K19 Security Specialist Gunner Godet is so deep undercover that nobody on his team knows where he is or what he's signed up for. And now that he's vowed to help a sexy and mysterious woman from the dirtiest Russian organization in all of Eastern Europe, his only chance at survival lies in her hands—and arms. Luckily, Gunner refuses to give his heart to a woman ever again. Otherwise, he'd be in more danger than he ever imagined.
Zaryana "Raketa" Ivashov wants out—out of the game. But pulling out of this "political party" means defecting and trusting an enemy. As Gunner and Raketa journey for safety, their attraction grows stronger, their passion undeniable. But can two sworn enemies find happiness in a world of danger and betrayal?
This is a standalone, just like the first book in the series (Razor), but besides the couple's story, there's also a background plot connecting the two books.
Gunner and Zary were supposed to hate each other, but life, danger and the need for protection put them together in a way they couldn't, nor wanted to, ignore. Despite their growing feelings, they had huge issues about trusting someone else (understandably so), and that almost ruined what was growing between them a lot of times.
When they finally accepted each other, embraced their feelings and put their distrust aside, their love blossomed beautifully.
More than the first book, I felt this one required knwoledge about their backgrounds that I wasn't exactly privy to. I could read and enjoy their story, but with so many different names and characters and so many references to the past, it was a little confusing at times. That didn't stop me from enjoying and liking this book, though.
There are many positive things about this series, as well as many negative. First, I like the K-19 team. The characters have depth. Gunner is a man with a conscience and loves deeply. From the outside Raketa comes across as the hard assassin, but she has an innocence to her. There love story hasn’t run smooth, and there were certainly trust issues. Through it all, I never doubted their love. This book confused me from the very beginning. Who is Lena? She wasn’t in the first book of this series. What’s the background between her and Gunner? It’s seems her presence in his life, crafted the man he become, as he left Paps behind. As like the first book, this one is also very long. There are many characters. I had a difficult time keeping everyone straight, especially with foreign and code names. If I hadn’t purchased the Series 1-4 set, I am not sure I would continue with this series.
A Well written and romantic slow burning story. Finding that Gunner has loved Raketa for years but they worked for different agencies. Gunner and Raketa are stubborn, tough, strong, have big trust issues, and seem almost damaged beyond repair. The work for different agencies that have kept them apart along time. However, she has asked for Gunners help in deflecting from the Russian KGB. You will have love, deflection, lots of suspense, intrigue, and drama in this awesome slow burning romance love story. That is second in this series but can be read as a standalone.

Terrific second story in the K19 Security Solutions featuring Gunner *swoon*. A fabulous slow burn romance between our hero and a kicka$$ Zary aka Raketa aka Rocket Girl. Lots of action, suspense and drama in this thrilling romance suspense. Looking forward to the next story in the series.

Gunner’s story is the next in the K19 series, a spin-off of the Butler Ranch series. I’ve been intrigued with Gunner since we first met him and was eager to read an early copy of his and Raketa's story. In it we see a softer, deeper side to the special operative, surprising both the reader and Gunner himself. It’s always great entertainment when the tough, alpha hero discovers he actually is capable of tenderness and love. However, this is pretty far from a hearts and flowers romance because Gunner and Raketa are both tough, strong and stubborn and trust is a big issue with each of them.
Although this book would best be enjoyed after reading the others in the series, Slade does a good job of filling in the backstories without bogging down the narrative so the reader gets the big picture. The K19 guys, along with several other agencies, are still after the bad guy from whom they rescued Raketa, a man who also has ties to another member of the K19 family. Plenty of plotlines as well as the romance are resolved in this book, with just enough left open to make me eager for the next book in the series. With a delicious slow burn romance, lots of drama and plenty of suspense, this is one wild ride you won’t want to miss.

