Civilization exists by geologic consent, subject to change without notice. The land beneath Yellowstone's caldera is hot. Huffing and puffing. Moving, stretching and bulging. Everything has a boiling point. Yellowstone has reached the point of no return.
The Yellowstone Series, a disaster thriller from international bestselling author, Bobby Akart, takes the reader on a thrill ride as a cataclysmic event of extinction level proportions ticks away like a time bomb, awaiting its moment. Millions of people visit the Yellowstone National Park every year blissfully unaware they are on top of the greatest killer man has ever known - the Yellowstone Supervolcano.
Volcanoes are the Earth's way of letting off steam. Deep beneath the surface of the planet, excess heat builds up, and it seeks a way to vent. Like an overcrowded bus on a sweltering summer day, the overheated magma stews in its own madness, eventually allowing pent-up frustrations to boil over until it releases its fury - its Inferno - upon the world above.
Yellowstone is not an ordinary volcano. It is an extraordinary killer that will show itself in due time.
The eruption of the Yellowstone supervolcano will be more than a spectacle to grab our attention. It will be the end of the world as we know it.
ABOUT THE YELLOWSTONE SERIES
Volcanoes are the Earth's way of letting off steam. While most people look at volcanic eruptions as natural disasters, the fact of the matter is, without them, the Earth would explode. Deep beneath the surface of the planet, excess heat builds up, finding a way to vent. Like an overcrowded bus on a hot summer day, the overheated magma stews in its own madness, allowing pent-up frustrations to boil over, until it releases its fury - its HELLFIRE - upon the world above.
Yellowstone is the most potentially explosive, violent, deadly, active volcano on our planet and scientists agree, a catastrophic eruption is inevitable. Yellowstone is extraordinary in its potential and is quite simply, Earth's greatest killer. You've been warned.

He's achieved Amazon Top 5 Author status in both fiction and non-fiction genres, Amazon Kindle All Star and Top 50 Amazon Author (#35) and Top 25 Best Selling Book on Amazon Charts (Yellowstone #25). "He's right up there with James Patterson, David Baldacci, Brad Thor and others that write thrillers. To me he actually surpasses them.” He has written more than 80 novels in the disaster, survival, medical and political thriller genres.
This author is a blank blank, blank, blankety blank. In more generous terms, he is a libertarian and a misogynist. Oh, "women must be tamed (direct quote)," "government is always bad," et cetera, ad nauseam. Don't read this author. Ever.
If you have been reading the articles on Yellowstone National Park, you have seen that there is new activity occurring. New fissures have opened up and geysers that haven’t erupted for years are now erupting and with more frequency. The scientists are saying that there is no imminent danger of an eruption from the Yellowstone Caldera…just as they kept saying in the newest series Yellowstone by Bobby Akart. But one woman, Dr. Ashby Donavon, a volcanologist, knew better. Having lived through the eruption of Mount Pinatubo which claimed the lives of her loving parents, Ashby has made it her life work to study volcanoes in order to help save lives if and when the unthinkable happens. She had tried to warn people that the Project Hydro which was to cool the volcano down by injecting water into the magma chamber, hence causing steam for energy was causing more damage than doing any good to the Earth. Many poo-poed her thoughts and now it was too late to do anything about it. Yes, the massive killer was rearing its ugly head and waging an all-out war on the area. Spewing poisonous gas and ash, it will take no prisoners and leave death and destruction in its wake. This second book in this series is filled with action, the will to survive, death and is very emotional. I have such an incredible liking for the characters already and was on the edge of my seat while reading of their escape from the inferno that was now razing everything in its path. What they encounter on their escape is nothing short of miraculous though totally harrowing. Not only are they running from the biggest threat to the world, they must also face the unsavory characters who are also trying to survive at all cost. As with any catastrophe be it earthquake, hurricane, tornado, etc, the worst in mankind comes out and survival is the only thing on their mind. Facing these new dangers not only brings Jake and Ashby closer together but also increases their will to survive along their journey to reach California. Bobby Akart has truly outdone himself with this series. Not only with the brilliant characters, the realism of the eruption, but also with the in-depth research he has put into this story giving us a firsthand look at what makes a volcano tick and ultimately come to life. I can truly recommend this series with no hesitation to anyone who loves a fantastic post-apocalyptic story or one of survival. Not only are you getting a top notch story but also get one with survival tips put in along the way.
