hum . 😟 I've read all the Valos of Sonhadra books . This book was still better than several of the others . Personally I think the Valos books have run their course . I'll remain a fan of TR and will still look forward to their future books . 😸

While I liked the underlying plot of the telepathic FMC Nina finding and escaping with her harem of beast shifter valos from their prison and the final battle against , the book really dragged on unnecessarily long through multiple environments. The relationship progress was repetitive throughout their journey, and most environments basically had some type of extreme weather and vicious enemy to defeat, with Nina being the weakest link, and the men needing to find a place to shelter and recover. The first two times of the same realization and resolution was more than enough - we didn't need to read about it 4+ more times.

The ending was a bit rushed with everything wrapped up including Nina's reunion with her parents in a few chapters when Nina and her men's journey took over 300 pages. It was a little unsatisfying in pacing, but I'm glad Nina finally got her dream HEA even if the overall cast of characters in the real world was rather underdeveloped.

I'm also a little bitter that I don't recall the Balir ever fully shifting, unlike the other two. Additionally, Nina's dream-walking fizzled out once they were physically intimate, but I thought it was significant to keep it up for Balir's sake since he was basically blind in real life from his experimentation changes.

It was an okay read, but I won't pick this book up again for a re-read.

Another great installment from this writer duo. Giving us another slice of life from the Valos of Sonhadra Series.

Set even moreso in the future this is a Nina’s story. When her mother dies on sonhadra leaving her alone at 5 years old, all Nina has is the inherited side affects as her defence. Finding herself before death himself she should be wary but her powers enable her to see him for what he is... a caretaker.. a protector.. and the father of her heart... taken in and cared for by Orishock and Quinn, Nina finds herself on the outside despite being loved by her adoptive parents. Terrified of her powers and scared to be around any of the other valos or their human companions... she’s resigns herself to a life alone.

Until she inadvertently falls into the scales, hooves and claws of three beast valos. The original valos that we’re experimented on by the creator Kelsharn.

Another original and Cracking story. I loved that it was even further into the future and gave us a look at our favourite humans and valos. That death personified became a daddy 🖤🖤🖤
I really liked the reverse harem aspect in this... the 3 guys, A, V and B were all unique and the fact that despite being tribe mates and friends... they didn’t want to share Nina. I enjoyed the dynamics and loved how they all came to ‘work things out’ despite the perils along their individual and united journey.

There was a lot of action in this book. Much more than the other books I've read in the series. I liked the twists and turns of the plot and the way it ended. I do feel like there were some unanswered questions, but overall it was a pretty satisfying read.

The deeper we get to dive into the Valos world, the more I like it. This time around, we're introduced to a trio of heretofore unseen Valos. Which isn't to say they're a new breed, exactly, because, well, they're not. Exactly. They're a new set of victims of the Creators and they've spent the last thousand years trapped in a hellpit of epic proportions.

And then they get out and find that there's one last test waiting for them before they're REALLY free.

Or, you know, several tests. All of them designed to break the men and the human who'd unwittingly freed them.

Those Creators kinda sucked, didn't they?

Anywho. Their trials are complicated even more by the fact that Aduun, Vortok, and Balir aren't one of the tribes who's into sharing. Yet it's a single human female who bloods all of them and those guys have A LOT of figuring out to do before they reach a point where they're happy with their new circumstances.

As for Nina, she's a new breed of psychic. Born to one of the experimented-upon human survivors, she's dealt with her abilities by hiding herself away in the stone city. Which is NOT a great coping mechanism. But when the chips are down, she figures things out, so I guess it worked for her.

Three beastly Valos, one powerful human. I'm REALLY liking the varied men and women we've been meeting on this world.

One thing I love about these authors is their imagination; this book reminded me of Last Hour of Gann, and Venomous (two sci-fi favourites of mine). You get immersed in the ordeal the MCs go through, and they go through a lot!

There is insta-lust between the three alien/monster-y heroes and the heroine, but you have to wait for the sexy times. Frankly, for a menage story, I was expecting more smuttiness 😜, that is mainly why I don't rate this book with 5 stars; because this is romance but you think it's going to be an erotic romance (3 guys for one lady, hello!), the sex scenes involved inner musings about their mutual adoration, too much for me. There is a fine line between being romantic and being cheesy. Tiffany Roberts write excellent love stories with lovable characters, but a menage should be dirtier...I don't think it's easy to achieve, but I know they can do it.

