Heartbreaker

This was such a heartbreaker. I felt so sorry for Lia, but at the same time I was so angry with her for not telling anyone. I can understand it probably was embarrassing, though, especially when she was so against domestic violence from the outset. I cannot begin to understand what she went through, because I’ve never experienced anything like that, but I do know that abuse is devastating. No matter what kind. I’m so glad she got out, I just wish it was sooner than later. I really enjoyed this book, even though I hate the subject matter. Schmel took you there. I definitely felt the pain, sorrow, anguish, and anxiety from the characters! I look forward to reading many more books from this author. I definitely recommend this book.

Decent Read

I think the quotes about domestic violence and abuse by survivors and celebrities was very clever and thoughtful. These words made the story more believable and convincing of the seriousness of domestic violence. For me, I would have been out the door when he hit me when I told him I was pregnant. For me, being a mother means more to me than anything so risking the pregnancy would have sent me running. The horror of birthing a deceased baby had me in tears. I could only imagine the heartbreak Lia's character may have felt. Me, being more vicious and vindictive, would have had my brother and any dude I could think of beating Ted to death for taking my blessing. But, that's just me. Overall, this was a

BOY OH BOY !

Even though you, have a strong support system, or you are a pro at hiding the abuse. DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS A CRIME. I absolutely loved reading this book. I cried a great deal, some nerves were struck. However the Author did a superb job writing this 4 star book. Although I personally felt that Lia one of the main characters was to good/strong of a woman to deal with her weak a ** husband. Often times we tend to deal with the pain alone, and try too hide it. This is a first book I've read by this Author and not the last. I'll most definitely will be following this Author on Amazon.

Les is me

I can see so much of myself in Les. You don't want to stay in an abusive situation, but you are too scared to leave. I'm so glad that she found the courage and strength that she needed to stand up to Ted. So many times I wanted to snatch him up and do to him everything that he did to her. I cried, I laughed, and I shouted for joy. My son was looking at me like I had lost my mind. If you have ever experienced dv, then you know what I am talking about. Great job author.

Shattered

This DV story didn't resonate with me. It appeared Ted's abuse came out of left field; there were no warning signs, none of the manipulation and control or blatant deceit that precedes physical abuse. Lia appeared too strong and from too supportive of a background to hide her abuse. The story was decent though, just not believable to me. The lack of editing was a huge issue for me, especially since the main character was a teacher; it needed to be reflected in the writing.

Awesome Read

Awesome read I hope any woman/man that read this that is going thru some form abuse get out and away of the relationship. It was very informative especially how love can make the strongest person weak by making excuses for their abuser because of abuser inner demons. I luved how the book flowed from beginning to the end how it went from being perfect to getting bad between Lia and Ted...but luckily only the fighters survive

Shattered Love

This was a very emotional read! Lia’s and Ted story was very compelling and heartbreaking. My heart went out to Lia and I kept saying please tell somebody! When Lia finally stood up to Ted, I was so happy and relieved. No one deserves what she had been through!
This book needs to be at every high school library and all domestic violence shelters counseling sessions. The facts were well researched! This is a must read! Hats off to Shmel for a job well done!

🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

How can speak to someone about abuse if your letting your husband abuse you. Loved this story, it showed that no matter what any kind of abuse should not be tolerated and just because your life is falling apart ,didn't mean for you to take it out on other people. I glad she was able to get it together after her lose and go on with her life.

Satisfied Reader

I feel so bad for women to go through this pain. Les was a strong woman to hide her abuse knowing she had a strong support team behind her. Ted didn't deserve to breath the same air as any human. I wish Reggie would have got to him. Naquan came in at the right time cuz Les deserves to be happy even if its just friendship

Abuse isn't a love game.

Omg, this story spoke for many women who walked in Lia's shoes. Abuse isn't a game to be toyed with but a situation that could easily end one's life. Lia took the abuse until she no longer stand it, then she fought back.

Abuse in all forms

Lia suffered abuse in so many forms, verbal, physical, emotional and financial. Just as Lia never thought she would allow herself to be abused, this can happen to anyone. I pray for anyone dealing with it.

Both sides of the story

I liked that I got to read and experience the female/abused's story and feelings she went thru. As well as the male/abuser's story and mentality as to why a man would want to hurt a woman so badly.

There are plenty of women who went through or going through what Lia went through with Ted. Lia had finally said enough was enough and did something about it.

👍

It's a shame that women allow themselves to be used as his human punching bag... It's, always a wonderful thing to read that they left and was not carried out in s body bag

Wow!!

This was a tough story, yet a necessary story to tell. So many suffer in silence at the hands of their abuser. I just stumbled across this book. It is eye opening.
