Faking a marriage should come easy for two actors who hate each other.
Peter. I was a working actor struggling to make rent when I scored a part in Aiden Hunt's latest blockbuster. Too bad the man himself turned out to be rude, abrasive and annoyingly cocky. But at least I'd never have to see him again after filming. Or so I thought. One drunken wrap party and two gold rings later, I'm married to the bastard and we need to sell a fairytale romance to the tabloids, his legions of fans, and the world. Falling for him in the middle of all this should be out of the question.
Aiden. Hollywood has a bad habit of chewing up young, starry-eyed actors and spitting them right out. That was what I thought would happen to Peter Czerny, and I didn't care. He was rude, self-righteous, and...distracting. Ending up married to him was an inconvenience, but I could use it for my own gain. I just didn't bank on Peter getting under my skin. He slipped into my life like he's always belonged there, and we have an attraction that my body can't deny. I just need to get him out of my system. Then we can both go back to our two separate lives. Somehow, playing a role has never felt this complicated.
This is a standalone, 60k+ Enemies-to-lovers fake marriage contemporary MM romance with an HEA.

"After all, I wasn't just going to wake up married to some gorgeous, successful dude one day, out of the blue."
Famous last words from Peter Czerny, an aspiring actor, whose unfiltered mouth got him the deal of a lifetime. Meeting A-list actor Aiden Hunt should have been a monumental step in Peter's career. Instead, the man was hard-arsed, cold and not what Peter had ever imagined. But his career was riding on this meeting, and Peter had no way of knowing that his truthful words would be the thing to get him noticed.
I cracked an eye open and looked down and found...a golden band wrapped determinedly around my finger. ~Aiden
He had always tried to stay on the straight and narrow, doing what he was told and making minimum waves. But now Aiden had a chance to step outside of his box and do things his way. Finding himself married to his annoying co-star should have been the worst thing ever, but being Hollywood meant playing by the rules, especially with the success of their movie apparently riding on their recent nuptials. But even with an expiry date, would these two men who were completely opposite, with little in common, be able to pull of the performance of a lifetime before someone got killed?
I LOVE frenemies books as much as I love the fake marriage trope. This one had both, plus two wise cracking actors who, despite their attraction, was determine to keep themselves removed from the situation they found themselves in. L.J. Stark impressed me being a first time author. She was able to put so much heat and fire into her words and still manage to keep this reader interested. And I loved the twists and turns, even the role Aiden's homophobic father played, on both his psyche and views on life. And wow, the wrap up was awesome. Total enjoyment, definite recommendation. I would like to see where the author takes her series and look forward to Ransom's book in the future.
I voluntarily and honestly reviewed this book without bias or persuasion from the author through LesCourt.
I read this when I wanted something precisely opposite, and gave it 2 grudging stars. However, I was in a bad mood and probably didn't do the book justice. An extra star to be on the safe side.
Aiden Hunt is the biggest movie star in the world. He was Hollywood royalty, born into the business, and he’d been acting in movies since high school. And now, at the age of twenty five, he was a bona fide A-list movie star with a combined box office of over a billion dollars. And one word from him can affect someone career in the movie industry.
Peter Czerny, is a struggling near-starving-artist who acted in tiny indie movies who trying to climb into Hollywood movie industry through an audition cast as one of superhero in a movie starred by Aiden Hunt.
People says ‘first impression’ is important, and Peter agent had warned him to ‘play nice' when they scheduled to meet Aiden in person because he’s actually the one who decided who’s deserve to be his partner in the movie he stared in. And Peter accidentally ‘ruined’ it by confronted Aiden in the middle of the meeting and then leave.
Knowing that he’d been ruining his chance to enter the Hollywood movie industry, Peter then preparing for the worst and start to thinking for looking another job aside from the movie industry. What he didn’t expected is the call from his agent that tell him that he had secured his role on the movie because – surprisingly - Aiden had approved him as his partner in his upcoming superhero movie!