Also, there is no m-m interaction in the story, which I appreciate.

Maybe I screwed up writing this review, it is siesta time and the foreign language part of my brain is not working much.

While a sweet story, this is not one of Tiffany Roberts' better books, IMO. It's not a bad book, but it felt very repetitive and stale after the second time the heroine comes within inches of death (and very early on). Perhaps it would be more accurate to say Unleashed is not one of their stronger books. Had this been the work of a different writer, I might have been tempted to give it the extra half star to round up, but I tend to rate favorite authors against their own works when making the call. So this one remains a 3.

Tiffany Roberts is an author that I found last year when I started my blog.
They asked me to review a book and I've been hooked ever since.
This series has been a favorite, even sparked an idea for my own story idea.
When a book releases, I immediately go check it out.
But the ones by Tiffany Roberts have always drawn me in more.
Seeing them write in another one of my favorite genres, Reverse Harem, you can expect my heart went into palpitations. Especially since it's not something they have done before.
And boy did they do it!

While it isn't necessary to have read the other books in the series, I would recommend at least reading the other book they wrote in this series.
You will get a better understanding of a few things.
Again though, that isn't necessary.
You can read this book as a stand-alone.

This story takes place twenty years after the crash.
Nina was found as a child by Orishok and then raised by him and his mate, Quinn.
She was the daughter of one of the prisoners who survived the crash of the Concord, her mother suffering experiments like all the others.
Those genetic mutations passed on to Nina and she is able to read the minds of those around her-animal, valo, and human.
Because of her inability to control the thoughts she hears, she isolates herself with the city her parents have maintained.
When they leave on a trip, Nina decides she is tired of being alone and sets out to Utopia to find herself a mate. Someone who can love her like her parents love each other.
But things don't exactly go the way she plans, and after one night, things go astray.

This was a phenomenal story.
So much happens.
We get a great story about a world we thought we knew.
A romance with steamy intimacy scenes.
And a heart-warming reunion.
Everything about it sucked me in and I couldn't put it down.
Even when my eyes were drifting closed and I knew I needed sleep, I pushed through to finish the book.

What I love most about these stories is the unusual romance companions.
They aren't your typical aliens.
All of them take on weird characteristics.
In this story, they resemble animals.
You can see that from the cover.
And while that may seem like something you don't like, give it a shot.
Trust me, you will love how this romance plays out.

This book was just super fantastic.
It showed the characters internal struggles so well, as well as some of their physical ones.
I liked that the guys weren't these macho men and didn't show their shortcomings.
While they didn't let it slow them down, they know what their limits are.
Nina as well.
She has secluded herself because of her power, but she overcomes her fear and embraces who she is.
Learns how to control her power and use it for greater good.

Overall, I loved this book and can see myself picking it up again and again.
I highly recommend, not only this book, but the entire series.
You'll be surprised by some of the authors who contributed!

I love these books !!

I was so excited when I heard about the newest VALOS of SONHADRA book !!! In this book we see that Quinn and her Valos of Death , Orishok have adopted a orphan , Nina . Being born in SONHADRA, Nina has abilities from her Mother . She was experimented in that fateful prison the Concorde.
As Nina grows and thrives, she becomes concerned about her abilities and the hurt and damage that they can do . She begins to pull back and not want to go on the Gatherings , where all of the humans come together in a specific area to keep in touch , and marvel at their new world. She also yearns for a mate of her own . As her parents go away for a few days , she decides that, yes, she can go to Utopia, and find a mate for herself . A strong independent woman , such as herself , can do it all by herself !
Well, that's not exactly what happens , tho !!
Nina finds herself Scared, attacked and running for her life , and all before 24hrs have passed !! And that is just the beginning of her adventures !!
After a scary drop , she finds some lost Valos that she gives them their headstones back , and then they are all on a quest to find the three Beast Valos' tribespeople. If Course , this is SONHADRA , the quests are beyond difficult, everyone is horny, and there are the cruel tests and trials that the Creators set in motion before they left the planet. Also , many terrifying creatures and trials and tribulations ahead of them . Nina must learn to trust herself as well as her new friends , and they must trust her as she learns how to use her abilities in New and inventive ways !!
I enjoyed this book immensely, and love how the story moves forward and many questions get answered and those that had no voice before become quite vocal.
A superb continuation of a phenomenal series !!!!!!!
So excited for MORE !!! 😁😁😁😁