Take some deep breaths before you start this one, because you will need the extra oxygen. If you have any questions about what a caldera or magma chamber is, hopefully those were cleared up in Yellowstone: Hellfire. For a work of fiction, it is loaded with facts that are bound to peak your interest. When we left them in Yellowstone: Hellfire, Jake, Ashby, Rita and Dusty, where being helicoptered as far away from the volcano as possible. The devastation was immense, like nothing the world has ever seen, but scientist knew could happen. They make it as far as Sheep Mountain in central Idaho before crashing landing 10,000 feet up, due to the effects of the eruption. 200 miles away is not far enough. The nearest town is Challis, which is a 30 mile trek under the best of conditions, and these are not the best of conditions. Smooth sailing now, right? Um, no. Things are about to speed up and I suspect this was the intent of the author. It has been 100 days and the Yellowstone volcano isn't done yet. The caldera continues to grow, spewing ash into the air. To top it off, there is a manhunt going on for a bunch of criminals, right in the direction they need to travel. In search of diesel fuel for their motor home (which they bought in Challis) , they come across an abandoned farm house and plan to spend the night. Jake and Ashby are invaded by 6 would be bad guys in dune buggy's. You had to know they would run into the anarchists.. They won't be attacking anyone any more. After fast talking their way through another road block, they finally arrive at the Mad House, a cabin which belongs to Jake's parents. Nice cliff hanger at the end. Okay you can breath again.
The second installment by Bobby Smart is just as good as book one of the series. Full of adventure, danger and surprises, Mr. Akart leaves us dangling on the edge of the cliff as we impatiently wait for book 3, Fallout. The theme of Yellowstone: Inferno is survival in the difficult conditions following the eruption of the Yellowstone super volcano. Facing adversaries such as ash that is several feet deep, injuries, and even facing wild animals - including the human animal, are critical to enduring the hardships and stress of living through a cataclysmic event. Mr. Akart's k pledge and research of his subject give his Yellowstone books believability. The science behind his books is accurate to the point that makes the reader want to do more research on their own concerning the possibility of an eruption of this magnitude happening within our lifetime and how it would effect life as we know it. He really makes you think...
Yellowstone has erupted and our main characters are in flight heading west, when disaster strikes. The overall story was ok, but not as good as the 1st book. Mainly a tale of survival but not much plot as Jake, Ashby and others try to make it safely west to Jake's parents old cabin in California.
Will continue the series and see how the Yellowstone impact on the characters and the rest of the country plays out, but this story is mainly centered on them and who they encounter along the way.
Dr. Donovan predicted that Project Hydro drilling into the mantle below Yellowstone would trigger an eruption. She's really hating being right!
Rick Younger, head of the Yellowstone Volcanic Observatory and executive of Project Hydro, really thought that piercing the unstable magma chamber under Yellowstone and pumping water into the mantle would drive turbines to create energy was safe and was a good idea. Dr. Ashby Donovan thought otherwise and was vocal in her opposition. Dr. Donovan and her two students, Dusty Holder and Rita Charles, were part of NASA's VIPER program studying volcanoes around the planet. Immediately on beginning the study of the Yellowstone Caldera, observed that Project Hydro was destabilizing the magma chamber below the caldera. Forest fires caused by lava reaching the surface, poison gas discharging through fissures, and an earthquake induced tsunami swept over the Yellowstone lake were signs of an eminent eruption of the super volcano. In this case, she really hated being right.