The story then become more and more interesting when Peter must faced Aiden superstar annoying behaviors during their filming. They act like besties on the screen but then switched as Tom & Jerry after that. Following their interactions and then turn to friend before they ended accidentally married after the Premier Night is reaaaaaaally interesting.
When the marriage accident continued as ‘fake marriage’ to maintain the image and as part of publicity. Both Aiden and Peter have to adjust to their new life as ‘a newly-madly-in-love-marriage-couples' until the contract is over.
But what they didn’t expect is….at the end they falling in love with each other for real….
But could they brave enough to admit what they feels inside and continuing the marriage or ended it like what it written on the contract?
Starstruck is a very light and fun enemies to lovers story mixed with fake marriage. And I enjoying the reading very much.
I'm saying this in english for those who don't speak spanish: the story is nice, but it is so badly writen that it doesn't deserve the rate it has. I'm not a native speaker (as you can probably tell) so I don't usually notice most grammar issues selfpublished books have, but this book it just not revised. The author didn't even read her own book before selling it, and that's just unforgivable.
Sé que hay a quien no le importa la forma de un libro, solo su contenido. Me parece una locura, pero así es. ¿El contenido de este libro está bien? Bastante, a decir verdad.
A hopeful encounter that turns sour, a second-chance that turns into matrimony, a fake relationship that becomes...complicated. Peter is in awe of Aiden, and then he's disgusted. Aiden is bored out of his skull, and then he's irate. Neither man wants anything to do with one another but talent and a whole lot of alcohol keep them together, and if the cheap gold rings on their fingers say anything, it'll be for a lot longer than either ever hoped. But sometimes an accident is a happy accident and both men get a glimpse into something more, something deeper, something real. Whether it will last beyond the movie's opening, however, is the question.
Peter is awkward, honest, and very real. I found him relatable...for most of the book. His constant sniping at Aiden became old because it didn't really let up. We got his perspective for most of the book and I was expecting some kind of revelation that all his hate-fueled passion was changing into something more tender but those moments were few and far between. I did think he truly felt more for Aiden, though. Because we got more from his thoughts we could see small glimpses into his understanding of Aiden and how he could read him. Aiden's thoughts, however, were mostly hidden from us.
I think I was more disappointed in Aiden's character than anything else. We got very little from him in terms of feelings and evolution of character. What we were given was a sullen, moody, entitled prick so often that I felt my hopes of him growing and softening and becoming honest with Peter dwindling with each passing chapter. By the end I kind of didn't care if he changed at all and I doubted that his change came from within rather than loneliness. I just hoped for so much more from him.
The machinations of Aiden's agent in the beginning were great because it meant Peter got the chance he deserved for his career, but as soon as she decided to take the reins for the PR stuff, she became a questionable character. Her job was at the forefront, yes, but seeing her undermine decisions and ultimate happiness for business was frustrating. The confessions at the end went a long way to redeeming the story though. From there to the epilogue was where we could have used more. Pretty much more of everything soft to compensate for all the hate that was spewed between Peter and Aiden through so much of the story. Overall, I think the story was good but had more potential than what we were given. Nice ending but holes, unresolved issues, and not enough settling made it just a 3 star story for me.
This was just what I needed this week. Super sweet, made me a little verklempt in places, and absolutely engaging. First time novelist L.J. Stark knocked this out of the park.
The story is a tale as old as time... hahahaha had to do it, but in a way it is, frenemies become friends and fall in love - while married.
Indie Actor Peter Czerny is a struggling actor, barely keeping his head afloat, when he nails the audition for an up and coming mega action movie staring A-lister Aiden Hunt, _the_ Hollywood hot property. Trouble is Aiden wants final say on who works with him so Peter finds himself in a hipster coffee shop with his agent waiting on the reigning king of Hollywood. Turns out Aiden Hunt is an ***hole! The man was rude, abrasive, annoying and cocky as heck without a shred of human decency... he was a freaking robot! Before he knew it, Peter was calling him on his ***holery and storming out of the meeting, effectively tanking any shot he had at making it as an actor. Or so he thought. It turned out that Hunt's agent _loved_ him and insisted that Peter be cast opposite Aiden. It was Peter's big break - he just had to get through the next three months without killing the arrogant jerk.