Amazing Twists and Turns Back in Sonhadra

Nina, second generation of the survivors from the crashed prison-ship, has grown up and searches for love. She finds it sliding down a shaft and almost gets eaten! As she takes in the surrounding cages she sees 3 desperate animals with hunger foremost in their eyes. As she tries desperately to get through the bars she knocks over a pedestal and comes into contact with 3 misshapen heartstones! She reaches down to see them and touches them with her bloody hands! Her parents had told her about heartstones. But who do these belong to?
In the cages are 3 huge gaunt mean looking creatures. Then they start to change into humanoid strong, fleshy, muscular men! Nina feels the connection to these wild men. She also, in her mind, hears the cries of their tribe begging to be released.
Nina promises to help them find their tribe while learning about the men she bonded to.
Through many trials they find the tribe and the chaos explodes with what they find!

The Sonhadra series is the breeding ground of some of the most powerful and astounding males or valos the world has ever seen. Then add the prison-ship was doing outrageous experiments on these men and women without consent. The section of the ship housing the ladies lands on Sonhadra. The women escape and try to survive.

The Creators flew in from some distant world to be given a section of the world to use like a giant strategy game. They used the unsuspecting people to hybridize certain traits which created valos who could win but never be the same again.
The Creators then left a wildly changed diverse world and disappeared.
The women, and man, of this series find love in the craziest of places.

Don't miss this erotic series! Hot hot hot!

So good

This was a great story. Now I'll admit I haven't read all the Valos books, and I didn't find it that hard to keep up. But if you like to keep story details a surprise until you get to them with no spoilers at all then you should definitely read them in order. If you can deal with a few spoilers and don't mind shifting gears and going backwards in the timeline, then have at it and I don't think there's any thing that would stop you from understanding of enjoying this book alone/out of order. Ok how for the story itself it was great. Just some much packed into this one book. So many up and downs and tons of character growth. The story flows well and this world of wonderfully interconnected stories just continues to grow and flesh out in more ways than we could have hoped. Nina, Vortok, Aduun, and balir all went through so much and managed to come out the other side. Those men, wooo boy I'll take me some of that they were strong and caring and each had their own unique strengths and faults both new and old to contend with. And you could see some of their struggles with themselves mirrored in Nina. And Nina really found herself and becomes a strong woman without losing any of her kindness or sweetness. And that ending, I couldn't imagine a better HEA. This story has love, passion, growth, struggles in a variety of ways as well as action and suspense; it was a great book would recommend

Evokes empathy

As I got underway into this book, I had my doubts. The heroine’s actions seemed beyond stupid to the point she seemed immature. The choices she made seems more like something I’d expect from a seven year old. In a way, it made the adventure she ends up in seem forced.

Once beyond the forced beginning, the book was fabulous. The author portrayed the men in a way that made me completely empathetic to their situation. Plus, they were so unique in their personalities and characteristics.

Of all the books I’ve read this far in the series, this one had the most well thought-out adventure. I loved the trek the author took me through. It kept me captivated through out.

The book faltered again at the end. Once the adventure was over, the book seemed to drag through the closures. It just seemed to lose the edginess I’d enjoyed.

Overall I’d give this book 4.5 stars. A different, more compelling beginning and an ending that didn’t seem to drag and I would have said a solid 5 stars.

Finally completed this looonggg series! It was hell of a journey. I cried, laughed, cringed, was frustrated and even thought about dropping it many times but I prevailed through it all and have to say, I have a strange satisfaction blooming in my chest.

Now, about this book, at first I was intrigued and was quite looking forward to it. I enjoyed all the adventures the characters had to go through but at some point it felt like a bit Dora the explorer. The chemistry between the characters was there but at times it became overboard.

Interestingly enough, I loved the other book in the same series by this author, Undying, and gave it a 4 🌟. I loved Orishok. He was a total sweetheart but the male counterparts in this book just wasn't right. Something with this character just rubbed me the wrong way (except Balir), I don't know. Or maybe, it's just me.

Overall, A good book though the Mary Sueness of Nina ticked me off at times.

P.S:

I love RH genre. Don't get me wrong. But most of the RHs in this series just didn't give off the right vibe.