The amazing cast of characters brilliantly guide the storyline through the politics of disaster and the struggles of survival. Painstakingly crafted and lovingly guided through the action, the heroes of this tale lead us carefully through the horror of a world-ending event. They show us the methods of survival as they navigate through the dangers while their relationship becomes more romantic. So lovingly developed, Jake and Ashby are like members of our family, best friends we've known for years, and the best kind of humanity we wish we could know.
The story here is Yellowstone super volcano and it's capability to end the world as we know it. Be it prophesy or good story telling, the author has once again brought us a masterpiece of horror. Whether it's for the amazing story, the warm characters, or the methods of preparing for survival, this series is a must read! Don't take my word for it. Read it yourself and tell me you don't agree! Betcha can't!
An exciting, believeable account of what a Yellowstone eruption might be like.
Grabs you from the first page and holds you till the end , leaves you wanting more! An exciting read with characters you get to know and want for friends. I have been to Yellowstone many, many times and feel like I'm walking thru the park with these scientists and the Ranger. I know the locations and the view/sights. I could feel and hear the bison stampede, smell the sulphur in the air from the geyers. Half of me wanted to be back there, and the other half was glad I wasn't there when the action started! This book really grips you with the action. I started reading this on the plane and was sorry we landed and I had to stop reading to deplane!
I’m a Wyoming native. I grew up only a 100 miles from Yellowstone. I never realized as I drove across the scenic sites of Yellowstone, that I was right on top of a huge caldera. You can realize the power of Yellowstone when you’re near Powell and see a mountain right in the middle of the flats. It was blown out of Yellowstone and landed upside down. It’s called Heart Mountain and the oldest strata is at the top and the youngest is at the bottom. His story puts you right in the middle of the action. I like how real places are referenced, along with real facts. It’s just so real and riveting, that you can’t put the book down.
Most people read apocalyptic fiction not because they think the world is going to end but ....they love to be entertained. Being entertained I was.
This story is a tad different from his other novels. It is also a love story. I thought at first the characters were going to be squeaky clean. I glad the adult is in the book. Always enjoyed the wealth of information we receive about the crisis. There is always something to learn in each of his books.
Akart skillfully entertains again. The second part to his Yellowstone series continues the realistic depiction of them fleeing and surviving the eruption and subsequent ash fallout. I feel awkward heaping more and more praise each time I finish his books, often repeating myself (at least, I feel like I do); so, I'll just say that he is consistent and always well-written. Often times, they're better than the previous work.
Kind of mad he cut off right in mid-scene, though. That was kind of a dick move, Bobby.
This is the continuing exciting novel about the infamous Yellowstone volcano which has started to erupt violently. It's a monumental thrill ride for readers as survivors struggle as the world may end for everyone. In fact, our lives may end should this deadliest volcano erupt. It's not a question of 'if' but 'when.' Intriguing and very scientifically informative. Read the first volume before this one. They are both stellar.
A BA. Apocalyptic Novel (2) Where YVO. Blows it's Top
BA. has. penned the 2nd novel of a Post- Apocalyptic Event. TH I erupts and the helicopter out favorites are in crashes in the mountains in Northern Idaho.. The chopper pilots are killed as is the older science person after the crash. The 2nd book shows their survival and escape from hostile conditions. This is an excellent read for the genre.....DEHS
Another amazing book from Author Bobby Akart! Mr. Akart has a brilliant way of creating a story where you literally feel as though you are part of the journey. The research and knowledge he puts forth is outstanding. I really enjoyed this second book and can't wait for more.
I keep reading different authors and the spread of genre that I read amazes me. It’s so wide spread from ok authors to great ones. Most keep my interest fairly well but Mr. Akart keeps building and building in his Yellowstone series and captures all of my attention. Great story line and a new subject to dwell on. Must read!!!
There’s not enough that can be said for the knowledge the author has on the topics involved in his books. From history, volcanoes, survival even rock climbing. It’s refreshing to read stories with such info, instead of the non researched books. This book as his others are always worth the read.
Enjoyable and scary scenario with no place to hide!