Even though they "met" years ago on opposite sides of a rifle scope, these two instinctively knew right then that they each would have a significant impact on the other's life. Their work for different intelligence agencies kept them apart for a long time, but finally, after the revelations in Razor's story about who Makar Petrov really is and that he has kidnapped Zary (code name Raketa), Gunner is ready to pull out all the stops and make her his. If he can get there in time.
As with the previous books by this author, this is a standalone romance set in a larger world of international criminals and the men and women tasked with bringing them to justice. K19 is neck-deep in Petrov's affairs already, so they're on the move to track him down at any cost.
Gunner's romance with his Rocket Girl develops against the edge-of-your-seat action and suspense, and it's breathtaking in its depth and scope. These are two people who have been damaged almost beyond repair, yet they dive headfirst into a love so deep, so consuming, that it's all they can do to come up for air long enough to stay alive.
The story has a wonderfully satisfying HEA, leaving us cheering for the entire K19 team and looking forward to the next story in this amazing series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
First things first!! I loved seeing Gunner come unglued especially after Lena. Everyone is hooking up and everything about their team, the original team that is, is changing. Gunner doesn't understand I mean come on he's a mans man and only missions count and let's just bypass the pleasantries and get down to business. Are you still talking?? Is there a point?? You must not be talking to Gunner cos you're still standing. Yeah all man. But when the mission goes sideways and helping a friend becomes more. Between his secrets and here's there's some huge gaps and issues that have to be worked out. Can two that have always kept things close to the vest really open up and give room for trust to grow. It's not a question and for them it's something that if they want it bad enough it will have to happen and soon. There are lives at stake and the stakes are growing by leaps and bounds.
Love it this author doesn't skimp on intrigue, action or passion. The passion doesn't steal the show though not like these hunks of Alpha and the women they love. . . which now include kids. Gunner is screwed, well the old Gunner is.
A Sexy Edgy Romance💚💙 I love the K19 Series and can't say enough good about each book. Gunner is all alpha, has a heart, but a few demons lurk inside from what he's done and seen. He's a born protector and killer when necessary. Raketa is also alpha, with a heart that has a wall around it for self preservation. Trained for UR as their Op, she wants out now, and wants Gunner to help. These two together are so hot, so hot headed, and not at all sure if love even works or fits in their lives. Gunner and Raketa give you ALL the emotions as they explore their connection, stay alive and get the bounty off her head. Not so simple, when you don't know your past or who to trust anymore. Each book is stand alone with a feel good ending. The back story however, will keep you wanting more and more. Ms Slade, you again took me on a journey that had me lost to reality.

When Gunner first meets Raketa, she takes his breath away but they don't have the time or the chance to do anything about it as they are both in the middle of a mission. On opposite sides. Over the years though, they begin to trust each other and help each other out. What Gunner doesn't realize is that Raketa fell in love with him at first glance. Now, he's realizing that he's got some pretty strong feelings for her too and to complicate things, he has to take her underground to protect her after rescuing her. 💕❤️️💕
I adore this series! This book is the second in the K19 Security Solutions and is a continuation of the Butler Ranch series. This whole series has been well written and developed. Each book does add on to the book before but it can easily be read as a standalone. 😉💗

From the last story with Razor and how he fell for Ava. This story centers on Gunner and his attraction for the Rocket Girl, the Russian assassin. He;s on a mission to find her. Raketa is being held captive and while there hears someone she hasn;t heard in decades. Then she is rescued by Gunner and taken back to the US. They arrive on an island owned by him. There Gunner is trying to get the truth of why she was being held by Petrov. Slowly with a fight to have her trust him, she gives up some info that sends him and his friends to the compound they freed her from. He leaves her behind and she seethes. Then he returns and now they need to plan how to get her mother freed. Action, adventure and romance all rolled into one. The members of the team from the other stories all roll into this in a show of support for Gunner and his Rocket Girl. Fantastic story and read!!

Whilst this is Gunner and Raketa's book the plot is a continuation from the first book, so you do need to have read book one before this one as it picks up where that left off. Gunner is determined he is going to rescue his 'Rocket Girl' but he should know that nothing is that simple add in that Raketa doesn't want to be rescued and Gunner's headache just got bigger! She is no wailing princess awaiting rescue, she is a warrior, a deadly assasin and she is already plotting her escape...she needs an accomplice, not a hero! Their chemistry is explosive, their passion is steamy but her captor is depraved and will stop at nothing to claim his prize. Not only are they battling a psychopath, and dodging an assassin but there are double agents, unknown family members, corruption and secrets. If anyone can put the puzzle pieces together it will be K19 but the pressure is on and time is running out, it is edge of your seat stuff as the clock ticks down to zero....
GUNNER is the second book in the K19 series by Heather Slade. It is a story of love, defection, double agents and intrigue. It is a standalone book; however, the story would be more enhanced by reading Razer first. Raketa is a defecting Russian agent/assassin who has a price on her head but is also the daughter of a man wanted by numerous countries. The author does an excellent job of weaving a tale that keeps you guessing until the very end. There are many threads to this story and Ms. Slade manages to tie them together in a tightly knit fashion. While it is fiction, the plot is filled with many agencies that are the enforcers of the world: MI6, CIA, the equivalent of the KGB, just to name a few. Well written and romantic without graphic sex! 5 stars all the way!