Three months of trading barbs and insults later, the movie wraps much to the relief of both Peter and Aiden. All they had to get through was the wrap party in Vegas and then they wouldn't have to see each other until the press junkets and premiere. The booze flowed freely and things happened and Peter and Aiden wake up _married_ with it already leaked and the media was reeling from the revelation that Hollywood's lead actor was into guys, not girls. Well hell.
Now Peter and Aiden are stuck in a fake marriage for the next few months in order to sell the movie and to let the furor die down. Once the movie premieres they can get a quickie divorce and get back to their own lives, right? The trouble is sometimes animosity is a cover for attraction and sometimes attraction leads to emotions like... love. Well hell.
As I said in the beginning, LJ Stark is a new author and this is their first foray into m/m romance. I truly enjoyed the writing style and the world created. There were a few rough patches where you get introduced to characters and you're like 'wha?' but for the most part I really enjoyed this story. I'm looking forward to Book 2!
The story of a famous actor meeting a not famous person and falling in love is a common trope, but Starstruck is an original story. Peter, who is a struggling actor, gets to meet a famous actor as he's auditioning for a part, and instead of being on his best behavior, he calls Aiden an asshole and leaves. Instead of being blacklisted, he is hired instead.
But as Aiden and Peter work together, they clash over everything; how Aiden treats the crew to how he's never on time. At the wrap party, Aiden is jealous when he sees another man with Peter. The next morning, they find themselves married and Aiden realizes this was his opportunity to come out and they agree to stay together until the premiere of their movie.
This story was told mainly through the POV of Peter and his reactions and growing feelings for Aiden. While he describes the looks and actions of Aiden, you feel a little disjointed because the first third of the book is dual POV and then the majority of the rest of the story is told by Peter. There are some plot threads that aren't tied up by the end, especially the one with Aiden's father. Although the relationship is solid, I felt I missed out on how Aiden's feelings developed for Peter because his POV was abruptly stopped.
The ending was sweet, but the epilogue left you wanting more of how their lives have changed three years on. There is a small glimpse, but nothing satisfying. Overall, the story was original, Peter was funny, sweet, and caring but I was disappointed that I didn't get to know Aiden more through his POV.
This is a sweet, fun and entertaining book that I really enjoyed. I love the storyline and the characters are great. Peter and Aiden are perfect for each other but their fake marriage is only supposed to last for a short time. The heat and connection between them is scorching hot and I love how their relationship develops. Peter is very down to earth and treats Aiden like a regular person and the banter between them is hilarious. There is some angst and a lack of communication at times that keeps things interesting. The secondary characters add a lot to the story and I love the ending. I look forward to reading the next book in this new and exciting series.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
I will be honest and say that I read this book and was concerned over the mistakes HOWEVER the author has been great at taking feedback and making the necessary corrections.
The plot is great and was greatly enjoyed. Sometimes a debut author doesn't catch me on the first book but even with the mistakes in the copy I read, I am still intrigued on where the series will go.
My feedback to the author is please be sure to have it edited and proofed more than once each, OR sometimes having an ARC team review it a week before release so that last minute changes can be make without have to pay for multiple editors/proofers.
This was the best enemies to lovers book that I've read in a very long time. Aiden and Peter both showed some serious animosity toward one another, which made them waking up married a delight to read. I liked how both men continued to irritate and encite the other to anger after they decided to stick with it, that being married didn't suddenly cause one or both of them to flip to attraction on a dime. But, over time, as they did allow themselves to relax, they became less antagonistic, and allowed other thoughts and feelings to rise. It was only then, that Aiden and Peter realized that their fake marriage was more.
This is one of those books that I had to look past the writing to see the characters. They sucked me in despite the errors, repetitions, blatant misspellings... But I couldn't stop reading anyways. It's like a magic eye poster, if you look past the words on the page, the characters are sweet and the story, while missing detail that could fully flesh out the plot at times, is heartfelt. I hope there's another round (or two) of editing and an update, because the characters deserve it.