Great Addition

This was such a great addition to the series. There was not once I wanted to strangle the lead character for doing something stupid. Nor was she immature or such a cold unfeeling character. She had an inner strength and courage. I loved the main character. It was such a treat to read one that didn't drive me completely bonkers. My biggest issue with self publishing. Tstl main characters. Thankfully, there is none of that here. I just can't say enough how refreshing it was. Oh and the story had lots of plot and we still got plenty of hot, hot sex scenes without it overwhelming the story. So glad she didn't pull a Dustwalker sad ending. I've been leery about reading this author since that book. It was fantastic in till the end. So my trust is a little shaky with her. There was nothing about this story I didn't like! There was danger, a quest, romance and character growth. Yep, it had it all.

I do enjoy the Valos of Sonhadra books. Tiffany Roberts' newest one is a stand-out adventure in that world. The heroine, Nina, is the daughter (by adoption) of Quinn and Orishok (Undying). She was born to one of the women from the prison ship that crashed onto Sonhadros.

Once Nina was grown, Quinn and Orishok leave her in their city alone, as she wished, while they go to visit the stone Valos. She decided to go visit the human city while they were gone. During her trip, she has a grand adventure where she meets Aduun, Balir, and Vortok. Much trials and tribulation occur that will keep you on the edge of your seat and gasping at how some of the events occur.

There is an HEA for Nina. We get to see a little more of Quinn and Orishok (my favorite pairing of the original Valos books). I do think you could read this book on its own and still enjoy it.

What an amazing story!
Wow. A girl just wants to go out for a bit of adventure on her own and look what happens! Adventure, she gets. Nina drops into an incredibly dangerous situation with three valos raging out of control in beast form. Once that situation is defused, more adventures begin. It seems their ‘maker’ has set them up!
Although Aduun, Balir and Vortok are all drawn to Nina, it does not mean trust, acceptance or love will be part of that. As for Nina, will one of them be her mate? It’s something she’s been longing for.
Throughout these torturous tests, Nina learns more about these valos, their strengths, their unique abilities, as she hones her own.
The story has many twists and turns - each surprise leaving me wondering “What next?” And, yes, delicious romance!

DNF @ 67%

Honestly, I got bored. This author(s) great, but this time I couldn't finish. I'm not against forced proximity and pseudo-fated mate tropes, but the long journey was honestly the problem. I made it to their....3 or 4th location and it was just boring, perhaps a bit dragged out.

The monster smut was fine, and the guys were decent. The FMC was a bit dumb but I suppose that's to be expected from an isolated life. Not even the morsel of mystery that was tossed out at the beginning was enough to keep me going, that whole thing with Quinn saying she'll tell the FMC something upon her return - yeah don't care, too bored.

Still great writing though, just poor story execution this time.

Nice Addition to the Planet

It was a good addition to the series. The struggles she had with her mates seemed real but overall seemed kinda rushed. Her unique abilities worked well with them.

Spoilers:

I didn't really understand why the maker was hanging out on the planet when all the others were gone. Or how he had the power to create a world within a world. I also didn't understand how the new tribe was able to live with stones that weren't blooded. It seemed it was created just to add more options for additional stories for this type of valos tribe. Idk how I feel about that since it seemed forced.

Great Story

I read the first few books and it had a great story line. (Kinda like Island of Dr Moreau, where crazy doctors do experiments on people) I enjoyed book 7 and the author at the end says that book 12 picks up that story line …because at the end they adopt a little girl with telepathic abilities. I read book 12 and its now 15 years later and the little girl is about 23 and its her story. I was unsure of the male characters in this but the author did a great job with details and explaining what happened and what they are. PS- I was hoping they would wind up living in the castle lol! More privacy!!

Honestly, I'm more interested in the history of Sonhadra and the "Creators", which unfortunately has only been revealed in small portions. This book did give some added info about Kelsharn, Orishok's people, and the stone Valos. Still very curious about what motivated the creators, where they went, and why. The entire race couldn't simply be evil for the sake of being evil!

Will probably keep reading as long as they're kindle unlimited offerings, just to find out more. But 'harem' isn't my thing, and I skipped the graphic sections.

A great addition to the Sonhadra series.

I read the first books in the series as they came out several months ago, and enjoyed them all, all by different authors. This is another great instalment in the story.

Characters are well fleshed out, with full personalities the reader can connect with. Story has great pace and plotting, great adventure! I’ll give ms Roberts’ work another look to see what else she writes, as I enjoyed this quite a bit.
