[4½ stars] This book consists of three transcripts of seminars given by Howard Sasportas in the early 1990's. The first seminar is on finding vocational indicators in the birth chart, the second is about the lunar nodes, and the third is about astrological signatures commonly found in the charts of people drawn to the healing professions. Being transcripts of live teaching sessions is both the strength and the weakness of this book: it's far more lively and readable than many textbooks are, but using it as a reference may be more of a challenge since it's not as formally organized as a textbook would be. I found all three seminars to be interesting, but I think I'll get the most use out of the vocational seminar and the lunar nodes. I especially like that Sasportas dodged the easy "North Node: good, South Node: bad" mindset, stressing the need to integrate the strengths of both nodes into our lives. Despite being about twenty years old now, the material doesn't feel out-of-date. Overall, this is a fine work of psychological/archetypal astrology.

I am really excited to have received this book. It had gone out of print and I spoke with the Wessex Astrologer about re-publishing it, they were able to get permission, and it is NOW AVAILABLE!!!! If you are a serious student of astrology and want to expand your knowledge, I highly recommend it.

The author , who passed away, was a valued colleague of Liz Greene's, one of my most favorite writers of astrological material. They collaborated on a number of books on psychological astrology. This one that he wrote on his own, and A good deal of it focuses on vocation. vocation/calling is a special interest of mine, I love looking for a person's life purpose in the chart, and this book is all about that.

I love his conversational style, but this book is also a transcript of lectures he gave, and he really gets his audience involved.
I haven't quite finished it, but what I have read so far is well worth the read. GREAT STUFF!

Buen libro que trata, desde un punto de vista astrológico, el tema del destino, el papel de los nodos lunares en nuestra elección de destino y los factores que atraen a determinadas personas a las profesiones de ayuda.

took me while to finish! I realized books where I learn something take me longer to read. I enjoyed this book and the gems found in it.