What happens when you have a budding actor and Hollywood's biggest star meshed with a whoops marriage you get Starstruck. This is the story of Peter and Aiden and how opposites do attract. Peter is the quintessential down on his luck, poor, struggling actor who is given an opportunity to film with Aiden, the star who has come from film royalty. And of course they hate each other. The story takes you through their accidental marriage and what happens when you have to spend all your time together. A little bit of angst but a HEA, I really enjoyed this book!
Starstruck is a charming and gripping enemies to lovers romance by LJ Stark. It's exactly what I hope for when I hear about a Hollywood romance, a fun story!
Peter and Aidan meet during Peter's audition for Aidan's new movie. The two certainly get off to a bad start. As things go on, their story is fun, flirty, witty and entertaining. It is a perfect book when you want a happy, light book.
To me Starstruck is an absolutely must-read, and this LJ Stark gem will be added to my re-read often list.
As a reader, we all have genres and sub-genres that we particularly like. Personally, I am a big fan of false relationships, false marriages and stories of enemies to llovers. So obviously after reading the blurb of Starstruck L.j. Stark, I did not hesitate a long time before getting into my reading. This book has almost been written for me by bringing together in one book most of the elements that I love.
I really liked that the author does not brusque the relationship between Peter and Aiden. Often we go from "I hate you" to "I love you" in a few pages. So when you like to see the characters bickering, it often removes a lot of interest in the Book in addition to reducing the realism. Here the author has not fallen into this trap and we are witnessing a game of cat and mouse throughout the book and that, even in the last chapters where they refuse to confess to themselves that their feelings have changed and especially they refuse to believe that the feelings of the other could also have evolved.
The work on the development of Aiden and Peter's relationship is undeniably the highlight of this book. Their first encounter is explosive and their love scenes are The portait of what they feel, a strong desire and feelings that must be masked behind the mask of their supposed hatred. But at the same time, this relationship is filled with sweetness and it is in this spirit that it will mature as they discover and learn each other.
The other strong point for me is the big work done on the characters and especially on Aiden I deplore the little number of chapter with his point of view. In the first pages of the novel, we meet a scornful, haughty young man who thinks he is above everyone else because of his status as a "Hollywood star". But throughout the reading, we discover other facets of his personality and his past that make him a very human and lovable character having built a personality and a shell in order to protect himself from an environment and a toxic father. With Aiden, the author has achieved the Fixed Bet with this novel. I was in Peter’s head. I hated Aiden at first and I loved him at the end.
In the end, despite some defects and editing errors, normally corrected since my reading, Starstruck is a very enjoyable reading that I strongly advise fans of the genre and other fans of Hollywood romances.
Peter is a struggling actor who tends to be more grounded than the huge stars. He has the opportunity to potentially star against a huge megastar, Aiden, but Aiden irks him right from the get go. He is cocky, arrogant, rude, and treats people like they are dirt on the bottom of his shoe. Peter takes no crap from him and lets him know exactly what he is thinking. I loved that about Peter. Apparently Peter's no nonsense attitude wins him the role, and the two work together in the movie. They can't stand each other and bicker constantly.
As the filming commenced and during the wrap party, some of the walls come down and somehow the two get stupid drunk and end up married. Rather than hide it all, they decide to remain fake married and use it as a publicity stunt. Of course, then they end up having feelings for each other and become a super couple.
The two together were great. They matched each other well, and each made the other better. I liked the story overall. There was the typical amount of angst when characters break up because they are stupid, but at least it was short lived.
I am voluntarily reviewing an ARC provided by LesCourt Author Services
This is the first book in The Opposites Attract Series. I have mixed feelings about this book the writing was okay. There were places that it was great and places that fell flat. The idea of the story is good and I think that the author did get that out. But I needed more from the characters. I didn’t know if some of them were friends or not and that was confusing. I also needed the MC’s to have more strength in what was going on at the end. That was flat and not WOW in the actions and thoughts. The plot was entertaining and it was steady throughout the book. I found the story and characters likeable. Peter and Aiden are the MC’s of this book. Even though I had a few problems with this book it was good enough that I want to read the next book. I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book for an honest review.