This is the second book I have read by Heather Slade. Gunner has been loved Zaryana “Raketa” Ivashov for years, since their first night together. When she refuses her latest assignment given by United Russia she turns to Gunner’s for help. United Russia puts a high price out on her head. In return Gunner wants her help in taking out criminal mastermind Petrov, who is the father of Ava, wife of Gunner’s best friend Razor, her twin Aine and also Raketa. Raketa who was orphaned, discovers that her parents are actually alive and who they are. There are many moments in this book that have you on the edge with suspense as Gunner works to protect Raketa from UR and Petrov. All the while falling more in love with each but can they learn to trust one another?

I have to say when the guys of K19 fall in love it's not easy by any definition.
Gunner knew Zaryana 'Raketa' Ivashov was the one for him when she didn't shoot him on a mission. She works for United Russia and wants to defect. She couldn't carry out her last mission, so returning would be suicide.
While helping protect Razor's now wife Ava she ended up kidnapped by Petrov. Now Gunner needs to find her as well as get the five million dollar bounty off her head.
Once Gunner has her he takes her into protection on his island. It's here we get insight into Raketa's life.
So many twists and turns as K19 works to figure out who the woman was Raketa saw and what her real relationship to Petrov is.
Edge of your seat suspense, hold your breath action and lots sizzle make this a page turning read.
This is the story of Gunner & Raketa. Gunner is part owner of K19 Security Solutions. Raketa works for Russia. They had met when he was younger and on a mission, and she was supposed to kill him and another. She let them go. They think about each other since that day. She comes back to help K19 and makes a deal with Gunner to help her defect. Part of the mission went wrong. She was captured by the person K19 was supposed to capture or kill. He goes under the radar to try and rescue her, while three organizations including K19 is working to find her captor. There are a lot twists in this story, which make it a lot more interesting. Trust is the biggest issue in this story. There is an HEA ending. Great second book to this series.
book 2. this was a lot more intense with lots of action. The trust issues see-sawed between gunner and rakita made me almost want to scream it went on and on. I see gunners character Is quicker a direct with no tiptoeing around anything. another alpha bites the dust and more to come....steam was hot hot and hot. but the HEA always brings them together and then some. very Intricate plot and the eastern names were confusing. I had to keep my mind on the game. the basic western culture that rakita had to adjust to made me smile. it was great to hear old characters. although the invincibles don't pop up here and I know them really well. so K19 was new. I see other books by Heather that link them unfortunately aren't on audible. Stephanie is bloody awesome. her accents are brilliant and brings the characters to life.
This is the second book in the K19 Security Solutions series and is a truly superior read. I think although I read the book in series order, that it can be read as a stand-alone novel. The characters have depth and charisma, leaping into the mind of the reader and taking up residence in the imagination. The story itself is full of heart-stopping emotion, twining through gut-wrenching intrigue and adventure.
Amazing story-line, filled with compelling lead characters – A must read for just about everyone. If the book’s description catches your interest… Go for it! 5 out of 5 from me, if only because I can’t give the book any more stars.
Ms Slade is a writer to watch for in the future – I think I may already be addicted to her work!
Gunner and Raketa are quite the couple and this book is an adventure between the pages. Out of all of the ladies in this series I have to say I am most drawn to Raketa and not just because she is one strong lady, but because when she is with her man she lets her softer side come out and shows that leading the life of an agent hasn't hardened her.
it was a challenge to figure out all of the foreign names and places but at the same time it is so interesting to be able to visit them through the authors words and descriptions, Loosing yourself in the characters, places and events that take place is why I enjoy reading so much and I hope you are able to find as much pleasure in this book as I have.
Gunner is working undercover for the K19 Security. He finds out someone he knew (Zaketa) is in need of his help. Finding out who Makar Petrov really is, he has kidnapped Zary (Zaketa) and since Gunner is attracted to her, he has to save her. Espionage and drama abound in this book and makes for an awesome and encompassing story. Love these books!!! With both Raketa and Gunner having such deep demons, it is amazing to read how these two get together. While you can read this alone, it would be better to have read some of the books before this. I need to go back and start from the beginning. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Definitely recommend this whole series! Gunner by Heather Slade was a good story of intrigue suspense and love. This is book 2 in the K19 Security series and was a good addition. This was a well written story that captures you from the start of the story till the end. The characters are strong, maybe a bit vulnerable and definitely intriguing. Gunner is a K19 Security Specialist who is working very deep undercover even his own people don’t know what or where he is. Zarynan “Raketa” is tired of the game and is ready for the game to be over. Gunner is a good guy who has demons, but is willing to help Raketa pull out of the game. I thought this was a great story with plenty of twists and turns and defsome up and downs. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Love romantic suspense and I could see where this story could have been great. Unfortunately, I did not realize until I started reading this story that the previous books (both the first book in this series and the Butler Ranch series) should really be read to understand what is going on. I felt like I was dropped into the middle of the story and there are lots of storylines that I was lost in reading. Now, that is not the fault of the author, I just wish I knew before I began reading this story. It was a little choppy for me but maybe not for others. Overall, I liked the story.
I received a complimentary copy from the Booksprout.
Gunner has seen his teammates find their forever matches, but he has vowed not to fall for a woman again. Raketa “Rocket girl” a Russian assassin is making a deal with the K19 team; information for asylum. Raketa previously has the opportunity to kill Gunner, but did not take it. In fact, they’ve had one steamy night which Gunner doesn’t quite remember.
A complicated web of intrigue, family connections, team, and romance swirl as conflicting forces work to achieve their goals.

