Une jeune femme est seule dans un espace blanc, sans murs, entièrement vide à l’exclusion d'une porte, qu'elle n'arrive pas à ouvrir. Cette femme d'aspect fragile se révèle rapidement être terriblement curieuse et pugnace. Elle va de l'avant et franchit les obstacles au fur et à mesure qu'ils se dressent devant elle. Dans ce monde sans haut ni bas, la jeune femme marche, vole, dans on ne sait quel but. Hypnotisé, le lecteur se laisse entraîné par ce trip onirique envoûtant, dans un lieu définit uniquement par le cadre des cases et un trait virtuose de couleur noire ou rose saumon.Now a été réalisé en 100 jours, comme un exercice de style, par son auteur, le jeune prodige thaïlandais Art Jeeno, acclamé dans son pays et primé au Japon. Complètement onirique, sans aucune parole, ni aucun son, Now est une belle expérience de lecture et une brillante démonstration de la capacité de la bande dessinée à mettre en scène le mouvement, les sensations physiques et à créer des univers singuliers avec une économie de moyens confondante. Cette première publication du travail d'Art Jeeno en France sera suivie d'autres ouvrages courant 2018.

19/20 Juste trop court. Mais si beau, si doux, si brutal, si triste, si touchant. Si révoltant. Il a fait écho à ma dépression, ma solitude, mon introversion, et mon autisme.

The 100 days of creation "exercise in style" is the only reason I don't heavily penalize for the lack of background. It's pleasant to look at from the kinetic anatomical standpoint.

There is no color like the cover- only pink pencil used strictly on the door and the opening of the ball bubble. Curious about why, the look of the latter got me thinking vulvically -which the doorway supports symbolically- but I cannot see why such an association would be made of her forced through her own sex.

That main description above mine here, that I just read afterwards to try to make more sense of this, is very misleading because she was not curious, persistent etc. since hands had to push her through her movements until the final setting.

Subjectively speaking, I got the impression that the door was NOT locked- that she could not get herself to open it and was forced through by the efforts of others which she unmistakably rebelled physically and emotionally against along the way. After all, the knob was turned by her hand, when she was smushed-face on the door, not forced or key penetrated. That interpretation resonated with me personally about being stuck in life, hesitating upon opportunities "right in front of me", thus having people/society's expectations figuratively shoving me towards the path upon which I should proceed.

I got no associations with the rest when she was underwater playing with the ball of balls.

Cet album très court est complètement silencieux. Ou du moins silencieux en parole.
Il n'y en a pas. Nous observons une jeune fille dans une pièce blanche avec uniquement une porte...qu'elle n'arrive pas à ouvrir. Au début.

Cet album est étrangement touchant, il nous tient en haleine. J'avais envie que cette jeune fille réussisse, qu'elle passe les épreuves, qu'elle continue d'avancer.

C'est vraiment beau. Et le graphisme m'a également beaucoup plu.