2.5 stars because I really like the plot ( one of my favorite trope ) and it was an okay story...
until it wasn't, because of the errors and the typos my mind is automatically editing and supplying missing words and even switching the names of the 2 lead characters for the correct one because there's a lot of mix ups. It is tiring. But yes, I couldn't put it down. Peter and Aiden is sweet together . . . I love them.
But yeah, this book needs an editor. . . (especially if this is going to be a series and Ransom's and his assistant's book is next. Another favorite trope of mine. So , I will probably read that one, too. )
It all happens in Vegas. But the real story starts after. I enjoyed the banter between the two. I enjoyed how through all of the banter love was sneaky and wrapped them both up in it. I’m glad these two finally figured it out. That what was once hate for each other eventually changed to love. The writing was ok which is why it’s not a 5. There was multiple spelling errors, and at one point the POV said Aiden when. It was really Pete. Be advised that while it is a duel pov, it’s mostly driven by one MC. The smexy was good and the side characters kind of sucked. They weren’t very supportive.
This is Stark’s debut novel and wow what a great start! They did the enemies to lovers trope perfectly. Seriously, Aidan’s sneakiness to Peter was that well written I wanted to punch him for Peter at some occasions! Their chemistry together, however, was insanely hot! I couldn’t put the book down! There was a couple of formatting errors such as wrong POV headings etc but that didn’t take away from the enjoyment of the novel at all! If this is Stark’s debut then I can’t wait for what else there is to come!
This book is sweet and funny Loved Peter's pov. I would have liked more of Aiden's pov. More vulnerablity would have been apreciated. There was some undisclosed side charecters drama which was unresolved (preparation for 2 nd book.) I liked the trope subversion Spoiler! So this book had a scene where the father is being homophobic and the love interest doesn't stand for other M.C.They just left together. I know! Its a stupid thing to like but I am done with those 'I stand for you against your parents cause I love you scenes'
Loved the characters in this book, especially Peter. Even though he had a dream to become an actor he knew who he was and stood up for himself and people around him. I think Aiden secretly admired that about him. He didn't kiss his butt, quite the opposite. But once these two came together the sparks flew. I liked the love hate relationship they had. I cant wait to see what else L.J. Stark has for us.
I enjoyed this book. It was a nice story of two main characters that were so stubborn about their feelings of animosity they couldn't recognize their feelings for each other had changed until they were apart. Sweet love story with a happily ever after. Would recommend and will read the next in the series.
I looooooved it. But I would've loved it more if I didn't have to constantly wonder which of the characters is talking because it was all messed up and i had to finagle my way through a bunch of your/you're and all kinds of mistakes. Not cool. So the story get a solid 4. But it's more like 3 overall.
I really enjoyed this story. Thought the characters were well done and the content a pretty good read. I did like the style of the author and I would like to read more but they’ve disappeared off the earth? Shame as I think the more books written by this author meant you will see improvement in each book.
I really liked this book. The way their relationship progressed was very good but infuriated me when they just talk to each other, they were being so stubborn and obtuse. Peter always gave as good as he got, he never shied away from anything, he handled things even if they were dificult. Aiden was just trying to be himself but it was hard. They really fit together, I liked that
I enjoyed this book. The characters were likable and the story line was good. There are unfortunately a few consistencies in the chapters MC POV’s as well as a timeline statement at the end but it was still an enjoyable story.
very good story.. i think this is this authors first story and they did a very good job. th characters are enjoyable.. the plot was well written.. i saw a few mistakes here and there but it happens. overall good story
I enjoyed the story line, I love a good fake relationship/enemies to lovers! I loved all the characters! But wow the editing threw me off bad and I was disappointed 😔 I hope the next one will have better editing as I did enjoy it!
I love a good enemies to lovers and this definitely one. This is a great start to a series and this author's writing. Just love Peter and Aiden. This was such a great story that I couldn't put down! I can't wait to see what happens next.