Gunner Godet has been attracted to Zaryana “Raketa” Ivashov for years, but she has worked against him for the KGB. When she refuses their latest assignment and chooses to get out with Gunner’s help United Russia puts a high price on her head. In return for his assistance Gunner wants her help in taking out criminal mastermind Petrov, who is the father of Avarie, wife of Gunner’s best friend and business partner Razor. Raketa, who was an orphan, discovers that her parents are actually alive and who they are. There are many suspenseful moments in this book as Gunner works protects Raketa against UR and Petrov while finding a way to be with her forever.
Provided with a free ARC for an honest review. Heather Slade has done it again. I always wonder if she can top her last book, but she does it every time. The romance between Gunner and Raketa is so overwhelming, to both of them. They hardly know how to deal with their feelings. Comically, all of Gunner's teammates understand what is happening and laugh about it. Gunner and Raketa go through so many on-again off-again turns, trusting not trusting, sneaking around that it seems possible that this one won't end in a hea. Throw in some villains, back from the dead characters, and unknown relatives and there you have it. An all-around great book. Highly recommended.
We met Gunner in earlier stories and now he finally has his own book. He is all lpha hard man and he surprises us and himself when he discovers he also has a heart. Raketa and him met on a mission years ago and now she is ready to get out and she needs Gunners help Both of these alpha warriors have damaged pasts and both have hearts that they need to protect but when the walls crash down the incinerate everything with their passion but do they have any chance together of a future or have they both done and seen too much

I really like this book. It has the right amount of action with enough suspense and twist and turns to keep it interesting. It was a very enjoyable story. I like how Gunner is strong and yet so vulnerable. He is open to showing his emotions. Discussing his feelings with the guys on the team takes a strong man. Reketa is a cold hard killer, yet is sensitive, soft and feisty. She doesn't want to care yet she can't stop it. The plot is well written with suspense, mystery, romance, and so much emotion. Even though this can be read as a stand alone, I love returning to visit with the team. I can't wait to read more from this series.
I love the stories of the agents for the K19 Security team.. This is Gunner’s story and it was outstanding. Ten years ago, Raketa, an assassin for United Russia, spared Gunner’s life. She Fell in love with him the first time she laid eyes on him. This is their story and it’s exciting, intriguing, suspenseful and lots of hot chemistry between Raketa and Gunner. Raketa has defected to the US and United Russia wants her dead and have placed a 5 mil bounty on her head. They also want Petrov, who turns out to be Raketa’s father. This is a page turner. A must read.

Gunner feels like he's not able to live after his heart was destroyed in the past. When he meets Raketa /Rocket Girl a Russian hit woman she calls to him in a way that no one ever has.Hu s heart wants her.Reketa doesn't think she can live anyone or that she is worth loving. But with Gunner maybe she can have the one thing she has dreamed of.This story is an action packed story full of suspense secret agents double agents and danger around every corner this book will keep you riveted until the very last page.I never cared for spy thrillers but this amazing author changed my mind. I can hardly wait to see what's next by this multi talented author.
He was her target but for some reason she couldn't or wouldn't complete her mission. He'll never forget looking into her beautiful eyes. Gunner's Redemption picks up right where Razor's Edge left off. Zaryana Raketa Isahov has been haunted by Gunner Godet ever since she spared his life ao many years ago. One look into his eyes was all it took for both of them. Now he's a man on a mission to rescue her. The evolution from Mr Grumpy to fun loving, smiling and amorous Gunner was fantastic Teaching his Rocket Girl about love and family was special for both of them. The ultimate prize? She no longer has a price on her head.
