“I want to figure out if this is love.” The summer trip’s whirlwind of events has left Yu in a daze, with barely any summer vacation left. But it’s not over yet, and she’s eager to move on and find a new love while the Black and White Princes remain at the summer home! When Yu gets an invitation to a middle school reunion, could she find the romance she wants where she least expects it?
I devoured all 19 volumes of Defying Kurosaki-kun over the last week. This is a beautiful story of Yu and Haruto's relationship as it grows from nothing to sweet romance. Haruto's always been a loner except for Takumi who's been his only friend until Yu comes into his life. The story is about the relationship between Yu and Haruto but Takumi is such a intricate part of the story.
I really loved Yu as a character she's this bright ball of sunshine who's reinvented herself now that she's in high school and growing so much into this character you just cheer on. Haruto is cold and demanding in the beginning but we get to see him slowly start to grow as the series progresses. He builds friendships, reconnects to his family and he learns so show Yu how much she means to him.
I truly enjoyed the series even if I had a few moments where I wanted to reach through the book and stab Haruto for being stupid. it's a whirlwind sweet love story that I'm so sad to see ending. I wish that this series wouldn't have ended because I wanted more of Yu and Haruto's story. I wanted Takumi to find his happy ever after too. I do hope maybe one day we will get more. This is one of my top favorite series. Highly recommend if you are a fan of the grumpy/sunshine trope it fits really well. The artwork is beautifully done. I loved it so much the whole story.
Ouuuuuuu shirakawa was about to make me soo mad like I'm so glad I was proven wrong before writing this review. Now he's why I say this because I was originally led to think that he was shallow enough to hinder his friend kurosaki from the spotlight and what not cause he's so used to the girls attention and what not but when he was originally telling him to stay out of the lime light for his safety and the sake of staying at school and not getting expelled was actually really thoughtful of him now don't get me wrong I still don't like him for what he's doing to yuu and kurosaki by getting in the way because that's douchy but at least he has some what of a heart now for the introduction of kurosakis father what's up with him abusing his son for wanting to enjoy highschool?! That's messed up hitting him and threatening to stop funding the activities because he wants to participate with people who are finally warming up to his cool exterior little by little?! He's robbing or trying to rob his son of that and for that he's automatically hated by me for now unless he changes
So, I didn't expect a whole gang to come out and try and cause trouble at the festival. Also, THE MC'S COWORKER WHAT?! I wasn't entirely ready for this poor guy to snap but it sure did happen. I'm glad that gang was dealt with, I was STRESSING.
Wishing another male lead will apper so that this two guys will stop this bullshit. I know I feel so bad for her being pulled around by them like this. At this point Kaji being the new ML is even better I don’t care anymore fr. It’s so frustrating
Review to come. 3.5 stars overall. I liked that we got a bit more insight to Kurosaki-san's past alongside the events of the sports day, but there were some things that I thought were "ehhhh" in terms of the drama here, particularly towards the end. Still a solid series though.
Blah sports day is filled with drama.. But I did like that Kurosaki sat with Yu and her parents and ate lunch. God, I’m hoping for character development for Kurosaki because although, I do enjoy a brooding, grumpy sadist, I really like when they fall in love more LOL.
So far these books are pretty interesting. I don’t care that he calls her Fido but shrug 🤷🏻♀️. We’ll see what happens next. Quick fast paced enjoyable.
I'm enjoying how the characters all look out for and care for each other, even though they won't admit it. Such a slow burner, it's making me need to read more.
The mind games continue. A reminder to all this is fiction and not a way to actually treat others. It is fun to read this wild roller coaster. Sports day is always fun. I am rooting for Yu to have a happy ending.