Well written with interesting characters. I especially enjoyed the graphics and maps on Yellowstone. Also well edited for those that hate errors, I only noticed three but I try not to notice them. I look forward to starting book #3.
OK, so things slowed down a bit in this volume, but I still enjoyed the read. An easy, but entertaining read. I have to admit that some of Akart's political thinking seeped into the book, and I can't help but think that will intensify into Book #3. Have to be honest, though, I think I've read enough. The story in book #2 dragged out a bit.
The continuation of the Yellowstone cataclysm is not a disappointment! Bobby Akart continues with twists and thrills. The thing is, they could really happen. I recommend the book!
I'm disgusted! Finished this book, now I gotta wait for Book 3 to be published. Another page turner, can't put down book. I am amazed at the talent this writer has. Always thorough, always interesting.
Yellowstone is showing nature at it's worse while our main characters are scrambling to survive. Thousands have perished and it's only going to get worse. This edge of your seat tale of survival, loss and impending doom grabs you from the get go and never lets up
While I enjoyed the first one, the second book in this series has characters who are downright cartoonish, the trajectory of the violence and how quickly society fell apart, and the clear anti-progressive political messaging drowned out what could otherwise be a fascinating story.
Still very interesting from the perspective of the geology and aftermath, but I grew tired of the characters and the politics. Also I hated how Dusty and Rita were killed off. I'm not going to continue with the series.

Book 2 stars with the Yellowstone Supervolcano's first eruption. Ashley, her two students, and the park ranger escape in a helicopter flying West into Idaho. Volcanic ash freezes the aircraft's motor and they crash on a high !mountain peak in central Idaho. The plane breaks up. Both pilots are killed. Ashley is banged up and dislocated her shoulder. Dusty has several broken bones and head injury. Rita is trapped on a life and unable to move her arms. Jake is just banged up. They find a cave and many of the supplies they put in the plane. They treat Dusty, stabilise him, but he is in a coma. Jake climbs down to Rita but a major earthquake knocks her off the ledge to a 1000 foot fall. They recover a stretcher and carry Dusty some 30 miles down off the mountain to a small town's medical clinic but Dusty dies. They buy a camper and continue their trip to northern California were Jake's father has forest home. Their journey is hectic but they make it after being stacked by 6 men. The Yellowstone Volcano continues to erupt and grows from 50 miles to 100 miles diameter swallowing up entire mountain ranges around Yellowstone, erupting lava , ash and poisoned gas. The story continues into Book 3 after their arrival in California and realization they can't stay their.
Excellent second book in this, so far, excellent series. Survival is now the theme since the eruption has occurred and the difficulties in this scenario are well discussed. I was a bit surprised that Ashby didn't quickly tell the medical personnel in the clinic that everyone should be wearing a mask (though the doctor knew what was happening and didn't make a big point about it either). I was also very sad at the loss of some good characters, though this was be a reality in such a disaster. There was an odd diversion in the plot to grumbling about post-sixties and the negative effect on everything. It seemed very out of place and, yes, I'm tired of so many authors ranting about the destructive that the liberals have caused. It hardly seems appropriate in a story about an erupting super-volcano that doesn't care about any political persuasion. It put a slight damper on the story for me. That being said, the ending was quite exciting and now I want the next book to find out what happens.
Strictly speaking, this is post-apocalyptic, as the apocalypse started at the end of book one. However, it doesn't really feel particularly post-apocalyptic. Mostly because the action stays with the small group of main characters, so we, the reading audience, don't get much of a feel for how this is affecting the world. Wider effects are mentioned, but there is no real engagement with the audience.
The pacing remains similar to the first book in the series - very fast - and there is no real character development, none of which is surprising for a disaster novel. I didn't enjoy it as much as the first book, but I am still keen to continue with the series, and it looks like the 2 remaining books may have somewhat of a more global scope.
Akart certainly seems to have done his research into volcanology, and his science is basically sound. Just as in the first book, he has kept politics mostly out of the story, although I get the impression that his political views are far to the right of mine, just from the few references that have been made.
